The hotel was nice, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good and the man at the front desk helped us figure out which items were gluten free. My only disappointment was the pool - it was very cold. The hot tub was not very warm either. Otherwise, a very nice place

I was disappointed that the pool and hot tub were closed. We were not informed of this until we checked in. It would have been nice to offer a discount/partial refund. The reason I booked this hotel was too keep two kids in my family occupied with the pool while another kid in my family was at the skate park all day for a competition. I definitely would not have paid this much for a hotel without a pool/hot tub. I was pretty sore after driving all day to get here from another state, which was another reason for me booking a hotel with a hot tub. My hotel reservation through expedia was fully paid for and non-refundable, so I was stuck with it. Overall, we were disappointed. This was the first time in a couple of years that I've stayed at a Holiday Inn and I will probably avoid them going forward and stick to Marriott.

This newer facility is comfy, even if it's full. The free parking and wifi are great, breakfast has hot and cold options, desk people are friendly/helpful. Downtown Des Moines has mostly app-pay parking; during April multi-tornados, all was well-safe. Bike paths everywhere, walking paths nearby, East Village is charming, Science Center/ballpark walkable. Neighborhood is newer with lots of younger denizens.

Hotel was clean and rooms were decent. Breakfast was typical hotel food, not bad though. They did have a shuttle that would take you and pick you up within 2miles, that was really nice if you were out in downtown.

Very convenient to walk to downtown Des Moines area. Individual room was comfortable and clean. Staff were courteous and helpful. On the negative side, there must have been a sewer line break that left a unpleasant odor on the ground floor, and the swimming pool was closed for maintenance.

Great clean place to stay not very far from downtown. The beds were comfortable. The pool and fitness center were nice. The staff we encountered were very friendly. We would definitely stay there again!

Comfortable beds, clean bathroom, nice tub shower. Hotel is about a block from busy train tracks, we could hear the train horns occasionally throughout the night. We are pretty sound sleepers, so it didn’t bother us much. Breakfast was equal to other Holiday Inn Express, not bad and not great.

Very clean, welcoming, and comfortable…except the shower was barely luke warm and would not get warmer. Breakfast was great! There was an area to park larger vehicles or vehicles towing a trailer, which was great.

I booked a king room and was put in a double bed room with no explanation. When I mentioned it to the front desk, I was told there was no king room available? You could hear people walking above the room and in the hall and hear people talking through the walls. Traffic was loud, and there’s a train nearby evidently. Needless to say we didn’t sleep well. Old and dingy feel and smell. Would not stay here again.

The hotel was in a great location, walking distance to everything we wanted to do. Our room didn't have a working AC and there was not another room available. Very disappointed in the lack or response from management and poor offer to an amicable resolution to staying in a room over 80 degrees when paying more than $300 a night!

We had trouble getting the AC to turn on, but when we asked the staff they came right away and turned it on for us. The traditional hotel unit was unplugged and the unit was operated by the thermostat across the room rather than by the controls on the unit.

This was our last stop on the way from Denver to Chicago. The room was generously sized, and very clean. Parking was convenient and seemed secure. There was an internet issue while we were there, so it was unreliable, but at least signs were posted everywhere to let us know when we checked in. Pool was also out of commission, but again, lots of signage let us know. Breakfast was good.

Overall the hotel wasn't bad. Our room definitely needing some uplift. The ceiling was discolored in places along with the walls. Shower faucet was about broken away from the wall and needed more caulking. The hand soap was also empty in the room, and other amenities in the shower were almost empty. If you just need an overnight stay it's not too bad.

We enjoyed our stay very much. We were nervous about driving downtown,what with so much construction at night.They have a shuttle service that we used. Our driver Bill was very prompt and friendly. They are very lucky to have such a great employee!!!

From the first, the lady at the front desk was smiling and very helpful. When we couldn’t work the heat, she left her desk immediately, coming to the room to help us. Best stay in every regard we’ve ever had. Thanks Again!

The customer service was incredible! They messaged me on the app about my cot request and after finding it we’d arrive late, they had the pull out bed made and cot in the room. The breakfast was delicious! Perfect stop with family of 5!

Very quiet in a newer residential area. Within a mile of restaurants. Close to Grays Lake for an evening stroll or bike ride. Shuttle service to take you anywhere within 2 miles of the hotel. Nice continental breakfast area. Used the pool, hot tub and fitness center- no issues with anything.

The property was well suited just outside of major traffic, and made for convenient walkable distances. Very solid and clean place. A slight ding comes from the internet throughout the whole building being very poor/non existent.

My husband and I stayed here for three nights. The room was spotless. Breakfast was plentiful. Lots of variety. The hotel is conveniently located. Just south of downtown. Walk to the Saturday farmers market. It was a very pleasant and we'd definitely stay here again.

Our stay was for four days. Everything was great. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Breakfast was typical HI Express food. Coffee was good and food was hot. The only thing I would bring to their attention would be they need to address their landscaping. First impressions mean a lot. Would recommend.

On Expedia, the room option I selected had two beds PLUS a pull out sofa and free breakfast. When we checked into our room, there were only two beds and no pull out sofa. When I called the front desk, I was informed none of their rooms had sofas. Additionally, the next morning we went to get breakfast and found out you had to PAY for breakfast, there was no free breakfast. Very disappointed in this experience. I’m not sure if Expedia got the listing wrong or the hotel is doing something backhanded. Either way, I’m not happy

The pool was clean and comfortable. They kept the pool towels full. The hot tub was a it should be. Breakfast was always full and hot, and included pancakes, biscuits, sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, ham, sausage links, bacon (on one of the two days we stayed), pastries, juice, milk, yogurt, fresh fruit, and hot or dry cereal. Housekeeping did a great job keeping things clean. Great place for kids and adults. Safe area and easy parking.
