La Quinta by Wyndham Fort Walton Beach

This hotel was built years ago and is still well kept. I watched it being built since I'm from Fort Walton area. The check in was fast and accommodating for my needs! Clean and comfy room with plenty of space to stretch out. We had a pet friendly room and the only issue we had was as entering, it did smelled of pet urine, i did mention it to housekeeping. Simple fix since we always travel with an enzyme spray to eliminate any previous pet smells since we do travel with my service dog. The room did have really cold a/c! Has a pool but it is not heated. We were there in the middle of April, so it was cooler than expected and super breezy during our stay. My niece and nephews all enjoyed the pool though (kids lol). Hotel does have a small gym to get in some cardio! The property is located on main strip of Fort Walton with rear access off Beal Pkwy but not on the beachfront. You can see the Bay from parking lot but not from the room since hotel rooms face east and west. Had plenty of parking and even has truck parking on the side with dog walking area. Breakfast did not have many options. Self serve waffles, bagels, packaged oatmeal, sausage, eggs, juices and coffee were available but not good at all. We ended up going out for breakfast which I recommend Neighborhood Cafe off Mary Esther Cutoff. Had delicious food and wonderful service there! Overall, we would definitely stay here again when visiting my family.

Okay for the price. Had to call housekeeping bring I found trash on the floor from previous guest. Gym area was nice and pool area was okay but needed some TLC. We stayed 4 days for spring break. Only thing that was odd was a couple (male and female )whom were riding by on bikes decide to come to the pool area after parking there bikes by the dog park.. felt a little unsafe afterwards being they weren’t staying there.

The designated smoking section was right next to the pool, so anytime we swam, we smelled cigarettes. The hallways smelled like cat litter. The room itself was clean and comfortable, but won’t stay here again.

We love your location and your pet friendly policy. The dog area is especially nice to have and so well lit. Staff were readily available, friendly, and helpful.

Stayed one night. Beds were comfy, room was clean, it was quiet at night, staff were friendly, pool was clean, hotel was clean. Great area, was close to everything. Breakfast was ok.

It was a weekend stay for National Dance Competition. It was very close to where we needed to be and close to the beach. We enjoyed the breakfast and my girls enjoyed swimming in the pool.

Every morning the night table would be filled with ants, the breakfast was very limited and ended early at 9am, finally the pool was not available for a day or two during my stay.

The pool was shut down (part of the reason I booked the place was to use the pool). The room AC did not do a good job of cooling the rom. The mini-fridge was very loud and so was the AC. The stairwells were very dirty and smelly.

Great location in FWB. There's a big parking lot adjacent to the building for semi trucks, RVs, and boat trailers. Very nice for under $100/night (in Dec 2023).

Location is great: walking distance to nearby restaurants & parks. The only problem we had was walking into a damp room with damp pillows, carpet, towels & bedding. Not sure if it was due to AC being off or if it was not sanitized properly.

Very clean and quiet

When we checked in everything was fine with front desk. I got into the room and there were stains and hair all over both beds. In the bathroom there were long pieces of black hair on the toilet and tub. The lounge chair had heavy stain spots all over it and the floor was full of white small pieces of trash. I asked front desk if they had any other rooms that'll Accommodate us. Unfortunately they didn't of course! I had to go across the street to residence inn to ask if they had anything to accommodate my family. I have pictures of all the hair and stains I discovered on bed and pillows.

Stay was fine. The property shows its age and the carpet felt a bit damp. The room I had a severe smell of smoke from its previous life as a smoking room. The WiFi was not good for business That being said, the staff was responsive and amazing.

We are so glad we stayed at this location. Aside from the reasonable price we got, the hotel was very clean. It always smelled good and fresh. We would definitely come back and we recommend this location to anyone.

The stay was quiet and peaceful. The carpet and floor in our room was sticky.

After paying the property $540 for 3 nights. After the 1st night, in the next Morning i find is a roach next to the bed. Yes i did take a picture of the bug in my phone. I was very upset that after i spent all that money for a roach to be next to the bed i slept in after 1 night. Freaking ridiculous if ask me. The hotel staff exchange the room for me and did heavy cleaning on that same room. Which was nice of the staff and manager. But could not lower my room rate. You are guranteed i will never book a hotel with expedia or la quinta ever. What a horrible experience.

The room stank immediately after we checked in. The staff tried deodorizing the room by stuffing coffee pods in AC unit and having the room freezing cold. It was moldy spots on furniture including mattresses. Next morning one of our kids woke up to a bed bug crawling on them. Immediately went to front desk where she was insinuating that we brought it with us and normally if we wouldn’t have booked through a third party that their policy was to have us leave the building. Since we did go through a third party and had no extra money for another hotel the staff told us they’d move us to a new room once one became available next morning which turned out they moved us to a room 3 doors down from where we originally were and after that happened it was all attitude with us til we left. This hotel is gross they don’t even seem like they vacuum the floors. If you have allergies do not go here. If you don’t want bed bugs don’t go here. The last time we will be booking a hotel.

Damp! The room needs a dehumidifier immediately! Carpet drapes wall covering all damp and no ventilation in the bathroom. It was clean with no smell of mold or mildew, just damp. Improved only slightly by turning on the ancient air conditioner that had been off.

OK, I have rated this La Quinta excellent in many if not most areas. There are, however, areas that can definitely be improved on. #1. Their COX Wifi Service sucks. Seriously sucks and is not reliable. #2 while they did have 4-pots of regular coffee there was zero decaf. Even front desk admitted as much. #3 free breakfast was LOW end. With 4 dispensers for cereal and only 2-choices. I am willing to discuss other stuff with Mgt 850-712 4285 Mike Hendrix.....

It was quite comfortable as we were in a handicap/disability room. It was spacious, easily accessible and convenient as we were adjacent to the parking lot.

Great two night stay! Beds very comfy! Rooms clean. Breakfast is typical hotel breakfast gets the job done. Will stay again.

Everything was convenient for our visit, the bath was accessible, I would not have used marble to sit on due to being slippery. We used a towel to sit on. The bed was horrible, one had broken springs. Not comfortable at all.

Clean room, comfortable bed. Quiet except for some road noise early in the evening.

The room is clean and we had everything my only complaint would be the beds are really really firm and the air conditioning needs to be upgraded cause it was a little hot at night.

My experience was good! I noticed that the room smelled a bit mildewy when I turned on the AC, but I think that’s just Florida :) other than that I had a great stay. The bed was very comfortable!

This property is at the most a 1.5 star hotel. The beds were the most uncomfortable I ever slept on and the hotel is very noisy! We ended up going to front desk at 2:30a.m. to request to cancel upcoming stay, when they should’ve given me a refund for the day I stay as well. No way it’s worth the $200+that I paid.

The suites are like a one bedroom apartment with a kitchenette (sink, microwave and mini frig) abd plenty of counter space. We had a nice view of the matuna and intercoastal waterway. It is within walking distance of a couple local restaurants and easily accessible to Destin and beaches. Due to proximity of Eglin and Hurlburt Air Force bases, traffic is terrible between 7 - 9am and 3pm - 6pm. I'd recommend for location and value!

Internet was bad. Breakfast wasn't the best.

Front desk clerk was rude and impolite when we checked in. Will not stay at this property again.

We appreciated being able to check in a few hours earlier after a long morning of traveling. The staff was very friendly during our entire stay.

We had a mix up in our reservation and Christina at the desk went above and beyond to help us out. She called the hotel I had thought I booked and got us rebooked there and took care of everything at both places. Totally impressed by her attitude and willingness to help! What a super employee ❤️

Gentleman at the front desk was just a great person.

The staff was incredibly helpful and shared a wealth of valuable information, making our stay much more enjoyable.

The check in front desk people are very rude and talk about you out loud when passing through the lobby. The lady checking us in was rude the whole time and the Indian descent guy keeping looking at us with disgust and mubbling under his breath while we stood there checking in. When we passed back through the lobby with our luggage and stuff for the week, he started making rude comments and the 1st lady joined in. Very unprofessional! The housekeeping lady was nice and courteous. The ladies in the breakfast area seemed to be in bad moods and would keep rolling their eyes and making comments to and about people the whole time during the breakfast hours. Luckily we were out of the hotel more than we were in it. The 1st night we noticed that our room phone was broken and we had no shower curtain. They put a shower curtain in and told us to not even worry about a room phone. That's fine, that guy was actually very nice. Overall, the hotel itself was good, but the front desk and breakfast employees were horrible. Atleast fake being nice to your temporary tenants.

I was so confused about billing I payed and needed another night , staff on the first night said to come back and pay the next day. Just took a lot of time at the front desk. Also the coffee maker in the bathroom -? Not a great place for a coffee maker .

Upon arrival I waited 7 minutes for the receptionist to even come in check me in; she was sitting in the dining area and could see me and another lady at the desk waiting to check in I’m assuming it was the manager who told her to come to us to check us in so instantly wasn’t starting off good. During the process of checking in they asked if I had an animal and I did as it is a pet friendly hotel but no where on the site does it list a pet fee so was a little taken back on that; no military discount and wasn’t able to get a alter check out so I stayed less than 24 hours in the hotel because 11 we had to leave. The room was disgusting dust all over the place; stain on my sheets; odd smell and it took well over 10 minutes for the shower water to get remotely warm. Best part was checking out and all the lady did was take my keys and say “bye” so I will not stay again.

I cannot say enough about how cheery, helpful, and kind the hotel staff was. A special shout-out to Keith in maintenance who worked relentlessly until he was able to fix something on our TV. Also, the location of the hotel was just right for the beach. Not walking distance, but only about 4-6 minutes by car. At such a reasonable price, I can't say enough about our stay here. We would definitely recommend!

Nice place to stay. Only a short ride , 1.5 miles to beach.

We stayed here for 5 nights and had a very good experience. We loved how walkable the area was. Our room was clean and quiet and exceeded our expectations. The food truck right next to the hotel was amazing!

Hotel was conveniently located centrally to give access to all there is to do in Fort Walton

The 1st room we were given was dirty, the 2nd room the light switch didn't work and no remote. The night manager was very helpful, and issues were resolved in the morning. The area is out of the way. Poor street lighting and side walks are not well maintained outside the property.

Staff was very friendly, we showed up early and they were able to get us into a room even before check in time which was great after driving for such a long time. The location is great, the surrounding area is clean and safe and out of traffic.

Everyone we dealt with was fine except the person working the breakfast bar and the choices and quality at the breakfast bar aren't good.

Clean rooms, nice staff, good breakfast.

We like the place was very clean smell good, nice place close to the beach. But we don’t like the breakfast no much option to choose than bagels, toast,cereal, waffles, eggs and sausages. There is no fruits or yogurt. When you stayed more than tree days you didn’t want to eat the same thing.

The AC on 4th level wasnt working or on. So it was too hot getting to your room. Then it smelled like underarms without deodorant throught out the first.and 4th floor. The breakfast was the cheapest you can do. Same thing every morning, Sausage patty, egg patty premade, cerial. Waffle,.and pastrys. Orange juice from a bag dispenser.

Breakfast was a little disappointing but overall great place to stay.

I have no complaints it was a great stay! Everything was clean and well kept. Breakfast was your average continental food. It ended at 9am so we had to get up early which wasn’t my favorite. Room cleaning also usually happened early around 9:30/10am so that was early also. So I guess that’s my only gripe is I didn’t sleep in. Front desk was very helpful. I will for sure come back. Restaurants, downtown and the beach were easy drives and it was convenient to stay here and drive to Destin for the day. I preferred the food and boardwalk in Fort Walton for sure.

Hotel is a little older. Breakfast was very very basic. Had hot water but no tea bags. Overall not bad but also very loud.

The variety of breakfast items was very limited. We have stayed here several times in the past and it was better in the past. The lobby furniture is showing it's age and needs to be updated and replaced. Staff seems to be overworked as they are utilized to do check-ins and clean the facility lobby and breakfast area.

First time staying at La Quinta & was very impressed. Comfortable beds. Room is nice and quiet. Housekeepers were friendly & very cooperative. Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. Great choices & always delicious.

Called the hotel en-route advised i would be Arriving late, they were pleasant and said no problem. I am a Wyndham rewards member. I had Reserved a room that "Sleeps 5" (lower floor). it was suposed to be a handicapped accessible walk in shower room (wife had recent knee surgery) with 2 queen beds. And a pull out couch. On arrival the lady seemed very nice but we were given a 3rd floor room... It was late i figured... ok fine they gave out all the 1st floor rooms since i was so late... Got to the 3rd floor and it was just a regular room with 2 full beds instead of 2 queens.. and a chair with no arms instead of a pull out couch. I called downstairs no answer, Called again mentioned the mix up and the lady acted like she did not know what i was talking about. By that time my 2 youngest kids were sound asleep. We were abs not going to get moved.... Just Went to bed.... No hot water on morning 1 Went downstairs for breakfast , grits, hot water, cold egg patties, luke warm sausage patties, the biscuits were great, really great actually. Was hoping for sausage gravy. nope, just a clean empty tray where perhaps it was suposed to be.. (i dont know if they even offer that but wishful thinking) Coffee was good, orange juice was good. Waffle iron looked like it was working well... but no syrup so i went back upstairs. Did not want to argue with staff. So I just dealt with the cards we were given. My wife and I , with our 3 boys made a room with 2 full beds work creatively.
