County Clare Irish Hotel & Pub

Our room was so cute and spacious, with a beautiful bathroom. We really enjoyed the unique inn feeling and the staff were all excellent. We enjoyed the pub for dinner and the breakfast in the morning. My only real complaint was the bed frame at the end of the bed. Despite some foam for the top corners, it is still very easy to smash your leg into. And the parking was very small/tight, and limited, though they allow you to double park and leave your keys, so that staff can switch cars around.

Very friendly! Nice bar atmosphere. Great that they have their own free parking lot for paying guests.

Great place to stay. Friendly staff, on-site parking, and attached pub were the top benefits. Food and drink at the pub were amazing. Neighborhood was very walkable and we walked to several other great food/drink locations in Milwaukee.

About a 40 min walk to the AFI Amphitheatre which was my reason for being in MKE. There's also a Hop stop very close which is a free shuttle service. Price, free parking lot and location were excellent. Breakfast included which offers made to order omelets. It's old, quaint, clean, safe with on-site restaurant and bar. I would stay again. I didn't like sharing a wall with what I assume is the office/break room for staff. But I guess that's better than being sandwiched between 2 occupied rooms. I was scared awake by the shower being turned on in the room next to me. Speaking of showers...

Quaint, unique property. Clean, bright room. Elevator was broken first night but fixed by morning. Enjoyed drinks and dinner at pub. Omelets and pumpkin bread at breakfast were excellent. Plan to stay again when visiting Milwaukee.

Great location that was within walking distance to Fiserv, Deer District and Marcus theater. If need something close to MSOE campus this is the one! Room was spotless and had a very large jetted tub that gave me a Bed and Breakfast vibe. The Parking for the weekend we chose was very tight. The hotel was full and we got the last stall available and our nose of the GMC Sierra was sticking out quite far. Thankfully no incident. Street parking was full as well.

Property was quiet and safe. Breakfast made to order omelets were outstanding. Parking was an obstacle especially if you have a truck or large vehicle. Spaces should be assigned to each room when booking thus guaranteeing your space upon return from daily outings. Suggest getting an ice machine for guests.

Great value. Parking provided. On premise pub served Irish food and drink. Everyone was very friendly. Very walkable area of city. Convenient location for us. Room and premises clean. Room quaint with Hot tub. Would stay here again without question.

This is a lovely little property in a quiet neighborhood close to the lake and just a few blocks from downtown. The attached pub is cozy and delightful and serves free breakfast each morning, including made-to-order omelets. It's also a great place to come back and have a bite to eat at the end of the day. The hotel has its own parking lot, so parking is never a problem despite being in a downtown neighborhood. And if you don't have a car, there's a bus stop right on the corner and a trolley line a block up the street. This is the place to stay if you like art museums because there are several small galleries within 2 blocks and the excellent Milwaukee Art Museum is a few blocks further away. One big thing to be aware of is that the front desk is not staffed at night so it's not possible to do late check-ins. The only real complaint we had during out 2-night stay was that the elevator was being repaired, but the staff were happy to carry our luggage to the second floor and even gave us drink coupons for the pub. Highly recommended.

This is a charming if slightly shabby place. Our room was very nice, although there were holes in the blanket and towels. The pub/restaurant was great. Breakfast would benefit from a few more cereal options.

Quaint and comfortable, however there is definitely room for improvement. The sink in our room was cracked and chipped, the paint in the tub/restroom area was chipped and stuck to the floor. There was a wide gap at the bottom of the door that let light, noise, and smells into the room. Parking is VERY limited and while the staff did advise to double park and leave (your) keys at the desk, we weren’t comfortable with that and thankfully did not need to utilize that process. The mattress definitely needs replaced soon. It was bowed in the middle. Also, there was no phone in the room at all. While many have cell phones, in case of emergency, a phone being available would be a good idea (or even to call the front desk if needed). Possibly trivial, however one small tube of shampoo/condition/body wash are not nearly enough when two people are using the room for two days - not even enough for two people for one day. The breakfast was nice, and appreciated. We dined at the restaurant and the service was immaculate, and the food was delicious.

Great location, this was our forth time to stay at the County Clare. I had mentioned before there are so many good things that you overlook the ware and gently used environment that is present in the rooms. This time though, the shower curtain had mold along the bottom edge, bedding had stains and the pillows had seen way to many heads to have any life left in them. When you offer free off street parking and included hot breakfast, you have to cut corners somewhere, but one bar of soap for the lav that you have to carry to the shower is a little much.

The staff was great! Helpful and friendly. We loved the bar and its entertainment. The group that met in the corner, playing various instruments was such a treat! The entire property was very clean. There are a few things that need updated, replaced. For example, our vanity sink was cracked and stained. I do see that new windows will be installed soon. That will help greatly. Overall, and especially for the price, it was a great value and stay.

Was very impressed with this little gem. Room was very nice and comfy, quiet and in a good location. Very clean. It has a very quaint Irish restaurant with great food, good pricing. Complementary breakfast (made to order omelet) was delicious. Staff was friendly and helpful. Close to many venues. This will be my go to place when visiting Milwaukee.

It was an ok experience. Price, cleanliness, parking were all good. Staff was ok. 2nd morning the guy serving breakfast was a bit of blunt aggressive personality. Not unfriendly but... Biggest complaint was maintenance. Shower was clean but felt like we were going to fall through the floor. Something obviously out of whack under it. And the biggest pain an AC unit that rattled horrible everytime it kicked on. Took a towel and pamphlet and shoved it in the unit to try and stop the rattle. Room 210... fix it!

County Clare is pretty, it's quaint, it feels like a family run business in all the best ways. The people are friendly, the spaces are clean, the restaurant/bar is excellent. But please be warned, the walls are thin and the rooms feel antiquated - I wouldn't want to spend multiple nights there in a row because of loss of sleep. As a one night getaway with a fantastic restaurant/bar downstairs, an incredibly convenient parking lot, and some of the nicest staff you'll find, you won't do much better. Highest recommendation for a short stay.

Friendly and helpful staff..Wonderful bar and breakfast right downstairs…comfortable bed and room…only issue was a poor tv/remote, but not that big a deal for me.

If you want the experience of a quaint inn, this is for you. The rooms are large with nice chairs, a quilt on the bed. There is a big jetted tub, and nice shower. It’s connected to one of the best Irish restaurants. In the morning they have breakfast for the guests of chef prepared omelettes, breads, yogurt, and cereals.

Rooms are nice and access to pub is great and noise not an issue. Front desk staffing is spotty, you often need to wiat a bit. No USB ports so bring a plug in. You'll need to unplug something else. Area feels safe and we walked around but there is a car warning.

Ran out of hot water in shower w/low water pressure. Towels were “scratchy”. Bed was not a queen size (what we had reserved) & was so uncomfortable that we left at 6 am.

County Clare covers the Three C's: Clean Comfortable Cozy But also: Comes with breakfast Coffee and a jaCuzzi* * OK not really a C-word I would not hesitate to stay here again. In fact, I don't think I would choose anywhere else to stay in Milwaukee. The location is perfect. The rooms are great. The place was remarkably quiet (although you will hear doors opening and closing). The breakfast was delicious. I loved the old world charm, price, the pub on the main level and the larger than expected rooms. My only suggestion would be adding a small fridge to the room.

Staff was grumpy. The amenities had to be asked for, no room service.

All good, just a little annoyed that there’s nobody to help you with check-in if you arrive later than 7pm. TV in my room was not working and there was nobody to help me out. Room is big, bed is comfortable, breakfast included.

Rooms were quaint and clean. I was like staying at an Irish Country inn. Staff was super friendly. Patrick the bar manager was great. The continital breakfast with made to omelets was also wonderful. Will stay here again!

From check in to check out the staff was friendly, efficient and helpful. The ambiance was perfect for our one night after a long day of driving.

This hotel is unique and is a different option. Most hotels are the same routine thing. This place is memorable. The front desk receptionist was awesome. Angie answered all of our questions and even helped us get ice and warmed up my two little leftover ribs. Angie is awesome! The restaurant served the best Guinness Pot Roast I have ever had!! Loved this place!

Hey we’re very attentive at check-in and check-out. Explained everything in detail. Cozy bed and nice bath/shower options. Very friendly staff in the Bar/Restuarant. Great place for the money, exceptional value.

The fact that the front desk is not staffed 24/7 could be an issue, we had noisy arguing neighbors all night. Otherwise we loved everything about it.

We contacted them at 7PM to let them know that our 14 hour drive was taking a LOT longer and that we didn't know what they late check-in policy was. Got their voicemail and left a VERY detailed message mentioning to please contact us ASAP via email or phone. We didn't hear back. Called back at 9PM and left ANOTHER *VERY* detailed voicemail pleading with them to please contact us back and let us know what they could do for us since we already paid and we had no other arrangements after driving all day. No attempt to contact us was made. Called back at 10PM and left yet ANOTHER detailed voicemail pleading with them to contact us. Arrived at 1:30AM to find out that we were completely locked out and that they have no late arrival policy. Basically you forfeit the room if you arrive late. This is perfectly fine but for the love of god, CALL YOUR CUSTOMER BACK and let them know! You completely and utterly disrespected us by completely ignoring our pleads for information. This is COMPLETELY something that should NEVER happen. Even if you had called us and said "Sorry but you have forfeited your $200 and we can't help you" then at least I could have made alternative arrangements so that we could rest our heads for the night. As it turns out we had to take a booking somewhere else and instead of 6 hours of sleep we got 4.5 hours of sleep before we drove 12 hours home today to Ontario. I will NEVER recommend your business to anyone.

Truly amazing staff, kind both on the hotel side and pub side. I am thinking of planning my next stay at Milwaukee already, with County Clare as my base of operations.

I had a pleasant stay at the County Clare. My room was very clean. The hot tub was great for my back, since I fell off a ladder 30 years ago. The hotel's location was perfect. It was within walking distance to the Pabst Theater, and I attended a concert there.

Unique, quiet place only a block from the free tram. I'll be back!

We have stayed many times at the County Calire. It's the perfect location and cost! The rooms have always been exceptionally clean and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We have walked to the Fiserv and to The Summerfest grounds from this location. You can't ask for a better location when in town to see a show!

Our experience was definitely sub-par. This hotel seems to want to coast on its kitchsy "Irish" so-called charm, while neglecting many of the basics we Americans take for granted, for instance, a working TV. Also the complimentary breakfast was terrible, with the exception of the omelets made to order, which were very good.

From the Guinness on tap, the good food, the charming room, the live Irish music to the free breakfast, this place is a gem! We try to make this a habit.

Very pleasant hotel in a good area. Dinner was ok but service from Ellie was excellent. Breakfast was a bit disappointing and late.
