Hampton by Hilton Birmingham Jewellery Quarter

The staff were accommodating and friendly. The breakfast service was mixed. Some days the service was efficient and the hot breakfast was well stocked, some days there wasnt anything left of some choices. The waffle machine was quite dirty as well so I didnt want to use it. The gym was poorly maintained. Only one treadmill which didnt even work every day. However, the room was reasonably clean and houskeeping were really nice. The bar area was clean and bright with a nice atmosphere. The hotel is fair value and I would recommend it / stay there again if I am in the area.

Staff very professional and friendly. Secure car park 5 minutes walk.

Breakfast included was a bonus. Everything worked as it should. 2 hotels with the same name caused inconvenience Some staff's English wasn't good and made a few things difficult. No onsite parking was a bit of a pain.

I was very pleasantly surprised by the Hampton by Hilton! Room - nicer than it appeared in photos. Had all the amenities that we required for our 2 night stay and was spacious enough for a short trip. There was a mini Smeg fridge in the room which was handy for storing drinks/food - we had requested a fridge in advance - I am unsure if the other rooms have fridges so it is worth checking in advance if you require this. The bed in our room was probably one of the worst quality hotel beds that we have ever had - we did manage to sleep, however it is just a poor quality bed. A member of staff informed us that they are in the process of changing the beds. Although the room was clean overall, an area which had been missed was under the bed (which we only discovered shortly before departure) - there were bottles left behind from previous guests. The bathroom was fine and clean and a reasonably powerful shower. Area - hotel is well located and is within walking distance to the city centre (approx 20/25 mins). Staff - extremely friendly and accommodating and made our stay extremely enjoyable - 5/5 for the staff! Parking - hotel does not have its own parking, however there is a secure NCP close by, or on street parking. Food - Breakfast was included the room rate, however we did not try it so cannot comment. Gym - small, but clean and airy with some cardio machines and free weights. Value for money - we attended for an event, so prices higher than normal.

Excellent for a 1 night stay in Birmingham. Metro is right behind the hotel so very convenient for getting to city centre, nice cosy/comfortable bar and great breakfast! No complaints!

The hotel had extremely noisy beds and no parking but offered an NCP for £30!! We found parking 10 mins away for £10 but there's parking right to the side of the hotel for £6! This would have been more convenient with luggage and children in tow

This, is a very good hotel in general, its clean and the staff are very friendly. The only let down on this visit was the lack of beer options, with only being one beer on draught in stock, and frankly even this was undrinkable.

Management need to look at this hotel. Lift was broken, no working AC in communal areas. Breakfast was a disaster, they ran out of food, chef had to cook more which was only available at end of service. Both coffee machines out of action. Staff were being abused by guests which was terrible to witness. Clearly not a seamless service and staff looked like they had been abandoned to get on with it

The room has flies and the pillow is not clean. The room is noisy.

Room very clean! Had own iron and iron board which is a nice touch! Reception friendly and helpful. Nice big single bed! Very happy with my stay.

Room was very nice, with comfortable bed and pillows. Bathroom was nice too. Poor maintenance and cleaning though - bathroom door didn't close properly, and the cups and cutlery in the room was dirty. Buffet breakfast wasn't bad, but they use the awful powdered scrambled eggs and the fruit was the packet frozen variety.

Tea coffee not replenished in 4 days Dirty cups and dishes left in room and not replaced Bathroom door damaged and difficult to open and close

The hotel was advertised close to the Christmas Market but it was a long walk away from it. Also the sofa bed was uncomfy and caused itching. Moulds in bathroom and carpet not hoovered.

Hotel lounge area is beautiful. Great selection of food for buffet breakfast and staff manage this well. Rooms were nice, clean on arrival but felt a bit too squashed for a triple room. Some dust around the room such as on bedroom frame and cabinets in bathroom. Sofa bed mattress was uncomfortable to sleep on but normal double bed mattress was fine. Second day at hotel, cleaner's didnt clean room despite promising they would come later. Told reception staff a few hours later whilst went outside and they again promised it would be cleaned but on our arrival room was still not cleaned. We complained to reception but disappointing they said cleaners wouldnt come back despite earlier promises. This ruined our overall experience as everything was to a good standard.

The only down side was that the bathroom had a terrible smell.luckily there was the 2 doors we could shut so we couldn’t smell it in the bedroom.

The hotel is clean and tidy but looking very tired and could do with some investment and a deep clean of the carpets ..... The bed was very soft and lumpy.......hotel is a good location to the arena and the town

Clean and modern. Nice bedroom and bathroom. Next step up from Premier Inn.

Hotel clean & tidy & friendly staff, however we did not sleep properly all night as the aircon was not working & the room was so hot, we could hear a few other customers complain of the same upon checkout so it was obviously a problem

Breakfast was quaint but enjoyable. Staff were always huffing or complaining. Any issues brought up to staff were quickly dismissed. I dont think the price they charge is reflected in anyway within the hotel. Wifi was tempermental at best and the tv didnt work. Transport access was great as right next to a tram stop but also next to train tracks so hard to get a good night sleep, especially on the hard bed. Staff attitude was definitley the worst part of the experience and we have devided not to use the chain again due to this. Only redeeming factor was the transport access and the breakfast.

The property was clean and comfortable maybe slightly outdated and in need of a bit of revamp but didn't not impact our stay at all. The lock on our door was broken and the bathroom door didn't close properly but the room was clean and well presented the bed was comfy and we slept well. Breakfast was okay

I found the bed uncomfortable and there was a constant noise in the room when trying to sleep coming from outside (not other guests - it sounded like a constant knocking noise from outside)

The hotel was generally very nice. The only issue I had was the bed which was extremely uncomfortable. We didn’t sleep a wink the whole night. It was squeaky every time we turned over, almost as if it was lined with plastic.

I think for the money that this is a cracking little hotel. The staff were extremely hard working and friendly. Check in was fast and efficient and everywhere was clean and tidy. The rooms are basic but modern and comfortable with everything you need. I couldn’t believe that breakfast was included for the price we paid, and it was plentiful and a good selection. We only stayed for one night for a performance at Utilita Arena. Although a little further out, we soon mastered the trams. The stop is right behind the hotel (St Paul’s is the stop for the hotel) and we could hop on and go into town and get off at Brindey Place which is on Broad Street. I use a mobility scooter and they are all set up for this, just get on in one of the carriages that has the disabled stickers on the door and the sills are kerb level so straight on and off. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again when I next visit Birmingham.

Good quality rooms, everything we needed. Clean and comfortable. Arrived at around 5pm, receptionist was uninterested and asked me to sign paperwork without explaining what I was signing for. No please or thank you so I assume poorly trained staff. Improved experience later in evening when I went to ask for extra teabags and was advised to avoid 9am onwards for breakfast - much friendlier and helpful lady.

Property was well presented with nice breakfast. Checkout was however very slow (only one person in the desk in a Saturday morning) which then meant I missed my train.

Amazing trip to Birmingham. Hotel was in a good location, staff very friendly and helpful. We had an issue in our room with A/C, Richard took ownership of the issue and changed our room. All staff were nice. Plenty of car parks close by to park in at a reasonable price. Breakfast was excellent. Bar nice as well. Will visit again.

Brilliant stay. Slight confusion while checking in, I believe due to a new member of staff but was no problem in the end. Would definitely stay again.

Expected a little more standard from Hilton. Staff were polite enough but not very professional by chewing gum and eating. One staff member from the reception took a plate of food from the breakfast buffet for herself and ate it behind the reception.

Overall impression is that it is short staffed- the staff themselves are pleasant but often just 2 people having to deal with all areas of check-in, bar etc. Breakfast was nice but no viable food options otherwise- asked for chips in the afternoon and receptionist rolled her eyes and 5 mins later brought something that was undercooked and evidently heated in the microwave. Room (021) had an interconnecting door and could hear every word that was being spoken by the neighbours, running water in the shower etc which was then worse after they returned at 2am from their night out. Did not result in a relaxing break. Quite a walk from the city centre but room itself was nice. Liked the products in the bathroom and the shower itself.

Reception staff and breakfast staff all very nice and helpful

Check in was delayed for my booking by approx half an hour which meant we had to rush to make a reservation- rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very crowded and lots of items kept running out, overall was an okay experience

My family spent 5 nights in the hotel and it wasn’t a good experience for us. The room was so hot, we had 2 days without our bins emptied despite calling the reception and showing the staff the picture of the bins they asked us to leave outside our door. We forgot a wallet and a parcel, but the hotel staff were not helpful at all when we called them. They said the stuff we forgot couldn’t be located because staff are unable to enter rooms, and house keeping staff couldn’t locate it despite describing where the items were left. Some of the receptionists even hand up on you while on the phone. Just a waste of money, we spent nights sweating because of heat and nothing was done about it.

For a 3.5 srar hitel it wasnt sctually thst bad. Area not nice at all. Very close to bus/tram stops

Easy access to Birmingham next to tram, breakfast is busy if you go late .but would recommend it if you not out late as a good place to stay

As a lady travelling alone for work (30s), I did not feel safe walking from the city centre to the hotel (15min walk) in the dark after work around 6pm. I went to the fuel starion about 50m up the street for a bittle of water to take back to the room around 6-6.30pm too and the door to the garage shop was locked. Says it all. Would not return even though the hotel room itself was nice and modern and clean, comfy bed, the corridors were awful, maze like to my room ans felt like going to the toilet in a Wetherspoons.

The staff was quite good,the room spotless the bed very comfortable and a 50 inch or more TV .The hotel is next to St Paul's tram station assemble from New Street train station follow signs to Metro ,walk left out of hotel past garage you will see Tesco Extra across the road bigger food store .

An easy walk into the city centre when the weather allows, the tram stop outside is convenient for a 7 min journey into the city centre and Birmingham New Street station. Not too far from the city centre for a late night taxi

Checking in was easy. We had a adapted room on the ground floor. Staff friendly. Stay here often as close to the tram into Birmingham bullring

Over visiting our son who is working in Birmingham. What a Lovely Hotel the staff, rooms and value for money is brilliant. Would definitely recommend. Only a 15 minute walk into city centre which was great getting in our steps everyday

We really enjoyed our stay. The staff were all very friendly, tasty breakfasts with plenty of choice and the location is great. Close by the Jewellery Quarter and 2 minute walk to the metro. Would definitely stay again

There was no breakfast left when we came down, they'd ran out of some items

Room was fine - food and restaurant were atrocious. Ordered an “American style” burger, and got something out of a packet which was microwaved warm. Disgusting!

+ breakfast at 7.30am (basic, but had everything I needed and not bad for free) + location ok (25 minute walk into city; team stop directly outside hotel) + staff generally friendly + gym ok (small, but did job for me) + room comfortable (although a touch small for family of 4) - breakfast at 9.30am (very busy and staff finding it hard to cope - lots of items out of stock, e.g. hash browns, croissants, any type of fruit. No clean forks or glasses available) - nearest "secure" parking was 15 mins away, and even that gets poor reviews. Ended up parking 25 minute walk from hotel, not ideal - room sink still had hairs in it from previous occupant - room key didn't work, hauled bags back down to reception to get a replacement; no apology from staff

Comfortable rooms and lovely staff at reception. The breakfast was somewhat disappointing - not much choice for vegans unfortunately (only sugary cereals, bread and hash browns and baked beans).

This hotel has friendly staff. The cleanliness was fine. Access to the City Centre could not be faulted. However, it lacks choice in respect of breakfast and evening meals. The overall presentation needs improvement. In addition there seems to be a lack of local eateries around the hotel.
