Hotel Granduca Austin

I like the decor and architecture of the hotel. We didn’t get to use the facilities much because we were there for less than 24 hours, however, we didn’t like that we couldn’t enjoy the courtyard at the time because it was closed due to being reserved for a wedding venue.

Used this trip as a gift for my girlfriend. She was delighted with the service at the spa and we loved relaxing in our suite.

Excellent Hotel. Have stayed there several times. Check-in is quick and friendly. Room is beautiful. Parking is free, and in a garage. Mild complaint is that I ordered a pretty expensive Ribeye from room service. The steak was absolutely not a Ribeye. I didn't send it back nor complain because I was tired and hungry.

I hate to be this person but I have to be honest. My wife and I spent this Memorial weekend at Hotel Viata and we will not be returning. The check-in receptionist was great and curtious. The junior Robin suite was beautiful as expected. Where the problem begins is with the staff service. The tv remote did not work and we attempted to call for help several times and no one ever answered or returned our call. On Saturday we attempted to get some drinks at the bar inside the hotel, we were the only 2 people sitting on the bar. The bartender was so drunk he was slurring to the point I thought for a second he was speaking a different language. He never took our order and when his relief came in he never greeted us or acknowledged us for about 15 minutes and was slamming stuff around and cursing under his breath so we decided to leave. On the same day there was some kind of pool party going on majority of the day and when we finally had a chance to go into the pool along with other families with kids the place was absolutely trashed. There was empty bar cups, food, trash, and wet towels on almost every lounge bed. Seemed like nobody cared to bother cleaning up a bit after the pool party. There was also empty cups in the pool and eventually what convinced us to get out of the pool was a white blob of something floating in the water. There were other issues involved that I do not have room to type down. The hotel was beautiful but it was a complete disappointment.

Wonderful stay in this beautiful property that reminded us of an Italian villa. We used the spa, the pool and hot tub and had the best sleep and space to spread out as a family of 4. We will be back and highly recommend this hotel.

This was a beautiful hotel. I would stay here again. The on-site restaurant was good and the gym has 2 Peloton’s.

Customers should be aware that parking is in a garage that has 7 foot clearance. Any high ceiling vehicles would be a problem. Property around the building paths should be cleaned from trash. People and inside building are great.

Fantastic hotel! Hated the parking garage aspect, but you can always choose to valet. Seriously SO NICE!

Quiet hotel with a nice atmosphere. Nothing over the top, but nice. The room was very clean and the complimentary water bottles and delicious bottle of wine ($20 value) in the room were a great add. ROOMS: The double beds are very small. Two adults were a tight fit. If you have more than 2 people, shoot for a king room/sofa bed room. Fridge is a beverage frig in which we were able to fit small snacks, a couple drinks and a small leftovers box. POOL: The pool was small in size, the water was murky and the steps needed cleaning. It could have spring water maybe? BUT the water was cool and refreshing after the hot sun. The jacuzzi was clear and hot. Chase lounges were comfortable and clean. Food ordered by the pool was good ($20 flatbed pizza, $8 beer, $10 fries fed 2 people). EXTRAS: Great fitness room. Fresh baked Lemon cookies in the lobby late afternoon. Yoga in the courtyard. Self Parking was very convenient. Front desk staff were all very friendly. I would recommend this for an adult couples get away or a girls weekend. Very few small children since the pool was not a swim park like most. Location is convenient to a grocery store, eating spots and downtown.

Beautiful rustic Italian-style hotel nestled in the Austin hills. The property offers ample parking and excellent amenities, including a heated pool and well-equipped fitness center - both kids and adults in our group loved these facilities. The staff provided outstanding service throughout our stay, from check-in to check-out. However, our room's condition was disappointing. The carpet had multiple old stains and an unpleasant musty odor. The bathroom needed thorough cleaning. The bedding and pillows were old and discolored. The chairs were stained on the seat and back. At minimum the bedding could be brightened with a bleach wash. While we'd love to return to experience the hotel's many positives again, we would only consider staying in a different room next time and ensure it was always a pet free room. The property has great potential, but room maintenance needs improvement.

Worst experience that I’ve had there. Entire 7th floor smelled like a skunk or marijuana. They tried to give me a room on the 7th floor. I had them change my room to the 4th floor, and they tried to put me in a room that had not been cleaned. There was an empty water bottle that someone had drank, dirty towels, and the bed sheets weren’t changed out. Then, they finally changed me into a different room that was actually clean. This took 30 minutes or so after I checked in. They told me that they would give me a $50 credit on my account towards my room, and I never received that. There were also too many teenagers and 20 year olds partying too loud, and yelling throughout the hallways. I have stayed at Hotel Viata around 20 times, and this hotel seems to be going downhill now. I am very disappointed in the service, and atmosphere.

My guest and I were bit by bed bugs and left dark spots and when we spoke to management the only removed fees and didn’t seem as concerned.

Poor housekeeping service timing. Stained and dingy carpet. Foul smelling refrigerator.

Hotel was nice. Bathroom cleanliness could have been better. There were hair balls and strands of hair in the shower.

Property seemed nice. We never saw a true adult working, all college students. Our room was small and carpet was very old and stained, we chose not to walk around barefooted. We will choose a more modern hotel next time without the view. For the price, there shouldn’t be pulled and stained carpet in the room. Nothing special.

It is dirty ..

The room carpet was dirty with a lot of stains. Window was so dirty it was opaque. Frankly, I would expect it from a roadside hotel but not from one of the “best resorts” in Austin There was also a lot of noise after midnight and early at 6am around the entrance. Noise like a car honking (playing some tunes) dozens of times. Uhm, I also called reception twice but nobody answered

Clean rooms, friendly staff!!

For us seeing an overall 9.2 rating we felt our stay missed that rating. I wld give it a 7.1. First the good, property is located with very nice elevation and self parking. The checkin process was smooth, the front desk was not unfriendly but definitely was not a warm friendly greeting. The room included a solid red wine, and the size of the room was good. I guess was my mistake but was expecting a tub for my wife but the shower was nicer than most hotels. We were able to get a late checkout which was really nice. Now the negative, Although our room was good size, the carpet in the room needed replaced desperately. There were several large stains that were just gross. I did my best trying to cover them with our cooler and luggage but no hotel even a motel 6 should have carpet that bad. The cost for the room in my eyes was very overpriced. You are charged an “Resort Fee” which I’ve paid many times in the past, however with that it’s usually a very nice pool. The pool was nothing special. There was a bar for the pool, but the pool definitely was Not resort material. We tried to get a drink at the main bar one evening and the young women bartender seemed overwhelmed & unhappy, needless to say we didn’t get our drink. Overall the hotel was just way overpriced in my eyes and sadly I remember this stay as the hotel with the nasty carpet.

Everything was nice and clean just the room temperature was hot , but me and my husband loved it !

Location was good for attending the Formula 1 Race at COTA. Hotel room was dated and carpet was stained and dirty. The restaurant in the hotel was nice and the restaurant staff were super polite.

Nice rooms, friendly staff. The most quiet hotel I’ve every stayed at and there was a wedding going on. All light bulbs really need to be brighter. Felt a little dark in every room.

This is my second stay and both experiences were great. Staff is really good and friendly. Rooms are large and well appointed. The restaurant serves a good breakfast. The Mediterranean decor isn’t really my thing but they pull it off pretty well. Not close to anything other than office buildings but terrific if meetings are nearby.

And the room (suite) we had was very spacious, a great value for the price. Cons: Rooms could use some updating, service was average. Most staff were quite nice just very slow. We ate downstairs and enjoyed the ambience with live music in the bar area but, again, the service was quite slow, and the menu was lacking. Overall we enjoyed our stay and said we’d try again, but next time will dine off property for dinner, and hope for a bit more attentive service.

I stayed in a standard king room on the 7th floor. I was traveling solo, and I felt very secure due to the required card access for the elevators and ever-present staff on the ground floor of the hotel in the lobby and outside in the valet area. My room was also in the center of the hallway (meaning equal number of rooms to my left and right). I never heard a single door slam or a shower start or a tv turn on. It was QUIET — one of my top qualities when looking for a hotel. Everything about the hotel was simple (not ornate) but felt very luxe. I felt like I got my money’s worth!

We enjoy our stays here everyone is always so nice so accommodating and the food at the hotel is delicious. This trip did not disappoint. I will say that this trip the bed was super hard and the pillows were super soft but we enjoyed our stay have Ibuprofen and will stay here in again.

We were really anticipating that this would be a great stay given the ratings. From the moment we arrived it was less than stellar. The valet approached us to see if we needed our car parked, and we indicated that we needed to check-in. I went inside to check-in and the gentleman at the front desk just looked at me not saying anything. I said hello good evening, we are checking in to which he responded driver's license and credit card...no hello, no welcome, he seemed really put out to help me. You might think, well they are busy, but it wasn't it was 10:45pm and it wasn't busy. I asked if there was anything we could get to eat or drink and he said probably not they are closed. I got my room key and went to the car to get our bags. The valet said we needed to leave our car key with him while we took our bags up to the room. He watched us as we unloaded our luggage onto the luggage cart not offering any assistance whatsoever. We came back down to get the car and he told us we had not given him our key and he gets alot of keys....it was now about 11:10pm. After we insisted he had our key, it took him 15 minutes to find it. We asked if they had chargers, and he said they did and they were on the bottom floor of the parking garage. Well, the bottom floor belongs to Apple and it was their employee parking. We went back to the valet, and he said no I meant the 4th floor of the garage which is the bottom for us. So, we went back to the garage, found the chargers...all

Staff was helpful! Kudos to Drew at the front desk! Very helpful and fast checking in reminding me of some freebies I was unaware of and handling a billing issue efficiently!

The staff lobby were very kind and helpful. The lobby bar service wasn't so good though, we order sandwiches and they took too long to bring it.

Need more staff. Very short handed. Ordered coffee and bottled waters, phone rang at all departments and no one answered as t all. Took 2 hours for housekeeping to bring more coffee and bottled water. Tile in the bathroom and shower of very dangerous when wet. Extremely slippery when wet.

My 92 year old mom wanted a staycation. We booked her a room at this wonderful Hotel. Everything was great but what really stood out was the service and the attentiveness by the staff, specially the cleaning staff and maintenance who went out of their ways many times to make sure my mom was taken care of. Thank you!

Great stay. My only concern was that I was charged incorrectly at checkout and told that it would take 5-7 days to give me my money back, “depending on my bank” which seemed to imply this was my fault. I don’t know why they couldn’t charge me correctly in the first place, it wasn’t a complicated stay with lots of charges. Otherwise, very happy.

Beautiful luxury hotel just outside of downtown Austin. Not far from the airport.Free parking. Beautiful and clean grounds. Friendly staff. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Complementary bottle of wine was a nice touch. Restaurant also delicious. Definitely recommend.

Very pretty location, gorgeous views of the city and green belt. Stayed one night clean, comfy bed and nice view. very happy with stay. not walkable, need a car to go to nearby shops and restaurant.

Good hotel but taxi ride from downtown Austin

Comfortable stay with all the amenities you could imagine. Every single staff interaction was pleasant. The craft cocktails were on point. The location feels isolated with great views even though you're only a five minute drive away from retail/restaurants.

Very nice hotel; liked the location, great hilltop location away from downtown yet everything very accessible. Easy self parking and nice outdoor pool.

All went well. Not perfect but well. I do not mind the high prices, but I want high service. The restaurant was excellent. Except no one returned my call for room service. I had to go down to the restaurant to order. Sunday was spent at the pool. Food was not great. Staff excellent DJ played the same beat and that was ok until we went our room and get some rest. But could that same beat continue. I was on the 6th floor and could diffently hear the beat. The view and the friendly staff was excellent. Planning to try to come back in late August for my birthday. Hope to see everyone again Gary Flores

The hotel looked nice. The service from the front desk and the restaurant was very slow and forgetful.

The staff was very friendly and helpful, but the food was very bad. We gave the restaurant 2 chances and 140.00 dollars later the steak burger on the lunch menu was good and The Impossible Wedding soup was good. The Margherita pizza was bland and very under cooked and the Carbonara was under cooked as well and not enough actual Carbonara in the dish so all you could taste was under cooked pasta. I understand going for el dente but this was under cooked.

Unfortunately we didn’t feel this to be a 4-star hotel experience. Location in the hills made for a great view and appearance of building inside and out was pleasing. The small details is what made this a mediocre visit. Elevator seemed to show age because the faux panels had chips and cut lines showed splintering. Outlet by coffee pot didn’t work so we had to move coffee pot to restroom in order to use. Wife said coffee was horrible. Room door made noises as if someone was trying to get in but it was housekeeping working at 4:30pm and as they slammed doors to nearby rooms the air pressure caused our door to move. I had to fold cardboard to stick in door to quiet the rattle. TV remote didn’t work properly. Laurel restaurant was very expensive based on the fact that entrees didn’t come with sides they had to be ordered as another billed item. The food was tasty but overall it was basic so we were disappointed. These details may seem minor to most clientele but when an average couple looks to pay a little more for a great experience those flaws stick out.

Location was excellent and staff was friendly. Unfortunately, we did not have a great experience at the restaurant. We had to send our meal back to the kitchen several times because the food was either overcooked or undercooked.

I just spent the weekend at the Viata. The grounds were lovely, and our room was spacious with a beautiful view. We rented a cabana and sat by the pool all day on Sunday, which was very relaxing. We hosted a birthday dinner at Laurel one evening, and everyone loved the food. Our dinner guests had easy access to the restaurant and to parking - no stressful drive downtown or struggle to park. We will be back! I highly recommend!

Love love their spa menu options. Lovely and relaxing. Restaurant is top notch. Bartenders need to be trained not to ask aloud for guests’ room numbers when opening or closing tabs as it is a safety issue not only for women but also for men. Pen and paper will suffice.
