Ocean Surf Inn & Suites

We were pleasantly surprised at how nice this motel was. The room was clean and well appointed. We had a little deck that gave us a view of the beach thru a walkway. Parking was great. It was walking distance to lots or places to eat/ drink. Motel had lots of beach supplies to borrow which we thought was a really nice touch.

This was a great find!! Steps from the beach they have chairs, towels, games and more for you use at the beach for free. Rooms were great. We’ll definitely stay here again!!

Pros: Very friendly staff! Shaun greeted us, gave us food suggestions and helped us even get into our room early! The place has a cozy atmosphere and a friendly lending library with beach supplies. We loved the rooftop lounge area to have a few drinks at the end of the night. (There is an awesome brewery like 8 min walk away!! ) The area is walkable with quite a few restaurants within 10 min. walking. Our room had a memory foam type mattress and hard flooring. Best part of all was the beach access!!! 2 minute walk!! It was amazing!! The area is so cute and quaint and we even walked to the beach at night to see the moon over the water. Our room had a balcony with a screen door facing towards the water and you could hear the ocean from the room!! It was also pretty clean for the type of hotel it is. Cons: Parking is free, but does fill up fast! I think if we hadn't checked in early we might have missed out on being able to park. Also may be difficult to exit for cars which are low to the ground. The shower had no curtain. Odd. However, we did not talk to them about this, so maybe this is something they could have helped us with. While pretty clean, the walls were dusty. You could see that they had repainted only half the wall and left the old paint on the other half. Did noy impact our stay, just domething we noticed. Overall, we had a wonderful stay!!

When we were there, the elevator was out of order. Hotel manager said they would be there 1st thing that morning to repair it, but we left not knowing when they came. My wife has disabilities and had a hard time going up and down stairs

We had a great time! Good location parking was convenient, ocean was 30 ft away that was Awesome! staff was nice. only negative elevator was broke our week stay.

We liked how convenient this property is to the beach and right off the Pacific Coast Highway. The room was huge and the beds slept well. Easy free parking around the green area right outside the hotel. Nice selection of beach items in the lobby to borrow. Even though it was the busy weekend of the Pacific Airshow, this hotel didn’t price gauge and was very welcoming. A big plus! We didn’t like that the elevator was broken. Despite being in contact several times with the hotel prior to arrival, there was never any mention of a broken elevator. The towels could use an update. All in all, we’d come back, it’s a simple motel but appreciate it at this price point.

Everything was great but parking is tight. I didn’t know you can park in the residential areas without a permit which is a short walk to the beach!

Shaun and his wife really make you feel at home. Fresh coffee right at 7am everyday and they make pancakes for you as well as other breakfast items. We loved our ocean view room and also the rooftop where you can watch the sunset and they have chairs in the outdoor furniture. Just a few hundred yards from the beach. We also love that they have some block towels to walk to the beach with boogie boards. This is our second time staying here and we will stay there every time we come out to.

Location was perfect for being so close to the beach. The room was horrible from time we walked in. There was a horrible smell and found small portion of mildew spot in a/c and curtains. The bed had sand in it, I understand I’m at the beach but I would expect clean sheets when first arriving. The towels were stained and extremely rough.

This place is perfect if you’re looking for a convenient spot close to the beach. There are some things that can be upgraded for a better experience. For one, the sheets while I believe to be clean did have stains. The shower head fell off while showering. The shower curtain needs to be replaced due to mold growth on the bottom.

Nice & kind gentlemen at the reception, but dirty rooms, sub-standart continental breakfast and run-down building. There was hair on the pillow cases, bathtub and sink! There were 2 pairs of socks left/forgotten in the Bible drawer. Toilet trash was not emptied. Towels were permanently stained with a yellow tint and beyond revival. The lamp, the walls, light knobs were all dirty. I can’t understand how this property got 9/10 reviews with such dirty rooms. The breakfast was not self service and you have to request what you want to eat/drink from staff through a make-shift counter. Best thing was being able to walk to the beach! Terrace upstairs was nice but not a great view of the ocean.

Such a cute hotel. We arrived late and Shaun at the front desk was so accommodating for our arrival. The hotel was clean and comfortable. Very easy access to the beach and the hotel has items we could borrow to take to the beach (towels, chairs, etc). We loved our stay!

Staff were excellent and the cleanliness was top notch. I would definitely return again.

Not sure why this place got so many “outstanding” reviews. It’s average at best. Check in was OK, but lobby seemed really cluttered. Lots of dust on the window sill, which is obvious when you’re climbing up the stairs. Once we got to our room, it was pretty tired and beat up. Missing baseboards, missing trim around the door, fixtures pretty old. We had to exchange 2 of our pillowcases due to stains (small but there). The heater was super noisy so we just turned it off. I also don’t like places that don’t have fitted sheets. Glad I had black socks, because the floor was pretty dirty. And In hindsight, we shouldn’t have booked the economy room. Window opened up to a hallway, so had to keep the curtains closed so it felt like a dungeon. We went to the garage to check out the laundry room and it was tiny and dirty - just gross. We ended up going to a laundromat. This hotel looks like they tried to fix some of it up, but they just fell short. I would give them a 6/10…

It was a perfect location! I really enjoyed sitting on the balcony. The room was clean but we did NOT have DAILY housekeeping. We received clean towels after I asked on the third day and that's when they emptied the trash. We had a 5 day stay. There were housekeepers, they just didn't clean our room.

breakfast is rationed and i felt guilty getting my kids both pancakes with cereal. had a hair in the pancake so glad i got them something else. not self serve like other hotels. window in room was left open and no screen on it. brought a couple bugs and dust in. mold in the bathroom shower and missing tiles on the bathroom wall towels are older. parking was almost unattainable at the hotel however parking on the street was easy to get walked to the beach which was awesome and brought toys from the hotel with us. the male owner was very nice. overall this visit was not as comfortable as my first time here

The room itself smelled clean and looked like it had been updated. The bed itself felt like memory foam which is good for me but hubby wasn’t so comfy. The pillows are typical hotel pillows that get worn out pretty quickly but that’s to be expected. The bathroom was clean, the shower water pressure was good. We had a partial view of the ocean off our deck, had fun people watching coming to and from the beach. The parking itself is tight so be prepared for that.

I had a very nice room with a balcony view of the ocean. Neighbors were disrespectful slamming doors. Banging on walls. Breakfast every morning. Room was great, comfy bed, lots of extra towels. I would stay again.

Great budget hotel with each view and walkable to the beach. The Wi-Fi was spotty.

The room was nicely updated with a few blemishes of course. Good location and great offseason rate. The problem we had is the room was 201. The lobby is two stories with a staircase to second level. Every single thing that happened in lobby traveled up and into our room so we heard conversations constantly. Also the maintenance closet is next to the room and somebody was in and out at 4:00 a.m. and was consistently having the door slammed.

Really basic hotel but if you get a balcony it's a view of the water and the beach, very comfortable bed. Sunset Beach is home to some fun restaurants we had a blast at Taco Surf and really good food. The hotel manager is a very nice guy, it's a neat little place right on PCH so make sure you request a balcony away from the highway.

This is a fantastic place near the beach! My only issue I’ve had the past two times is my neighbors above me loudly walking back and forth for hours very early in the am. This is not the hotel’s fault; I just wish people were more considerate when they are above other guests! I will try to only book the third floor in the future.

Ocean surf inn has a prime location. Literally half a block from the beach, easy to get to with this access. The parking under the building was a nice bonus to keep vehicle out of the sun. Continental breakfast was a nice perk and loved the rooftop deck. It is a bit noisy, from people above our room as well as noisy near the elevator. Otherwise, we’d stay again for sure.

We had a wonderful stay at Ocean Surf Inn & Suites. The service was warm and attentive, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The hotel itself is very clean, especially for a small property so close to the beach. While there was a bit of sandiness here and there, it’s totally expected for a beachside location and didn’t take away from the overall cleanliness and comfort. The standout feature is definitely the location — just steps from the beach and within easy driving distance to town. Whether you're looking to spend the day in the sand or head into town for a bite or some shopping, this hotel offers unbeatable access to both.

pls. note that the first day of the stay was great due to a female staff named Leslie - not sure how to spell. she was welcoming, provides door to door services, friendly, Next day so called manager Sean arrives. very rac*st against non-white, refuses to provide service door to door, rude when asked. the owner needs to be told that this live-in manager refuses to be bothered with service request that is known to be part of the job he is being paid for. despite being paid to provide service like replacing items or toilet paper, he responds rudely when asked. this inn is in a beautiful place across the beach. but if you all want a pleasant experience, ask when only Leslie will be working. or find another place. btw do not believe the free breakfast they tack in their description. by this manager's bidding, they ration food like guests are in a gradeschool lunchline. only 2 tiny pieces of pancakes n no more. there is no breakfast spot after you get your little tray on line. they charge too much for this lousy service. STAY AWAY if you want a relaxing vacation.

Convenient to the Beach and walking distance to a lot of restaurants. Taco Surf is down the street and also Turc’s Bar which is iconic for the area. Shaun and his staff are wonderful and very accommodating even when I had to call and tell him we were arriving super late he was kind and courteous. Put my husband’s name on the surf board up front for his birthday. Clean rooms and comfortable sleep. The patio is nice upstairs to hang out and listen to the waves. Only one con, not sure how many people use the patio, but maybe the furniture could be replaced in the future. Other than that it was very nice. Thank you so much.

Loved this spot! It is very convenient for walking to the beach and lots of dining options. Ralph made check in seamless! Our room was clean and spacious! The bed was very firm which I don’t love but I know a lot of people do. We didn’t stay for breakfast but it’s nice that they offer one! We’ll definitely stay here again when we’re back for our next beach vacation!

The manager, Shaun, is always friendly, receptive, and makes fantastic free coffee!! My room was spacious and had a decent sliver of an ocean view. The beach is half a block away and there’s a nice rooftop lounging area.

The hotel was a disaster from the beginning. We had a room booked and so did my daughter and they messed up the reservation and made changes to my reservation without no me ever requesting them and then telling me that my daughter changed them when she had a separate reservation. Sinks were clogged and water drained very slowly. Bed cover was stained and had to request a new one. I would have changed hotels if I could have after the ruined the trip I had planned by no moving and changing my reservation without me asking from ocean view with a king to double queen. Just a horrible experience.

This hotel is not luxury, but location is awesome, with it being walking distance to the beach. They have beach gear to use, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean and the bed was comfy. They make pancakes fresh each morning. Breakfast had several options and they make fresh pancakes in the morning. We chose this place because of its close proximity to the beach. I was happy with my stay here.

Perfect location and loved our 3rd floor ocean view room. We made good use of the loaner beach supplies provided (toys, boogie board, chairs) and found the area safe and easy to navigate and plenty of good food options nearby. Room was clean and comfortable and the rooftop deck is A+

LOVED how attentive & accommodating staff was! Check in was a breeze and the room was clean and spacious. A walk to the beach, and surrounded by many diners, bars, etc. Fantastic stay overall, wish we would have stayed sooner!!

We really enjoyed that this property was beach accessible. They have beach chairs and other beach related items in the lobby for guests to use. There are many dining options close by. The breakfast was perfect for the two of us.

Everything was exactly as advertised!! Perfect for me and my 19 and 13 year old. Small beach town feel only 30 minutes from Disneyland and only 30 SECONDS from the beach!! Excellent value for the price!! Loved the location, rooftop deck, and friendly staff who made breakfast every morning. We did not have a car (though parking is free if you do) so we were also glad to have several local and delicious restaurants within walking distance, too. Highly recommend if you are looking for an affordable, relaxed way to enjoy the beach.

This hotel had a great location (just steps from the beach), free parking, homemade pancakes, comfortable beds…in short, we found it to be our favorite beach hotel stay ever. I can’t wait to go back!

The location is ok, BUT the room suck, there was sand on the top blanket, the breakfast room so small you need to make a 30 minutes line to grab a snack, not wort the price.

The property is close to the beach and has nice restaurants near by. At night there was some noise on the upper floor and the parking is thight. Breakfast had very limited choices some prepackages foods from grocery store.
