The Lemonfield Hotel

Check-in was easy, the room was clean and tidy with good facilities except for clothes stowage for a long stay, i.e. more than a couple of days. The drinks facility was topped up daily, without having to ask which was nice nowadays. The bathroom fittings were modern and in good order with an excellent shower. We did not use the breakfast facility as we were visiting relatives nearby and there was no evening meal provision. Parking was fine, a disabled slot had been added since our last visit which took up one space that was never used during our stay which was for 3 nights.

Pity the breakfast option wasn't available (due to unforeseen circumstances) but there are plenty cafes, restaurants etc on the doorstop that do the job just as well.

Lovely stay very friendly staff love the room no noise from other rooms bathroom was amazing nice and clean, only thing that was missing was a iron in the room but you could order it from reception would definitely stay again.

Really good check in. Just some work tools cleaning products left in landing areas and a hole in the wall behind the curtain. None of this affected my stay. I was upgraded to a better room on arrival.

Stayed one night in a single guest room. The room was a nice size and was very clean and comfortable. Warm, too, with a view towards the sea. Friendly reception which meant I felt at home, right away. If I'm ever in the area again, the Lemonfield will be the number one choice for me. Hopefully I'll be able to stay a bit longer next time, too!

Communal areas a bit dated. But clean and warm welcome.

The hotel was lovely, we had the Margaret room with a four poster bed and a great view of the coast. Hotel staff very attentive and friendly. We both had an excellent sleep and our breakfast next morning was superb. My husband even left his cash in the bed and the rang me and contacted me through Hotel.com to alert us to this.

We had a fab room on the top floor overlooking the sea. The fridge was a real treat. The bed is comfy.

Have always enjoyed Lemonfields. However this time was a little cold as the weather changed and the heating wasn't on in the early evening.

Walking distance from a sports bar pub & a nice Indian, other restaurants around the area as well. Very reasonable price for what you get. Will probably use again next time i am up.

My room was ready early so I was able to check in ahead of time. Comfortable room & bed. Good shower. Fridge was a bonus! Close to sea - could see from window 😀

Pleasant enough place just off the sea. Less than 10 minutes drive to get into Sunderland. Bed was really comfortable.

Ideal place to stay for the coast and the local area. Comfy room with a good size bathroom. A fridge also with all the little extras you need.

Nicely located B&B just off the seafront. Owner was welcoming on arrival but didn’t see them much after that as we stayed only a couple of nights. Our double room was clean and had amenities you’d expect, tea/coffee facilities. Downside was the bed was actually 2 single mattresses/beds pushed together and one mattress was not comfy. Also walls are thin so can hear people in other rooms talking. Shower was nice and powerful. We didn’t stay for breakfast so can’t comment on it.

It was a car-free trip, but as the bus station was nearby, it wasn't as inconvenient as I'd expected. The lady at reception was very kind. Very comfortable room. Having a fridge was also a great help.

Great location near the seafront and good value for money. I had somehow missed the fact that check-in was only up to 8pm and was half an hour late. Luckily the hotel phoned to check up on me and I wasn't too far away. Even though they had to wait for me, I still received a very warm welcome. I was only in the area overnight before a race the next day but I would definitely stay here again.

The Lemonfield had a very clean, fresh, modern bedroom, comfortable and quiet (but see below), a bright and clean breakfast room and was very conveniently situated for walks along the beach and places to eat and drink. Areas that need addressing are - a) the bedside lamps are impossible to read by, provide very little light and, really, serve no useful purpose; they need replacing with practical ones, b) the extractor fan in the bathroom continues for 20 minutes once the bathroom has been left; this does not help getting back to sleep after a night-time visit; unfortunately, it is triggered by motion sensor rather than the light switch so it is impossible to go into the bathroom without setting it off, c) an improved method of ordering breakfast is needed, perhaps by leaving a completed form the night before; on my arrival, I ordered breakfast for the next morning but hadn't decided on continental or full for the second morning so left my decision; on my first day, arriving back late afternoon, there was nobody to take my order for the next morning but I assumed I'd be able to order (and pay for it) in the morning - unfortunately not; when I came down to breakfast on the second morning the dining room was empty, no food or drinks laid out and nobody around (the owners do not live on site); although two 'phone numbers are left for emergencies, I didn't really think the situation stretched to that (but was very disappointed). If these could be addressed, I would give 5 stars.

A lovely little place and the owners son who checked us in was super friendly. He made sure we had everything we needed and the next morning for breakfast he was exactly the same. We had a lovely view from our room and our bed was super comfortable. Very nice stay overall. The breakfast was very nice too.

Apart from an extremely comfortable bed there wasn't anything else that I can rave about. Stood at the door waiting to enter. Reception looked like someone's 1980's house. I didn't really get a great feel for security. My bank details were asked for, which I'm still uncomfortable about and another guest seemed to think that asking me for milk whilst I was exiting the property with my bag, seemed reasonable. I won't stay over again. I am still flummoxed as to their rating.

Very friendly welcome & got an upgrade for one night, it would have been for 3 nights but a birthday party of people had previously booked for that weekend, we enjoyed the very relaxed atmosphere of the hotel, all in all a great place to stay in Seaburn, 🤗🤗🤗

Previously stayed there and booked up again for my visit to see family.As before the room was exactly what I had before.Comfortable and clean,tea and coffee restocked every day and a very quiet hotel.Will definitely stay again. A two minute walk and your on the promenade,excellent view and great sandy beach.Plenty of places to eat and drink.

Great little hotel to stay within a minutes walk if the beach. Only 15 minutes walk to the Metro line. Very clean, comfortable and relaxing atmosphere

Fantastic from start to finish! Very friendly staff and great accommodation, ideally situated just a stone’s throw from the sea front, we will definitely be coming back!

A nice little hotel, close to the seaside and centre of Whitburn.

Three of us stayed in two rooms between 19th - 22nd Feb as we were visiting nearby relatives. The hotel is very nicely decorated, clean and well presented. It's just a short walk to the beach which can be seen from some rooms. The beds were clean and comfy and towels were changed during our stay. The showers were great as the hot water had plenty of pressure and came through quickly. Our rooms had tea, coffee and biscuits provided. Elect sockets were located just where we needed them. But the best bit were the breakfasts - we were stuffed for most of the day after having the full English! These were an extra charge but the best value for money we've ever had. The choice was either continental or the full monty (it includes the continental if you've got a very big appetite), which was perfectly cooked and served along with toast and a pot of tea or coffee in the lovely dining room. Just a short walk away in Queen's Parade, are several restaurants and we highly recommend Shagorika (Indian) and Santino's (Italian). Next time we visit our relatives, we won't bother to look for any other hotel because it won't beat this one for value for money.

This hotel has all the making of a boutique hotel. Don’t be fooled by what you see externally or for the matter the entrance hallway, this owner has spent her money well and for the comfort of her guests, the upper priced rooms (but reasonably priced) are well worth the booking, the morning breakfast at £12.50 is always worth booking, prepared fresh and just as you like it. The hotel doesn’t sell food at night, this isn’t deliberate for any other reason bar their neighbours who think living in Million pound homes gives them the right object and stop this little hotel serving delicious eastern food. Shame on the neighbours and council.

We stayed (out of season) for 1 night to go to an event at the Souter Light House next day. Despite arriving quite early we were made welcome and given immediate access to one room (the other was being cleaned). The dining and bedrooms stood out as bright, fresh and modern with comfortable beds. In early January the only other guest left early next morning. This is a family business run by the lady owner. Unfortunately her daughter (who helps when free) forgot to pass on our breakfast order and next morning the owner was off-site. She made a special effort to return quickly and willingly cooked for us. When in the area we will aim to stay again.

Lovely stay at this small hotel .Ideal for a break in Seaburn/Roker .Short walk to bars and plenty of places to eat .Room was lovely ,staff very friendly and attentive .Breakfast wasn't included in the price but we paid extra and it was worth it .Would definitely return .

We had a lovely stay. Right from booking, the owners couldn’t have been any more helpful. The room was small but perfect for what we wanted it for and it was spotless!! Breakfast is worth the extra charge - gorgeous!!!

from the greeting on my arrival until the time i left, nothing was too much trouble. topped off with a great breakfast!
