I stayed at the Hyatt Regency Birmingham for one night and found it to be a bit of a mixed experience. On the positive side, the location is excellent. It is right in the centre, very easy to access, and ideal for getting around Birmingham. The reception staff were friendly and welcoming, and the overall service felt professional. The room itself was large and spacious, with a comfortable bed, a good television setup, and a sizeable bathroom. Breakfast was also a highlight, with a good selection and quality that matched expectations for a hotel of this standard. However, the building itself does feel somewhat dated. The main issue for me was the air conditioning. The windows do not open, so you are entirely reliant on the system, which, while effective at cooling, was quite noisy. It cycled on and off throughout the night, meaning it was either running loudly or switching back on just as the room temperature changed, which repeatedly disturbed my sleep. It does not feel like a particularly modern or well-calibrated system, and it impacted what should have been a restful night. Overall, while the hotel has many of the qualities you would expect from a four-star property, I would say it delivers more when you are awake than when you are trying to sleep. For the price, there are likely more modern alternatives in similarly central locations that offer a more consistent and comfortable night’s stay.
