Stayed 4 nights

The actual hotel is good and in a good position. A semi premium price paid though which perhaps was not worth doing. It would seem however though that the hotel has been forced to cut overheads by cutting the intended services due I presume to the hotel being on the periphery of the town centre and zero foot traffic from intended customers. The downstairs bar usually shut. The restaurant menu seemed to have no focus and an overmuch selection of somewhat strange bizarre offerings. Went up for a drink early evening early in our stay and searching for the sun , and passing 4 staff doing absolutely nothing ( no customers) we found ourselves out on the seated balcony area, took a seat on the outermost 10% of the seats that were in the sun. The walk presented some safety issues as 75% was paved but the outermost 25% of the walkway was gravelled and sat an inch or so lower than the paved area so that twice I stumbled into the 3ft -4ft high enclosing path surround. We sat for 10 mins as we presumed table service, and returned to the same 4 staff to get a drinks list ( there had been none at any of the many outside seats we passed), and asked the staff if it was table service and told No” . Returning to our seats and perusing the drinks list we found the bar list wasn’t sufficiently interesting to make a selection, and went back to order a Disarano and Advocat/ Lemonade. They dont stock it. Back our table looking for a gin that was familiar. No- forced to order 2 £9 unknown gins.

Stayed 1 night

After a recent accident I required a room with walk in shower, the hotel was extremely helpful providing two bathrooms one walk in shower and the other a very large bathroom which could accommodate a wheelchair. As a stranger to Chester, found it very difficult to find the underground car park. Did mention this to the Receptionist on check out, the sign is so small it’s difficult to locate.
