The property is gorgeous. It has beautiful views and it is located within a mountain, lots of vegetation. The only thing that needs improvement it is the pool. It is very small and it looks too old.

Great choice for a one night stay before/after flight! It does feel a bit outdated, but everything still looked nice and clean. I got my hopes up reading about the coffee trail, thinking it was a longer trail, but it is very short. It is definitely still worth experiencing, but keep in mind it only takes about 10minutes to get though. We had dinner out instead of trying to the restaurant, so I cannot comment on that. We also did not have AC in our room. It was fine, but I didn’t realize that when I booked it, so also make sure to check. The biggest benefit was free airport shuttles both ways!

This is a perfect small hotel, which we overnighted at between flights returning to USA. The pool was warm enough to enjoy, there were lots of places to use outdoor chairs to enjoy the gardens and the birdwatching was excellent right there. Wonderful to have restaurant right here.

The place looks like a mansion and has secure parking (gated), pool, restaurant. It's not located in a busy area so you will need a car or be dependent upon tour groups to pick you up to take you places. The hotel does offer p/u service from the airport (which I understand is free of charge). We arrived late and check-in was a breeze - just took us to the room! The room itself (room 7) was on the first floor facing the courtyard/pool and did not have much in the way of airflow. A plug-in air freshener is not always a great sign and we unplugged it immediately. Would prefer a room with a view and one that would get airflow. (no a/c, so the screened window would need to be opened all the time) Other than that, the hotel was quite beautiful, the room was always made up every day in a timely fashion, the bed sheets/linens were great. The free breakfast and coffee was very good also. There is a bar there also (which we did not try)

This property is hidden pearl close to airport area, very well -maintained garden. Free shuttle to airport is convenient fto take international flights at SJO! The staff are very helpful to each guest! Restaurant staff service are great, food is excellent, price is reasonable! Very a pleasant stay, definitely will come back again! Thank you!

I didn’t like the carpet and the smell and the old decor that’s my main view the bathroom was well hilt however the water pressure was very low the property also does not have a lot of amenities

Very nice property overall, the room was a little humid and damp due ti all the rain. No A/C in the room to help control the dampness would recommend a portable dehumidifier. The sofa bed was really bad. Thankfully it was just our kids that slept on it but it had server spring issues (picture the movie money pit :))

We stayed in this hotel thinking it was close to the airport and a would be a decent place to stay as we flew in and out of SJO. Not close at all, it took us nearly 45 mins. to get there from the airport. Out of all the places we stayed, this was by far the most disappointing. The 1st night we got there late, staff was very nice & helpful but when we got to our room there were dead bugs on the fold out bed, and the mattress actually sunk in the middle and was so uncomfortable, the room had a very overwhelming bad smell. The following week we checked in one more time before our flight left early the following morning and this time they brought another mattress to go on top of the fold out sofa bed, which was no better, we only had 3 towels total so had to call to get more delivered however there was no phone in the room, we called from our phone & they didn't answer. Apparently the girl in training didn't think she needed to answer the phone, so we had to head to the front desk in pouring rain to get more towels. When we opened up the towels one of them had more dead bugs inside. Lastly, our reservation was one person more (6 vs. 5 reserved) pretty tacky to charge extra fees. In my opinion this hotel needs to look at the big picture and this really left a bad taste, especially with all other issues we had.

Our room had an odd smell and the walls were very thin. Didn’t really look as kept up as in the photos. Our rooms view was not as impressive as I’d hoped, and considering what we spent, I had expected a cleaner room and more peaceful stay. Despite this, breakfast was fine and the staff were very kind. Wouldn’t stay here again, but the close proximity to some yummy restaurants and the city of Alajuela was nice.

It was only for one night but it was great. Beds are very comfortable, place is very nice and chic. Gardens are gorgeous and the views! The restaurant has excellent food and service as well. I would only improve their old fashions! Everyone was very very nice.

This is a great property located about 20 minutes away from the airport. It has an amazing view of the capital. Although it is a small hotel, my family and I enjoyed it. It is quiet, safe and the staff is professional, polite and attentive. It is not crowded! The hotel offers free transportation from/to the airport. If you are checking out early, make sure to let the receptionist know, so you can enjoy a sack breafast to eat on your way to the airport. The only reason I'm not giving the excellent rating is due to the unstable internet in my room and no AC. However the tempature in the room was not that hot.

The property was beautiful and clean. The only downfall was the lack of air conditioning. We did not think to ask if they had air conditioning because we took it for granted that they had air. We’ve never been anywhere without air conditioning. The other downfall was the shower. It was horrible. There was no pressure at all. It took you a good hour to rinse off.

Amazing view of San Jose, including sparkling lights at night. It is high above the city which drowns out the city noise, yet just a few minutes from the airport. The surrounding trees and flowers make it so pleasant!

Nice property 20 min away from SJO airport. Good for 1-2 night stop over. Great view from grounds. Restaurant served good food and wait staff were quick and attentive. Small pool. No a/c which was fine but when leaving windows open, you could hear nearby traffic. You felt like you were far away from the city with abundance of birds, flowers, trees, and privacy of property.

I loved the property, we stayed in the villa #1 which was big and beautiful. There were paths leading from the accommodations down the mountains with beautiful trees, flowers butterflies etc. The view from the villa was magnificent. The restaurant was convenient and had mostly friendly staff but i would have preferred a more Costa Rican cuisine and maybe sell a few snacks at the front desk. I really would have loved if they had a relationship with one of the local restaurants to do deliveries! That would've been awesome since the local food was delicious! The t.v shoes were only in Spanish which I understand but the remote has an English input that didn't work. Over all I would recommend the hotel. I went during the rainy season so we didn't have to deal with any crowds.

My only complaints are the water pressure is not great and there is no air conditioning. My room didn’t have good air flow because of the corner location and even though the staff gave me an extra fan, it was still pretty warm. A mini split ac would have made my stay perfect!!!

Everything about this property and its staff was amazing. It was quiet. It felt very safe. The staff went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and safe when I return to Costa Rica I won’t be returning back into San Jose however, if you are, this is a great place to stay

We arrived at 8pm and staff from the hotel were waiting for us after we cleared customs. Check in was easy and the rooms were lovely. The following morning we enjoyed the included breakfast and the hotel took us back to the airport to pick up our rental car. Overall, couldn’t be more pleased with the experience and would highly recommend this lovely hotel.

My partner and I stayed at Buena Vista Chic Hotel for one night, and the experience was truly exceptional thanks to the incredible staff. From the moment we arrived, the front desk worker welcomed us with such warmth and professionalism. He offered us cold drinks and refreshing wet towels, making us feel instantly relaxed and cared for. The excellent service continued with the two male staff members from the restaurant, who went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. i loved how close this hotel was to the airport and loved the free shuttle. Oscar our tour guide was the best tour guide ever! He made our trip to Buena vista chic hotel worth it! The gardens around the hotel are amazing! However they didn't help us with our luggage even after asking, our villa was a long walk from reception. The waiters and the food in the restaurant was not that good. And the view in villa 2 looks out in front of other villas, and u dont get a great view. However with that being said our tour guide Oscar, the free shuttle, and the space inside the villa makes this places worth it.

We stayed in this hotel thinking it was close to the airport and a would be a decent place to stay as we flew in and out of SJO. Not close at all, it took us nearly 45 mins. to get there from the airport. Out of all the places we stayed, this was by far the most disappointing. The 1st night we got there late, staff was very nice & helpful but when we got to our room there were dead bugs on the fold out bed, and the mattress actually sunk in the middle and was so uncomfortable, the room had a very overwhelming bad smell. The following week we checked in one more time before our flight left early the following morning and this time they brought another mattress to go on top of the fold out sofa bed, which was no better, we only had 3 towels total so had to call to get more delivered however there was no phone in the room, we called from our phone & they didn't answer. Apparently the girl in training didn't think she needed to answer the phone, so we had to head to the front desk in pouring rain to get more towels. When we opened up the towels one of them had more dead bugs inside. Lastly, our reservation was one person more (6 vs. 5 reserved) pretty tacky to charge extra fees. In my opinion this hotel needs to look at the big picture and this really left a bad taste, especially with all other issues we had.

Buena Vista Chic Hotel is top tier. The food is delicious and the staff goes above and beyond in every aspect. I highly recommend their tours. I struck out and tried to hustle alone and in the end they sent someone to save the day! I am beyond appreciative of the entire staff. Jason especially showed a lot of kindness and gave me tons of information along the shuttle rides from and back to the airport. The food was delicious and I had a blast spending one of my mornings at the pool and another walking along the trail on-site. 10/10 highly recommend!!

Beautiful little hotel upon a mountain side. Staff was excellent and the grounds were very pretty. Only downside was it took 10 to 20 minutes to get down to the main highway and tour companies would not pick you up from there. You have to hire their shuttle to take you or an Uber is much cheaper.

The hotel was very nice and we had a great time during our stay. Staff was amazing, very friendly and always welcoming. The food was good too. I will say that if you're planning on staying at this hotel your best bet is to rent a car. Everything is far away. We loved walking and unfortunately we couldn't do any of that around the hotel because there's no sidewalks to walk offsite. The nearest attraction that we wanted to see was the Volcan Poas, but it was closed due to being active. So, check before you go. The beaches were also far away, we had to drive 3 hrs to get to a beach. Pros. Clean hotel, super friendly staff, peaceful environment Cons.. Far from the big cities and major attractions

Nice property 20 min away from SJO airport. Good for 1-2 night stop over. Great view from grounds. Restaurant served good food and wait staff were quick and attentive. Small pool. No a/c which was fine but when leaving windows open, you could hear nearby traffic. You felt like you were far away from the city with abundance of birds, flowers, trees, and privacy of property.

Staff were great and did the best with what they had. Hotel looks great in the pics. 1. Very noisy neighbourhood. Sitting on the balcony was not pleasant. 2. No air conditioning or a safe for valuables. 3. The pool was absolutely frigid. Not a single guest used the pool when we’re there. Nice place but not worth the cost.

The property is in a great location with 5-20 min walking distance to a few good restaurants. The staff was very nice but the food didn’t meet the expectations on the menu. It has no amenities and the pool is very small but the view was great as the hotel is on the mountain side. It is very close to Alajuela with an Uber ride being about 5 mins. Uber is very cheap in Costa rica.

Cute, clean & spacious hotel, love the style & decor & friendly staff. The view from our balcony was beautiful. What they need to work on is the food. My husband tried the huevos rancheros & he did not like it . Not that much variety to choose from . My son did not like the pancakes & they were also burnt. It would of been nice to have a jacuzzi. Pool was nice.

The views were absolutely spectacular! I still wake up hoping to open my eyes there. The hotel was very simple. We didn\'t mind not having air conditioning but were really dumbfounded that they didn\'t at least have a mini fridge to store your own beverages since this isn\'t an all inclusive place. Breakfast lacked flavor and it caters to the bland palettes that visit. Dinner, had we opted, would have been approx $42 per person!!! That\'s extremely pricey for Costa Rica. But...... the view...i can\'t say enough. The view really makes up for the shortcomings i mentioned. I will definitely try and make it back as soon as i can. Highly recommend this place. P.S There\'s a small convenience store about a block away. So we were able to get our "snack on"

This property is hidden pearl close to airport area, very well -maintained garden. Free shuttle to airport is convenient fto take international flights at SJO! The staff are very helpful to each guest! Restaurant staff service are great, food is excellent, price is reasonable! Very a pleasant stay, definitely will come back again! Thank you!

We only stayed one night, but this was the absolute perfect location. It is 10 minutes from the only Starbucks farm you can visit in the world (Hacienda Alsacia). It is 30 minutes from the airport, and the view of the city is magnificent. There’s a lovely walking trail (use bug spray) on the property, a nice bar and restaurant, and a pool. They’ll hand you an iced towel and a glass of iced tea upon arrival. The staff is excellent. Would highly recommend staying here!
