Everything about this hotel was amazing. The staff, the location, the view! I felt like the location was pretty central to all the must see spots. They are accommodating in helping you find tours and the made to order breakfast was delicious! I would highly recommend paying extra for it. The only downfall is all the stairs. You do have to cline up to the main floor 2 flights of stairs and if you have any physical issues request a room on the same floor as the elevator. All the staff was amazing. Thank you all for a wonderful stay! We will be back!

We enjoyed our stay. It is an order hotel, which is common in this town. We have stayed in many of the hotels in Guanajuato and this is one of the older ones. But its rustic charm did not deter us from having a wonderful time ps—There’s no elevator from the ground floor to the first floor.

My room was very cold. Mini split did not work, they brought an electric heater, we had to move ir around, shower very cold, breakfast very simple, lots and lots of stairs, elevator only works from certain floor up, you still have stairs, you leave a tag at door not to be bothered, they still do your room…….they don’t have wake up call or they forgot……

El Mesón de los Poetas is a fabulous place to stay in Guanajuato. It’s perfectly situated - close to everything but off the busiest streets. The facilities are super well maintained, there are several lovely terraces to enjoy, and the staff is superb!

This is a nice hotel in a very centric place at the center of Guanajuato. Just be aware that if you have a car it needs to be kept about a mile away from the hotel.

Muy linda decoración, un lugar estilo colonial. Está en el mero centro, no se necesita coche para salir. La habitación fue amplia, muy bonita con un baño agradable y funcional. Faltaron contactos tanto en la habitación como en el baño. Estaba un poco ruidoso ya que daba a la calle y se percibieron muchos ruidos hasta muy tarde en la noche y temprano en la mañana. El desayuno fue rico, pero tardaron mucho en servirlo. No hay estacionamiento y tuvimos que llevar el coche a un estacionamiento caro y bastante lejos.

The property was maintained excellent.super clean. The rooms were very nice and cleanas well. I would highly recommend this Hotel to anyone. Our room was quiet at night.The staff is extremely friendly and very helpful. One thing that i noticed is that the staff was always cleaning. The place is spotless.they wipe down the handrails etc. No detail missed. I dont think you can go wrong booking here.

This property is gorgeous and well worth the price. Some people mentioned the standing fan was not enough, but I found it to be just fine at night with the screen door open. The only small thing I expected was for the bedding to be cleaned and swapped out when the room was cleaned. All of the same bedding was just reapplied during cleaning and not swapped with new clean items. However, given the environmental friendliness and water cautiousness of the hotel, I can appreciate not wanting to waste excess water to clean sheets and blankets daily.

My biggest quibble with my room is it had no chair. My room was very quiet but my friens room faced the street and said it was pretty noisy until late. This hotel is very quirky with a labyrinth if rooms, which means quite a lot of climbing steps.

Our room was small, but cozy (1 bed, 2 adults). I loved the poet theme and found the whole place cute and quirky. I’ve seen reviews about the showers and hot water so I want to mention our experience. Our shower did take a few minutes to get the hot water going, but once we had hot water it stayed hot long enough for both of us to shower, so overall it was not an issue. WiFi also worked well. The location was great for us. Just a few minutes walk to downtown, restaurants, and bars. It was close enough to the city center that we could usually walk back to the hotel to use the bathroom instead of paying to use public facilities. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful. We were able to get by with minimal Spanish speaking skills. Overall, for the price and location, I would stay here again if I’m lucky enough to visit Guanajuato in the future.

I visited the third week of November and the weather was perfect. The nights were cool, which made it perfect for sleeping. The bed was firm but after all it felt good on my back. The service from the front desk, dining service snd housekeeping was excellent. I stayed in room 401 and the only downside was the window to the room looked out into the hallway and the light shone in even with the curtain closed. I think security would turn it off late at night but if your early to bed you can expect to have it shining in. I will stay there again. Thank you!

It's a perfectly nice hotel. My room however was on the ground floor with windows facing into a common area of the hotel's interior. So I had to keep those window's heavy drapes always closed for any privacy. It was like being in a cave basically for 3 days. The thing is, I paid extra for what is listed as a "superior room". How could you possibly classify a ground floor windowless cave as a 'superior room". What did I pay extra for? Please educate me, because I think you should really list that room, #104, as an "inferior room" to be honest with your guests.

Stayed in Guanajuato for 1 night and my stay at El Meson de Los Poetas was amazing. Beautiful hotel and amazing customer service and hospitality. There was hot water, an extra warm blanket, and the bed was spacious and comfortable. Walkable to the main sites and perfectly situated next to a coffee shop which I highly recommend. Hotel offered luggage storage free of charge after check-out and called taxi service when it was time to depart. I felt safe and comfortable. I grew up visiting Guanajuato with family and I love it every time. I will stay here again next time I spend the night in Guanajuato.

Wonderful, labyrinthine building in the Historic Center, steps from the Museo Casa Diego Rivera. The breakfast was exceptional and the service was attentive and professional. Our only complaint was that the room was not air conditioned and the open window brought in a lot of traffic noise. Ask for a room away from the street and you'll be fine. [To be fair, we were offered an interior room and chose this one, so it's on us.]

The staff was great. Everyone was kind, one employee went above and beyond. Ivan really help usually through our visit. He jumped in our car and helped navigate us to parking. He even carried my aunts purse back to the hotel. While we’re at the hotel he greeted us everyday and was always very kind and attentive with all that we needed. Thank you to el meson de las poetas.

We had a great stay. This town is not made for uncomfortable shoes. The hotel was perfect for a weekend, close to all the comotion but not on top of it. The night staff can be very rude. Over all a very beautiful property where I would stay at again. The terrace is lovely and Miguel went out of his way to make sure we were having a lovely time and the day staff was great.

I enjoyed the location, clean room and beauty of the property. Disappointed in managements unwillingness to accommodate some requests. I asked to use my breakfast coupon ( which I had already paid for ) a day early as I was checking out a day early from the hotel due to a change in plans. They declined to honor that which I found a bit odd.

We had a wonderful three night stay here. Our room was off of the street and quiet, breakfasts in the restaurant were top notch and food was plentiful although my wife said the coffee was a little weak. Staff were very friendly and courteous. There are a number of stairs, but they led to unique levels and roof top patios that we enjoyed exploring. Location was perfect with close access to all sites while still a little away from the action. Would highly recommend this hotel.

There were no English-speaking staff at the front desk — which is unacceptable for a hotel. The staff were also rude and culturally insensitive. When I checked in, I submitted my Korean ID card. The lady at the counter laughed and said, “Front Chinese letter, back English. Funny.” That was extremely disrespectful. She should be aware that not all Asian languages are Chinese. I corrected her by saying, “It’s Korean,” but she never apologized. The noise level was also terrible. I understand it’s an old building, and I can tolerate some noise, but I was woken up several times during the night and early morning by loud guests. When I called the front desk to report it, the staff couldn’t speak English at all — and instead of handling it professionally, he came to my door and knocked it, waking me up again. Later, a friend left a gift for me at the front desk. The lady at the counter laughed and said, “Front Chinese letter, back English. Funny.” That was extremely disrespectful. She should be aware that not all Asian languages are Chinese. I corrected her by saying, “It’s Korean,” but she never apologized. The noise level was also terrible. I understand it’s an old building, and I can tolerate some noise, but I was woken up several times during the night and early morning by loud guests. When I called the front desk to report it, the staff couldn’t speak English at all — and instead of handling it professionally, he came to my door and knocked it, waking me up again. Later, a friend left a gift for me at the front desk. From the minute we entered the hotel the staff were very helpful and friendly. The beds were very comfortable and the room was clean and well appointed. The location could not have been any better we could walk to all the hot spots. The only one concern was some of the quests would slam the doors which was noisy in our room Thank you El Meson de los Poetas.

The staff in the reception were very welcoming and friendly. The waiters and dining staff as a whole made our experience even better. They were friendly and respectful very attentive. We also enjoyed the breakfast buffet there a lot. The food there was actually our favorite in the entire city. The cleaning staff for the rooms were great and the bell boys were also very nice and respectful. I would definitely stay there again and would encourage everyone to do the same.

El Mesón de los Poetas is a fabulous place to stay in Guanajuato. It’s perfectly situated - close to everything but off the busiest streets. The facilities are super well maintained, there are several lovely terraces to enjoy, and the staff is superb!

Excelente ubicación, aunque no tenga estacionamiento, el que ofrecen esta muy lejos, quizás sería bueno habilitar que fueran por el carro, aunque se pague un poco más. Sus desayunos fueron deliciosos, y el único mesero es mago, por que a pesar de ser el único, siempre tuvo excelente atención y buena actitud.

Hotel it’s within walking distance for most things. Staff is super friendly and fast to accommodate needs. Breakfast was buffet and food was good and warm. No air conditioner and room little hot. Our room was to the front of the hotel so street little noisy.

Fantastic colonial hotel in a perfect location in the center of the old city of Guanajuato .. beautiful breakfast room with towering stone walls with a fabulous and delicious breakfast selection. Hotel employes incredibly caring and helpful and friendly. Within walking distance of many of the must see sites to see in Guanajuato. Room was very very nice.. bathroom a little undersized but definitely clean and functional. One of the best boutique hotels where we have ever stayed !

Muy linda decoración, un lugar estilo colonial. Está en el mero centro, no se necesita coche para salir. La habitación fue amplia, muy bonita con un baño agradable y funcional. Faltaron contactos tanto en la habitación como en el baño. Estaba un poco ruidoso ya que daba a la calle y se percibieron muchos ruidos hasta muy tarde en la noche y temprano en la mañana. El desayuno fue rico, pero tardaron mucho en servirlo. No hay estacionamiento y tuvimos que llevar el coche a un estacionamiento caro y bastante lejos.

Great hotel. Only negative was the front desk person quoted an inflated cost for the taxi to the airport (700 pesos; a friend who grabbed a taxi on the street minutes earlier paid 500). When the taxi driver arrived he not so discreetly handed cash (kickback) to the front desk person who called him.

great location for exploring Guanajuato. The staff, especially the breakfast staff is beyond superb. I recommend this for anyone with normal mobility. Depending on your floor, you may have some stairs and the outside streets are not flat and you may have to walk a little bit up hill to get to the squares in centro. The hotel and breakfast was overall just perfect for us and we are in our early 70's.
