Staying at Oasis was a wonderful experience — it truly felt like a home away from home. The bed was very comfortable, with a firm mattress and a soft, perfectly supportive pillow. The room was a bit small but clean and functional, with a comfortable temperature from a central air conditioning system. I had a room with a shared bathroom, and most of the time it was clean — I didn't feel like I was sharing it with other people. The room door is always locked from the outside, so make sure to grab your keys whenever you leave the room. Breakfast is available from 7–10 a.m. and was quite good — I enjoyed it every day before venturing into downtown Boston. Options included boiled eggs, seasonal fruits, bread, bagels and pastries, yogurt, regular coffee (no decaf option), and orange juice. The location was excellent — right in the middle of Back Bay, less than a 5-minute walk to Berklee College of Music and the Hynes Convention Center T station and bus stop, CVS and Whole Food market. I had minimal interactions with the staff, but overall they were very helpful in addressing my needs. Cons: The door handle doesn't have a double lock, which felt a bit unsecure at first since there's only the one self-locking handle. Otherwise, I had a wonderful stay.

Very good stay, just what I needed for my stay in Boston. I would have given an excellent rating were it not for an incident with a member of staff when taking breakfast one morning. There is sign in food area to not eat at counter. I was waiting while some bread was toasting, I had some nuts in my plate and was eating one nut at that time. Someone came up and said in harsh voice that I was not to eat at counter. Other very negative things were also said by him. This shocked me; I said I was chewing a nut while waiting for toast, not eating at the counter!. Not sure who this was, but management should be careful about how staff relate to clients.

The room temperature is controlled by the proprietors, therefore the room is either too hot, too cold, too stuffy. One cannot adjust for their own needs and the windows would not open. The pillows were boulders. Uncomfortable is kind. I slept in my travel neck pillow and my husband needed an ice pack to be able to move his neck. The staff ignored us. They never greeted us with a “good morning” or “hello.” They passed us multiple times during breakfast in a small space and never uttered a word. A friendly, warm, bed and breakfast vibe would be an inaccurate description. Finally, there are rules. You can’t stand at the small breakfast area. You can’t use the lobby from 10-7. We realize that the potential noise would impact surrounding rooms, but the messaging and the overall lack of warmth from staff and physical comfort only contributed to a less than pleasant experience.
