It was an old property but they did the best with it. The bed could use an update and the shower curtains could be longer so as to actually reach the shower floor. Even though the room did not have a mini-ref, they put one on each floor for the guest to share. No one touched my water. Breakfast was very basic. Ok for short stays as long as you are not very picky.

Foi tudo dentro do esperado, café da manhã ok, excelente localização e eu achei seguro. Ar condicionado funcionava direitinho, tem elevador e apesar de não ter frigobar no quarto, tem um em cada andar, de uso comum. Recomendo!

I have to say...it is what it is. The Cecil is not a 5-star hotel. It is old, but is well kept. The staff was great, the room spotless, the breakfast adequate. It is in a great location for walking around the city. It enjoyed my stay there.

The Cecil was recommended to us by a friend who stays there for a few days every year. It was very conveniently located and it fitted the bill for us. It's an unpretentious, unfussy place with no frills or fancies. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were fairly basic but plentiful. The rooms were cleaned daily (except Sunday) and towels changed as required. There is a lift to all floors. Our beds were comfortable. We overlooked the side street which was, I suspect, quiter than being at the front of the building. I would stay there again.

Not very hygienic, only one garbage basket in the room, not allow to flush toilet paper in the toilet bowl. Limited space shower. Need to ask for hairdryer at the reception.can not overload electricity with multiple uses , fuses broke. Need to share the mini fridge with other people on the same floor. No microwave available in the hotel and serve with cold breakfast with no toaster. One person at a time with luggage’s in the elevator.no maintenance with couple of light bulbs burned.paints chip off .Staff are very helpful and nice.very convinient for shopping and visit , close to public transportation

Cecil Hotel is very centrally situated. Five minute walk from metro and tourist area. The surrounding area is authentically Athenian,. lively and interesting. The hotel is basic, a bit old fashioned but excellent value, quiet and comfortable. There are lots of cafés, pastry shops and a large general store on the street below. A fridge is available on each floor for the use of guests. Rooms clean, towels changed daily and sheets every two to three days. From my experience appeals to a variety of age group and tourist. This was my second stay in Cecil Hotel.

The location was excellent for visiting Plaka neighborhood and the acropolis and Parthenon! The shower area was absolutely horrible for drainage! It was flooded outside of the shower area and I had to use bathroom towels to mop. Also the toilet and the shower almost run into each making it absolutely uncomfortable. It’s like a delicate dance between the shower floor edge and squatting on the toilet. I am 122 lbs and it was tough. Can’t imagine what it would be for a heavier person to fit into that tiny space!

Hotel in una bellissima zona,vicina a tutto,reception sempre presente gentili e disponibili.Ho soggiornato in 2 camere diverse,la prima con un terrazzino e vista su acropoli ma sempre al sole,l'aria condizionata era obbligatoria,peró un pó fastidiosa perché puntava direttamente sulla testa,bagno un po datato,che abbiamo trovato allagato al nostro arrivo.La seconda era meravigliosa,ampia fresca con un grande bagno,sempre all'ombra,sembrava di essere a casa.Nota dolente la colazione,a queste condizione non la offrirei neanche,2 cose in croce,caffè in un dispenser di plastica un solo tipo di cereali yogurt greco e uova sode,forse c'era anche una ciambella,comunque abbiamo provato solo un giorno,gli altri siamo andati direttamente al bar.

The location of this hotel is very convenient in downtown. 3 min to supermarket. 5 min to metro Monastiraki. Noisy on Saturday night if your room is facing the restaurant when people eating outside table on the street. Rooms on back side are quiet. Staffs are friendly.

Let’s break it down: 1) Excellent location! It’s right in the center without being over the line into the neighborhood I was told can be “unpredictable” and suspect. 2) Can’t beat the included breakfast in the cost which is rare to find these days. 3) I have to say, probably my favorite part was how hospitable the front desk staff were. I had a late departure, but they let me store some luggage after checkout and until my ferry left. They even went the extra mile and let me store my things there after I returned from the islands and had to spend the entire day in Athens waiting for my flight. This was exceptional and beyond expectation! 🙌

L'hôtel est très très bien situé. On peut tout faire à pied très facilement, c'est vraiment chouette. Par contre nous avions une chambre minuscule, sans rangement, ce qui est vraiment pénible quand on y reste plusieurs jours. Le petit déjeuner est plus que sommaire et le jus de fruit n'en a que le nom, comme le café.

Its the greek version of a low to average american motel. Clean, well placed and the staff are polite. Dont expect any greek xtras either in gifts or help. Well placed for major attraction and with ok soundproofing. Free breakfast but dont expect anythimg amazing i mostly stopped by the bakery next door instead. Many other restaurants close and subway tour bus area.

The only thing we liked about this place was the location to Monastiraki, Syntagma, transit, Parthenon. Everything is within walking distance. The property smells like an old Vegas casino with smoking everywhere. The breakfast shouldn't be called that. Not sure if we paid extra for it, but if we did, we deserve a refund. Didn't really engage or need the staff. The cleaning lady was nice and hooked us up with whatever we needed. The bed is super hard and not comfortable. Would look elsewhere should we come back to Athens. If you are looking for a very wallet friendly place to try to sleep after a long day of walking, this could be it. I am sure there are much nicer options for a little bit more money out there.

Very near the market and Monastraki Square. Neat rooftop. Despite the hotel being older, there is some nice charm with the elevator and furnishings. Breakfast was ok, and it was available early at 7am.

Hotel Cecil is in a very convenient position, very close to Monastiraki Square, near restaurants, the train station, and also The Plaka. The double room I had was quite small with a small bathroom - but it was functional. The included breakfast was good with a lovely Breakfast lady (though quite reserved)
