The Hotel by Gold Dust

Great Location Parking was a little hassel, as you had to park a ways away.

Didn't like parking

Room was nice. The parking was not good. Had to park a couple blocks from hotel.

The hotel is clean, quiet and in walking distance to all the excitement Deadwood has to offer. The issue I have with this hotel is the parking situation. There is no valet and you have to park blocks from the hotel. In the winter they do not keep up on the snow and you have to trudge through ice and snow to get to and from your car.

Dirty bathroom with an orange ring of scum around the tin and faucet. Never saw one room service person/ and the room was never cleaned. Horrible outdated key system that demagnetized 4x and I had to keep the card separate from my credit cards at all times. Ice machine broken. Vending machines gave the wrong drink. Tiny room, don’t be fooled by the website pictures. Nowhere near 400$ a night I don’t care what event is happening in deadwood. Never again.

Conveniently located. Free parking a 2 minute walk from the hotel but you can pull up outside the hotel for 20 minutes to unload/pickup. Room adequate for our needs. Keurig, fridge and microwave. Good size bathroom. Comfortable bed. Staff polite but did not interact - didn't mention points of interest/events/what is in the area. Breakfast was bagels, muffins, cereal, pancakes, yogurt. A few issues.....Items left in fridge from previous room occupants which I took to reception. The receptionist commented "yuk" but nothing further. There is no housekeeping as standard. We were there for a 3 night stay and I asked for housekeeping once (clean towels, bedding, toiletries). Housekeeping didn't come in even though we were out all day so no clean bedding and I had to take our used towels down to reception and ask for clean ones, extra toiletries etc. There is an offer which staff really should mention at check in but don't! You pay $15 per person which gets you a $20 dining credit for Mavericks Steak House and a $10 slot credit in the Gold Dust Casino. The food was great and we took advantage of the offer on 2 evenings of our stay (you can buy the offer as many times as you want). In summary, it's a decent hotel for what you pay. We didn't see the point in paying upwards of $50 a night for a 'better' hotel when we were out all day and just needed somewhere comfortable to sleep/shower/change.

Parking sucks!

Everything with this property was great. But they HAVE to sort out some kind of map for guests to show where the parking is because the description I received was comically bad and it took me 45 mins to find. Other than that it is a clean and well run little hotel.

A map to get to the parking lot would be beneficial.

Staff were great at check in. Parking was more than a few blocks away. The room had no ac- they had a portable unit on wheels that I had to open the window and hook up a hose and a piece of board with duct tape so the air could flow.

The bathroom was gross. There was a used qtip on the floor and it looked like it hadn't been deep cleaned in a long time

The rooms and bathrooms were filthy/with mold around all the woodwork, and the pillows were terrible, very misleading...very disappointed.

The property was easy to find easy to get to, the had parking which was nice during the Rally. The worst part was the bed sheets, they had stains on them or hadn't been changed. We ended up buying a blanket to sleep on. The main sheet had what looked like brown paint, or feces the mattress protector had multiple liquid stains.

We got to the hotel check in was good the front desk was nice. Went up to our room it was like a closet room which no problems we weren't going to be in the room but to shower and sleep. Got to room the lobby elevator and hall were warm open our door and are hit with a big gust of cold air (it was about 11° outside) started turning up the heater (to 86) and closing the window curtain dropped our stuff and went to park our car. When coming back in the front desk asked if everything was going good I said yeah so far other than I may be calling you in a few of our heater doesn't work its freezing in our room. She replies with "here take this space heater with you the heater isnt working right and the tech wont come because its a holiday weekend." Got to our room put the heater in on high the room was still freezing my husband said man why does the bathroom always have to be gross I brushed it off. We freshed up and left. Got back to the room around 12:30ish it was probably 60° in our room and 0° outside. I went into the bathroom to potty and chang went to sit down asked my husband did you poop he says no that was in there. There was poop in the toilet hair all over the bathroom I mean toilet sink floor bathtub half a roll of TP but they did leave 3 of each of the bathroom essentials. Needless to say the bathroom was foul to say the least. I took pictures and said just go to bed its cold. My husband at this time was getting the TV turned on but low and behold the TV wasnt hooked

Our room was filthy. The bathroom floor hadn’t been cleaned in who knows how long. Could see drops of something then covered with dirt. The carpet clearly hadn’t been vacuumed. Need to also pay attention to walls. They are dirty too.

The location was very convenient but the room was tiny and dirty.

Heater did not work in room. Black mold in bathtub. There was no snow shoveled or salt put down at entrance to hotel. Breakfast area juice machine and pancake maker did not work. Voiced our concerns to front desk and they flat out did not care.

Okay, so my first impressions was. When you walk in it was very nice and updated. The staff was absolutely wonderful during our entier stay. Got to our room and it appeared to be clean, smaller room, but we didn't need anything more. We went out on the town came back to our room and just slept. "KINDA", I was started it itching and would stop. My girlfriends skin as well as mine was all red and irritated. Not sure what the issue was bu we boh took shower then put on stuff to stop the itching bu out skin remained red and irritated. Then i started looking at he cleanliness of he room. Piles of dir in the corners in the bathroom and DIRTY UNDERWEAR FROM THE LAST PERSON WHO STAIED IN THE ROOM ON THE FLOOR BY THE ENTRY COAT HANGER / CLOSET AREA.WAS. WITH OUT THOSE ISSUES I WOULD'VE RECOMMENDED THIS PLACE. Hopefully they correct these horrible issues. I've never left a bad review ever but i also haven't ever had his kinda issue. Hey place was nice, but cleaning is everything!!

Disappointed this time.. the room was dirty. I have photos. We've stayed here before and never had a problem but this time was bad. I asked at the front desk and they adjusted our cost a little but not enough to make it okay/comfortable.

Room was dirty! Leftovers in the fridge, toilet wasn’t cleaned, stains on bed tables and no toilet paper in the room. Gave us another room to move to without saying anything and no discount

Room was like a closet. No window. Extremely small.

The rooms were quite warm and the thermostats were not easy to navigate. With the high ceiling and the air vent at the top, it seemed to take forever to cool down. We had a window on the east wall with subpar shades, so got the bright morning sun right away. The breakfast was a joke. Our room opened to the breakfast area and was quite noisy with early risers. There was also what sounded like a leak in the ceiling in our bathroom, which was very loud. For the price, I would not stay here again.

Rooms were very small, could hardly move around the bed. No where to put suitcases. Room so small the coffee machine under the bathroom sink! Not quite what I was expecting from the pictures online.

Rooms A/C wasn’t working so they had a portable A/C that worked but was taking up a bit of room. A sewer smell from the tub drain. Most mornings they ran out of food and or coffee. Staff was good and great location for day and night life.

The gold dust hotel is located adjacent to historic " strip " it is a short walk to the sights and sounds of deadwood A couple of observations The rooms while clean, are small by most standards. Deadwood is very popular with motorcycle enthusiasts so you will hear the rumblings There is parking but not at the hotel..but very close. Lastly,there are apparently 3 queen rooms that are " interior rooms" that have no windows something not disclosed in the ads ** a big shout out to Ashley for her grace in helping us***

very dated and small room (king size bed with room only to walk around the bed) , the shower/tub combo was old, appeared dirty, dingy. Lots of street noise through the night. The breakfast offerings were cereal and bagels and one kind of toast and a few muffins (the pancake machine was inoperable), 1 flavor of yogurt, while the other Gold Dust property had eggs,sausage, biscuits , fruit etc, also only ice available on the 1st floor while we were on the 3rd.

Room was very small. AC was difficult to control. Lots of noise from street.

Upon entering room we see that the ac unit is duct taped to the completely open window. This was fine until around 3:00 am when all you can hear is noise from outside and what sounds like a garbage truck creating a lot of banging noises. A little disclosure at the time of check in would have been appreciated.

Overall a very nice place, but the room was incredibly small. It was a single queen bed and the room consisted of literally 2.5 feet around each edge of the bed. No desk/worksurface, coffee maker was stuffed below the bathroom sink. I highly suspect this was the room they give to anyone not booking direct, but because of it, I will probably never stay here again.

Our floor smelled like sewer so bad. Every single floor was out of bottled water. The lobby was so hot you couldn’t even be in it. The front desk guy when we checked in was so rude. This place used to be so nice. Went downhill. Won’t stay again.

We had a really rude hostess when checking in, less than helpful or friendly would be putting it nice. The towels were stained in our room and to avoid the hostess we just went without asking for different ones.

Check-in was not a comfortable experience, the guy was cold and unfriendly. Room was decent, bed ok if not too soft. Room had a coffee machine but no coffee or tea. The windows had double-blinds (blackout and privacy), which you need to leave the privacy ones down or you’ll cop an eyeful of the guests across the road in the Holiday Inn…and vice versa! Breakfast was uneventful - the usual ‘continental breakfast’, which if you are European you realise bears no resemblance to what we call a continental breakfast. Although they did have a pancake maker which was a novelty. The usual suspects of Froot Loops, bagels, and high fructose corn syrup goop to put on everything was in abundance. Deadwood is just one big tourist trap and casino binge-fest. Trying to locate restaurants, involved going through casinos - do not expect a quiet meal! I can recommend Maverick’s Steak House - food was good and reasonably healthy, and staff were friendly and a good laugh. We were only passing through for one night, which was enough.

I left my drivers license in another motel and the guy that was checking me in was not gonna let me stay without an ID with the picture. Had traveled all the way from Houston and he was not gonna let me check him until we had to beg Very poor people skills. Very poor first depression on hotel management.

The original lady staff was excellent then she left and we had to check in with a male who was arrigant ,condasending and bullyed the people ahead of us and us .Th3 rooom was so small and the bed was a double andqe asked for a king .He would not chamge it

The hotel staff was curt upon arrival, as if inconvenienced. The room was extremely small and the a/c didn’t work. The window opened about 4-6 inches and there was quite a bit of street noise. They sent someone up regarding the a/c, and he said the systems were not made properly to cool and to request a fan. The following morning we requesting a fan and the desk manager gave me a floor fan. We left for the afternoon and when we returned to our room, someone had come in and inserted a window cooler, which worked great, but was large, noisy, and took up more space in the tiny room. It did work well though.

The Continental breakfast wasn’t the best

The hotel was close to everything. Everyone was friendly. Breakfast was not really breakfast. Just cereal and oatmeal. Otherwise it was great.

Bed was comfy, breakfast is small options but staff was nice, and right on Main Street so it’s easy access

I really liked how convenient it was to get to the main attractions however I think they benefit from better or more breakfast options.

Nice hotel, good location, comfortable beds. The room was clean, hall was a little musty and could use some fresh air. The breakfast selection was a bit weak.

Parking is a pain, but all else is not bad. Breakfast was not good, fyi!!
