5 Balconi B&B

Upon arrival, the host sits down with you to design your breakfast and give you valuable advice around town. Very knowledgeable, follow the restaurant recommendations! Breakfast was a real treat, with fresh bread from the bakery. The shared-bathroom situation (two are available, both with showers) was not a problem at all. Our room faced the busy street, with some car noise even at night. Surprisingly, we were not bothered by it. Heavy shutters at the balcony helped and also made the room completely dark. We had a great stay all around!

My hosts Rob & Cristina are incredible! Extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the local areas. Great advice & clear instructions on what to see, where to eat & how to go. And they will go out of their ways to try to provide assistance as far as possible. I had an ankle sprain & stayed indoors the whole day on my last day in Catania. Rob bought me pizza for dinner & Cristina helped me get a taxi to the airport the next day. I cannot thank them enough. Grazie mille! Location wise, 5 Balconi is just 5-10 mins away from the fish market, Piazza del Duomo, and the Alibus stop (for the Airport). All the major sights are also within walking distance. Plenty of good restaurants nearby. Excellent! Note that there are two bathrooms to be shared by guests & there is some street noise. Ear plugs are provided on-site. All in all, HIGHLY HIGHLY recommended!

Rob and Christina are brilliant. Rob is a great chap. Affable, considered and considering with a generous heart and stupendous taste in music. He has an encyclopaedic knowledge of the good, the bad and the rip off in the vicinity; straying from his wisdom is inadvisable. He and Christina have anecdotes aplenty, and Christina in full flow is a sight to behold - a sister cat - her eyes glow. We had an extended stay, so, we had a good look at Rob and Christina's operation and found fault difficult to locate. Everything was cool (It is hot in Catania), clean and up to spec. The rooms are well decorated and appointed with curious photographs of bygone Sicilian times. The eponymous balconies afford a view to the bustling street of car horns, gesticulating arms and convenience store blues. You can sit on the balcony and watch a version of reality unfold and be perfectly content it authentic. The place has a beguiling antiquity, its peeling facades sun brushed in decaying charm, marbled palaces inside, though litter on the streets is problematic and needs addressing. Five Balconi is well located, a short walk from a castle and a fistful of Trattoria. Listen to Rob/Christina, we ventured beyond their advice once and came a cropper. Just think Rob/Christina know best and your holiday will be much improved. I dropped Rob's name at 'Da Antonio' and miraculously got a table without a reservation. We loved Catania and we loved our stay at 5 Balconi with Rob and Christina.

Cristina and Rob are very personable and ready with reccomendations for eating, sight seeing and Catanian lore. The elevator is a plus up 3 floors.. The room and bed were very comfortable and the breakfast much like home.

Værten er super sød og giver dig et kort over byen og viser hvor de forskellige seværdigheder er. Han er utrolig hjælpsom og deler gerne ud af hans viden om de forskellige steder/byer der skal opleves og hvordan man nemmest kommer frem og hvor der er godt at spise m.m. Internettet virkede upåklageligt og man får frisk morgenmad hver dag, lige efter hvad man kunne ønske sig. Fri adgang til koldt vand, kaffe, te og frugt. Husk ørepropper, da der er en del støj fra vejen. Catania er simpelthen en fantastisk by.

The B&B provides an excellent breakfast with local bread and fresh fruit and the owners make sure to provide a pastry to your preferences. They also gave us some very nice recommendations for food and drinks around Catania. We can look back on an excellent four night stay and definitely recommend this bed and breakfast, which we found offers a fantastic quality for the price.

Nous avons apprécié l'excellent accueil de Rob qui nous a offert à notre arrivée une boisson de bienvenue. Rob est très serviable, il a pris le temps de nous présenter sa ville (bien mieux que l'Office de tourisme), ses bonnes adresses et les sites à visiter. Il nous a laissé le choix entre deux chambres. Il a pris soin de recueillir nos préférences pour le petit déjeuner qui était excellent. Une adresse de charme pourvue d'un ascenseur. Seul inconvénient : le samedi la rue est assez bruyante.

The hosts are super kind. Would suggest anyone to stay here. Overall great. The keys are a little sensitive but overall was a good stay.

The entrance to the property is pretty off putting. Having 4 keys to get from the gate to my room a bit intimidating. No lights in the stairwell that I could find. But the host, a British expat, was helpful and delightful as was the quirky and fun interior of his apartment. He arranged for a car to the airport for a predawn pickup. I spent very little time there but it was convenient to the airport,

Absolutely incredible stay! Everything about Cinco Balconi was amazing. The apartment was spotless, beautifully maintained, and the bed was one of the most comfortable we’ve ever slept in. The breakfasts were absolutely incredible—fresh, delicious, and a perfect way to start the day. But what truly made the difference was the host, Rob. He went above and beyond to help us—even with things that had nothing to do with the accommodation. His kindness, attention to detail, and genuine care made our trip unforgettable. We would absolutely recommend this place to anyone visiting Catania.

Christina and her partner went out of their way to ensure my stay was first rate in every way. And the accommodation is both charming and spotlessly clean. If in Catania again I won’t hesitate to stay with them again.

We had a truly wonderful experience staying at 5 Balconi.The place was clean, comfortable, and exactly as described. The location was perfect, making it easy to explore and enjoy the area. The host was super friendly and incredibly helpful, going above and beyond to make sure we had a fantastic holiday. They even created daily plans and recommended places to visit, which made our trip so much easier and more enjoyable. It really felt like they made it their mission to ensure we had the best time possible. Another highlight was the wonderful breakfast served each morning – fresh, delicious, and the perfect way to start the day. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay and would definitely return. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relaxing, well-organized, and memorable holiday!

Vi havde en fantastisk oplevelse med Rob som vært, han var hele vejen igennem hjælpsom, og gav os alt den viden vi skulle bruge igennem vores ophold. Vi kunne selv vælge hvad vi ville have til morgenmad, og hvornår. Værelserne og stedet havde en fantastisk charme! Vi kunne sagtens komme igen hvis vi skulle ende i Catania igen.

Stilvolle Einrichtung , wunderschöne Zimmer . Man hat sich sofort wohlgefühlt. Reichhaltiges Frühstück , nettes Personal . Gute Organisation , per Mail oder WhatsApp immer gut erreichbar , reibungsloses Einchecken,. Würden es jedem wärmstens weiterempfehlen. Wir kommen sehr gerne zurück !

Rob was a fantastic host, great communication before arrival, friendly, greeted with cafe latte, gave map of area and recs for places to visit nearby, accommodates for gf dietary needs and early breakfast before departure, arranged for airport car service, area is gritty but safe and a few mins walk from bus and to central sites. Highly recommend!

Only good things to say about Cristina and Rob and their wonderful, welcoming B&B in Catania. Lovely people, right in the heart of town, and so helpful. Very cute accommodation and lovely breakfast - I'd never tried pistachio croissants and the ones Cristina buys were a dream!
