Hampton Inn & Suites Portsmouth Downtown

Great property. Staff was very welcoming. The only downfall was that they only had Tesla car chargers with no adaptors available.

The perfect family hotel. Nice clean rooms, pool for the kiddos, reasonable gym and good breakfast. Also located in a great part of Portsmouth. We spent two great nights there and plan to make this an annual family tradition.

The room was very clean and spacious. A disappointment was that the bar was closed. We chose the hotel, because they had a bar. We were notified about the closed bar via email on the day of check in. Our reservation was non refundable. That is not fair. Another disappointment was the TERRIBLE breakfast. The eggs must have been powdered. That and all other supposed hot items were cold or lukewarm at best. Orange juice dispensed clear like water. Ugh. Valet parking at $45 per was not shown in Hotel.com. It only said parking available.

On street parking is metered and limited to 2 hours. Hotel parking by valet only and is $38 per day..very expensive!!

Very average accommodations if not subpar. No restaurant or bar, no room service. Pool was maybe 20'x8' extremely small, no hot tub. Continental breakfast was a joke. Valet parking $40/night is outrageous. Construction noise was a huge problem, luckily they switched our room to the opposite side of the hotel or it would have been a terrible stay. For the price paid this is a very poor choice.

Check- in was easy however the parking situation was confusing. I selected this hotel because it said they had charging stations in their garage. When I arrived the valet parking sign said the lot was full. Then a valet attendant said it wasn’t full for the those staying at the hotel however there are no charging stations and I had to go to a garage around the corner. It wasn’t that far however the reason I selected this hotel was the charging capacity.

We chose this location for the pool for our kids for spring break. Unfortunately when we arrived there was a sign that said the heater was not working and could use pool across street at residence inn. We attempted that, but they were doing constructing and the place was a mess. It would have been nice to know ahead of time the pool was not usable at the Hampton Inn. When we asked for a manager to call us no one did. Breakfast was not great- had much better at other HI’s. Overall a great location. They charge $40/night for valet as there is no parking on site. We found the Laundry garage a block away that is $20/day max.

Breakfast was very good. Room was clean and quiet. The pool is not a swimming pool! They should be clear about that!

This is in a great location and is walkable as retail and restaurants nearby. The staff is respectful and friendly. There is valet parking the cost is $40 a night and your vehicle is located at the back of the building with you having access whenever- The initial valet related we can park until 4pm after checkout but it turns out it is only until 2pm. The common areas are fine and the location is secure as you have card key access The downside is the rooms are not clean as the first room had a significant stain on the mattress pad. The staff brought a new mattress pad and asked if we wanted to change it or him? We then opted to be relocated as clearly this was not acceptable. We were relocated which staff assured would meet our expectations- Well it did not but after a 2 hour ride and dinner it was close to 8:45 thus we went to sleep. This room had not been properly cleaned as dust was on the furniture, urine stains on the bathroom floor adjacent to the toilet and hair in the shower from someone shaving ( yes it was not good) Upon checking out we mentioned the issue to the clerk in a polite and respectful manner and he stated the parking had been deducted from our bill. This was nice however it was clear that the clerk from the evening had deducted the parking upon moving us however nothing had been done to accommodate the issue with the room we relocated to- My hope remains that the staff and management will improve on there standards specific to cleanliness as clearly this

The hotel is in a prime downtown location. However, our room clean (I.e. hair in the shower, crumbs in the pullout couch and Cheerios on the carpet under the bed). Staff was amazingly wonderful and kind.

Biggest negatives - sticky floors and slightly low water pressure. Overall great place to stay, but slightly higher cleanliness standards would be great.

This hotel is centrally located in downtown Portsmouth. We handed our car keys to the valet before we checked in, and didn't need them again until we checked out. The staff is unfailingly helpful and the entire property is immaculate. We would definitely stay here again.

I had a great stay. It was the first time I had a room to myself! It was clean. Loved seeing my name on the tv screen. Staff was nice.

Very clean, modern rooms with fairly comfortable beds. The shower was a bit slippery but it was fine.

The hotel was beautiful! Staff was accommodating and incredibly nice! Perfect location for walking around the city. Nice coffee shop next door. Only downside was the bathroom was dirty. Hair on the floor and bathtub dirty.

Check in is 4pm. We arrived at 4:20 and were told room was not ready. Very disappointing but the service agent realized it was an error pretty quickly and we were soon able to check in. Poor first impression. The room seemed clean but in the morning we found the conditioner bottle empty and mold on the shower fixtures. The breakfast buffet was pretty gross. A few terrible muffins, a big bowl of apples in late July, and 3 hot trays that were not very good: "egg patties," sausage patties, and deep fried french toast sticks. There was a decent cereal selection, at least. Valet parking was expensive and we were told to call 15 minutes before the car was needed. I called 20 minutes ahead, and when I went down to the lobby, the valet was sitting at his desk and inexplicably hadn't gotten my car. None of these were huge problems, except the bill was over $450 for one night. If you are going to charge that much money, I expect better service, food, and amenities.

Very noisy!

Pros: HOT water, spacious bathroom and shower, clean, close to numerous restaurants, bar, etc. Valet parking is great for that area. Breakfast buffet! All staff were very nice. Light blocking shades were awesome. Cons: The mattress was pretty uncomfortable. Due to room location and building layout, the view from my window was into another room across the way. Typical poor water pressure in shower.

Our corner room was gorgeous. Seems to be recently completely renovated. Comfy bed. Huge bathroom. Loved the three windows. However the windows need replacing. They are cloudy and you can’t really see well out of them Loved our stay. Walking distance to everything !

The really disappointing feature is that the shower water was not at all strong. I was looking forward to a nice shower. The place has been renovated, but the rooms look like a luxury jail cell. I hope they didn’t pay the designers very much to do that. Otherwise the clientele was good. Oh, one thing the snacks are way overpriced.

The room was lovely, clean, spacious, well lit with several windows and stocked with paper suplies. The matress was exceptionally comfortable. From the parking valet, to front dask staff to the breakfast staff were all friendly and helpful. The gift wrapping materials a nice touch

Beautiful, large room with a comfortable bed and big tv. Loved the breakfast and easy walking distance to everything.

My family visits often and I've secured many rooms over the years at multiple hotels in town and this hotel by far has the best service, amazing customer service that's consistent on every visit.

I had a group of people in the next room which was confirmed by security for making excessive noise. The front desk manager Tiffany was rude and didn't acknowledge our compliant other to say if we had valet parking we could credit or we could be moved. Which I course replied that I'm not moving and to address the people of issue. We were not given professional service and stated because we're angry that we could possibly be removed from the hotel. I'm a professional and long time customer of Expedia and would like this addressed.

Stayed here with our daughters in another room. Room was not cleaned for their while 4 day start !

Went to check in and they said our king room was not clean yet but there were queen rooms free. I said no and that we would wait. They said they would text us when the room was ready. Never got a text. After going out with friends and getting dinner we checked in, got the keys, walked into a double queen room. I called the front desk and said why do we not have a king and they said “they were all out.” So paying for a king and getting two queen beds with no compensation for our trip is totally unacceptable. Nevermind the lack of communication at the front desk .

Only complaint is the staff at front desk. While waiting 45 mins for our room to be ready, they didn’t let us know about the available water and coffee in the lobby. I just happen to walk by it as we headed to elevator when room available. I knew ahead of time there was a free breakfast each morning but wasn’t informed of that either. Great accommodations; clean and convenient location.

My wife and I headed to Portsmouth NH for a last minute getaway. Met by a very friendly and professional receptionist. Our room wasn't ready so he upgraded us to a suite. We headed out for the day. The valet was very helpful with recommendations. The next morning breakfast was adequate and we headed home. Very nice stay.

Nice hotel right in downtown Portsmouth. Everything is walkable.

Amazing staff. Very clean. Valet parking is almost mandatory (no free hotel parking lot) and extremely expensive, but it wasn't a deal breaker for us. Continental breakfast was hit or miss. Some days lots of choices, but other days practically empty even early on. BUT other than that, very nice place to stay for a few days.

I thought that the parking fee was expensive. Lack of a bar was disappointing.

This property was a great location for walking to all of the great shops and restaurants in town. The hotel seemed relatively new and up-to-date and the breakfast that was included was one of the best that I've had. Highly recommend this hotel.
