Greeted by the lovely Zita! She showed us around & how to get in & out of our room. So handy to Eat Street & Sir Howard Morrison Entertainment Ctr, parking a breeze & free! Lovely wairua at this place, we will be back one day. Good price, no frills, clean & tidy.. it was perfect for us! Thank you M & M from Ruakaka Northland

This place was very well located and everyone was very nice. We didn't know that a "Citizens Club" is like a VFW in the US, so it was a funny surprise being the only under 55 at the bar/restaurant area. The free parking and wifi were solid. The room had every basic you'd need, I think the only thing was not having aircon was a little warmer in summer, but they did supply a fan which was nice.

The room they put is in was directly over the bar area downstairs. They failed to mention upon check in that they would be having a live band donlwnstairs playing until midnight. The stage was directly beneath our room so absolutely no sleep was had until after midnight.

I thought this was good value for the price. It's easy walking distance to Eat Street and other amenities in the center. Visitors have the option to use club facilities or not. The shower in the room was modern. I had trouble accessing the free WIFI, but not sure of the cause. Room had SKY TV which increased viewing options. We appreciated the free on-site parking. Good security was provided to the rooms.

I just love the convenience of when your hungry can walk down to the club restaurant and have a kai have a few drinks at the bar if you want. The location of in the middle of town. how clean, safe access in and out of the upstairs to our rooms. all the necessities you need for a night or two. This is our go to place when staying in Rotas

Real liked that everything was clean and tidy the staff went the xtra mile with everything that they could do for us would have liked a microwave in the room cos although we ate all our meals except for breakfast the doggy bags we ended up with after our meals and took up to our rooms were eaten cold for breakfast as there was no oven or microwave iwe feel that having a microwave in the rooms would not take away the use of the dining room meals as they are good value for money and serve the most excellent meals there and their variety of meals on their menus was huge and reasonably priced not too mention the service from the chef and his assistants which was absolutely brilliant will continue going to and staying there when we are in Rotorua best place,ever

It was extremely central to all shops, bars restaurants, the building seems very tired. We had a disabled double room which meant we had a wet room style shower - v good. Bedding-sheets very white and clean , but the quilt was full of stains and looked very old -did not use. The room very dated. Not sure how price compares to other accommodation so maybe it’s cheap to stay

The rooms are above a social club that caters for the older generation. The club had snooker tables, restaurant and a bar. The karaoke night was a blast. The club is located close the centre of town and the main attractions. The check in was down by Tina who appeared to look after the check in and run the bar. She was friendly and helpful. The room and shower room were not clean. Above head height there was dust and the shower room extractor vent was in need of a deep clean.

This accommodation is advertised as a 'club', however it is not like any club in Australia but more of a pub. How it managed to get an 8/10 rating I have no idea. The entry is located around the back, reception was unmanned, check-in was via pressing a button and waiting for bar staff to let you through locked doors that open onto pool table area with many men staring as you enter. The worst aspect was the smell and the carpet that you stick to. Fortunately I requested to view the room prior to check-in. It was not for me. I couldn't see myself putting up with the smell for four nights. The rooms are so dated that all the cleaning in the world wouldn't make a difference. Whilst searching on my phone for alternative accommodation I was abused by reception staff and 'told' that I had to stay or be financially penalised. So patronising to a potential guest (62 yr old woman). If you want cheap this is it.

Basic accommodation. Shower wasn't cleaned from previous stayers and overall was not as clean as I would expect. When room service came after the first night they left the room door wide open with all our belongings inside. We were out the whole day so not pleased when we got back to see that.

It's fine for a home base while you're exploring Rotorua. The fans in the rooms provide next to zero airflow and there's no AC, so your only option is to leave the windows open. Unfortunately, it's right next to the main road so you'll hear yelling, driving, etc right below your window. Also there's a street lamp right outside the room we had so it was either no air flow or light sounds bugs in the room and a slightly cooler room. It sounds worse than it is but for the price we were happy with it overall.

I found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a great location, very central to everything in Rotorua (restaurants, nationwide bus stop, etc). The furnishings are a bit dated which gives the interior a slightly tired feel but the facilities are clean and well cared for. The internet speed impressed me and I was able to work remotely, including uploading/downloading large files.

The room was ok for our purpose of somewhere to sleep although the price for it i believe is a little high. The room was very cold and it took a few hours to warm it up with the little heater that is available.

We only had one problem and that was the heat, there was no air conditioning. Two fans in a room of seven and one of the fans was broken and wouldn't stand on its own. Everyone had to sleep on top of the blankets.

It was unfortunate that the access to the accommodation on the Sunday evening on which we were arriving was to shut at 7:30pm- fortunately someone phoned us to advise of this! On the following Friday evening the music entertainment kept us awake until 11.15p.m. Apart from the above we were quite happy with the accommodation.

Terrible experience couldn’t even check in. Messaged our arrival time of 6pm. When arrived called the number on the door multiple times and had Expedia call. No one answered. Finally had to rent an Airbnb last minute. Still haven’t received my money back. No communication on check in or that the building is closed on Monday when I messaged about check in. Expedia is no help and despite also calling said they wouldn’t give me my money back. Didn’t see the inside but looked pretty crappy from the outside. If want to be stranded with no cell service in the rain trying to figure out a new place to stay can try on here. Otherwise would definitely avoid.

We checked in and were delighted with the welcome and the show around. We were told of all the things available with our room and where to park and shown the entry and swipe and keys explained. We went our for a walk around Rotorua and enjoyed the closeness of everything we needed. Autumn colours out and looking very pretty. Nice and clean where we walked. Headed back to our room and had a rest and decided to have an early shower. Alas no towels. Went to the office at 8.30 and no staff around so no towels. It was the only thing we could fault. We checked in and were delighted with the welcome and the show around. We were told of all the things available with our room and where to park and shown the entry and swipe and keys explained. We went our for a walk around Rotorua and enjoyed the closeness of everything we needed. Autumn colours out and looking very pretty. Nice and clean where we walked. Headed back to our room and had a rest and decided to have an early shower. Alas no towels. Went to the office at 8.30 and no staff around so no towels. It was the only thing we could fault. So my suggestion is check for towels before you head out. Thoroughly enjoyed our time in Rotorua and your club. Thank you

I found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a great location, very central to everything in Rotorua (restaurants, nationwide bus stop, etc). The furnishings are a bit dated which gives the interior a slightly tired feel but the facilities are clean and well cared for. The internet speed impressed me and I was able to work remotely, including uploading/downloading large files.

This place was very well located and everyone was very nice. We didn't know that a "Citizens Club" is like a VFW in the US, so it was a funny surprise being the only under 55 at the bar/restaurant area. The free parking and wifi were solid. The room had every basic you'd need, I think the only thing was not having aircon was a little warmer in summer, but they did supply a fan which was nice.

The hotel was close to the lakeside where we were to attend the outdoor concert the day we'd booked for an overnight stay so it was very handy and very affordable...the room was very warm and inviting the beds were comfortable and the shower was bliss to hop under after spending a night out in the cold.

Real liked that everything was clean and tidy the staff went the xtra mile with everything that they could do for us would have liked a microwave in the room cos although we ate all our meals except for breakfast the doggy bags we ended up with after our meals and took up to our rooms were eaten cold for breakfast as there was no oven or microwave iwe feel that having a microwave in the rooms would not take away the use of the dining room meals as they are good value for money and serve the most excellent meals there and their variety of meals on their menus was huge and reasonably priced not too mention the service from the chef and his assistants which was absolutely brilliant will continue going to and staying there when we are in Rotorua best place,ever

Its uniqueness to us was it is just 5 minutes away from The start line of the Rotorua Marathon. Our meal on the evening was fantastic. My steak. Compliments to the chef was perfect. 10 out of 10. As was my daught n laws lamb shank. Her favourite just fell off the bone. Great service. Lovely comfortable room. All in all a fabulous place to stay. Definetly recomend to our friends. Cheers. I just love the convenience of when your hungry can walk down to the club restaurant and have a kai have a few drinks at the bar if you want. The location of in the middle of town. how clean, safe access in and out of the upstairs to our rooms. all the necessities you need for a night or two. This is our go to place when staying in Rotas
