Staybridge Suites Rochester University by IHG

The river view was amazing and great walking alongside on paved paths. For family stay the suite was perfect because of extra gathering space. Community lounge and fire pit was also very nice.

This was our second trip to Rochester in 6 years. We always stay at this hotel. The riverview is spectacular watching the wildfowl in the morning and evening is great. 5 mins from great restaurants.Has a bar and common area. We met our son for his birthday and had a nice celebration in the lobby. For walkers it is attached to a nice walking path across the river or in the park. The rooms were large and well layed out. Has a fitness center too! Was very clean and the breakfast had alot of variety. We highly recommend this for your next stay. We will certainly return.

Consider just eliminating the gym, in current condition. Also, I received an email the day of checking in that the pool was non- functional and that I could not get a refund. If one could only swim in the Genny. Most of the staff were very cordial, including housekeeping. There were staff over this weekend on food service however that ran on with profanity, with either friends, or whoever repeatedly, talking at a volume that no one could avoid not hearing. Not a shock, just very unprofessional. Good location but not worth the quality of the facilities, or potty mouths. Sorry.

Property under construction & we were not notified. Lobby was so loud & completely filled w Sheetrock dust. No pool, but online says there is a pool. Front desk woman was rude. Will not stay at a Staybridge again.

Clean room Fitness center is small but well maintained Easy parking and a 15 min drive to Convention center, blue cross arena, RIT and U ROC Decent breakfast- coffee wasn’t great and there is no ice machine But that would not stop me from staying here again.

There is no pool. But they do have a bar and breakfast in the morning. The staff at breakfast was not the greatest. Construction around the property. But overall very satisfied!

Our room was nice and clean. Overall the stay was fine. A few things to note: Location wasn't great, there was HORRIBLE construction all around hotel/ a ripped up road, one way street was not great. The bar was not open (even on a weekend night?!) and there is no pool. (Yes, I see that is listed by the hotel as being closed permanently) The breakfast was ok, but the chef seemed rude to some other guests saying there was no additional food and to keep the lid of the food closed. There was also a very strong/odd smell in the hallway.

Got a room with clogged toilet! The staff offered a plunger to do it ourselve! We spent the night with a clogged toilet, gross! Terrible experience here!

Hotel and rooms were impeccably clean. Danielle was incredibly wonderful and helpful with our stay. Location was amazing with a river view with paths that we enjoyed taking walks around. Breakfast was good and there's coffee and tea available by front desk 24/7. I would definitely come back here for my next visit.

he room we stayed in (413) was very clean. I always do a wipe-down when I arrive, and I was impressed that there was no dust or dirt so this was a big plus for me. The view from the room wasn’t great, as it overlooked the parking lot and neighborhood homes, but that wasn’t a deal breaker. Bed was clean and comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was a nice perk, though I didn’t enjoy it as much as I have at other places, my husband, however, had no complaints. The food area felt a bit cramped, but there were plenty of nice seating options available. The immediate area near the water is pleasant, but I wouldn’t recommend walking too far in other directions at night. There’s a convenience store right across the street that’s well-stocked and appears to be open 24 hours. Every staff member I interacted with was friendly and helpful. Overall, I would stay here again.

We have stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn and Marriott Courtyard previously visiting our UR undergrad son and this time tried the Staybridge Suites. The location couldn’t be beat (closest walk to campus), the WiFi was excellent (unlike the Hilton) and the room was spacious. The bathroom was a little cramped, but that was fine for what we were expecting. Overall, a great experience- we will return!

Helpful and welcoming staff, convenient location if you need to be on the UR campus, and good value for money. The room was comfortable and clean.

Room was very comfortable and clean. The view of the river was great. The only issue was the radiator/heater. It was so loud and every few minutes it would beep 6 times loudly. To solve this we turned off the heat completely and it still beeped all night long! Even off! It woke us up so often during the night that we decided not to book for another night. Everything was great except for this and the walls were a bit thin so outside noises were also easily heard.

Wonderful! We had a 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms for our family of 5- just what we needed

Very pleasantly surprised with size of room, amenities, cleanliness, and firm mattress. The room was up to date and had a small kitchen with full refrigerator and sink and paper towels, sponge, and cleaning supplies. There was more, but I did not prepare any meals. The mattress was firm and comfortable. Although the bathroom was handicap accessible, it would be difficult to get a wheelchair close to the shower/tub. I would gladly stay again.

The room had more to it than I expected. Which is great! Parking isn't too bad either.

Front desk associate very rude and short.

I arrived at this hotel at around 10:30PM on August 18 to check in to my reservation for my one night stay with my husband. The receptionist told me that there were no available rooms. She said the reservation I booked on Expedia should not have gone through. She also said that they were only allowing 3 night stays because they were busy for college move-in day. So I asked if they were still going to charge us and she replied no. We didn’t want to inconvenience her so we decided to stay at a different hotel. We left at around 11:15PM. Then at 12:42AM I received a call from this hotel by a male employee saying that I did not need to come to their hotel anymore. I answered that I was there at 10:30PM and they didn’t have a room for me. However the hotel charged me $266.76 for the room we did not stay in. I messaged Expedia explaining the situation. Expedia talked to the hotel, to which the hotel said that we canceled our reservation and they couldn’t refund the money The Expedia team also were not reading our messages thoroughly and kept saying the same thing I assume because they were written in Chinese I believe that this misunderstanding was not our fault and Expedia and the hotel should have done a better job at communicating

The hotel was great, but the highlight of our stay was the amazing and wonderful Front Desk Manager, Jesus Santiago. Beyond friendly, very professional and 100% fantastic. He answered our questions about the different neighborhoods, had great insights about the area and was extremely helpful and courteous.

Everyone was so helpful and friendly. Breakfast and happy hour were great.

Chef Mark made delish macaroni and cheese and the breakfast was great as well. Highly recommended this incredible stay .

I have never stayed at a hotel where the staff are so friendly. This goes beyond helpful and professional: they truly approach their jobs as a labor of love. From the dining room staff --the man who saw that everyone had drinks (at a buffet breakfast!) and the woman who cooks the food for the breakfasts and the social --BBQ meals!!-- and decorates for the holidays, to the front desk people. . . these folks are so impressive. I noticed, too, that several people were staying there for longer terms (getting houses rebuilt, etc.). One of these guests I met in the elevator and she told me she was treated like family. I saw these interactions and felt so grateful for the warmth I observed in all of these interactions. Of course, the food was good, the beds were comfy, the rooms were pleasant, and the renovations will be beautiful when complete. Those things are important but also more common in hotel accommodations. The people here make this an extraordinary hotel. I would return in a heartbeat!

I drove up to Rochester with my son to help him move out of his apartment. After making a 2 night reservation it became clear that we would only be needing one night, but I could not change the reservation before the 7 day deadline. However, the manager Joanne G. was kind enough to waive the 1-night penalty fee...thanks in large part to Hotels.com rep. reaching out on my behalf. The hotel is clean and the breakfast was excellent. We'll stay here again if we're back in the area

There’s really nothing wrong with the hotel itself! It’s the surrounding area!! Drug dealers down the street and people zombied out!! Then the road construction right in front is a no go also!!

I loved that it was right on the Genesee river.

Friendly, close to airport, clean

Area in general is a bit run down and they are ripping up the street right in front of the building but the staff and room itself were excellent.

Every thing was great. Close to the hospital which was what i needed.

Very nice staff. Good breakfast and a cute little bar for a beer and a snack. Right on the river.

My kids said the breakfast wasn't very good. The cook was openly grumpy. Bad day I guess.

We did not stay long at Staybridge Hotel, this was a back up option since the initial stay booked through another site felt me feeling unsafe. I knew I could actually sleep with peace of mind when we pulled up to the front door. The property was beautiful and inviting. The 2hr happy hour was a pleasant addition not expecting to enjoy a free beer and pizza slice before ending the night early. I’ve saved IHG hotels in my favorites due to our lovely experience at this property.

Best part was proximity to the path and bridge that goes along the river on the other side. Breakfast existed, but basic and plain. For example, the hard boiled egg was frozen solid. Only yogurt was sweetened. No bar seevice as advertised. All workers were very nice. Not many food places or markets nearby. I can live with all of it in exchange for proximity to the college, river, and bike path/walking trail. The trail is a gem.
