The hotel was very walkable to downtown, but with all the homeless around, I don't think I felt very safe. Not the hotel's fault. The room itself was clean and comfortable. The hotel was really cool looking, being historic and all, but it really smelled old. Not terrible, just like you old grandmother's basement. The breakfast didn't have a lot of options. But there are a lot of restaurants nearby. There is an outdoor pool, but it was too cold for that. I would probably stay here again. If we were in town.

Historically, the Eureka Inn is a treasure to wonder around inside and imagine how elegant it was. Now, it is tired but not shabby, yet. Our room was clean and fully functional, although the bathroom had very little counter space. Unfortunately, the hotel is "dead". There was a very upscale dining room and a very nice restaurant onsite. Unfortunately, both closed during the pandemic and neither has ever reopened. There is a lobby bar, but it is closed Mon - Wed when we were there. There are very few restaurants near the hotel. The Eureka Inn no longer warrants the room prices.

It is a beautiful historic inn. The location does not much up to the hotel but there is good security What I particularly did not like was the human interaction at the Inn. The receptionists talked to each other during our transaction as if we did not exist. They were not helpful with restaurant and cafe services within the hotel and they put a stain on the beauty and pride of the hotel itself.

The property was built in 1922 in a bygone era. Beautiful hall but there is no AC for example and limited outlets in the rooms. Breakfast was nice, nothing fancy but OK. Only issue we had was the elevator didn't work one morning, later in the day when we returned, was OK. No on site restaurant.

Beautiful place! Lots of history. Lounge open Thursday-Sunday, but staff allowed us to enjoy a bottle of wine by the great fireplace. Lots of wood and leather. Close to several restaurants if you arrive during the week. Hours change seasonally. Loved our stay.

Place is so neat ! Will definitely stay there again. Down fall the restaurant was closed permanently at the hotel. The pool and hotel were closed as well.

The room was dirty when we checked in. They moved us to another room. It’s a historic inn and has a lot of old smells with it. The place has charm but not as clean as hoped. For the price the continental breakfast could have been better.

At first arrival, we checked our room and really liked the environment until night when we checked the shower and there was a visible glob of hair on the shower wall. This hair was not ours so it made us second guess the cleanliness of the hotel, although we really wanted to like it.

Beautiful historic building. Clean, great mattress . Dirty laundry in hall entire stay near my room. (large amount) . Mentioned pm and am to desk clerk. They apologized. Was still there when left. Note housekeeping was cleaning rooms. Dirty laundry still there.

Pros: Central to many things in town Parking is free Historic hotel Beds are good Cons: No daily room service Stained sheets No AC No fan in bathroom No full length mirror No cable tv, just free Roku w/TV Broken toilet seat Floors haven’t been mopped in ages Don’t expect much from breakfast Went to the front desk and ask for an additional set of towels. The front desk guy had to deliver them. We did not see any cleaning/room service people or carts for 4 days. Expensive for the service, or lack there of, you are receiving.

The hotel is fun with all the famous people that visited. The reason I rated it terrible is because I stayed in #312 and the bathroom was fully stained of MOLD. I couldn’t sleep all night because I was thinking about it. Also the shower could use a good update. Also my husband’s Travis Mathew shirt was left behind and it was “not found”.

Nice hotel but room lighting is very dim. Bath area is so small and the only mirror area is over the bathroom sink, therefore it’s difficult for two people to get dressed at the same time. It would have been nice to at least have a wall mirror in the room.

Fun historic Inn. So much history in one building. The staff was amazing. Restaurant was closed and the bar had very limited hours. There is no a/c in the room, but luckily the coastal breeze cooled the room down.

Arrived 30min before check in and was refused early check in, not because the room wasn't ready staff not very friendly. Room small, bathroom door doesn't open all the way hits the toilet. Pillows very flat. We did like the historical aspect of this hotel.

Beautiful lobby, but tiny rooms. This hotel might have really been something back in the early 1900s, a little dated and even creepy now, gave 'The Shining' vibes. At first I couldn't find the bathroom in the hotel room, then I opened what I thought was the closet and found it was the bathroom. Bed was comfortable and it was reasonably quiet, but I guess I'm used to 20th/21st century size rooms

When i checked in i realized I made an error and booked the previous night. The front desk clerk said she had charged my credit card as a "no show" and would not apply some or all of the charge to the night I actually arrived. I ended up paying another night. I feel ripped off. I've stayed at this hotel several times, it's very quiet (6 people in the lobby is a crowd) so I'm sure I didn't deprive another guest of a room. In my business I would never charge someone for a service I didn't provide. The Eureka Inn shouldn't have either.

The hotel had a lot of character and history which was great. The room was clean and spacious. They did not have sufficient staff which resulted with my having to come to the front desk to pick-up extra towels and insufficient food available at the breakfast buffet. When checking out I requested a final bill and the clerk replied I am on a call and you will have to wait about 15 minutes. He was speaking with either corporate or management about operational numbers. What happened to customer care?

It's a great property, classic old hotel. You can imagine women in ball gowns and men in tuxedos sitting in the lobby around the fireplace or having a cocktail in the bar. Our room was very comfortable but there were only two towels for three people. The body wash and conditioner was empty. We let the desk know and nothing was refilled and we still only had two towels. That was a little disappointing. I will stay there again, but I hope they figure out the housekeeping situation.

We love the Eureka Inn, but the woman at the desk (a short/wide woman with straight brown hair with a bad attitude) was purposely mean to us: When we first arrived, we pulled our car up to the front door with steep steps, and when I told her I had luggage and a handicapped person on a walker, and asked if there was another way in, she told me ‘most people just come in the front door’, which was a blatant lie. There’s an accessible ramp in the back of the building that would have prevented forcing an elderly woman.with CP to have to climb (with my assistance) that steep front stairwell. As well as me, at 71 years old, to carry the heavy luggage up the steps as well. We’re polite and considerate people; this was inexplicable. Of course, I discovered the back entrance later, so we used it on our second checkin a week later, and all other staff were very friendly and helpful.

Nice old Historic Hotel, with a great history and story. But, you definitely have to drive for food/beverage. There are numerous one way roads and steep hills. Also there is an obvious homeless problem in this town, very sad.

Receptionist was friendly, decor overall was nostalgic, parking in gated lot a huge plus considering the large population of homeless people. There were several people living in the front bushes and encountered a few mentally unstable individuals when walking across the street to get some food. And got woken up at 1:50am to a very violent physical assault right below our window. If you can avoid Eureka I highly recommend doing so, but if you must stay here I would say this is your safest choice considering where the other hotels are located.

Hotel itself is beautiful Victorian with a great breakfast BUT very unsafe neighborhood. We decided to leave after 2 nights and staff refused to reimburse us for the 3rd night stating a 24 hour notice was needed ??? How was i supposed to know in advance i felt unsafe ?? Lesson learned. Should have been a red flag when the parking lot was fenced in with camera's everywhere.

Interesting hotel with a lot of history. Unfortunately the rooms are dated and the walls are paper thin. It's already difficult sleeping in an unfamiliar place but I was awoken by neighbors on both sides. The front desk is fabulous and friendly to tourists. Breakfast options are lacking, at the time I stayed there were no hot food options.

This hotel is charming because it is a vintage establishment and has a great history of important people staying there. They commemorate these people portraits hanging on the walls. The staff was pleasant enough. The lack of counter space in the bathrooms was kind of a problem, but I looked past this because the rooms were cute and charming. The breakfast was pretty good for being continental.

Room was terrific, disappointed that on a weekend breakfast only available till 9:30. No one wants to rush down to try and grab food before they are even awake. I felt horrible for the poor elderly couple who showed up at 9:25 and food was quickly taken away and coffee put away when they just wanted a little something. 11:00 is a standard time for breakfast cutoff on a weekend. period.
