La Quinta by Wyndham Olathe

We switched our stay from the Super 8 to this hotel to make it more enjoyable for our daughter. We wanted her to be able to swim and we wanted to enjoy a hot tub. The pool was too cold. Many people were complaining how cold it was. The water from the pool flows into the hot tub which makes no sense to me making the hot tub cold as well. The front desk guy had told us everything was working fine when we checked in (all the staff were very nice including him). I waited to leave this review until later in the day because they said manager would call us and we have yet to hear from one.

From the outside, looks like a nice hotel. Nicer than I would normally expect for a La Quinta. Lots of construction going on inside and out, though. It was clear that for as nice as the place looked, once you looked closer, there were some issues. No places to hang towels in the bathroom. The mattresses, despite being tempurpedic, were not remotely comfortable. Everyone woke up with hurting backs. The air conditioner ran for 3 minutes, then shut off for 5 minutes the entire time (3 days), which did not help the sleeping situation. It was either super loud or super quiet. We kept finding sunflower seed shells that did not get cleaned up from the prior guests. No curtains so light comes in around the blinds, and there was no DND tag. I stopped at the front desk to ask for one, but the concierge couldn’t find one either. I ended up making my own. The hot tub was out of service and something I had personally been looking forward to as I’m usually sore from a long day traveling in a car. I wanted an inexpensive place to stay for a family meeting and this met that checklist, kinda. If I hadn’t unpacked stuff (we travel with kids so IYKYK), I would have asked to be moved because of the air conditioner alone as it was the most inconvenient issue. Huge flat screen TV, though. Would I stay here again? Ehhh, I don’t know. Sometimes cheap hotels make the best memories, but if all the rooms were like the one I had, I would probably pass.

The outside door latch was broken so anyone could access the far entrance away from the desk. There were several security lights inoperative and made me feel less than comfortable for my vehicle and its contents. There was mold around the tub. Not sure how it has such a high rating on hotels.com

The hotel was very clean. That’s the only positive. The elevator was broken and we had to carry our luggage to the second floor. The pool was very cold and the hot tub didn’t work, just barely warm. There was a definite smell of animal in the hotel. Also, the AC would sometimes work in the room. The lobby for breakfast was very warm, seemed like the AC wasn’t working at all in there. Very loud people in the hallways very very late at night and you could hear everything. Was hard to sleep. Would not pick this hotel ever again.

There was major construction going on in the motel which even though it did not interfere with our stay, nothing was mentioned on the site that there was major construction happening. There was stuff in the stairwell that could have been hazardous IF there had been an emergency. The entire second floor was being remodeled, when you took the stairs up to the third floor the second floor was wide open so the anybody to get into anything and their was construction stuff everywhere, which could be very hazardous. When we had got there they had told us there was a water leak and we had to be moved to a different room. Not a room even close to what we had reserved. After going back down to the desk to see about another room close to what we reserved, we was put in the room we originally was assigned. If it was our room that had the water leak why did we get it back after we complained, the guy at the desk said it was the room we was assigned in the first place. Although the room was clean, the refrigerator was loud every time the compressor came on and the heater didn't work properly. I will give the motel another stay but I'm truely hoping the next stay is a little better as far as being told there is remodeling being done and limited parking because of all the construction stuff needed.

I found the king beds extra for, another guest asked if we felt the same stating that the queens were a bit more plush. This is a total preference thing l, I just prefer a bit softer. The sofa pullouts was very thin and you could feel all the springs. Their feather free pillows are extra thin, luckily I brought my own (allergy free). At the time the pool and hot tub were not working. The breakfast was great, the staff working were very observant and polite. Check in and out was fast and convenient.

To start with unpaid extra to check in early - 11 am, and the person at the front desk did not even know that they could do that- he blamed it on the “third party”, however I had requested that directly through Wyndham. He was not knowledgeable at all with what they could and could not do, and was not friendly at all. Then- when I got into my room- which was overall very well done- there was a huge crack int eh window and we were on the ground floor. Not only was it unsafe, but it made the a/c run more than it should have. Finally, the gym was a disaster- only 2 out of the 4 aerobic machines worked, and the thermostat did not work, so it was about 80 degrees in there with humidity. after I requested it to be fixed- the next day there was still no change. The breakfast was pretty good, however.

Terrible place. The elevator kept breaking down, phones didn’t work, room keys were deactivated before check out time and we got locked out of our room. Front desk staff was not helpful. Other guests had the same experience.

Very clean, lovely hotel. The rooms had obviously been refitted, but very well done. Beds were very comfortable. The entire property was clean. The common areas were especially nice and inviting. Kids loved the pool. Negatives: The toilet in the pool was broken and the elevator was broken for our entire stay.

The place was clean. People were nice. We got 2 rooms for one night, and even though I got them almost 3.5 weeks in advance, they were still on different halls. “Cause it’s Saturday.” They didn’t have enough pool towels and the mat on the way out of the pool area was soaked. Directly outside the pool area is just a wet slippery floor and they put out a wet for sign. No one cleaned it or put towels down or a mat, but made sure they came in and told us that we needed to dry our feet off before leaving the pool area. I told him that there were no towels and they brought 7, even though there were at least 11 people in the pool. When we asked for more, they said they were out. A couple of my kids were sliding and falling on the wet floor and it was pretty dangerous. I’m glad they’re pet Friendly but there were dogs everywhere. They were barking and in the breakfast area during breakfast. All of their juice machines were out of order, only coffee and milk. We went on a Saturday night and pretty sure there was just one person working there but I never had to wait too long. They have a no smoking sign right outside the entry door but a crowd of people smoking standing next to the door. Parking was good and usually pretty close to a door. They turn the air all the way down so when you walk in you’re hit with instant heat and humidity and need to turn the air on for a while before carting all your stuff in or you’ll be sweating. There’s no vending machines but they have a little shop.

There were roaches in the bathroom and when I woke up I drank my Gatorade and there was a roach in it!!!!! I have pictures! Then staff accused us of being loud called and banged on our door. Turns out it was the people next to us. Horrible stay.

The room was spacious, the shower had mold/mildew in the caulking, there was hair from the previous occupants and the water did not properly drain until we requested maintenance. The fire alarm went off around 1:30am, we had to evacuate, once we were back in our room, the light continued flashing until after 10am. Also, ceiling tiles in the hallways were stained with mold or mildew from previous water leaks. The sink faucet was not properly secured. It is a beautiful property from the outside and the lobby, but definitely requires more care inside the actual rooms.

Upon arrival the room smelled not the best, looked as tho the floors had not been vacuumed or sweeped/mopped. The door knobs were covered in idk and the remote was super sticky. The bed was made but made me question things due to the cleanliness of the actual room. The bed frame was dirty and there was a couple dirty pillows that we opted not to use. We were also right by the stair door which was very inconvenient late at night as people seemed to love to let it slam shut so we didn’t get much sleep. We did leave a day early and I did let the front desk lady know, she was super sweet and said she would let her manager know so hopefully they can make sure the next people who stay in there have a better experience. Also am hoping that they reimburse me my money that they have charged for a 4th night as we did not stay a 4th night. Hope they get things right. Usually enjoy my stay at Wyndham hotels but this was a no for me.

The room was clean and the staff were friendly.

The cover of the bedding had stains on it. Red spot on carpet by TV console.

Property is in poor repair. Paint literally peeling off the bath ceiling; moldy caulk. Not clean. No pet walk area designated and lots of trash around building. This property needs updating. The staff was very nice and proficient.

Overall, this was a nice hotel. However, there was a blood stain plus other random stains on my comforter which was gross. Rust stains in the tub weren’t great either. But maybe other rooms were better than mine? The lobby was pretty & clean-it’s seemed okay. If my comforter had been clean-I would have rated higher. My sheets were clean, tv was good and it was quiet-so for one night it was okay.

The hotel was nice on the outside but not clean underneath the sheets when I brought it to the intention of the hotel and the manager, they told me they couldn’t do anything about it. Thank you for Hotels.com that they did help compensate me for this tragic experience.

Upgraded recently. Very comfy beds. Great breakfast. Alarm clock plugged in behind panels on wall. Unable to to unplugged kept making static noisy and no way to make it stop. Staff informed. Said they would look into it. Never got back to us. Difficult night to sleep with the noise. Also the AC unit didn’t cool well. Never would get under about 75.

Window did not have a curtain and parking lot light shined in all night. I am a very light sleeper and the light kept me awake.

Great room, spacious floor plan! Would definitely stay again. Plenty of parking, friendly staff, hot breakfast available, clean rooms and comfortable bed. Recommend 10/10

We have stayed previously and absolutely had a great experience. This time around in our room there was a broken lamp the door to restroom did not close the tile in the restroom was moving and toilet was not to stable.

The beds are memory foam, which would be great but my bed had memory foam that has separated, so it didn't provide any support on one side of the bed. This is disturbing because this was in one of the rooms for people with disabilities. Also, my shower, on the third floor, had very poor water pressure. The good was that they were very friendly. The place was clean. They had a mini convenience store and good breakfast.

The building it self is really nice however it was constructed of wood and so sound travels throughout the entire structure. My family and I rented the one bedroom suite, which is their premier room, and we could hear every person who entered the building due to the continuity of sound from the stairwell through the structure. The suites are located on the ends of the building where the stairs are so if you rent these rooms be prepared to be woken up by suitcases being dragged up and down the stairs at any given time in the day or night. Also be prepared to hear the outside doors slam as well. The staff however is wonderful! The pool and hot tub were great. Breakfast was ok, Typical generic hotel breakfast you would expect anywhere, nothing special but not bad. The common areas were very nice and kept well. I would be happy to stay here again but I would definitely stay away from the end suites.

The outside looks nice, the only interaction with staff was upon check in. But as entering the lobby i noticed it was so warm inside the lobby with a heavy smell from the pool. Got checked in went to the elevator(which sounds like it may die but it works fine) the hallways were altar 80⁰. The room was clean but the AC unit that was set on 68⁰ before we got there barely cooled the room. Shower had ok pressure but the shower heads are outdated with residue buildup, couldn't take a bath cause the stopper was broken. The bed are hard, lumpy and just horrible. Will not be staying here again..... left before breakfast so no comments on that

Bed was lumpy and the ac/heater was very noisy, sounded like a semi-truck was driving by each time it started running.

Clean and very quiet the rooms was very enormous size.

I mostly concerned about this property are check in too late and frondesk lady are very rude nit friendly at all.

The elevators were broken; we had to use the staircase and carried our bags up and down to the second floor. We didn’t eat breakfast because they ran out of food; they wanted us to wait for more than 10 minutes for food to be ready. Our room got cleaned very late in the day. During check out at about 8:10ish, the front desk clerk whom refused to give us her name was very rude and dismissive. We asked to speak to a manager to voice our concerns; she said they all went to a conference. She then proceeded to tell us what do we want her to do about it? She said the elevator started to work but the sign is still there just in case they start to have issues again. I’m happy to share pictures if I need to..

I booked and paid online. When i arrive they asked for a card to keep on file and they charged me again. Then preceeded to tell me 3 to 5 business days for a refund. She lied and said she talk to her manger and it should be back on the card by 8pm or the following morning. At check out I asked the other lady working; that was very rude, about it. Told me that it was waiting for her in the morning to do. And would be 3 to 10 days. Never appolizied, never looked me in the face. The hot tub was cold and the pool was warm. I asked them to fix it and they turned they temperature pool up instead. The beds are rock hard. Dog poop all over the grass. Paper thin walls.

The staff were very professional yet friendly. They were helpful when asked questions

Our stay was great! We had an issue with our TV when we arrived, brought it up to the front desk and they had it resolved in less than 5 minutes. Breakfast was a pretty standard hotel breakfast with plenty of seating room. Didn't use the gym or the pool, but both looked really nice

From the minute we walked into this hotel, the staff was friendly and accomodating. The breakfast was pretty decent, also- as hotel breakfasts go. This was one of the cleanest rooms that we've stayed in, and recently, that's been quite a few, having just come off of a big trip. Very nice experience.

Room was very clean, comfortable, and open. TV was also large. Room came with a refrigerator, microwave, iron, hair dryer, etc. Check in and out was very and quick, staff were always attentive. The first night my room on the third floor was very quiet. The second night there were many teenagers/young adults running around until about midnight. It wasn't disturbing enough to contact the front desk but was noticed. Hotel is in a safe area that is close to food, gas, and shopping.

Loved that it was across from Olathe Medical Center.

There is a Taco Bell and Chili's close to the hotel. Further away are more options, the nearest gas station is also over a mile away. It is easy off and on for the interstate. There is an Aldi's and Target also about a mile away. There are more than a few closed restaurants around and some large open fields. the hotel itself is very nice.

When we checked in we were told breakfast was 6am-10am and when we went for breakfast at 9:15 they were already cleaning the breakfast area and taking away the food.

the pool was very clean as were the rooms but the elevator was very sketchy and seemed very unsafe.. better off taking the stairs. Breakfast was simple but okay and they took long to refill breakfast items. was told breakfast would be available until 10 am staff was cleaning and removing items at 9 and said their hours had changed recently. Other than that 4/5 staff were all VERY nice and accommodating!

Great place. Breakfast was really good. Pool was nice and refreshing.

Good location. Rooms are roomy except for the bathroom. The biscuits & gravy were good but the scrambled eggs and sausage were cold.

The lobby was very nice. Had nice smell in hotel instead of feeling musty or old. Water pressure in shower was horrible. Very low took about 35 mins to get my hair washed out. The floor in bathroom had someone’s chunk of hair on baseboard area. Bathroom door has all white spots all over it. Bed was very comfortable though. Air worked well. Breakfast was just ok. Tator tots were dry and hard. Outside had some work getting done with big hole in ground that they are working on. Convenient to highway and hospital and target and gas stations.

Great stay! The room was spacious. Enjoyed the breakfast especially the sausage gravy and biscuits. Staff was courteous and helpful. I’ll come back again.

Very nice hotel. It was clean and updated. The staff were friendly and efficient. The breakfast had a lot of variety and was very good.
