Staybridge Suites Des Moines Downtown by IHG

Great customer service. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable although the bed was not made up well as the bed looked like someone laid on it. The refrigerator was loud and no ice machine so we had to get ice at the front desk. There was a smell of burned rubber coming from the electrical room which was worrisome and one of the elevators was out of order.

Comfortable stay. The hot tub was great!

In town for a quick 2 day weekend with a friend. Picked the handicapable 2 bed suite. The room was gigantic with plenty of space to lounge and spread our stuff out. Kitchenette looked solid but we didn't cook so can't comment on that. The beds were extremely comfortable and the bedroom AC vent provided ample ice cold air for quality sleeping conditions. The only two downsides were that the bedroom did not have overhead lights, only a small table lamp, and the bathroom shower assembly was quite subpar compared to how nice everything else was. The rest of the bathroom was just fine, though. Finally, everything on the 1st floor is great. Spacious workout area, ample pool/hot tub room, extremely large dining area and lounge, and breakfast was a good variety with all of the continental breakfast staples.

Second stay here. Super courteous staff. Hot breakfast our event was same time as their happy hour(Mon-Wed). They have alcohol for purchase at all hours($6 mini wine, $5 beer) and a little pantry. Real dishes. Parking is $20 which was convenient. Cheaper option across street if you want to be extra frugal

Keep in mind you have to pay for parking, but it’s super convenient.

We had a great stay. Really enjoyed the complementary food and drinks at the social hour on our first night. Kids loved the pool. Great location. We walked to dinner each night with our 2 kids (ages 6 & 8).

The hotel is fantastic. Everything was great, except the pool temperature. This is the 2nd time we have stayed here and the pool has been FREEZING both times we have stayed. As much as we LOVE this hotel, if we want to swim with our young kids, we may switch hotels in Des Moines. I really hope that they can get this fixed.

Upon check-in O was notified the pool area wasnt working. Thatbis why we booked this hotel. They said I should have received a call but I did not.

Overall it was a great stay. The parking garage was hard to navigate and there is not very clear signage posted for directions.

Staff was friendly and efficient, no complaints. Bonus was laundry machines at no extra cost

Clean rooms and comfortable bedding

Room looked as if all that was done was the beds. Shower was dirty with hair. Pretty sure there was human feces on the bathroom wall, looked totally unvacumed. Other than the uncleanliness, the hotel would have been nice...

Checkin process was smooth. Upon getting to our room I always check the beds…I’m a clean freak! I noticed a dried blood stain on the mattress cover underneath the sheets. After reporting to the from desk, we were promptly given a new room without delay. The cleanliness of that room was perfect! Hotel overall was clean, quiet, comfortable beds and an excellent breakfast! Would definitely stay her again!

The room was very modern, clean, and comfortable. Staff was very helpful and friendly!

Nice stay , great location! Convenient parking. Room dated, needs cleaned better. Food under pull out sofa and headboard of bed. Floor not vacuumed. Walls dirty.

We had to complain that my daughter found a long blond hair in her bed.

The greeter at the front desk was pleasant and knowledgeable. We were attending a concert at Woolys. Easily walkable to the venue and we had dinner beforehand at the Iowa Taproom. Also easily walkable. Clean hotel and room. Coffee was delicious the next morning. Breakfast looked and smelled great but we chose to eat at the breakfast club a couple blocks away.

We stayed here for state wrestling. Very clean hotel, super friendly staff. We parked on the bridge for free. Breakfast was good. Beds were comfortable and the room was very spacious.

The room wasn't as clean as it has been in past visits. It didn't appear that the floor had been swept well and I wiped the shower down.

Room temperature was Not a struggle. Bed was very comfortable. We had a king suite that had everything we needed. Breakfast area was cozy & clean. Would come again, happily.

There was some sort of issue because of booking through the 3rd party... hotels.com reserved the wrong date. Thankfully the hotel staff were super helpful and offered us an upgraded suite for the same price!

AC UNIT HAD A BAD BEARING OR FAN. EVERYTIME IT KICKED IN/ON IT WAS VERY LOUD AND DISTURBING.OBVIOUSLY DIDNT SLEEP WELL DUE TO THAT PROBLEM. 2. BATHROOM FIXTURES WERE LOOSE INSIDE THE SHOWER. SIMPLY CAULKING THEM WOULD HAVE BEEN SUFFICIENT BUT THEY ARE/WERE A SHARP SURFACE THAT COULD POTENTIALLY BE A PROBLEM. THOSE TWO THINGS NEED IMMEDIATE ATTENTION. TIM SCOTT 319-240-5737

The sofa bed mattresses are very uncomfortable. We had 3 rooms and all were the same. Our group had to lay on just the sofa or put extra pillows on top of mattress to sleep on it. There seems to be stiff cords under the mattress cover that make it feel like the springs are poking through. The breakfast offered healthy options. The reception staff was very pleasant!

The king bed in room 210 needs to be replaced or flipped (at a minimum). The left side had a huge indentation that I did not see until the next morning when I woke up with a massive backache. I notified the front desk upon check out with a minimal response of, "thanks for letting us know."

We were passing through Des Moines on our way home & wanted to spend the night in an area downtown where we could walk around & check out some of the local breweries. The Staybridge came with very high reviews, and it was within easy walking distance to several breweries, so it was a perfect location. It should be noted that parking is extra - but it was in a secured area, so money well spent. My husband & I kept getting turned around when trying to get from the parking ramp to the hotel. There is no connected access, so we had to take the elevator to the ground level and walk around, which was a minor inconvenience. The staff was very friendly but the room itself was certainly nothing special. There was a small, fully stocked kitchen, but the setup was a little awkward and we had a view of a rooftop of some building. It was clean and fine, but not sure it was worth the price tag. My biggest complaint is the lack of hot water and water pressure. When I went to take a shower, my water was barely warm enough and there was hardly any water pressure. One thing I will say - I'm not sure what they put in, or maybe don't put in their water, but even though it took forever to wash and rinse my hair, my hair felt very clean and moisturized. Sounds silly, but from someone who has a ton of hair that is usually very dry and frizzy - it felt pretty remarkable. We had a lot of fun visiting all of the local breweries and we enjoyed a fabulous lunch at Rrackss - all just a few minutes walk!

We reserved a one-bedroom suite and were assigned Room 414, one floor from the top. The room was spacious and comfortable, with a well equipped kitchen. There was some noise - internally from thoughtless neighbors letting their doors slam shut, and externally from traffic on the street, especially at night. The breakfast was good and included some unusual items like fried chicken (for the waffles!) and chicken sausage to go with the standard egg-based items and sugary yogurt. The evening "social," with free wine, beer and snacks on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, was a nice touch. The parking was very conveniently located directly next to the hotel, but cost $20 per day. Free wifi was lousy, constantly cutting off and requiring frequent sign-ins.

Great place all together. 10/10 recommend. Rooms are spacious and good for long or short stays. Comfortable and clean. Did try to the pool, gym or social hour but it was very welcoming.

The staff was exceptionally lovely! Very friendly, especially Jesse at the front desk. The room was beyond expectations for incredible. Very well kept, clean, spacious and a very relaxing atmosphere.

Overpriced and the staff was condescending

The AC wasn't working right, so we got moved to a new room with an upgrade. The breakfast was the best I have seen with even a few vegetables available and one type of cereals that was gluten-free. The view was the only downside but we loved being downtown.

Car was broken into while in their garage that you have to pay for. Also, somehow I was already checked it before I went to go check out. Left feeling very uneasy.

Excellent lodging option. Outstanding customer service. Will stay here in the future.

There was a staff (Tricia or Trish) that was incredibly helpful. Was once of the best staff hospitality experiences I’ve had. Kudos to her!

Nice rooms, courteous staff, very well located and walkable to many area attractions including the State Capitol, museums, restaurants and taverns.

Close to Iowa State Fair.

This hotel is ideal for anyone with an event at the Casey’s center. It was a nice 10 minute walk. We highly recommend!

Located centrally in downtown, this place was perfect for our stay in Des Moines to see a show at Wool’s and enjoy all the great food and drink downtown. Very clean and comfortable room. Parking garage basically connected to hotel. Great staff.

Positive --- Clean room. Great friendly staff. Good bed. Good location. Negative --- Bad smell in lobby and hallways, $20 per day fee for parking that was not noted on Hotels.com. Many "hot" breakfast items were cold.

The room was very clean and comfy. I did not enjoy the breakfast. Very poor options and not very good quality. The people at the hotel were great but the hotel did not provide very tasty options to eat
