There are the best onsen at Hakone Yumoto!! Low temperature sauna is my favorite. The main onsen tub has the gentle bubbles and also Jet bus. It’s not a common. Highly recommend.

Overall good stay, great baths (especially the outdoor wooden bath), simple but fun kids area for our child, and accommodations were comfortable. Extremely convenient hotel location, at hakone yumoto station, which is 2 minutes by foot. Bonus for tatami area for sleeping on futons. The property is a bit rundown with evidence of wear and tear, and bathroom in our room wasn’t the cleanest.

Japanese style room was really large, very comfortable and clean. Beautiful view of the valley. Staff were friendly. The onsen was uncrowded and clean, very peaceful in the forest. Breakfast was a bit chaotic but the staff did their best to keep it flowing. The lobby bar has good cocktails and a professional bartender. Overall definitely recommend as a “home base” for the Hakone round course/freepass.

Room is old and smells bad. Room service starts at 7-8am so if you miss that time, you have to ask the front desk to send them back. Building structure is weird. If you stay at the Japanese-style wing, you have to walk basically across the whole building to go down to the main hall. Restaurants are a puzzle for you to resolve if you ever want to eat something there. They were so hard to reserve a seat. No info, no instruction, no one told us how to make a reservation despite us asking every single restaurant and even the front desk. There was an izakaya bar where the server just straight up kick us out. We ended up walking all the way out to the town for food. The whole hotel has ONLY 1 washer and 1 dryer, so good luck if you want to do that mid-trip laundry. 3 stars for being next to the train station and for the onsen bath. However I won’t be coming back. With the price you pay, there are better options in Hakone than this one.

Stayed one night and a traditional Japanese room. The room was spacious (for Japanese standards) and clean. Balcony with View and sounds of the rushing river. The highlight of the hotel is definitely the onsen. Multiple indoor and outdoor bathing/soaking opportunities. We spent time in both public and private sections. Private was ¥2000 for 45 minutes. Also, a dry sauna, relaxing room, and massage chairs. Very helpful staff who gave a restaurant recommendation – – which was one of our favorite restaurants in all of Japan.

This hotel is although old but it is very nice. The surrounding is serene & beautiful. The staff members are friendly and helpful. The only slight oversight was when the housekeeper missed out on a few minor details such as not taking away dirty cups & used glasses, not replacing the same number of towels. Otherwise, it was a perfect stay.

We are given a very small room for 3 adults in the side building. Barely able to stand 3 persons beside the 3 beds, let alone to lay open luggages. The toilet flush bang noisily at 120dB when flushed. Quiet room though. Outdoor onsen so small that it can only accomodates 2 persons.

There is an indoor and outdoor hot spring that is kept in good condition. There are not many good food options surrounding the hotel. The wifi was very spotty and kept on disconnecting and refusing to connect.

The staff are top notch, and the hotel is right near the Hakone Yumoto line with multiple options for travel that use the Hakone Free Pass. There are many restaurants near. Bathroom was a little dated, but everything was immaculate. Would recommend.

Front desk was pleasant. Japanese styled room was beautiful, clean and spacious. Previously reserved a dinner reservation for a sukiyaki and a kaiseki course. It was planned that my friend doesn’t eat seafood so we reserved different meals for dinner. Had no idea why we were both given kaiseki menu, when asked when we could change her menu, they said no - quite harshly at that. I’m quite questioned why they didn’t get the reservation details properly. Ended up having to eat the seafood. This is my only disappointment.

The location close to Yumoto station was convenient with two elevators to make it easy. The riverside walk was picturesque and refreshing and the restaurants were very reasonably priced with great food (Unagi was amazing). The hotel was a bit disappointing. I didn’t enjoy the breakfast experience. A dark room with so-so food and overly officious staff who seemed disapproving. The bed was like a wooden plank. But the place was safe and quiet and the elderly Japanese guests were charming.

The grounds are beautiful; there is a river outside the hotel so very nice. The hotel staff spoke better English than any of the other hotels which was nice as well. Shibata Yasuhiko was excellent and so accommodating.

The property is central in the Yumoto area, very close to the station, with a convenient elevator at the base of the cliff and end of the bridge leading from the station. The facilities are expansive and well adorned. The problem came with communication - I left something in the room and, after I checked out, I both phoned and emailed them but did not get any response. I also asked Expedia to help me follow up with the hotel but got no response from it either. It really lowered my impression of the hotel. In comparison, the hotel Hakone Airu were very responsive.

The air conditioning in my room was broken and the staff were good and changed my room. They didn't change the number and so the private bath I booked caused confusion and mis communication and ended up with me missing out. The front desk manager did apologise to me personally.

while the hotel amenities were nice the service was really bad. The breakfast serving room is way too small for the very large number of guests. As if this is not bad enough, they have only one coffee machine, where the waiting time was ridiculously large. In general, the vast majority of the staff does not understand, let alone speak English. As a result every interaction with the hotel staff takes 10 times longer than the typical time. We had two incidents where we through our hands in the air, giving up on making any progress at all. We will definitely not come back to this hotel and we cannot recommend on this hotel with this poor management.

We had a fantastic stay at this property. The location can’t be better: near the main shopping/restaurants in the area and the train station. Happy we stayed here rather than up in Gora, which would have made travel and food more difficult. We got a private bath, which we enjoyed. We also splurged on the kaiseiki meal, which we enjoyed immensely. Breakfast was also very good: more western options than we expected. We had the updated Japanese/Western room and thought it was luxurious. I’ve seen others complain thing were worn and old-fashioned but we didn’t really find that the case. Highly recommended

二連泊しました。 1.朝食の内容が2日間、全く同じでがっかりしました。そうと知っていたら外出先で食べたのに。品数も少なすぎます。2日目は土曜日でそこそこ朝食も混んでいましたが、スタッフの対応が間に合わず、飲み物のグラスも空っぽ、対応が間に合わず、ドリンク周辺は人で溢れていました。 2.フロント横に立っている案内の女性に夕食の件をたずねても答えられずいちいちフロントカウンターのスタッフに聞いている始末。 3.正面玄関のドア付近に2人の男性が立っていますが、プライベートの無駄話で盛り上がっていました。(その近くで喫煙をした際、聞こえてしまいました。仕事中に如何なものでしょうか？) 4.2階の喫煙所の近くにあるテーブルに、飲みかけのグラスが夜から置きっぱなしです。結局、翌日のチェックアウトの時間までそのままでした。お風呂に移動する通路になっているのに、ホテルのスタッフの誰一人も見回りをしていないのですね。総合的に、残念な施設です。富士屋ホテルというネームバリュウから間違いないだろううと思っていましたが、もう、2度と利用したくありませんし、人にも進めません。 2連泊、2部屋で20万円ほどの支払いをしたのに… 息子が誕生日プレゼントに用意してくれた大事な旅行だったのにとても残念です。
