Had to stay in town due to my residence being tented for termite fumigation. We were bringing all of our food with us and finding a kitchen in Ventura turned out to be challenging as most were just kitchenettes. The initial hotel of interest was booked before I could make a reservation and that made the Viking Hotel the only option. As it turned out, we were not relegated and really enjoyed the room. Wood floors, tile in the kitchen and bathroom, refrigerator and freezer, table to eat at with chairs, with utensils as well as dishes in the cupboards, and a sizeable sink. Cooking food is no problem whether you are using the oven, range top, toaster oven, or microwave. The king bed is huge and there is ample space for clothes in the dresser or personal effects in the night stands. One valuable, yet underrated item, is chairs to sit down in that are comfortable and can be easily re-positioned. In all, if you are doing a temporary relocation from home or just on the road with a preference for more than a basic room, the Viking Hotel has you covered with all the essentials for your stay. Its good to know there is parking in the back of the building in the alleyway if spots are taken. Honestly, the alley is easier to access and you can utilize the traffic light on San Clemente for left turns. If you have any issues the staff is on top of things and will accommodate you in a prompt manner. For these reasons, I would undoubtedly recommend this place to anyone staying in Ventura.

I chose Viking Motel mainly because it had a kitchen. However, I was surprised to find that there wasn't even a sponge for washing dishes. There was also no cutting board, no scissors, and the only spoon provided was a tiny teaspoon. In the end, I had to wash the dishes using paper towels and my hands. What made it even more frustrating was seeing a warning that guests would be charged a fee if the kitchen was not left clean. It's unreasonable to expect guests to clean properly when basic kitchen supplies aren't even provided. The room was also extremely noisy because of traffic, making it difficult to relax or sleep. On top of that, when I opened the curtains, people in the room directly across could easily see inside, so there was very little privacy. The air conditioner was old and yellowed, and there wasn't even a remote control. The room was spacious, but that was about the only positive thing. Overall, the kitchen facilities, amenities, and overall experience were very disappointing. I would not recommend staying here.

Stayed in room 18. Outside entry door was some trash and lots if leaves and looked messy. Inside kitchen window curtin filthy. Seating furniture old and seemed not clean. Missing some plates and glasses and bowls but manager said not to worry even though room poster says $350.00 charge for missing items. Toaster did not work. Manager said should have tried another outlet. Shower was awesome but shower curtin should be replaced. Kitchen a benefit. Bed comfortable. Park in front of room door was nice.
