We had limited time at the hotel due to a late arrival following a wedding The positives were we were able to park the car there for the day, and store our bags securely in the hotel before attending the wedding Unfortunately when we got back to the hotel the night porter took some time to official check us in, and then took a further 10-15 mins to find the key for the storage cupboard for our bags. The room itself was small and basic. The bathroom even more so, leaving us fighting with the shower curtain.

When I arrived I had to pay an extra £36 for parking when it was advertised as free parking. Upon checking into my room I found no pillows and no bin. The bathroom had holes in the walls including a big one that had been badly filled. The plug sockets were unusable and the light switches, one of which was only two foot from the floor near the bathroom, were in very inconvenient places. The breakfast was cheap produce and was just about warm at best, and gold at worst. To top it all off there were two dead rats in the car park! All in all it was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in.

The hotel had only recently reopened as a mainstream hotel having been used by migrants for years. We were not made aware of this at time of booking and would not have stayed had we known. The hotel had apparently had a refurbishment but it wasn’t very noticeable. The carpets and chairs in the communal areas were filthy. The bar area was poor and the tables were sticky. The Room was a double, very basic, although the carpet had been changed the room was very dingy. The mirror above the vanity table was too high to see yourself in when sitting.down. The bathroom was basic but the bath plug area was dirty and rusted. The website said the toiletries were supplied. They were actually a plastic container attached to the shower and smelt terrible. The view from the window was a flat messy roof and the lights were bright spotlights. The fact that the areas were so poor meant that we did not go for breakfast as we couldn’t feel comfortable with the cleanliness. In our opinion the whole place should be closed, deep cleaned and a proper refurbishment should be completed. I also think that. We should have been told it was used for asylum seekers. We will return to Stratford but unfortunately not to the grosvenor hotel .

We booked the executive room, but it was more like a budget room. The room was very dated and shabby. The bathroom was big but looked grubby. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was really good, plenty to eat. It was central and the food festival was on which was good.
