Central Hotel Panama Casco Viejo

Everything was excellent except the spa, massages were terrible and the service was so bad…. The steam wan’t hot at all and the keep charging for the use.

Great property. Nice touches like music in the lobby every night. The rooftop pool is small but very enjoyable.

Convenient to Casco Viejo. The valet parking was awesome. Efficient staff. Rooms are clean. Smallish. Will go again to this hotel.

We stood here for two nights before embarking on a cruise out of Panama. This was a great location in Casco Viejo. It was centrally located. The hotel is quite nice in the staff are excellent. The room accommodations were very clean and spacious. They also have a pool on the top deck with great views. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

The Hotel is just beautiful. Staff at check in was OK. The restaurants are really good, excellent service. Spa great!

Very nice property in the heart of Old town Panamá City. Very walkable to all the highlights of the city from churches, to shopping and restaurants. Also great breakfast buffet, a rooftop bar and pool. I had a great stay!

Staff at front desk were very helpful. Airport pickup was delayed as driver went to Terminal 1 but all passengers with checked bags go to Terminal 2. Pool area could do with a make over as looking tired. Lovely character hotel and the staff were friendly. Our room at the rear suffered from noise from a nearby plant room.

clean and functional with excellent staff

I never leave reviews but I feel the need. The rooms are not clean at all, there was a layer of dust on the shelves and the grout in the bathroom was quite mouldy in the corners. The room smelt musty, and there were tiny bugs living in and around the coffee maker. The air conditioning was week my room never cooled below 24C making it incredibly difficult to sleep. The staff were decent but they weren’t working with much. For this kind of money it was very disappointing, you are in the heart of the area however. This hotel is not worth the premium they charged!!

El hotel es muy bonito y está en un lugar privilegiado del casco antiguo. Podrían mejorar si corrigen ciertos problemas de higiene. Recibí la habitación con almohadas sucias. Solicité que las cambiaran y así lo hicieron, pero es de muy mal gusto llegar a un hotel con esas características.

I had a wonderful stay at Central Hotel Panama! The hotel is historic, beautifully maintained, and exceptionally clean. From the moment we arrived, the staff were warm, friendly, and consistently reliable—we truly felt welcomed and well cared for. The location is unbeatable—right in the heart of Casco Viejo and surrounded by vibrant culture, dining, and history. As solo female travelers, we felt completely safe and at ease throughout our stay, both inside and outside the hotel. The ambience of the hotel is elegant yet inviting, with thoughtful touches that reflect the charm of Panama. I especially appreciated the peaceful atmosphere and attention to detail. I loved staying here and would gladly return—again and again. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a blend of history, comfort, and genuine hospitality in Panama City.

Nuestra experiencia en el hotel fue excelente. Las instalaciones se mantienen impecablemente limpias y bien cuidadas, lo que hace que la estadía sea muy agradable. El personal es sumamente atento y gentil, siempre dispuesto a ayudar y hacer sentir a los huéspedes bienvenidos. Nos encantó la música en vivo que ofrecen, creando un ambiente relajado y acogedor. Además, la ubicación es perfecta: está muy cerca de los principales lugares turísticos, lo que facilita explorar la zona sin complicaciones. ¡Definitivamente volveríamos!

Fue una estadía agradable. La habitación era amplia y cómoda, aunque podrían mejorar en el tema de la limpieza. La comida estuvo muy bien en los restaurantes dentro del hotel.

I am struggling to write a review here as there were things that I liked and things that were really not up to the mark. Pros would be the great location and the beautiful architecture of the building. However; we were in a junior suite (room 135) which is directly below the gym. There was too much noise during the day when the gym was operational and at night, the music from the pool area would continue past mid night. It was impossible to sleep. We had to ask tue reception to swap rooms. We were moved to room 205 which was quieter.

The staff was nice, the food good, but the music on the square Friday and Saturday night ruined the experience. It wasn’t just loud, the bass shook our room and gave us both headaches. No matter that it was over by 9:00 p.m.; the damage was done. We cannot recommend the hotel because of the noise pollution.

Très bel hôtel très bien situé dans le centre historique, personnel agréable. Très bon petit déjeuner. Propreté passable. Attention, les chambres ne correspondent pas aux photos. Nous nous sommes retrouvés dans une petite chambre au 4° étage avec une toute petite fenêtre ne correspondant pas à la réservation. Après contestation, nous avons obtenu la chambre correspondante à notre réservation 22 m2 avec 2 fenêtres. Pas de bouteille de vin promise... Malgré tout notre séjour a été agréable.

Beautiful hotel. Large rooms. Our room was a little noisy from the street noise, but otherwise, it was wonderful. Wish we'd had more time to stay & enjoy it.

2 nuits dans cet hôtel mythique mais je me retrouve chambre 226 donnant sur cour intérieur sans ouverture réelle. L’impression de placard et donc une odeur d’humidité . Très déçue pour le prix. Le restaient terrassé horriblement cher 20 $ la salade verte !!!!

Great location. Lovely lobby. Wonderful and abundant breakfast. Only drawback for us was our room -- it was a family room on the top floor and window was low, hard to see outside. Also a little loud from room next door.

Top Location. Staff friendly, with a smile but useless. WIFI and cell phone signals in our room inexistent. I asked 3 times for a solution. Staff always confirmed, but never took any action. For a hotel in this price category, not acceptable.

First of all, the location was outstanding. Speaking às someone who has known Panamá very well for over 40 years, and resided in Panamá for many of those years, there is no better location for a touristic visit to the city, especially a first visit. The service was very good; all the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was also great: tasty, well-presented, and convenient... The hours were really great, much better than typical. The major drawback was the room. This is an expensive hotel for Panamá, but I still expect a bit more space for the money. My wife and I had a standard room, and it was really small.The shower was super tiny, and the design made it a constant struggle to avoid soaking the bathroom floor. The minibar was even more of a ripoff than usual. Other than the quality of the rooms, this hotel hots the mark in every regard.

Beautiful hotel. Front desk staff was attentive to our needs. Family room only had two outlets which made it difficult to charge all of our devices.

Great staff

The hotel did not send transport to pick us from the airport as duly booked and confirmed. When we asked the head of transportation, he was extraordinarily rude. The manager refused to talk about it and said just talk to reception. The hotel illegally deducted transport cost from my $400 deposit, even though it was never sent and we came in a taxi. The rude attitude spoiled the stay even though the hotel was great in other aspects.

I recently stayed at this hotel and unfortunately found the service and overall experience below expectations for a property that markets itself as a luxury hotel. Check-in was not particularly friendly, and as a Gold member with Hotels.com/Expedia, I was supposed to receive a welcome bottle of sparkling wine — which was neither offered nor acknowledged until I inquired. Even then, the staff did not seem aware or interested in recognizing Gold member benefits so we did not get anything. The room itself was decent and relatively clean, but the location was odd — facing a small courtyard with a direct view of the entrance, which compromised privacy. Basic amenities such as slippers and a luggage holder were missing and had to be requested, with some delay in delivery. During our stay, it rained heavily, and we were told there were umbrellas in our room — there weren’t. When we asked for replacements, staff refused to provide any, leaving us to go out without cover. Housekeeping also overlooked simple details such as replacing used shower caps and replenishing tissues. Breakfast offered a good spread, but again, service was lacking. The breakfast host was curt and abrupt, which left a poor impression to start the day. Overall, while the property itself has potential, the lack of attentiveness and service orientation made the stay disappointing. For a hotel positioning itself as a high-end experience, there’s significant room for improvement in guest care and staff training.

Service was rather poor. Hotel staff, particularly the front desk was unhelpful. The location in casco viejo is great, but there are alternatives with better service.

The property is in such great location that is very convenient and also safe to walk around the area, however with regards to the staff at the hotel...they really need to work on their level of service and attention to guests as it is very poor. I must say that we got the proper service level by only two guys of the entire staff we run into(Jaime and Ken). The rest is just not up to their standards of service. When we arrived to do the check-in there were about 4 or 5 guys who could have helped with our bags, but none of them feel bothered to even look at us. The front desk people didn't introduce themselves and just handed over the keys to our room with very little care and attention. It is a shame that such a nice hotel in a pristine location of the city is run so poorly.

Central Hotel Panama is situated in the beautiful and historic Casco Viejo area. The hotel is situated in a great location with quick walks to many cathedrals, plazas, monuments, shopping, and gorgeous vistas of the Bay and the city. The hotel arranged airport transportation and tours. The restaurants served various menu options, and the food was good. The staff was friendly and attentive. Overall a great experience and would like to stay again soon.

The hotel's main appeal is the location, right at the main plaza of the Old Town and also its historic, elegant look. Inside, the hotel has a feel of a big mansion from the XIX century. Panama City's Old Town is relatively small, so you can walk all over it in no time. The breakfast is a buffet and was fine.

We had a splendid stay at Central Hotel Panama. The location was perfect for visiting old town. Lots of restaurants and shops in walking distance. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and the room was very clean and well appointed. We highly recommend Central Hotel Panama.

Fantastic breakfast, omelletes to order and the freshest Panamanian fruit. Barbara at reception is exceptional.

The hotel was absolutely beautiful. The service was fantastic and the rooms were perfect. We tried every restaurant in the hotel and the food was amazing every time! We will be coming back soon. Thank you so much.

Great hotel in the middle of Casco Viejo. Beautiful hotel with very nice staff. Really close to a lot of things to visit and/or eat at. Highly recommend the breakfast buffet.

We loved our stay here at this beautiful property. The on site dining was pretty expensive, but ok if you are just staying one night. It's easier to walk and find more affordable food than eating at the hotel.

The rooftop dining. We checked in around lunch time and ordered the sancocho but the corn was not cooked! Otherwise the staff and front desk and the spa.. we great!

Despite booking a landmark view room with a terrace we were checked into a room on the top floor with windows at floor level that reached knee height - not exactly conducive to admiring the square and cathedral! Reception changed this to a side street room on the 3rd floor with a balcony which was a great improvement. We ate dinner in the restaurant, though that's not accurate since it was inedible! Breakfasts were scant and boring and it was very difficult to obtain items from the wait-staff (eg coffee and items that had run out on the buffet). I would not re-book.

Restaurant is overpriced, zero quality or food proposition and the staff is really bad. It is a pity, since the hotel and the concierge are very nice.

The location cannot be better; breakfast was excellent. We loved the food and the service at Bistro.
