The fact that the hotel pool is open 24 hours was amazing. The hotel is incredibly safe and the staff were all amicable and worked hard to make sure that all of our stay was comfortable. The gym is fully outfitted with great equipment. The only problem was that when I checked in I was told that I didn’t pay for the breakfast and happy hour because I booked through Expedia. This mix up in communication didn’t break my trip too much. However, I would reconsider staying here in the future because the hotel is too pricey for no daily breakfast.

Have always stayed here in CR and not much changes! Check In is always slow but to be fair staff are as helpful as they can be. The Hotel is starting to look a little dated especially the Spa area which could really do with a revamp! Still the only place I would stay due to choice of restaurants and surrounding area.

It was a quick two days after spending several days in Quepos. I went specifically to use the spa which is wonderful and the treatments were worth it. The only problem I had is that for 500 a night with club access, I found the rooms to be poorly maintained and the service not that helpful. The bathtub smelled of urine and the cold faucet was broken. The windows were very dirty and the shower door leaked water with every shower. The shower doors were dirty too. Nobody offered to help me with my luggage which I had two suitcases and a backpack and I was alone. For a 5 star hotel I expected a bit more of a warm greeting. The pool is very nice and kept up well and the morning breakfast and happy hours were nice. All in all, it was decent. The spa made up for what the cleanliness and service of the front desk lacked.

the hotel was clean and well decorated. The staff were excellent and the bar was well stocked and the service was excellent. My only observation, is that for a property that large, it should have a small club vive place, nothing over the top. I didn't see a game room, like pool tables etc. if you have it, then I didn't see it.

I strongly recommend that people stay at another property. The property was under construction and the rooms definitely needed some repairs. We booked a double bed room for us and our 2 children and were put in a king room. My husband had to sleep on the floor. Additionally, my credit card was charged multiple times with unapproved charges and now I am having to work with my bank to get a refund. Save yourself the trouble and stay at the Marriott Belen. It’s a nicer property for the same rate with much better customer service.

They would not allow my driver to come in to the property, which was a big inconvenience. There’s no 24 hour room service. There’s nothing special about this property. It’s better to stay off of this property and go to an actual hotel. It’ll be a lot cheaper there cleanliness is exactly what I gave them. One star we told the housekeeping and the front desk manager That there was stains and rips on the sheer curtains, never replaced it. The glass sliding door never worked and our room was right up against the pool, which people could easily open up that glass line door. I will never ever stay in this hotel again for the price that they charge. Save your money or stay at another hotel

El servicio y calidad siempre ha sido muy bueno o excelente. No sé si fue la mala suerte en esta oportunidad pero aun en torre ejecutiva y la habitación tenia telas de araña, Sucio y con moho negro. El servicio muy bueno como siempre eso sí. En una cena de negocios y no se podía conversar ya que la alarma de incendios sonaba cada 5 minutos super fuerte. Al otro día en el desayuno lo mismo la alarma se activó. Fatal. Con lo anterior en mi percepción bajó de 5 estrellas a 3 estrellas. Les daré el beneficio de la duda pero es de poner atención a los temas para que baje de calidad a un precio elevado.

The bed was old and horribly lumpy, as a couple we were forced to sleep apart because there was a huge ridge in the middle of the bed, and completely sunken on either side. We barely slept because of this. Absolutely not fitting for a hotel of this price and category. The room also smelled musty from the air conditioning. Overall a very big disappointment, especially for the price I was charged. The only redeeming quality was the food, which was quite good.

I had two rooms, the first one in the 5th floor did not get enough hot water, the second in the main tower, 4th floor had a leak in the front door, near the air conditioning , I think. By then , I just dealt with it. The condition of the lobby is bad. The staff is very nice tough and very pleasant

The InterContinental is an okay hotel — very much in the classic American style: large, convenient, and functional, but lacking personality. A few things really brought the experience down. The minibar/fridge service was frustrating: the refrigerator comes locked, and it took far more effort than it should have to get it opened. This was especially inconvenient because I needed to store medication that must be kept refrigerated. Another downside is the carpeted hallways. As someone with allergies, this can be challenging unless the cleaning is absolutely impeccable — and here, it didn’t feel quite reassuring enough. Overall, it’s not the kind of hotel that makes you feel like you need to come back. That said, the other options in the area aren’t very different either.

La habitación de buen tamaño, buen baño y buenos amenities. La calidad de las toallas excelente, las sábanas y ropa de cama standard, no de la calidad que uni espera en un Intercontinental. La habitación solo la limpian una vez al día, el teléfono de la habiación para comunicarse con recepción o solicitar algún servicio es muy mala. Las personas que tienden las camas lo hcen mal, las sábanas muy abajo, el hotel necesita mejorar mucho. El SPA es bastante bueno.

Las habitaciones tienen malas las cortinas y el black out. Están viejas y malas y no sirven. La luz entra por todas partes desde las 6 am El Front desk tiene un servicio deficiente. Se demora 1 hora en hacer check in con 5 personas adelante y 4 atendiendo el front desk. Ridiculo. Quejarse no vale de nada porque lo hice y no les importo mucho. Difícilmente dan un late check out de una hora extra o del todo no lo dan. La comida muy buena y el personal de los restaurantes y el valet muy decentes Por lo demás no vale más de 70 dólares la noche.

I liked that this property has a bunch of restaurants, and several pools accessible in later hours. It has a good resort vibe. It looks like a "5 star". I stayed there with a friend instead of my usual spot in San Jose, because they were close to where I wanted to be and had double rooms available. The room was nice, bathroom had marble everything. The beds, I got horrible sleep, as they decided to over luxify the thing by adding down mattress topper, down duvet, and down pillows. All of this in a tropical climate. Basically that meant I had to keep the A/C as low as possible (as a Canadian), and bed was too hot. Daily room cleanup... my friend and I were sleeping in late, which meant that, we put up a sign that had three parts (I want cleaning, cleaning in progress, dont bother me). This sign apparently confuses the staff. Because even though we wanted privacy, we only got our room cleaned/towels changes 2 out of 5 nights we stayed there. One of the days my friend desperately asked the staff passing by to get fresh towels and get the room done. Her mistake was not to call front-desk. But not sure that would have worked, two phones in the room would only indicate a busy tone when front-desk was called. Now, to top all of this off. Once we checked out (a day earlier than what we paid for), we got a 100 USD bill, of that $50 was not ours. Mind you, that's 100_ USD in mini fridge bills for consuming only water (a mix of sizes and local vs import).

The hotel itself is nice with the normal amenities one would expect from an Intercontinental Hotel. Unfortunately my experience included a room that had a leak in the ceiling. We are not talking about a drip, drip leak--we are talking full blown waterfall. I had to deal with that 3 times with multiple towels and ZERO response from the hotel. At check out, they offered to compensate a meal, but that never happened and really wasn't the issue. they should have just come and fixed the problem when it was reported. In addition to that, while the cost of Costa Rica is generally high, the excessive costs of food and drink at this hotel were way higher than expected--but the quality was very good.
