Hotel Lido by Phoenicia

We stayed for a long weekend. The checkin was quick and efficient. I was somewhat surprised they didn’t want me to leave my credit card details, but they said you pay as you go. Only 1 lift so sometime it was a bit congested, we were on the 4th floor, although I could walk up and down, my wife has a bad leg and needed to use the lift. The room was clean and functional. The bathroom had a lot of water pressure, but that meant the tap was noisy unless you had it on “full blast”. There was ample hot water. There were all the usual soap, shower gel etc, but they also left small toothbrush and past and razor should you have forgotten these. I slept really well, once I’d managed to get the temperature right, the room was very hot. We left the window open, and even though we were facing away from the busy road it was still a bit noisy. Breakfast, was a little bit poor. The toasters were home versions so slow, and once I had a tepid fried egg and another time it was just cold. So the hot breakfast was a bit hit and miss. Meat and cheese selection was good, as was the fruit juice and coffee. The tea, I my opinion was too weak, even with 2 bags and a good old soak. Would I go back, yes, but I might consider paying more for better room facilities/ breakfast.

Staff are not friendly. Lift is not modern, gate needs to be operated manually. Denny at house keeping was helpful.

The general old touch, the ornaments, the art collection, the old style elevator, everything caring the ambiance of a pre-WWII Bucharest hotel. Will definitely recommend and revisit.

Room temperature very hot (26-27 degrees) so had to open widows often. Air con didn’t seem to work. Bathroom was aged but functional. Shower pressure good. Could do with a deep clean or refurb. Breakfast was basic. Usual continental, yogurts, ham/turkey and cheese, with some hot options. OK but not great. The restaurant was much better for dinner. Very good, lots of options and good service. Quirky interior, interesting lift, and lots of original art throughout the lobby and floors. Nice touch. Overall my stay was pleasant and value for money. Would stay again.

I was unsure to give 3 or 4 stars in this review but ended up giving 4 because at the end of my stay the manager of the hotel made up for all the issues that happened (broken flush in the toilet as soon as I checked in, no light in the room in one of the nights and then they didn’t fix it the next day as promised, etc) by giving me late check out free of charge. I really liked the hotel room, the bed was sooo big and comfortable, stayed in the top floor with view to the back and it was perfect. The hotel is kinda old style which is nice interior design and specially during Halloween it’s all decorated which is a nice touch. The lift is also old style which is a massive issue tho! If you don’t close the door manually after getting out the lift it wouldn’t work anymore (I was at the very top floor and on 3 occasions had to go all the way down by stairs because someone didn’t close the door of the lift which is really annoying so bear that in mind. Breakfast is ok, nothing specially, could be better quality and variety. Location is great, super central and walkable everywhere, that was a must! There was a weird smell on the corridors tho (like dump with a mix of cigarette smell), they need to fix that. Staff is ok, not extremely friendly but polite. If you have trouble sleeping/don’t like much noise, ask for a room with view to the back, the rooms facing the front (main road) are extremely noisy as it’s located in one of the busiest avenues in the city and there’s a lot of cars.

Loved our stay at the hotel, vintage aesthetic with modern facilities. 15 min walk from old town and other attractions. Overall great experience.

La chambre Double Deluxe, 1 très grand lit elle était très bien. Le seuls bémols étaient la vue vers le Boulevard Magheru - trop bruyant et le linge taché de noir dans quelques endroits et rompu. Les fenêtres de cet hôtel n'offre aucune isolation contre le bruit. Les serviettes sont de petite taille et en fin de vie presque... Le lendemain de mon arrivé, le personnel de l'hôtel m'a changé de chambre de côté cour, mais cette chambre-là était plus petite. Pareil pour le linge et les serviettes.

Great location - approx 10/15 minute walk to the Old Town and then several coffee shops just outside hotel. Hotel room lovely - lots of amenities. Only thing to note is that bathroom slightly run down, paint pealing and needs resealed. Staff lovely and friendly. We speak English and English really great! Breakfast - standard breakfast. Plenty of choice and included in room rate. Approx 20 minutes from Airport. Overall enjoyed our stay and would stay again!

Room, hallways and public areas all spotless. The room size was fantastic and staff all very friendly and helpful. The hotel is a little further out but only a 15/20 min walk which is pleasant to see the surrounding areas. Would 100% stay here again.

L’hôtel est très bien situé et présente bien, la propreté y est de mise (pour la 1ère nuit). Le service est assez expéditif mais correct en soit. Cependant, durant notre séjour au 6ème étage, il était impossible de prendre une douche, d’utiliser le lavabo ou encore les toilettes en soirée ou pendant la nuit en cause, l’eau ne coulait plus ! Assez dérangeant, nous avons contacté la réception une première fois, une réponse vague car c’est un nouveau problème et ils m’ont proposé de le rappeler au bout de 30 mins… j’attends toujours le rappel du collaborateur à ce jour. 2eme nuit, problème non résolu, aucune solution que de rester sans eau. La 3eme nuit nous rappelons la réception et merci nous avons à 5h du matin une chambre pour pouvoir faire une douche bien chaude avant de partir, car oui le reste de l’hôtel n’était pas impacté…. Aussi surprise, après une nuit passé, retour à l’hôtel pour nous 2ème nuit, la chambre n’avait pas été nettoyé ! Stupeur et imcompréhension, nous avons demandé à la réception et il y avait un oubli… le service de chambre se dépêche de finir notre chambre lors de notre bref passage avant de sortir, ils nous laissent nous changer hors ils ne sont pas venue terminer lors actions, poubelles non vidées et j’en passe. Passons maintenant au petit déjeuner qui était décevant pour ma part, produit industriel. La machine à café ne servait pas de cappuccino car il n’y avait plus de lait, l’éclairage ne fonctionnait pas et donnait une ambiance sombre.

Et ret så lille værelse, i forhold til hvad billedet synes at vise. Badeværelset var nyt og rent. Hotellet i sig selv var ok, men havde en skarp parfumeret lugt - samt røglugt i forbindelse med brasseriet nedenfor. Stille værelse, selvom hotellet ligger ud til 6 sporet vej. Vores værelse var væk fra vejen, så vi hørte ingen bilstøj.

El hotel no está mal pero el estado del baño no era de un hotel de 4 estrellas. Había salpicaduras rojas en la pared y a pesar de poner desinfectado había áreas bastante dudosas en cuanto a mantenimiento. Sábanas y cama muy cómodas.

The staff is professional and helpful, going the extra mile to assist with everything you need. The hotel is spotless and in a perfect location.

God breakfast. Easy to grab an uber (11 quid from the airport, 11 quid back or few pence less) large rooms woth balcony, id go higher up as your on the main street or yku can have a room at the back of tve building. I was 5th floof balcony, all was perfect. Ahhhh the mushrooms at perfect woth the brekkie. Lovely historical authentic vibe to the hotel yeh massive king size modern rooms. Great stay, i would recommend as location also perfect.

Great location and unexpected opportunity to watch the parade on 24th Jan, from our balcony. Also 9 min walk for coach to Transylvania day trip. Would definitely stay here again when we return to Bucharest.

Fik vi først et værelse på 6. sal, fint værelse, men der var en konstant brummen fra aircondition anlægget, så vi skiftede værelse og her var ingen støj

Lovely hotel with helpful staff in a great location in Bucharest! The rooms were spacious and comfortable and the breakfast in the morning was delicious. Carpet was a little bit old and my fridge leaked, but other than that I had a lovely stay in the food in room service was excellent. Highly recommend this hotel and I will stay again whenever I get back to Bucharest.

The room was everything we expected and more! Loved the apartment feel and the complementary bottle of wine! The shower was a HUGE plus also! Location was perfect as well!

We had a wonderful stay at the Lido. Great rooms, exceptional service and lovely breakfast buffet. The decor and building were delightful.

Hotel bem localizado, boa infraestrutura, porém o café da manhã regular e atendimento na recepção ruim com exceção de um carregador ( falava inglês) que foi o que salvou no quesito atendimento.

Hotel building and decor itself is nice, however having booked a “executive suite” with a bath I discovered on the 1st night there was no hot water. Called reception who sent someone up, water eventually got warm at best after he turned some mains valves on/off. Second night again no hot water, told reception who said I could change room but I was checking out the next morning. Asked for an alternative solution ie some for of refund to compensate for the fact we didn’t have hot water, reasonable request for a hotel that makes itself out to be upmarket. This was refused and abruptly told they had given me an option. Poor customer service that I’d expect at a budget hotel. Wouldn’t stay here again if I had the choice. Breakfast buffet isn’t great either, tables not being cleaned so nowhere to sit and the food was extremely average. Could have paid less money and stayed somewhere far better.

Vi hade en fantastisk vistelse på hotellet! Personalen var mycket trevlig, alltid hjälpsam och fick oss att känna mig varmt välkommen från första stund. Servicen var utmärkt – allt från incheckning till utcheckning fungerade smidigt och professionellt. Jag kan varmt rekommendera detta hotell och ser fram emot att komma tillbaka!

Good location, close to Romanian Athenaeum

Gode værelser, god service og glimrende morgenmad. Der kan være trafikstøj fra gaden, så prøv at få et værelse til bagsiden. Enkelte steder er ting lidt slidte, men alt ialt bestemt pænt. Kvarteret på.bagsideb er virkeligt hyggeligt med en del cafeer og restauranter

This is a great hotel one mile from old town. Lots of nice restaurants close by. Nice place to have an evening stroll. The presidential suite was excellent

We enjoyed the stay at Lido. The location is excellent and the value for the money is great. The service was four star. The room was excellent: clean, serviced daily, bed was great. The air conditioned worked very well. Also the little fridge in the room helped. The only not so great was the breakfast (included in the price). It was almost like a two star contractor was delivering to a four star hotel clientele. Much improvement is needed in the quality of food and service.
