Hotel in good situation easy walking to city centre and transport links, parked my car for 3 nights in( Q park on first st nice car park felt really secure recommended only 5 min walk to hotel ). hotel clean and tidy staff very helpful, good English cooked breakfast lots of it, my room was clean and tidy nice bathroom, 25 min walk to AO arena, would stay again.

Easy stop over basic hotel for a central a Manchester stay. All as you would expect for a HI. Clean but basic. Felt VERY cramped in our room with sofa bed for kids down. Breakfast not the best but warm. Again, breakfast room VERY cramped- too small for the amount of guests. One lift not working - not great for a high rise hotel. That being said, value of money was good for what we needed. I wasn't expecting luxury as I didn't pay for it. Staff very polite and helpful. Parking available at extra discounted cost just a few mins walk from hotel.

Room 601 is larger than average. Double bed was small. Unable to open windows but air con was reasonably efficient and did not keep us awake. Hotel is conveniently located, a short walk from city centre. Breakfast was awful. Poor selection. Poor quality bacon, sausages etc all poorly cooked. One of the worst breakfasts i have had in a hotel in Europe: beaten only by travelodge at euston! Lack of car park is a disadvantage as parking in secure locations in Manchester is very expensive

Serious maintenance and TLC required, with regards to safety and operating a single lift long term (utter rubbish that the other lift is being improved). Appears it’s been this way since March at least! In the event a lift fails with people inside, change policies to allow staff to open the lift to get them out. Rightly so the hotel refunded our stay, however it’s knocked my confidence staying at a Holiday Inn Express again. The franchisee needs to make improvements, fast.

Room was not ready at 3.15pm. When checkin started at 3pm with no apology. No tables at breakfast and huge queues .Must uncomfortable bed ever. Lifts took forever to come.

Lots of people come and go especially during the breakfast and check out hours, but only one lift is operating, not to say the room key card doesn’t work well for the lift. Some guests take the staircase instead. The drainage system of the bathroom is awful.

We booked in after 3.30pm and given a room. Went up and the room was,not cleaned. The house cleaning said cant go in and will have to wait. He was not polite. Went back to reception and they gave us another room. Went to the room and the key would not work. Went back to reception and they sorted the key. In the morning went down to breakfast. No clean tables so left without breakfast.

The hotel is quite tired. The room I had needs a refurb as the carpet, despite them saying had been professionally cleaned, was disgusting. The sofa arms and back were disgusting as was the remote control. The office chair was caked in something white and had not even been wiped. However the bathroom and sheets were very clean. The matress was old and sagged in the middle so I was glad I was travelling alone. Breakfast was quite basic, the coffee machine awful and the sausages very overcooked. The hotel was very noisy with me being able to hear water pipes and aircon most of the time. I was also awoken each night by banging and creaking doors. This was exasperated by the 45 mins of the bin wagon emptying commercial bins at 10.30pm. When I told the staff about the room, they were already overbooked so couldn't move me but offered to change the office chair and said they'd award me some reward points.

It was okay, the room was at first glance tidy, but closer inspection there was popcorn on the floors under the beds, packets of chocolate under the beds plus a cup, so overall it wasn’t the best for cleanliness and in one of the party districts it was noisy.

Stayed 2 Nights, Check in went smoothly and met by manager Steve who was friendly and checked us in with all our requests and was very helpful. Our room was very clean tidy and quiet so we had a good nights sleep on both nights. Shower was hot and powerful. Breakfast was maintained and staff constantly kept the area tidy. Check out was a breeze and Shamilla was friendly and stored our cases for later. Can't fault the service here everyone worked hard and was friendly including the maids.

Long weekend stay for site seeing and Marathon. The Hotel is in a great location to het into city. The room was comfortable & clean but needed a little tidying up maintenance. We found you could hear the traffic & noise outside with the street facing room & also being opposite the lift we could hear people talking outside & the lift chime. Would ask for a different room if we stayed again.

The bed in room 511 was not fit for the waste/rubbish bin. We were scared that the bed was going to fall apart. When i sat on my side of the bed, it "tilted" my wife towards me. It almost felt like a waterbed, we thought it was going to fall apart. We eventually put the mattress on the floor, so that we could get a better night sleep. We should get back a full refund for this stay.

The tv didn’t work , and the bed seriously needed replacing , very uncomfortable. Lots of noise from banging doors at night , soft closing doors could be better. Breakfast ok but could be a bit more organised. Bathrooms clean & tidy.

We were double booked , so we did not stay at the Holiday Inn express , Oxford Rd Manchester. I was not told about this double booking until we tried to check in. I think this very poor communication. However the Holiday Inn staff apologised. Luckily the alternative hotel was just over the road and 4 star and very good, so all was well.

We were given a room and found there was someone in bed in that room. The Basin plug was jammed closed but did drain very slowly. The shower was size was freat but the water pressure not so. The staff wete friendly and helpful.

I tried to contact the hotel by email before arrival to ask about parking recommendations but all emails were ignored & the main hotel phone number was a premium rate number which I refused to call just because they ignored my emails.

we arrived and they taken us to a dirty room, then when we had been given a new room the key only worked once. we had to go down and get them fixed multiple times. then they took our keys off us as the keys completely stopped working so we had to get escorted to the room every time to get into it however they didn’t give us a key for the lights so we were sat in darkness for a whole day. they then told us breakfast finishes at 12 and we come down at 11 and they then have no food out and have packed everything away and they said that breakfast finishes at 10. some staff were helpful however some staff were very rude and judgemental and is not appreciated. we would like a full refund as our experience has been very poor

Right around the corner from the Oxford Train Station and just block from both Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Manchester. A nice walk to great shopping area - Manchester Arndale, close to the Piccadilly station. Lots of coffee shops, pubs, etc. Room was a very good size and quiet. Host breakfast with cereals, yoghurt and other items available. Very nice front desk staff.

A nice hotel, near university, the city centre, shops, restaurants. Friendly staff. Very good breakfast buffet. The only downside is the noise, either at the hall or neighbouring room. If you're sensitive to that, get an earplugs. Overall it's nice hotel and will definitely come back.

Great hotel, great location, we were going to a gig at Gorilla..3 min walk. Car park nearby and not overly expensive (I've paid a lot more to stay and park in Manchester)...Bit of a walk if you want to go into the main shopping area.

Breakfast was good, the only negative was the hash browns, they are kept in an open dish, which means they cool down very quickly, they were barely warm whilst the sausage, bacon and scrambled eggs were hot, also the tomatoes weren’t grilled they were also cold

Breakfast was poor. Not as advertised at all. Dirty tables. Very little choice. Unpleasant artificial ‘fruit juice’, tasteless coffee. If you like waiting around in lift lobbies for overcrowded lifts to arrive at your floor then this is the place for you.

This is a nice hotel located quite central to everything and really close to Oxford train station (fast way to airport, Old Trafford etc) The hotel was good enough for the price you'd pay, but the breakfast was really bad. It had only what you think of as English breakfast, but nothing more. No fruit, no variants of ham/cheese or what so ever. It's good enough for a partytrip, but nothing else :)

I was so happy with this hotel. I booked a “budget” hotel so wasn’t expecting too much, but this honestly surpassed my expectations. The whole hotel was clean, rooms were a great size, the complimentary breakfast was lovely and the staff were all very friendly. I definitely would return!

Beds very small. One had sheets which didn't fit the bed. One bed had no plug socket nearby. Breakfast item's were cold. Room key card stopped working and had to be reset at reception.

Room was nice & just what we needed. Only downside, breakfast. We went down for breakfast at 9am. Breakfast served 6:30-9:30. The empty tables were full of food that no one had cleaned, plates etc. so no one could sit down. We had to ask the woman at reception to clear them for us. There was 1 lad working to clean all the tables. She was very apologetic. Breakfast was ok, standard breakfast I suppose but did the job!
