Maldron Hotel Manchester City Centre

Over all a very nice, clean hotel with an inviting lobby restaurant and bar. The bed was comfortable and the room a good size. The breakfast had a big selection of food and was very enjoyable. The only negative was a little dust by the workout machines at the gym.

Clean quiet room, discounted parking, good location

Second this me staying here, this time for four nights. It was one of the best value options available over the busy August bank holiday weekend. I used the gym, which was a typical hotel gym with several good cardio machines and some cable weights, but limited free weights. The gym was always quiet and clean. Managed to work well in the lobby/coffee shop area for several hours. WiFi worked well there and in the room. We will definitely look at booking here again.

Great stay. Very comfortable and clean. Breakfast very good. Only slight negative was the gym. It was very small with not much equipment. You also had to go down to reception whenever you wanted to go to the gym & get a pass, which seemed a bit convoluted, especially when every other interaction was digital. Could it not already be on your card?

Modern, clean, team were really friendly and great. Loved the auto check in and check out for convenience.

Parking 2 mins away, £17 per day

Quick and easy self check-in using a machine in the foyer. Discounted parking just around the corner in a Europark (although we did see someone reporting a smashed window the following morning so park at your own risk). The room was spacious, comfortable and well appointed. Would return.

Nice beds, gym and up to date

Room had all amenities inc gowns; pod coffee machine and safe. Very clean and new looking Dining room for breakfast was a good size, tables not on top of each other and light and bright. Option to check in and out online and via self service machines as well as staff. Self service was easy.

Great hotel in a good location for oxford road. Great choice of bars and restaurants close by. The breakfast at the hotel is superb with a vast choice. Also there is a small fitness room which is adequate for a good workout. The rooms are comfortable.

Room smelt and wasn’t very clean, towels had stains on them. Room overall very worn and tired looking. Expensive for essentially a bed and 20 minutes walk to the centre.

The room was very clean and the bottles of water and cookies in the room were a nice touch.

Lovely hotel, comfy bed but one of the pillow cases was really smelly, so had to take it off the pillow. Everything else about the room was fine. Staff great. Breakfast ok

I originally booked here thinking it had an airport shuttle, after realizing it did not, I could not even cancel since the reservation was non-refundable. After checking in the room was nice to the blind eye. Upon looking closer, there were stains on the walls, hand prints on the windows and a stain on one of the body towels. The walls need to be repainted as there are many black marks. Beds were comfortable, but also worried about cleanliness. I would not pay $280 for this room again. Very convenient location and staff were nice enough.

I’ve written to the manager twice since my stay as instructed, due to the stay. Despite providing his email address (that I confirmed as correct at check out via a secondary staff member) - I have been completely ignored. There were so many issues but I’ll keep it brief: From check in, repeated key issues, details I’ll retain for the direct complaint, as I hoped to rectify this prior to any reviews. (It’s 5+ wks since 1st email & 2.5 since follow up) I had to move rooms, both were dirty, we’re talking a good load of old chips under the bed & mould in the bathrooms, 1st bathroom sink wouldn’t drain & what appeared to be waste came back up. The 2nd “upgraded” room, was worse in cleanliness, but I had no energy. The electric went mid stay just in my room (2nd) no shower gel or basic amenities provided in upgrade room that was still dirty & despite requesting some, which was agreed -it never arrived. Manager came to sort electrics late in the evening, I stated I would be making a written complaint, & received his email address there & then. He offered a later checkout & chat then, however, it was late & my son with additional needs, needed to sleep, as did I. I explicitly stated that I’ll be leaving at standard checkout time due to an appointment & that my son needed to sleep & I would email in the coming week. All sorted… 11am checkout, 10am alarm for me, 10:30 for my son & we’re woken up pre 9am with room calls being asked to state the complaint under management instruction!

Carpet was not vacuum and we found previous guest rubbish beside the bin. Overall the lines does not feel fresh.

Friendly staff, but had to remind of VIP Access status, which they didn't know what it is at check-in. Was then told it "might be a 20% off food and drink voucher", but they didn't have any to take. Breakfast is not worth the money - very limited selection, breakfast cocktails heavily watered down. Rooms very tidy, but not cleaned properly (bin was left full from previous occupant, stains on carpet and curtains, hairs in bathroom and bed)

Housekeeping is bad, we hanged the signage for please make room for 2 mornings, nothing was done, called reception, no pick up, i had to go down to the counter personally. worst of it is after telling me they will make the room, i went out for another 2 hrs, and its still not made. then the last morning before the check out day, i did not ask for the room to be made, they entered and refreshed the room, while i was out.

room was clean, though unfortunately housekeeping was poor, second night bins not emptied and coffee and tea not replenished. Rang down to reception and a lovely young lady brought us up some, full of apologies . apart from that it was a good location all public ares clean and all the staff I dealt with were very pleasant and helpful .

Affordable boutique hotel within easy walk of city centre. Large rooms, comfy bed, nice bathroom. Minor issue that the TV only has a handful of channels (not even full Freeview lineup) and lack of a mini fridge even in the King deluxe rooms which would be useful. As others have noted, rooms facing the elevated train tracks are noisy so best to avoid that side. The £17 parking a block away is much cheaper than other hotels in the area.

Lovely stay. Highlights: - breakfast was fantastic (particularly pastries) - good service in reception - TV was good and linked to our devices to watch apps (netflix YouTube etc) - Very comfy big king bed - towels were always replenished Negatives: - very hard to control the temperature - we often woke up very sweaty - lighting is very dim in the rooms - there is a wardrobe with 6 hangers, but no other storage space in the room - we literally lived out of our suitcases - railway is very close and trains were often. Didn't bother us too much but if you were a light sleeper it might.

Room was too warm. Air conditioning kept turning off. Air vent in the bathroom loudly and constantly hissed Room for 3 - two adults and 17 year old. Only provided for 2 people - 2 towels, glasses, bottles of water,biscuits etc.

Love this hotel, great breakfast, comfortable rooms, but ask for high floor and Oxford Road direction view. Room 514 impossible to have window open because of nightlife and railway noise.

Lovely room. BUT directly above the train line and east facing - with the curtains not closing . So it was a sleepless night, And, where is the bathrrom light? I never found it.

I've stayed here a few times now and always had a pleasant stay. Rooms are comfortable and clean with basic but modern decor. TV is a bit of a cheapo model with no access to smart features like streaming or casting but for short stays that isn't a problem. Good breakfast and the hotel is in a decent location close to public transport links and not far from some decent attractions.

Staff nice at check in. Room large but a bit dark! Good coffee in room. Bed comfy, shower decent but a bit weak. Decent breakfast quality. Overall quality compared to a reasonable cost would recommend. Stayed in plenty of places in Manchester and this is better than most without paying loads more.

Clean room, nice big window, there's a mini fridge, a coffee machine and bottled waters provided, as well as bathrobes and slippers. Good shower pressure and easy to turn on. Breakfast was really good and has a variety of options. No rush in the morning on the weekend as breakfast is until 11am. Staff were friendly. Will come back to stay if attending nearby event again.

When we arrived the staff didn’t even acknowledge us at reception even though they could see we had just come in with our bags. The reception wasn’t even busy we were the only ones at the desk and another lady using the machine on the side. No one even directed us to the self service check in machines we just went use the machine ourselves. Once again an excellent stay at The Maldron Hotel. Was warmly greeted by Bijay at reception who assisted us with room selection for our stay of three days. The room was clean and perfect, the bathroom was also spotless. The bed was very comfortable resulting in a good nights sleep. The restaurant buffet breakfast was comprehensive, the choice was excellent and well cooked. We were greeted by Kayode there who remembered us from a previous stay with a beaming smile and once again was very helpful. We thoroughly recommend this hotel to any one for its first class hospitality and easy access to the city centre.

I had a very pleasant stay. The desk staff were very helpful and accommodating. I unexpectedly needed to add a second family member on my last night, and they switched me from a single king to a room with two doubles without hesitation and no additional charge. Also, the breakfast buffet was superb. The area around the hotel is historic and shows its age, but it is very walkable and has considerable options for dining, pubs and transportion. I would stay again.

One of my favourite hotels in Manchester. I've stayed here several times on business. Rooms are modern and spotless. Bar is spacious and a great place to eat drink or work. Great beers on tap including Stella:) Tasty breakfast with good selection. Would be nice if they added veggie sausages. Will definitely stay again

Hotel said we could not check in early but did offer to hold bags. Another person in our party came 5 minutes later after we set about walking the aera, used the automated kiosk and was able to check in right away. Once we returned, we also used the automated kiosk and got checked in early then stood in the lobby for over an hour as the only person at the front desk basically ignored a large group of us all waiting to get our luggage back. This person would wait on people just walking in the door and left us standing. On Saturday evening there was a party that took over the dining area and spilled out into the bar/lounge area. The music was horrifically loud, there was severely inadequate staffing, we could not purchase food, they were out of glasses so we could not get drinks, basically the entire point of our group from around the world all booking at this hotel was the close proximity to our event, the lounge and restaurant for gathering before and after. Saturday is always our big gathering night, and this was an epic failure. Breakfast buffet was always very good, plenty of offerings and nothing allowed to run out. The bar/restaurant on any night other than the Saturday night was great, the service was acceptable. The location of the hotel is within walking distance of anything anyone could need from food offerings to some night life and even an Asda Express directly across the street and a Greggs across the other street so what else does one need?

I would say the overall stay was good, how you would expect, very clean and comfy bed, nice bar area. Until I left a pair of ray ban sunglasses in my room on the table I knew I had done this as I was in a hurry and forgot to grab them on the way out. I realised 1 hour after checkout. I rang the hotel in a worry and was told the room had not been touched as of yet so I instantly felt relieved as they would be found.. or so you’d think. someone went to the room to check and I was told no glasses were found. Extremely disappointing. An experience like this has left me feeling untrustworthy toward this hotel and the situation is unsettling.

We arrived at hotel at 11pm, checked in and couldn’t get into our room and thought our keycards didn’t work. Went back to reception, renewed the keycards and still didn’t work. The receptionist then asked us to go back down for a third time, got someone to change the battery of the lock and still we couldn’t get in. They wanted to get us to the reception (from 11th floor) for the fourth time to sort this out which is completely ridiculous. After all this hassle there was no apology whatsoever. The hotel also did not offer the 20% discount on food and beverage to gold members as suggested. There was also a random vodka bottle hidden in the hairdryer bag. I have stayed here before and this is the second time. Unfortunately ,it has been an unpleasant experience and we will not come back again.

The staff were very helpful I had accidentally booked the wrong hotel and the staff at the hotel fixed this for me.

Good central hotel for everything Manchester has to offer. Staff welcoming. Car park very close by.

Good location for our trip Close to Oxford rd rail station

It was an amazing experience at Maldron. Central to everywhere I needed to go to. Very close to Oxford road train station, bus stop and shopping areas. Food was great as well

First time at this hotel (I’m a regular visitor to Manchester). Would definitely use again. Comfortable, good sized room. Hotel conveniently located for Oxford Rd station. Nice bar area.

Reasonable sized room. Large shower. Clean and light. Close to good restaurants a the Palace Theatre which was why we were there. Quiet location. Staff were friendly and helpful.

The Maldron hotel is in such a convenient area. There are so many food options. The train and bus stops are right around the corner. The staff were very nice and helpful.

Really liked the location of the property. It was nice and met all my needs. Close to train station, coach station and shops were all near by. Will be coming back next time i'm in Manchester.

Breakfast was amazing

Hotel well located near Manchester City Centre. We paid for an Executive room for 2 x nights which was OK however was very bare bones for the price we paid. There was alot of empty space and could gave been furnished alot better. We used the restaurant once and the food would be described as mediocre at best. Cold soup served which was too thick and frozen salmon with very undercooked brocolli spears.Potatoes appeared to come out of a frozen bag from Iceland or similar. Definitly not worth the £24 they were charging for it.The time it took to get served was also bordering on the unacceptable. Nobody came to take out order so had to go and order from the bar. Breakfast buffet was ok though. Would not choose to stay at this property again unfortunately,

Great location and hotel. We were lucky enough to be upgraded which was appreciated. We paid extra for breakfast which was ok. Waiting a lot for some of the items but the food was tasty.

A very pleasant and comfortable hotel with very willing and helpful staff. The room was well appointed with coffee and tea facilities and the bathroom had lovely double shower. We liked the open breakfast room which doubled as a bar/restaurant later in the day. Breakfast was good value with a selection of cold and hot foods. I would have rated it 5 stars for value, staff and comfort but we had a couple of housekeeping issues.
