Hotel on North

We have friends who live in the area and we visit a few times a year. We took a last-minute trip this past weekend and I found this hidden gem of a hotel. It is absolutely GORGEOUS inside. High ceilings, a library and reading/game lounge, and some beautiful art that adorns the walls. The front desk staff is so friendly, it was clean and inviting, and our room was AMAZING. The high ceilings grace the guest rooms as well as the lobby. There is a little coffee/tea bar, and something I've never seen before- a mini "library" above the coffee bar. There were some great book choices there, and also a comfy reading nook in the one corner. The room was airy and bright, with the windows reaching up to the ceiling. The bathroom was spacious and clean, and there is shampoo/conditioner/body wash pumps in the shower, as well as a seat at one end to sit, place your items or shave. One thing I will NOT complain about but others might, is the creaky floors. They are real wood and it is an old building, but it gives it so much character! There is no breakfast, but there is coffee and tea available 24/7, and there are plenty of spots within walking distance to get some food. The hotel had an attached small restaurant/pub which we did not get a chance to go to. The room rate is appropriate for what you'd expect at a place like this! As long as a room is available, we will be staying here every time we visit the area. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Absolutely loved every part of my stay at Hotel North. Parking was so easy and safe. The Hotel is decorated so tastefully, the staff was so welcoming. When I stepped into my room, I felt I had walked into a soothing refuge. Your decorators knew just how to balance the aesthetics with furnishings, art work, etc. Every detail was perfect - the room temperature, the comfortable bed, the quietness, etc. I will definitely recommend the Hotel North to anyone traveling to the Pittsfield area. Good job everyone!

This place is a gem. Such a lovely unique hotel. Parking in the back is super convenient and the staff was great. Our king room was huge!

Absolutely perfect place! Love that it seemed like a little apartment unit and felt safe. The bar and restaurant downstairs is so convenient too and close to everything! Parking was very easy as well, will definitely stay again

Really nice place. Secure parking and you can use the YMCA gym directly across the street for free which was perfect. Highly recommend.

Really well kept for the age of the hotel. Nice clean rooms. Big too. I like the common area outside the rooms. Groups would enjoys the books and board games they have.

This hotel has a lot more character than chain places on the highway, and parking was easy in the lot behind the hotel. Staff was friendly and efficient, the rooms were large and well-decorated, and the restaurant on the ground floor was top-notch.

The Library Suite was interesting and beautiful, and unlike any other hotel room we've stayed in. The staff were extremely helpful; we were looking for dining options on a holiday and David called several places to see who was open and provided us with some recommendations. The parking lot in the back is very convenient. Wish the hotel restaurant had been open while we were there but there are dining options nearby. Dottie's down the street has great breakfast. The all-day free coffee/tea/hot chocolate was a big hit with the whole family.

Close to everything, walking distance. Safe parking. Lovely room. Very sweet staff!

Our stay was several months ago so hopefully things have changed. We were given a room with sheets that were used and were grossalthough the bedspreads were in place - the room was not ready for guests so we had to change rooms after unpacking … while the transport carts are charming they are VERY DIFFICULT to maneuver.

Very friendly and accommodating staff (especially Andrew). Very clean and spacious room. We had a junior suite. In room coffee was excellent. Older building with hardwood floors. If not on top floor you are likely to hear people walking in the room above. My only complaint. Also while not part of the hotel, the adjacent restaurant offers fine cuisine in a chic Setting. Access directly from a hotel sitting room.

This is an incredible hotel: one of the absolute BEST hotels I have booked in years. It is very unique, only about 20 minutes from Tangelwood, and it gorgeous. I booked a premium room and it was HUGE: very large room w high ceilings, massive bathroom, very clean. I will definitely return to this hotel with every tangelwood booking.

It is a great hotel that we always want to return to. The only setback is that the outside noise is not blocked as well as I would’ve hoped. From the sound of it, Pittsfield must be filled with bikers and street racers?

Our room was lovely and spacious. I loved the aesthetic of the entire hotel.

Very large room with a huge desk and two arm chairs. The bathroom was nice with a large walk-in shower and a rain shower head. My room faced North street, so I noticed the noise from the road, but most wouldn’t notice. Very pleased

The hotel was immaculate, well-appointed, smart, super comfortable, spacious. No gross w2w carpeting. The staff went out of their way and were always on hand. And they welcomed our pup providing bowls and dog bed.

The building is a charming old hotel that has been restored. The spacious rooms have high ceilings.

Staff was very nice, plenty of walkable options for food, free and easy parking. Only complaint is that wooden floors are very creaky and noisy.

The hotel is beautiful. Great look with old world charm but updated amenities. They refurbished the antique floors but they are very noisy and you can hear other guests walking around in other rooms. The biggest issue for me was the road noise. We had a room on the 3rd floor but the road noise was excessive . I’d recommend asking for a room in the back of the hotel unless they are able to soundproof the windows better.

Amazing! From the decor, to the staff, to the attention to detail. I became quite friendly with the front desk staff as I stayed for 6 days (was hiking in the Berkshires in early November). The bed, pillows, and chairs were all super comfortable, shower pressure was great, and the service was out of this world. Thank you to everyone!

This was my second stay there Amazing front desk people--Jamie and Andrew the first time I went. Yesterday was Andrew and met Cameron. They are all so friendly and didn't mind chatting with me. The hotel is beautiful, clean, rooms great. Dining room met Roberto and Ashley-- again very friendly. Food amazing!! See you again in a couple of weeks. I'm from upstate NY and my mother recently was moved to a nursing home in Pittsfield. So happy I found your hotel to stay at when I go to visit her⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This property was a gorgeous old time Hotel with beautiful fixtures and fittings. Room was large and had all the amenities. Tea/coffee/water. The restaurant attached which wasn’t part of the hotel was excellent. We enjoyed a lovely meal there and they also offer a brunch at the weekends. My only criticism (nothing to do with hotel) was the surrounding area. An extremely run down, poor town. Nothing to do and barely any other eating places. Luckily we were only 15 min drive from other areas.

This hotel is renovated and clean but I was deceived by the photos especially the outside of the building. This is in a very bad part of town and its unsafe to even walk outside especially at night. We were very disappointed in this property. $400 a night...go stay in Lenox which is a very nice location.

Local area was just ok. There was a lot of construction, as there is in most cities. The hotel itself was quiet.

Quite and good location to around towns

Gorgeous, stylish hotel. Very quiet room. Convenient to many things in Berkshires (easy drives to Tanglewood and the Clark.) I would stay again.

Excellent stay at Hotel on North. The rooms are spacious and clean, with eclectic furnishings. The bathroom was great - excellent shower pressure, though a second sink would have been appreciated. I could hear some muffled noises from other rooms, but not enough to keep me up. The beds and pillows were comfortable and well appointed with lots of blankets. The staff was very helpful and even got us a roll-away bed the 2nd night for a slight up fee. All of the art in the hotel was amazing. I would definitely stay here again. The restaurant attached to the hotel is just meh - but there are some good local places nearby especially for breakfast. The hotel is very centrally located and within walking distance of cafes, shops, and the Berkshire Museum. Pittsfield feels like a city in transition - lots of arts and culture, but also suffering some depression. I didn't feel comfortable walking along at night, but was fine during the day.

The Hotel is lovely, clean, and has a minimal but thoughtful aesthetic. The bathroom and bedroom are huge, and the restaurant connected to the hotel is charming. The only drawback is the location. The town center is dilapidated and rundown, with many closed storefronts. I hope the town of Pittsfield can elevate its downtown area to match the vibe of this charming hotel.

Great hotel-close to Barrington Stage-perfect location to go to the theater!

If this still shows up as 3.5 stars, that really underrates it. It’s a lovely boutique hotel in a very recently converted old department store, full of thoughtful touches, good art, great furniture, and lovely staff. Our room was huge and gorgeous, from claw-foot tub to bed. There are various quirks of the old building—you hear the wood floors creak a little—but everything feels like it was renovated yesterday. The only weak spot at all is the restaurant, which is sort of bumbling and slow, closes much too early for dinner (kitchen closes at 8 weeknights), and doesn’t serve breakfast. But there are a few other good options nearby, and it seems very fixable with some fresh management and a little investment in staff.

Beautiful hotel , restaurant adjacent is amazing

This is a unique hotel created out of historic buildings in downtown Pittsfield. Room furnishings and hotel lobbies and hallways continue a theme of "retro" style and artifacts -- a great concept for an older city like Pittsfield. We enjoyed our stay as it was the "right place at the right time" for us - with two caveats for travelers: 1) the restaurant in the same building does not currently serve breakfast (a fact which is apparent if you look at the restaurant's website, not the hotel's site). There are three local breakfast spots within walking distance. 2) The floors in the hotel rooms and hallways are wood and many areas are not carpeted. (Historic character, etc.) This can produce rather loud sounds from neighboring rooms if other guests are wearing clogs or high heels. To do any close neighbors a favor, I suggest all guests take such footwear off -- or that the hotel might consider supplying comfy soft slippers to all guests!

It has a lovely lobby-- cool vibe-- yet VERY disappointing to discover no bar/lounge as advertised on their own site, Expedia, and other sites. The area is not great-- and a bar/restaurant on the property as advertised was the reason I chose the hotel. The room was just ok-- a shame for it is a lovely building with great potential.

This hotel and staff are simply the best⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ And the restauant Rare 297 is 5 star as well!!! Owner, staff and food are wonderful👏👏👏👏
