Hilton Des Moines Downtown

The pool was freezing the whole time. They kept saying it was fixed but they were looking at their broken thermometer, not actually feeling the water. So the pool was never warm to swim in for days. Only complaint. Beautiful property.

Wifi didn’t work, tried to use cordless phone in room to get front desk, it had no power, had to call number for hotel online and got an AI Bot that gave me the front desk to get wifi working. Parking onsite is very cramped despite $30 per day charge.

Although the hotel was excellent the receptionist was not welcoming. Interesting how your whole experience can be affected by your first impression at the reception. Also, I don't recall reading anywhere in my reservation package that parking is $30/day! For Des Moines that's significant.

Walking distance to convention center. Hotel shuttle from and to airport. Also, anywhere within 2 mile radius. Excellent food at restaurant and room service.

Pool was too cold for us to enjoy, but otherwise it was a great experience.

They do have on site parking, but if you cannot get a spot outside you have to go to the basement and it is very cramped. Taking a truck or suv down there is not easy. It would not be for everyone, especially inexperienced drivers.

I loved this hotel. It was very clean and a very comfortable bed as well!

The staff in the restaurant were terrific, as were the housekeeping personnel we encountered. However, there was blood on our comforter, and we had to ask twice before it was changed.

The room was amazingly clean. All the staff that worked was very polite. The food was delicious. I would definitely recommend my friends and family to stay at the downtown Hilton. Having the skywalk to get to the Wells Fargo arena was brilliant.

This was the best hotel stay I've ever had. The room and view of the capital were spectacular. The pool was clean, large, and saltwater. Food at the restaurant was delicious. The staff were kind and helpful.

I like being close to Wells Fargo Arena when we go to concerts. The only negative was the outlets in our room were very touchy, or I couldn’t get them to work at all.

Had to park blocks away. Incredibly loud because of the paper thin walls.

There could have been more information about booking online, there being no microwave was an inconvenience and there could have been more towels and trash cans in the room but the staff overall were kind.

I really liked the room. They were out of parking so I gad to park in a parking garage a few blocks away, which was a bit inconvenient when leaving with all my luggage. The outlets near the bed were too loose to keep devices plugged in so I could not use them.

Rooms are small, beds were small. No microwave in the room. Its very inconvenient to have to go down multiple floors to the lobby several times a day and night to warm up a baby bottle. Not at all family friendly, or convenient with small children. This amenity should be standard in a hotel of this price and stature

Location was great. Rooms were clean. Beds seemdled small although was supposed to be two queens it seemd more like fulls.

The room was large, clean, and well furnished. We were able to get adjoining rooms with our daughter and her kids for a fun time in Des Moines. We arrived on Friday and we were able to park in the lot next to the hotel. It was only about half full and the spaces were large enough. The only difficulty was figuring out what to enter and where to enter it when we entered the lot the first time. Place the room key card against the flat pad. Don't try to put it in the slot like we did the first time. Of course, it would have been better if parking was not an additional $30 per day.

Housekeeping staff. After vending for long days not just once but twice returned late evening only to find not just one but both rooms had not received any type of house keeping. The trash was full, bath towels not swapped out. According to the report the rooms were done?

I stayed at the Hilton for business this past weekend. The location is excellent, the rooms are comfortable, and the food was good. However, the customer service could use improvement. There was an issue during my stay—something that was a mistake rather than intentional—and it was resolved. The manager personally came over, apologized, and offered our company four drink coupons for the bar, which I appreciated. On Sunday morning, Starbucks inside the hotel was closed earlier than expected, so we asked the bar attendant if we could use the coupons for two non-alcoholic cocktails. To our surprise, we were told that the coupons were valid only for alcoholic beverages or coffee. I explained that we simply wanted the same cocktails, just without alcohol, which would actually cost the hotel less. Still, the answer remained no, and we were told, “You can come back tomorrow when Starbucks is open.” Since we were checking out that day, that wasn’t an option. In the end, we returned the four coupons with our best wishes. I share this not because of the initial mistake—which can happen anywhere and was handled well—but because the bar experience reflected a lack of customer service and flexibility. A simple solution could have turned the situation into a positive one, but instead it left a disappointing impression.

Service at the front desk was very slow. We stayed here because it was attached to the events center/Wells Fargo Arena. The location was nice, but everything else was subpar. You have to pay almost $30 just to park your car. There is no information or map about the facility! The rugs and floors were very busy and made me dizzy! The breakfast buffet was the worst one I’ve ever been to - including free ones!! This was not free however, we had to pay $23 each for bacon, scrambled eggs, mystery muffins and burnt to a crisp pancakes!! If you need something such as butter, you’ll have to hunt someone down! Very disappointing and expensive stay☹️

Hilton’s always disappoint. I stay in Des Moines often and this hotel is by far the worst for service. It should be noted, bar staff is amazing: friendly and accommodating. Actual hotel staff is rude, indifferent and downright snarky. They will not provide housekeeping (even if you request it, and which they promise will happen) unless you stay 5 nights. I constantly needed to request towels, coffee, trash to be emptied and I was told they were unable to do so. Do not stay here when there are so many better options in Des Moines. Literally, any hotel is better than this one

The property is nice but front desk employees are not helpful. I changed my booking due to a concert reschedule and it took 45 minutes at check in to figure out how to fix it even though I had an email confirmation.

So convenient to the convention center. Also, the front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The man that checked me in, knew a lot about the area including cost of parking. He was very helpful.

10/10 - very nice, affordable and convenient. We were in town for a concert and were within walking distance to the venue and downtown. This will be our new place to stay every time!

This hotel is connected to the sky walk. We walked 5 blocks and never went outside. It was amazing.

The room and the staff were fine, but the parking situation did not always feel safe. I had to park at a city garage and take the skywalk or walk outside, even when I saw parking spots available in the lot. Three different times there was a man sleeping or lying in the skywalk and I was alone.

we stayed one night going and another night coming back from Kansas city to attend a funeral. There is plenty of parking by the entrance to unload. The desk clerk was friendly and helpfully told where to park right across the street for a couple of dollars. The hotel had a huge bar in the lobby that doubled as Starbucks in the mornings. Restaurant was also in the lobby. This hotel is next to the convention center and connects by an enclosed walkway. Downtown restaurants are very close and we could have easily walked except for the bitter cold. So we took an Uber. The room was nicely decorated, clean, with good linens and pillows. Everything in the room worked well, plenty of light and two chairs. Overall it was a good, comfortable stay.

Great location. I was told the parking lot is full and I would have to park on the street (but there were open spots). Outside at night, no security, beware if out at night alone.

Check in was seamless, fast and easy. Every staff member I encountered was polite, helpful, and pleasant. The hotel was beautiful the bar and lobby was exceptional. The room was modern, clean, and roomy. We had the buffet one day and it was good. Every morning I saw the lobby being cleaned which was nice. We ordered from the restaurant and the food was good. We didn’t get to utilize the outdoor seating area but that looked nice especially the fireplace. My only disappointment was most of the outlets in the room wouldn't hold our chargers (iPhone computer etc). But you had the USB ports so that worked for us. The price to park at the hotel was expensive but there was an alternative that was reasonable

The best characteristic of this hotel is the staff, who are so friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The breakfast is great. The rooms are comfortable with good closets and very nice mattresses and pillows. A very special thanks to Darcy and Kathy who welcomed me every morning to breakfast. Their kind and cheerful demeanor really helped to start my day well.

With the price of the breakfast buffet, there should have been more than 5 options of warm food to choose from

No issues. Hotel was great. Market was good. Restaurant was excellent. No problems with room.

The property was lovely. Our room was clean, beds were comfortable. Our check in and check out experiences were handled efficiently and quickly, with friendly staff. Unfortunately, our breakfast room service meal was extremely disappointing. We weren’t expecting a fairly pricey room service breakfast to arrive in a bag with plastic utensils, but it did. The food and coffee were lukewarm, if that, and the plastic knife didn’t make a dent in the burnt toast served under my eggs. And we’ve never had toast before with no butter… just dried burnt toast. I would return to the Hilton, but would stay far away from the room service menu. It put such a damper on our otherwise very nice visit.

Staff was super nice. Room was very clean. We really enjoyed our stay. If I had to be picky I would say don't get the pizza from the attached restaurant, it's terrible.
