The Old Bakery

The room was clean and comfortable. Shower and bathroom space is really tiny. The biggest issue for me was the fact that there was NO guest wifi. Also there is an awful smell when you walk up the stairs to the rooms. The check in experience was not very positive either. I had to look for someone to pay my bill. He did not know any details about my booking or my rate. He did not offer my a receipt when I paid.

Although the parking was at a car park, it was very close by and convenient. And you could easily walk to the center of the town.

Lovely room, clean, separate bathroom: but not big inconvenience. Could hear road noise, restaurant noise and other visitors from room, but fairly quiet overall. No WiFi on the property. Staff friendly and have quick and good communication over message. Easy contactless check in and check out.

No WiFi i can live with but there is no reception either to use your own data. Comminal bathroom you cant align the lock to secure the bathroom.

Great stay, only downside was it was freezing when we first checked in for a couple of hours, both the radiators in our room and bathroom were off, and no wifi

We enjoyed our stay at the pleasant Old Bakery. THe room was nicely decorated and the igneous little shower room, clean. My (single) pillow was rather lumpy and hard which meant I didn't sleep as well as I'd hoped. Also, the hotel details say there is water in the room. And there was cold water in the fridge, but only one small bottle! We did follow the advice from the pre-stay message, (very clear and helpful instructions) and parked at the lawn carpark, (a couple of minutes walk away) and then had breakfast at The Stokes in the same vacinity opposite the castle site. Both of which where good calls.

There’s no parking, no WiFi, no breakfast so cancelled the stay. The people were very nice & gladly refunded me even tho it’s says non refundable

The room itself is really lovely, its in a quiet area next to the castle so really walkable and was considerably cheaper than anywhere near by which is why we booked it. For those reasons its a good option. However... it is totally let down by a few things that would be so easy to fix. First the entrance, You very much dont feel welcome sneaking through a poorly marked back gate on a back street. Then the room is lovely and very pretty inside but there are only 2 very thin pillows, we ended up wrapping t-shirts round 2 cushions to make additional because we messaged the out of hours number asking for some spares and had no response at all... we still havent! And this is where the main problem is and why i would not stay there again. The service was worse than an air bnb, we messaged and heard nothing back at all, whats the point of having it if you dont respond? And to say its out of hours, theres no in hours staff either. We tried downstairs in the restaurant and a couple had been waiting there to be seated for 10 minutes with no service so we gave up. Our room wasnt cleaned or serviced over the several days we were there so the tiny bottle of shower gel had long run out and the room never got made up. No breakfast is also a problem, on sunday nowhere near by opens til 0930 at the earliest so no use, you can smell bread etc cooking downstairs by this point so why not offer a breakfast basket option? Also no wifi- we did know this but so cheap and easy to fix.

Very well positioned accommodation and walkable to Lincoln castle and cathedral. Comfortable stay would suggest more pillows required in our room as we only had 1 each. Really reasonably priced as we got a good deal. Although we parked further away by choice there is parking a few mins walk away behind the castle.

As others have mentioned, there are issues with the heating at this hotel. It was absolutely freezing when we arrived and we informed the restaurant below. They said that the front of house(who manages the properties above) would be in shortly and look into it. On returning from dinner, there was some heating on, and we had been left a small electric fan. Had exactly the same issues on the following afternoon. On speaking with the front of house, was told that there was nothing they could do as the maintenance team at the college were not in till monday. Was told that they "had looked at the boiler and pushed a few buttons", clearly having no clue. Eventually persuaded them to allow me to look at it. The timer on the boiler was 12 hrs out (AM vs PM) and the on/off times had been randomly set. Adjusted to keep it on, but think that as it's students that help run it, they have all had a fiddle with the controls and possibly turned things off during the summer (read the reviews below regarding boiling hot rooms) and it had not been corrected. Comments from management below also state that WiFi will be available from July. Still not available. Window in the room is also single glazed, so a) cold, b) road noise is an issue c) unopenable. Could really do with being replaced. On the plus side, the location is great.

Lovely place, would definitely come back. Very clean and directions to get in all clear. The flooring is dangerously slippy though in the rooms, don't walk around in just socks! The senser/timer for the hall light in room 3 was too long and disturbed sleep. The location was ideal though and right near the cathedral and a great curry place.

Easy process. Clean and tidy

Value for money is an understatement. Staff could not do enough, room was immaculate. Will definitely book again.

I found the property to be secure, very clean, comfortable bed, nice size bathroom which large shower and plenty of hot water and easy to use. It was in a good location within easy walking distance of visitor attractions and shops. I found the property met my needs perfectly.

Beautiful room in great location with everything you could need. Only thing is it's self check in so make sure you get the codes the day before. We will book it again as it was a lovely stay.

Perfect room for an overnight stay. Bathroom tiny, but had all that was required. Would happily stay again.

The room was ok but couldn't open the windows. Jammed closed for years. To hot to sleep.

Although this is one of three rooms and not a hotel, value for money is exceptional. Wi-Fi, mini fridge included. Bedding was super soft.

Comfy bed with decent shower. Quiet location. Just watch your head on the low ceiling! Restaurant downstairs is amazing and definitely worth a visit.

Perfect location for what we needed. Room was great although internal doors really heavy and loud so hard to move around quietly. A fantastic couple of days.

Extremely happy with stay. I hesitated to book because of very low price, but wanted to be near castle and cathedral. Location was fantastic, literally steps from castle, but a relatively quiet street. Entrance through back alley (thus the low price), but reasonably pleasant and easy (no staff).Room was decent size (about 4 feet all around bed) with an ensuite bathroom in two of the three available rooms (the third has a separate private bathroom), which the expedia advertisement posted incorrectly. The bathroom was narrow but adequate. Everything was very clean with an attractive laminate floor (my preference over carpet due to allergies). Furniture was great with matching desk and two nightstands, all hardwood and attractive, and tiny fridge. Hotel supplied plentiful tea, 6 packs of instant coffee, two pack of hot chocolate, and milk packets and a bottle of water in the fridge. For someone who drinks coffee with milk, the supply of coffee and milk was not adequate for 4 days and was not replenished, but I prefer milk from a bottle in any case (I did end up rationing the coffee, which was annoying). My room was not cleaned during my 4 day visit, which surprised me (rather liked the privacy). Toilet paper, bottle of water, and some bigger towels were left for me and the very nice cleaner, whom I met in the hallway, handed me a fan. I didn't want to live with trash for that long, so left the bag out on the third day and was left more water and trash bags. Iron & board in hall.

The bed was very comfy. We only had 1 pillow each would have been nice to have 2. The window was broken so we couldn’t use it. We had a fan provided but it was very noisy. But overall we had a very pleasant stay.

Great communication to gain access with clear instructions. Wonderful location and ease of access to historic Lincoln without being on busy streets. Rooms were clean and tidy.

Lovely little find….lovely staff, very comfortable, beautiful dinner…. Should advertise the fact it’s part of the college more we only found this out during dinner and found it fascinating.

Despite booking over a month before we intended to stay, our booking was cancelled at 5pm on the day of our stay. Had to find another hotel with a vacancy which cost more than our original booking.

Booked a one night stay as it was central to local bars, restaurants and the cathedral, also town centre shops Room was nice, tv, fridge The only issue was a leak in the bathroom which came through the light which was dangerous Was offered a move to another hotel but as it was late we decided to stay and use towels to soak up the water, Emily from the restaurant was extremely helpful . The out of hours contact didn’t reply or contact us until Sunday afternoon which was a little disappointing but it was rectified in the end

I did not stay in this property because i could not get into the property they did not the code for the door on the email i had to go into another hotel and pay more money to stay there.

I had a very comfortable night at the Old Bakery, and I was made welcome on arrival. Staff were helpful. Next time I'll ensure I'm there at a point when the restaurant is open as it looked excellent.

A last minute overnighter and this place is a great bolthole for visiting wonderful Lincoln. Attic bedroom clean comfortable with v nice bathroom en-suite. Above what looks like a great restaurant and minutes away from the cathedral and castle. I will be back

The area was very good with friendly local pubs and some superb restaurants. Attractions on your door step.

What a lovely room everything we needed was here and fab bathroom all clean fluffy white towels we only had one thing and that was the fan put fish smells into the room when they were cooking in restaurant as the big flue was outside the windows but we just got ready quick and went out next time would have room one or two , for the price we paid it was excellent
