TownePlace Suites by Marriott Hattiesburg

Property is in so-so condition.Elevators and some halls had bad smells. One elevator broke down-

I stay with towneplace quite often, but in different areas. This one needs a face lift. The drain in the shower was broken, the desk was broken, no comforter for the pull out bed, stains on the sheets, bathroom door wouldn’t stay closed, night stand drawers wouldn’t stay closed, the fridge had rust on it. There’s a laundry list of items this place needs to update. Great staff, shabby place. I was not impressed.

The property is in decent shape. Carpet on the 3rd floor was shredded and needs replaced. The elevator (one was out of order) smelled horrible making it uncomfortable to be in. Breakfast was outstanding, the room while not exactly clean (sheets have obviously not been washed lately as evidenced by hair and other debris on and in the sheets. Parking and checking in is bad. I literally had to park behind the hotel and drag all of our items around the building because there is no pull through or awning. The staff was friendly and helpful.

We had a King suite that was so small that we couldn’t open two suitcases at once. The property is dated. The refrigerator in our room was rusty. On the bright side all staff were gracious, helpful and friendly.

Staff was fabulous! Room was beautiful and clean. Very nice. Did not have time to use pool but it looked nice.

The hotel is in need of a lot of maintenance and repairs our room was ok but the end table next to the bed the molded drawer was broken and just hanging on the toilet need work it takes 10 minutes to refill between flushes not good the umbrellas at the pool have seen better days. The elevator smells weird and needs cleaning the floors had dropping of food and sticky floors.

Wouldn't let my Dad check in for me. Our room smelled like smoke. Parking is not convenient to front entrance.

This was easily the WORST hotel/suite I've stayed at in a long time, and I've stayed at several TownePlace Suites in various locations across country because of their usual good quality. Not this one! The condition of the hotel is AWFUL, and is in bad need of maintenance and repairs, including damage to walls throughout the hotel, elevators, room doors, etc. Upon check-in/room assignment, I was in need of a luggage cart as I had a large amount of luggage. There were none available (out of 2), and the clerk had no idea where they were or how long they had been goen, so I asked for a ground floor room (none available). After lugging my stuff in multiple trips upstairs which took forever (1 elevator broken), I settled in and realized that the heater was not working; also noticed that the door bolt didn't work. I notified clerk and was reassigned a room two doors down. Heater worked but dead bolt didn't work there either! I settled in, after moving luggage; then started hearing loud commotion from out in hall. Went out to hall and heard banging/scratching and animal whimpering next door! IT went on for over a half hour, and I called clerk who said she was trying to track down the guest but wasn't having any luck. Noise eventually stopped but the next morning I noticed that there was all kinds of debris at the foot of the door. The dog really tore it up! This place had high reviews on hotels.com but I have no idea why! Don't stay here!!!

This place was a great value for the money. I was impressed with the cleanliness and the space in our room, the breakfast, and the amenities. The pool was nice and we enjoyed our visit.

These has been our go to hotel for years now and it never disappoints the staff it always kind and the breakfast is wonderful. I love that for my family of 5 my two teens have different beds and my husband and I have our own room with room for our toddler as well. The location is great and right down to road from all the restaurants and shopping. If You’ve got a family this is the place and the price is unbeatable. Also the pool is great

When we first walked into our room it smelled nice and was clean. My husband noticed a cabinet without a knob which left some sharp metal exposed and the GM came and saw it and was kind enough to give us another room. The second room is where we had issues and we wish we could of had our old room back. It wasn’t as clean..there were makeup stains on the pillow cases (which showed us they wernt changed), when I went to the bathroom I noticed a small black hair on the toilet lid, and the floor was dirty. There was also a yellow stain on the carpet floor. We had our 1 year old twins with us and it just honestly felt gross. I wish they would of made sure the room was cleaned before we were switched. It was supposed to be a nice stay away from home and we were disappointed. The staff were nice and friendly though.

Room was filthy, found old socks and food on the floor. Toilet paper was like sandpaper, bath tub didn’t drain so showered in ankle deep water, kitchen sink was full of old smelly food and disposal didn’t help get rid of it. Staff was nice that’s about all. This hotel is not worthy of having the Marriott name.

The check in and check out staff was very sweet and courteous. The breakfast was definitely above what I typically see at a free breakfast hotel. The options were great and the gentleman working there was on top of things and very nice. Unfortunately, our room, especially the bathroom, smelled HORRIBLE from cigarette smoke…obviously, someone who stayed there before us broke the rules. I notified the staff at checkout and they were apologetic. The room was clean, but rundown…handle on bathroom cabinet hanging off, old carpeting, cracked tile in shower. However, it was clean and sufficient for one night’s stay. The elevator smelled awful…my husband said it was synthetic grease, but it smelled like something rotten. It was overall okay, but not worth the nearly $200 a night.

We stayed here for the second time, and it was just as great as the first! Super clean and friendly staff!

My last time staying at this hotel. The rooms are always too warm because the air doesn't go below whatever the hotel has it set to, even though the thermostat will let you change it. The TV in my room didn't work (was stuck on "no signal") front desk clerk was no help. I should've switched rooms but i had already got settled in before i tried to turn on TV.

Terrible wifi. Hotel is rundown but the bed is soft

The noise inside the hotel made it difficult to sleep. Constant foot traffic, doors slamming and an uncomfortable bed were a bad mix.

We stayed in 2 bedroom Suite and the rooms temperature was hotter than the rest of the unit

Overall nice, the bathroom needs some tending too. The toilet ran a lot after flushing. The shower had some cracks. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was just okay nothing special and it was very crowded.

This is a nice hotel. Its a little older but well kept. The breakfast was standard continental, clean but basic. The rooms are spacious. Super soft bed. Staff really kept this review above bar. Good location to whats around.

Rough road conditions on service side roads and issue with poor water pressure

Poor WIFI, TV Remote non-rersponsive

Great stay. Quiet and clean. Two very minor complaints - 1. The TV was very small for the size of the room. I do not exaggerate when I say the TV was slightly larger than a computer monitor. TV was in good working order, just very small. And, 2. There was a tear in the carpet leading into the restroom area. Tripped over it a couple of times.

The visit was smooth and service was amazing. You can’t get much better than this! Both Tanya and Sandra made me feel so welcomed and provided the absolute best service! Thank you for making my stay so great!

The hotel cancelled my reservation without notice and claimed they were overbooked. They failed to notify or contact me before my travel date. I was forced to spend money at a different venue for an inferior room at lesser establishment.

The property was great-the only problem was that it said it was pet friendly. No where on the sight did it say it had a pet fee or what it was. We were all booked in and then it was oh by the way it is $100 for your pet. I don’t mind paying a pet fee but this was twice what any other place has charged. We would not have chosen it had we known ahead of time.

I checked in on the wrong date at Towneplace Suites. They told me I could still check in they would just need the payment from Hotels.com. I had paid online so I didn’t want to pay twice. I was on the phone 3 different times with supervisors trying to get the payment sent through. Thanks to the patient ladies who worked the front desk. The overnight attendant showed up before midnight. She took charge of the situation and had us in a room. The process took almost 3 hours. The stay was great. Beds were comfortable and the breakfast was good. I'ts my own mistake booking the wrong dates. I'm thankful to everyone being kind and polite.

Check in was at 4pm. I got there at 9pm and my room still was not ready. They told me to come back in 30 minutes and my room should be ready. Unbelievable and horrible service. Hotel was very nice, but staff was not.

After settling in, someone tried to enter our room with an assigned key to the same room. Fortunately the door was blocked. I then get a call from the front desk, not apologizing but quizzing me as to how I got this room?? This is terribly mismanaged and very dangerous. I stand my ground.

Staff was fabulous! Room was beautiful and clean. Very nice. Did not have time to use pool but it looked nice.

Front desk service was excellent on check in and check out. Referred many places for us and was extremely professional and nice! Loved it here!

Friendly staff, quick check in, and nice too

Centrality, proximity to USM, Amenities were all ok. Efficiency, accuracy and network coverage were however poor

Quite and convenient to the Interstate access.

The property is very clean and well maintained. It’s just a bit noisy from being close to the interstate.

The area looks sketchy but the hotel and the surrounding area was just fine. Would definitely stay here again.

A little wonky to get to the property but many dining options in the area

The location is great close enough to everything, but yet its quite, and out of traffic, so a nice walk ,can be safe and enjoyable.

We were there visiting University of Southern Mississippi. The hotel was close and convenient to the university and other places like shopping stores and restaurants. The faculty was very nice and helpful too.

This was a nice place to stay for a college football game.

Hotel was nice and clean. Was an easy stop after a long day of driving. Only complaint -the lady worker who checked us in was not friendly at all and seemed annoyed to help us. Morning crew was very friendly.

The staff was especially friendly and accommodating. Clean, comfortable and quiet. The breakfast hostesses were quick to replenish. Even when it was very busy and guest got a bit demanding they were upbeat, friendly and helpful. I was very impressed with their attitudes and work ethic.

It was amazing. We had a suite and it was very clean. The staff was super nice and very accommodating. The breakfast was also great. I was really blown away. 5 stars all around.

The breakfast ends early for those that don’t have to be out first thing in the morning

Our unit carpet was ragged. Bath maintenance was poorly done. Breakfast was substandard by Marriott standards.

Bathroom was super small. Room was very crowded with large dining table. They charged me double for my room and breakfast was skimpy. Didn’t even have hot waffles machine was wrapped up in plastic so it couldn’t be used. Want stay again
