This is a good hotel in an amazing location adjacent to the main piazza in Bergamo alta. It has its own restaurant, indoor and outdoor dining. Plus a small private and secure car park.

Lovely clean hotel with friendly staff in the old town of Bergamo. Rooms good size with good wi-fi, bathroom was quite small but usable. Note there are no lifts and the rooms are on upper floors above the restaurant but the staff helped us with our luggage without even being asked. There was no air conditioning in the room if you go during a hot period but the ceiling fan was more than adequate for our needs.

Excellent location at the Piazza Vecchia in Cittá alta. Not suirable for driving car, taxi or walking is the best way to get there. Nice restaurant and good quality on the breakfast. Excellent coffee and super friendly staff!

When we arrived in Bergamo mid afternoon we found the hotel to be closed. There was a sign on the wall outside saying the hotel is definitely open and showed a map and phone # where to go. No one answered the bell or phone and after 45 minutes in the rain we walked to a nearby hotel who showed us to our room. We received no notification. The hotel itself was deserted with no access to any facilities (restaurant, terrace, etc). Disappointing. Hotel shower extremely small and difficult to use.

Super hotel, perfect geleden in de oude stad van Bergamo. De kamer was enorm groot en heel netjes. Ontbijt was prima. Als klant van het hotel kregen we 10% korting in het restaurant, dat heel lekker was. Enig min punt: ik had op de site gezien dat er parkeerplaatsen beschikbaar zouden zijn. Het id wel zo maar je moet de auto in een parkeergarage plaatsen voor 25€. Dat staat niet op hun website.

This hotel is only rated 2 star's, but we found it incredibly clean and comfortable. The location is at the corner of the main town square, so you couldn't beat it. It is extremely quiet and the breakfast is buffet style. We ate in the restaurant the first night and although it was more expensive than a lot of the other restaurants we ate in, the quality of the food and service was exceptional and worth the money. Service is at the core of this hotel. All the staff were very warm, welcoming and friendly. Special mention to the head barman Diego, The best cocktail maker and truly one of the nicest people you could meet. He is so passionate about not only cocktails, but Coffee! If you do decide to stay here, don't expect the Ritz, but DON'T expect 2 Star's either. Il Sole is so much more. We will be recommending it to all our friends and hopefully returning. Bergamo is one place that does live up to the hype.

Stayed 4 nights. Hotel is in the centre of the Citta Alta and perfectly positioned. Not far away from the airport bus stop or the funicular. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Room was spacious and very quiet, bed was extremely comfortable. Bathroom a little dated but lots of fluffy white towels. Everywhere in the hotel was absolutely spotless. The breakfast was lovely, fresh fruit, bread, croissants, meats and cheese and boiled eggs. Great coffee. We loved Bergamo and our stay at Il Sole and would highly recommend both!

Excellent stay. Hotel is spotlessly clean. Very friendly staff, good breakfast and nice food in the hotel restaurant. Everything is in walking distance and the hotel is situated in a beautiful area. I would highly recommend this hotel. This hotel might be 2 star but the service is 6 star all the way! 10/10

Nice property, staff was very accommodating and friendly. We got a room with a double bed and a single bed and the room was spacious. If you drive you have to park in a parking garage a couple blocks a way. Call the hotel before hand and they can make a reservation in the parking garage for you. You will need to pay the parking garage 25€ a day. However you can stop at the hotel first and drop off your baggage and then go park. The hotel is right in the center and you’re able to walk around and see the sights of Bergamo. Lovely

The restaurant food was very good however, the waiter was surly and unpleasant. The rooms are very noisy. A window in one of the rooms down the hall apparently wouldn't close and for at least an hour, someone was banging on it. Staff talking in hall reverberated, rolling suitcases, dropping and jangling keys sound like they're happening in your room. Carpets/rugs would help.

The hotel is in a fantastic location just off the main square of the upper city. There are numerous bars and restaurants all within easy walking distance. The room was spacious with good storage and a balcony with a beautiful view. Free WiFi. The bathroom was very small, particularly the shower and the toiletries not the most expensive. Staff were fabulous, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was lovely and the coffee fantastic.

Det hyggeligste hotel lige midt i Bergamos gamle by. Fantastiske senge, vi havde den flotteste udsigt fra værelset af, og personalet er smilende og imødekommende. En KÆMPE anbefaling herfra, og helt sikkert et hotel vi kommer til at benytte igen.

Check in was swift, following the receptionist to our room through the maze of quirky corridors, up and down stairs only added to the charm of the hotel. The multitude of paintings, pictures and furniture are amazing. Breakfast was just what we needed to start our day and the service and chats with the receptionist/waiter were first class. A great place to stay right on the square.

Perfect location for visiting the old town. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Everywhere in the hotel very clean, breakfast was good, plenty of fresh fruit. The room was hot as no air con but there was a ceiling fan and portable fan, the wc/shower area was small but not a problem for us. I would recommend and would definitely stay there again on future visits to Bergamo.

Stayed 4 nights. Hotel is in the centre of the Citta Alta and perfectly positioned. Not far away from the airport bus stop or the funicular. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Room was spacious and very quiet, bed was extremely comfortable. Bathroom a little dated but lots of fluffy white towels. Everywhere in the hotel was absolutely spotless. The breakfast was lovely, fresh fruit, bread, croissants, meats and cheese and boiled eggs. Great coffee. We loved Bergamo and our stay at Il Sole and would highly recommend both!

Excellent location at the Piazza Vecchia in Cittá alta. Not suirable for driving car, taxi or walking is the best way to get there. Nice restaurant and good quality on the breakfast. Excellent coffee and super friendly staff!

The hotel is in a fantastic location just off the main square of the upper city. There are numerous bars and restaurants all within easy walking distance. The room was spacious with good storage and a balcony with a beautiful view. Free WiFi. The bathroom was very small, particularly the shower and the toiletries not the most expensive. Staff were fabulous, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was lovely and the coffee fantastic.

We loved this hotel. Small. True old historic hotel. You give up some things, but make it all back and more. Such as opening your window and looking across the centuries of history; or the concert level violinist who plays all day, from phantom of the opera to Mozart and everything in between. Just stay here. Oh BTW. The restaurant was excellent. We thought it was the best dinner we had after a month in country. The staff jumps if you need a favor.

The restaurant food was very good however, the waiter was surly and unpleasant. The rooms are very noisy. A window in one of the rooms down the hall apparently wouldn't close and for at least an hour, someone was banging on it. Staff talking in hall reverberated, rolling suitcases, dropping and jangling keys sound like they're happening in your room. Carpets/rugs would help.

This hotel is only rated 2 star's, but we found it incredibly clean and comfortable. The location is at the corner of the main town square, so you couldn't beat it. It is extremely quiet and the breakfast is buffet style. We ate in the restaurant the first night and although it was more expensive than a lot of the other restaurants we ate in, the quality of the food and service was exceptional and worth the money. Service is at the core of this hotel. All the staff were very warm, welcoming and friendly. Special mention to the head barman Diego, The best cocktail maker and truly one of the nicest people you could meet. He is so passionate about not only cocktails, but Coffee! If you do decide to stay here, don't expect the Ritz, but DON'T expect 2 Star's either. Il Sole is so much more. We will be recommending it to all our friends and hopefully returning. Bergamo is one place that does live up to the hype.

Lovely hotel in the heart of Alta Città. Staff were very friendly and the accommodation was clean and well maintained. The funicular railway is very near and therefore easy to get to the accommodation. Only downside is no air-conditioning but has a ceiling fan and is safe to leave windows open. Really good hotel.

Staff were lovely and very helpful, room was spacious and clean , it is a lovely building in the heart of the Citta Alta which made for an excellent location . Beds were comfy but unfortunately no air con in the room as was explained to us on arrival as it was not possible to install . However everything else about this hotel is great including the lovely breakfast in the morning .
