The hotel was lovely and the room was clean and the bed was very comfy. The only downside with the room was the coffee machine, which didn’t work. The main drawback with the hotel was the time the bar closed!! We ate at the Village Brasserie, which was great, then went out for a few drinks. When we returned to the hotel, before 11pm, for a few drinks at the bar it was all locked up.

Close enough to be able to walk to where I wanted to go. Huge bath, lovely glass of bubbles on arrival, staff on check in were lovely, the man on the desk at 4am didn’t understand when I asked if he had lemonade I could buy. Lifts were out of order, one was sign posted the other we just found out it was out of order when myself and another traveller were stood waiting and no lift came down. Signs to my room needed to be more clear too.

Reception gentleman was rude, Lifts didnt work, so you had to walk up 3x stairs to go and leave rooms (*quite annoying with Baggage). WI-FI was very poor, and ended up having to pay for an EE service to do anything. Screen Sharing didnt work! Overall, really bad experience......

Lovely hotel, absolutely brilliant location. We received a lovely welcome and told about the room. The room itself was fabulous, well decorated and a pleasant place to spend time. The TV was huge, and the bed was extremely comfortable. well stocked mini bar, an Illy Nespresso style machine and great views made the stay even better. We would definitely stay again and highly recommend Velvet to anyone looking for a great hotel within walking distance of the bets bits of the city.

The hotel is perfectly located, it’s quirky and unique! We had a balcony room which as perfect for us. On the downside no room service available, no lift and the hot water was non-existent in the evening (although scalding in the morning!) we had dinner and cocktails in the brasserie which was to die for and the bar was lovely too.

Fantastic location. Very close to Manchester Piccadilly train station. Gay Village area of Manchester. Professional reception staff. Helpful with directions. Beautiful accommodation. Very clean room and bathroom. Toiletries provided. We had an early start in the morning and they provided breakfast in a bag delivered to our room as requested to take on the train. Great variety of items too. Will definitely be returning.

Rooms were small but OK. Breakfast was Continental with no choice and served in the room. Parking was 5 min walk away and £25 per day. With the discount the hotel was offering it came to £46 with a checkin at 11:00am and checkout at 4:00pm the next day. Overall good experience but costly.

The room and bathroom were gorgeous but needed more attention to cleanliness. We found items from a previous guest in the room during our stay. We mentioned the cleanliness to the front desk staff and the staff immediately came up to clean it.

The chek in was easy, quick and straight forward. The hotel is spotless, the room as very big and was a lovely place to relax in, and again spotless. Lovely shower and all in all an excellent experience.

Upon arrival from the airport I was permitted to check in early, which was delightful (until I got to the room). Overall, the condition of the room left much to be desired. For example, the room was dusty, particularly on the shelves. The contents of the mini-bar were less than optimally fresh, as well. Small towels and washcloths were absent from the bathroom and, indeed, absent from the hotel itself. But above all, the lift was broken throughout the duration of my stay. That was particularly inconvenient when, it turned out, my room was on the highest floor. The linens were pressed initially and the bed was relatively comfortable. The carpets need to be replaced. My initial request for a late checkout seems to have been misplaced which was rather inconvenient on the day I checked out. Requests for additional (bath) towels were not promptly acted upon and multiple followups were necessary on two specific occasions. Finally, the noise from the night club adjacent continued late into the evening at a volume that interfered with my sleep. I won't stay here again.

It was okay, the room is beautiful and the bed very comfy but it’s not very clean, next to the bath was old rose petals, the bath robes were stained and one had a large clump of hair in it. The service wasn’t great, the room service menu had no prices and we found out at check out it was £17 for a very average fish and chips. We tried to order some drinks for room service but calls and messages were ignored and we never got them. The mini bar wasn’t stocked and there was a USB from a previous guest left in the tv. Overall not the standard of cleanliness or service you expect at this price point

First off the property is great! Really good location in the centre of Manchester. Fixtures in the hotel are amazing e.g. great bed, amazing bathroom (huge bathtub), coffee machine and tv. Balcony also great!!! However, the hotel is let down by its housekeeping which dampened my experience. For example, under the beds there was used tissues and half a biscuit. There were also several long hours which clearly are not mine. There was Also an earring under the cupboard area. This all suggests that cleanliness needs to be improved. If this was better I would have no issues in offering a five star rating! I would go back for sure if cleanliness was better.

Fantastic location, friendly and polite staff. Noise levels let the accommodation down. However this is due to surrounding bars and clubs until early hours and the following morning waste disposal services. Windows let far too much noise in. Great place for a night out but not so much for a romantic night away.

Room was beautiful. It had plenty of personality and was very clean. The hotel is well situated to things to do, with night life in Canal Street and lots of restuarants, bars and sightseeing within a 10/20 minute walk.

The hotel was nice but the room was definitely not worth the £300 we paid. The room was a little dated and tatty round the edgers. The windows didn’t open so was red and stuffy! Great location and the staff were really friendly.

Booked at short notice for a business trip, reviews were great, pictures looked nice, but this has to be the worst hotel stay I’ve experienced. I checked in late, 11pm, booked breakfast for 7.45. Female lone traveller. Went straight to my room, it was quirky but fine. It was on the 1st floor and overlooked the street. It was a little noisy at first but come midnight it became ridiculous. The music from the nearby club or bar became so loud and whatever bar or club kicked out, everyone was in street, shouting - I could hear every word. Phoned reception, no answer, didn’t want to go to reception that late on my own with loads of men partying and shouting outside. 3am it finally stopped. 7.45am arrived, no breakfast. 8am I phoned reception, restaurant and room service - no answer. 8.15am went down to check out, waited around for someone to appear. Eventually the receptionist appeared, I explained I had been kept awake until 3am and breakfast did not arrive. Whilst she apologised, she did not refund breakfast and told me they have a problem with the bar next door which is meant to shut at 11pm. They have complained to the council about it, but despite knowing they had an issue, they put me in the room directly above it, not at the back. So unless you are there to party, save your money and go to a hotel that cares about guests.

From the moment we arrived the staff were just exceptional. They were warm, welcoming and friendly. We came from London and we were there to party and they had the best energy and great vibes! We were greeted with prosecco and they made sure we were settled quickly. Anything we asked was never too much. Rabab was the most lovely woman and Josh, he was there throughout our whole stay - absolutely incredible customer service - professional and friendly. Its service like this that makes the trip that little bit more special. Thank you so very very much for your impeccable hospitality. We will be back! And because of Velvet’s staff, we wouldn’t stay anywhere else! Oh! And the hotel is beautiful! The rooms were cosy and clean! There was a minibar full with everything we needed. The bed was SO comfortable! Could not fault a single thing!

Great location, friendly/kind staff. Non existent a/c resulted in very uncomfortable stay and poor sleep. Two fans in the room was a tip off. It always felt like a sweat box. My stat should’ve been MUCH better.

The room was fairly nice but let down by simple things such as being unable to stream anything from an iPhone. Wouldn’t normally be an issue but the only app available on the Tv is YouTube, which won’t let you sign in. When we asked reception about this, the response was “yeah it’s just terrestrial tv”. We booked the room because they had large TVs and wanted a quiet night in watching a movie or two after our meal, so this was a let down. The room was in overall decent condition but had a few marks and scratches. Overall not a bad experience but we probably won’t stay again.

The hotel is great. That said, the location is a double edged sword. It is in the heart of the gay district, which is amazing as it’s alive and buzzing with people. With that comes late night clubbing and the music coming through the building is incredibly disruptive. We didn’t get to sleep until 4 AM due to the noise from the nearby nightclubs.Book with caution!

Very nice stay - room aircon wasn’t working initially but moved to an alternative instead and all was well. Credit to Martin on reception for his helpfulness. Wouldn’t bother with the breakfast though - not worth it at all for the price, just a croissant and jam. Many better options locally.

From the moment we arrived the staff were just exceptional. They were warm, welcoming and friendly. We came from London and we were there to party and they had the best energy and great vibes! We were greeted with prosecco and they made sure we were settled quickly. Anything we asked was never too much. Rabab was the most lovely woman and Josh, he was there throughout our whole stay - absolutely incredible customer service - professional and friendly. Its service like this that makes the trip that little bit more special. Thank you so very very much for your impeccable hospitality. We will be back! The hotel was absolutely lovely and right in the gay village and close to all things city center. We arrived very early and they accommodated an early check-in for us which was so much appreciated. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful and the room was exquisite. We’ve already recommended the hotel to our friends.

Payment was take before arrival which I’ve never had through hotels.com before so was a little annoyed as I wanted to use a different card. The woman at reception was rather rude and didn’t want to engage in conversation so we had little info about the hotel. We were give complimentary glasses of Kylie Prosecco which was a nice touch. Upon getting to the flor where our room was o was instantly met with stairs to the room which I had previously contact the property to request accessibility as I have a disability that isn’t obvious to most people. Once we did get into the room it was most definitely not a superior king room as I had booked and was a standard double bed. Very small and the shower still had a step into it. I called reception to explain the issues and again the woman didn’t want to engage with me but a lovely man was sent up to help us move to a more suitable room. The next room was more like what I had actually booked. It was a lovely room, clean and comfortable. A few light bulbs needed changing. Bed was very comfortable. After check out and on the train home I was charged more and also received two emails addressed to someone called Alex. Upon emailing the property they told me I had been charged incorrectly for the room and that was prob the name of an Expedia booking agent. I got no apology and asked them why nobody mentioned any of that to me upon checking out? I was met with I should’ve asked upon check out.., how could I do that afterwards?

Wouldn’t recommend; stayed recently and was given a room that was already occupied by another customer. Moved to another room that was in such bad condition, window handle was broken and detached, window blinds which are mechanical didn’t work, kettle didn’t operate, breakfast didn’t arrive to the room as arranged (as assume because we was moved). Walls were chipped and marked. After speaking to the hotel directly and through hotels.com they accused me of fabricating the issues after I had left. Very dissapointed by this hotel, customer service with dealing with this issue has been horrendous from the hotel side - Hotels.com have been amazing though with the support. Wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone for the price you pay; you expect more and a better response to issues when they arise, to be accused of lying is disrespectful. Not inclusive at all for a hotel on the Canal Street.

Unlike other hotels the Velvet lives up to expectations and delivers what it promises. We were met by a great host and given a glass of Prosecco on check in. One of our rooms wasn’t quite what we expected but we were quickly moved to another room which exceeded expectations and our stay was amazing. We would recommend and so would our friends who we booked the other room for. Great value for money and fabulous rooms!

Room was beautiful. It had plenty of personality and was very clean. The hotel is well situated to things to do, with night life in Canal Street and lots of restuarants, bars and sightseeing within a 10/20 minute walk.

The hotel is great. That said, the location is a double edged sword. It is in the heart of the gay district, which is amazing as it’s alive and buzzing with people. With that comes late night clubbing and the music coming through the building is incredibly disruptive. We didn’t get to sleep until 4 AM due to the noise from the nearby nightclubs.Book with caution!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Velvet Hotel. It was a great location- convenient to Piccadilly train station, lots of easy public parking around, and tons of fun bars right downstairs! Even though it is on a very lively street, we never heard any noise from it at night. Also very walkable to other great restaurants and nightlife in the North Quarter. Highly recommend for a stay in Manchester. Recommendations for restaurants and bars: Federal Cafe Bar, Mackie Mayor, Blockbusters NQ, Soho, The Millstone, Another Heart to Feed, Night Cap, Rudy's Pizza, Oscar's, O'Shea's, Pollen Bakery, The Brewers, and The Lost Dene. Nice stay overall but let down by a couple of things. We ate in the brasserie on Thursday night but the service was very poor. Slow, didn’t take drink order until the food order and didn’t offer us a dessert or the bill. We had to chase this. We were in room 26 and it was a bit tired. Loose tiles on the floor in the bathroom, A lot of scuffs and marks on the furniture and the carpet could do with being replaced as it was worn. The TV also didn’t work properly. Freeview channels were constantly glitching. The bed was very comfortable and the rooms were quiet. The area was nice and central but we wouldn’t stay at this hotel again.

The hotel was lovely and the room was clean and the bed was very comfy. The only downside with the room was the coffee machine, which didn’t work. The main drawback with the hotel was the time the bar closed!! We ate at the Village Brasserie, which was great, then went out for a few drinks. When we returned to the hotel, before 11pm, for a few drinks at the bar it was all locked up.

The hotel is perfectly located, it’s quirky and unique! We had a balcony room which as perfect for us. On the downside no room service available, no lift and the hot water was non-existent in the evening (although scalding in the morning!) we had dinner and cocktails in the brasserie which was to die for and the bar was lovely too.

Rooms were small but OK. Breakfast was Continental with no choice and served in the room. Parking was 5 min walk away and £25 per day. With the discount the hotel was offering it came to £46 with a checkin at 11:00am and checkout at 4:00pm the next day. Overall good experience but costly.

Absolutely fantastic room and staff, a warm welcome and great location. Great that breakfast is delivered to your room as a standard, but not one to get excited about, it was a disappointing continental as far as continentals go and definitely not worth the money I'm afraid.
