Staybridge Suites Birmingham by IHG

Breakfast was very good, staff were kind. Location was very central for the train station. The social event (some drinks and nibbles on Mon-Wed night) was pleasant. The room was nice and well laid out. Up on the 11th floor, it was not noisy. The only significant downside was the Guest Laundry. This was free (bring your own detergent), with 5 washing machines and 5 driers. They had signs up about "etiquette" for the room, asking people _not_ to remove others washing, but also reminding people to get their washing out fast. All good signs for a well run guest laundry. The negative. One of the 4 washer was out-of-order. Two had been left full of cleaning clothes by the housekeeping team for an entire evening. And one was part full of stinking, stagnant water, which must have been taken days before it smelt that bad. So... housekeeping is miss-using the machines, and maintenance is not checking them. I was able to use the 1 machine which was left, which was the main reason I picked this hotel. I liked everything else, but if this core infrastructure is not being looked after, I fear I need to think some more for the future.

The room was spacious, clean, and had a very comfortable bed, making for a pleasant stay. However, the lifts were a bit of a letdown, with long waits at busy times. Overall, a good experience despite the minor inconvenience.

Great location for train station, Bull Ring and local bars and restaurants. Apartment very clean with tea/coffee facilities, kitchen appliances, cleaning products, ironing board/iron. Discount on car park nearby. Buffet breakfast, very fresh and continually topped up, tea/coffee available all day in longe area. Would stay again!

Really easy check in, friendly reception staff, clean rooms and very well equipped with everything you would need. I was extremely impressed with the laundry room service as I had stained a couple of pieces of clothing and needed to get them washed before travelling.

comfortable and big sized room, with kitchenette. location is perfect right in the heart of town. no parking at the hotel but they have a car park 8min away the guests can use at a discounted rate. breakfast was actually better than I expected. all in all we would stay again.

Hotel is in a central convenient location, around 10 minutes walk from Train Station. There are plenty of nearby shops, eateries and convience stores to meet all your needs. Hotel is modern, clean. Check-in was quick and easy; albeit reception is located on 2nd floor so need lift access before getting to your room. The lady checking us in was pleasant and engaging. After check-in we had to make our way back to reception as only 1 of the key would work. We asked for dental kit but this is chargeable at this property. One of the lift is out of service so they have allow guests to use the service lift if needed. We went out of the property a few times and had trouble getting back in through the automated doors. Sensors seems to be disabled or temperamental. There were instructions to press the button for entry at either side but that doesn't seem to work too well for us. I have booked via Expedia with this stay instead of using my IHG profile. I have emailed ahead and supply my IHG membership details so my preference could be met. I received an email to advise I won't get benefits or points for stay. On arrival none of of arrival preference on my IHG profile had been looked at. We were allocated a room lowest floor and nearest to the lift. Also there was no special preference for being Expedia Gold VIP. Perhaps this hotel does not participate recognition with Expedia. Overall, really like the location, ambience, breakfast was plentiful. Staff seems polite and friendly

Perfect base for a night away to watch a conert. Dont be fooled by the area. Small descreet entrance off street into a lovely haven. Quiet roomy and well kept. Mini apartments with cooking facilities if you fancy that. Well kept rooms with plenty of space. Convenient location for City Centre attractions. We went to Utilita Arena. 20 minute walk. Breakfast good 24 hour tea and coffee and plenty of things able to purchase in their Pantry 24/7

Great stay. Aparthotel was very modern and clean. Couldn’t fault it. Good staff, nice breakfast. B4 car park is a 7 min walk. Discounted car parking £14.40 for 24 hours. Great value!

From the friendly welcome to the clean well appointed rooms we couldn’t recommend Staybridge Suites more highly. The buffet breakfast is a nice addition and was frequently restocked and 24 hour coffee was very welcome. One thing that would be nice could be a nightlight in the bathroom to save having to put the main lights on in the middle of the night if your staying as a couple.

First time here and very impressed. I had a studio room which had a well equipped kitchen so it was like a normal sized hotel room with added kitchen facilities. Very clean and tidy. Decent shower too. Used the gym which was well equipped too. No bar or restaurant on site but that’s the point of being in self catering. There was a social event though, which was free beer and wine plus some very nice snacks for an hour. Also breakfast is included in the room cost and that was very good too.

Very clean, moden apartments in a great location in centre of Birmingham. Staff all very friendly. Rooms are a good size and comfortable. Bullring 5 minutes walk, Utilita Arena 15 minutes walk. Would definitely stay here again.

Paint peeling off the wall in the bathroom. Bathroom floor tiles filthy especially the grout.

The staff at the hotel were very welcoming. I appreciated the kitchenette in the suite as well as the access to laundry facilities. The breakfast was also amazing, great variety. The proximity to the mall was nice, however we did not want to be outside after dark. The room was mostly clean, however the bathroom and carpet had an old/unclean smell.

Clean room, very friendly staff, and great location. Parking is nearby around 5 mins walk. Breakfast is decent with buffet of hot and cold food. Only slight niggle which wasn't the hotels fault, but was other guests who were inconsiderate late at night with noise but the hotel staff handled the situation right away to the their credit. We would come back again when we are in Birmingham.

Good location for central Birmingham. Our room had a broken flush that was fixed later on the afternoon we reported it. The room had an odd musty smell that we couldnt place. It made everything smell horrible! Room overall was a good size. Breakfast was ok, food range good but nothing special.

Great value. Rooms are big enough with comfy beds and excellent bedding. Spacious bathroom with HOT showers. The kitchenette is useful for longer stays. No noise from outside, especially higher up in the building. Buffet breakfast had a selection of hot items, breads, cereals, pastries, yoghurt and fruit - all excellent.

The room was bigger than expected, with a mini kitchen/lounge which i would have made use of if I were staying longer than a single night. Very comfortable and the staff were very attentive and polite.

Great welcome and lovely room. The only problem we had was that the air-conditioning in our room did not work. We were on the 12th floor and it was not possible to open the windows so you need the air-conditioner to work properly. When we arrived it appeared to be working as it was making a noise and when we got back to our room at the end of the day it seemed hot so we just turned the temperature control down when we went to bed thinking that it would bring the temperature in the room down but instead the room became more like a sauna overnight. We both had a very restless night made worse by a very thick duvet. Eventually my husband went down to reception at about 3-4am to see if we could have another room. It really was unbearable! Unfortunately the hotel was booked out. The two very helpful staff explained that they could adjust the temperature on their computer as it obviously was not working properly in the room. This worked well and we were able to get some sleep. We wish we had gone down earlier! The staff were incredibly helpful. We just wanted to make other guests aware that if there is a problem with the air-conditioning, the very helpful reception staff can adjust the temperature on their computer. We would definitely stay again as it is a great location, great rooms and a lovely buffet breakfast.

The room was very spacious, clean, quiet and very comfortable. The kitchen was very well equipped and very useful for a single traveller. I have used this chain when traveling in the USA. The UK version did not disappoint. I will certainly use them again.

Really amazing place to day. Staff were outstandingly friendly and helpful - especially Ali on our check-in. Rooms seem well-insulated sound-wise, we were halfway between the lift and end of corridor and weren't disturbed by any noise other than the occasional door being closed too vigorously. The room was the perfect size for us (a couple). Bed was perfect, not too hard and not too soft. Four pillows - two soft and two firm. Bathroom was spacious, with a big shower area, though we would have liked a bath. The only thing missing was a loveseat (small 2-seater) rather than single chair, as there were two of us. We were pleasantly surprised to find a dishwasher in the kitchenette. Kitchenette was very nice, basically a full kitchen except no oven - not sure if the microwave worked as one, we couldn't tell from the buttons. The only problem was that the turntable in the microwave was frozen - though we didn't mention it to reception as we were only there three nights and it didn't make much difference to us. Nice variety of hot and cold breakfast items and good quality/well-made. The only small issue we had was that on Monday we went down when breakfast opened but the hot items didn't come until 15 mins later. The whole building looks well and regularly maintained and is very clean. Gym area is not huge and oriented towards cardio but still looks better than those pictured in other apartment-hotels in the same price bracket. Changing rooms and extra towels provided too.

We stay here every year for strictly and it’s a great location with everything in close distance. Polite and helpful staff and great rooms. Highly recommend.

Good central location and really good facilities in the suite. Breakfast distinctly average and the dining area furniture very tired. There were not enough tables when we first arrived at breakfast but some guests soon departed so we were able to get seated. Staff very polite and friendly. Check in was slow due to the number of guests trying to check in during the afternoon.

We had a wonderful experience staying here. Room was quiet, spotless and very comfortable. The staff went above and beyond to help make our stay comfortable.

The TV didn't work and the staff couldn't be more helpful replacing it with a new one. We turned up half an hour before check-in. They had no problem giving us the room early.

Near to New Street station and central to everywhere we wanted to visit. Disappointed that our request which was given to reception staff either was not passed on to housekeeping or housekeeping services failed to fulfil our request. Otherwise great hotel, great location, some staff training required to fulfil guests requests. Initial staff we encountered very helpful & courteous. Lovely breakfast & regularly replenished.

The staff were friendly, but the room was a bit sparse and the furnishings dated. It just didn't feel comfortable, the lighting is stark, the bathroom floor cools etc. It was £170 but felt like a Premier Inn or a Travel Lodge. The location is convenient but not a nice bit of Birmingham city centre.

Loved the amenities in the room and the view across the city, the breakfast was excellent and the staff were lovely too. Location was good for exploring Birmingham and easy walk from the train station although the area near the entrance was a bit rundown.

Really enjoyed my stay here as i came on the train the accommodation was excellent. Not sure i would stay here if i was driving as i prefer parking on site. However when i do come to Brum i usually come on the train from Wales will definitely stay again.

Great place right in city center of Birmingham. Easy access into the hotel, but it feels removed and safe from the city bustle. Friendly staff and welcoming decor. Job well done!

good hotel with friendly staff, but difficult to find. My first visit to Birmingham and was not aware that hotel is situated within a "car free" area with a 7 minute walk to car park.

I booked a "king size" room but upon checking in, the bed was a queen size. When I went back to reception, they indicated that all the beds in the studio rooms were the same size but the website has queen size rooms and king size rooms. The reception staff were great and upgraded us to a two bedroom apartment, which was nice. The free breakfast was really good with hot (eggs, bacon, etc.) and cold (bread, yogurt, cereal, fruit, etc.) items available. The hotel is very centrally located only a few minutes walk from the train station, restaurants and shopping mall.

Breakfast was excellent constantly being manned and replaced in small amounts. Cereals, breads, rolls, baguette, continental, bacon eggs sausage hash browns, yogurt, ham, cheese, etc. very good.

Had a great stay, no problems. Only suggestion would be to give an extra towel in the room. Front desk staff were great snd breakfast was fantastic but the scrambled egg was always super salty so please tell the chef to use less salt! Otherwise perfect stay!
