Under the Tuscan Sun Cottage in West Los Angeles

The host was very friendly and easy to work with. The house itself was nice, clean, and as pictured. The bed was comfortable and the house was a nice size for 2 people. The location was convenient for going to Santa Monica pier/beach and was not difficult to get to other areas of LA either. The neighborhood felt safe. The pool and hot tub area looked better and cleaner in the photos online. The slide did not appear like it could be used. It is likely partially the time that we were in town and the host said there was a windstorm prior to our arrival, but the pool and hot tub water did not appear clean. I understand that the hot tub could be turned on and filtered at request, but did not appear to be regularly filtered, which seemed unusual to me. I would recommend this as a place to stay if you are not interested in the pool area as the space other than the pool was clean, comfortable, and had everything that was needed for a nice stay.

We loved this cottage and will stay here on every future visit. I have never seen such a clever, well-planned and charming space. You will not need anything. Milo has thought of every detail. He was a gracious and fascinating host and a wealth of information. Absolutely no issues with parking on the street. There was always a spot. This is a nice neighborhood.

What a wonderful property!!! Tucked away in Beth and Milo's backyard, next to the pool and spa, this is a comfortable, quiet little oasis. If you enjoy meeting property hosts, you will really enjoy staying here. Milo was the host with the most! He gave us amazing recommendations for food close by, prepared the spa for us and sent us on our way with fresh-picked oranges. A very memorable experience indeed!

The location is perfect to get to so many attractions in LA. Good for sleeping and going. Not a place that I would spend time lounging and hanging out. The shower and bathroom were unique and, water pressure was unbelievable. As with many VRBOs, limited bath towels and outlets to charge devices. Pool and hot tub looked dilapidated. Very safe and quiet neighborhood near a school. Parking is directly in front on the main house. Do not recommend for individuals with any mobility issues. Loose rug, and the bathroom floor just never dried. The bed is against two walls, so it is challenging getting in and out.Hosts were very nice , and communication was excellent. I highly recommend The Laugh Factory. Skip the Citadel Outlet mall. The original Farmer's Market in LA is a must visit. A huge variety of foods and sweets. Tar pits were fascinating. Parking in LA and Santa Monica is very affordable and there is an abundance of garages and lots. I would recommend taking a tour of LA early in your trip, and you get a taste of different attractions. Then you can go back of something interests you.

The property was beautiful, the beds were comfy and the pool was a lovely addition. The property is near the freeway and in the flight path of LAX--which you only notice if outside. While the property was lovely, I wouldn't stay there again. The host Milo was often outside (& super chatty) if we were outside, so it didn't feel like we had much privacy if we were outside of the villa. And he also made an inappropriate comment to my friend about "chasing her" if "he were younger."

Milo was a great host and had lots of tips for us! The hot tub is wonderful! 10/10 will recommend! 😀

Great communication and relaxing hot tub

Very interesting and comfortable headquarters for our visit to LA! Loved the decor, interaction with Milo, and hot tub experience,, too.Wouldn't hesitate to return. Many conveniences nearby -- including connections to public transportation.

Milo and Beth are kind, attentive, helpful, and a pleasure to know. The accommodations were spotless and charming and comfortable and quiet . We loved the hot tub. The location was wonderful as we were near all shopping and a very short ride to Venice and Marina del Rey. We would return in a heartbeat. Thank you, our new friend, Milo. Upon our arrival after a long journey, Milo warmly welcomed us and gave us a comprehensive tour of the rental cottage and its amenities. Every day, as we bid farewell, Milo offered valuable advice on exploring Los Angeles. Upon our return, we felt like we had stepped back into our own home.However, our biggest disappointment was the state of the property. Despite the high cleaning fee we had paid at the time of booking, we had high expectations for cleanliness. The pervasive dust, both floating and settled in corners of furniture, made our daily tasks, such as changing bedding sheets and lowering curtains, a chore. To add to the discomfort, the property was infested with spiders and their webs, hanging in corners or accumulating on light fixtures. One particularly alarming incident involved a large spider crawling on one of the beds.Another area that fell short of our expectations was the kitchenette. Shelving, the wooden cutting board, pots, pans, and dishes were covered in caked-on debris and grease, making food preparation unpleasant. On our first night, we had to purchase cleaning supplies to make the kitchen usable.The restroom, like the rest of the property, was in a state of disarray. It featured exposed copper piping that made showering uncomfortable alongside a numerous amount of spiders.In hindsight, if we had raised the issue during our stay, the accumulated dust would have posed a greater health risk if it had been addressed promptly.

The property did not live up to the picture portrayal. It’s old and dated and the shower is awful. I asked for a refund and was denied. Checked into a hotel The pool was dirty and the surrounding area of the house unkept.Would give it zero stars rather go to a hotel.Dont waste you money on this property you can’t putlipstick on a pig . Picture over sell not as advertised

Super clean, funky old world charm with plenty of privacy and space

I love this Cottage! I will definitely be back as I am a regular visitor to Los Angeles. Beth & Milo were wonderful hosts and the place was absolutely spotless. I felt very safe and at home.

I stayed here while dropping my son off at UCLA. It was perfect. Very clean and comfortable and close to restaurants, the highway, etc. The unit is behind the main house, but it is still private. The host was very helpful and easy to connect to. Best of all the bed was as amazing. I would stay here again.

We had a wonderful stay! Beth and Milo were so kind, amazing hosts. Milo gave us the grand tour and answered all our questions and gave recommendations for the area. It was super clean, quiet and close to everything. The beds were comfortable and although we didn’t have time to swim, the pool was beautiful to look at and there were flowers and fruit trees everywhere. It was so peaceful and perfect!

We came to visit Santa Monica Pier. I was with my daughter and her friend. This rustic little place was clean and comfortable. The check in was very detailed. Milo is very friendly and proud of his home. This cottage is in the back yard behind a main house. Depending on your taste this place may mot be for travelers who like privacy or little to no interaction with their host. My daughter and her friend enjoyed the hot tub. Milo came to check on them several times and told them some good stories. They said that they felt they were vacationing with Milo.

Had a long weekend stay for a work training. The hosts were great and I had everything I needed. It was private and quaint. I felt like I stepped into Europe. Would most definitely stay again.

We loved our time at the cottage. From the scent of lavender in the air, to the superb amenities (a stone-walled shower?!) it was truly like stepping into a cottage in a little Tuscan village. The energy in the space is great! Milo is very friendly and always available to help or chat. He had great recommendations for food in the area and made sure we had a real lay of the land. We can’t wait to come back and stay again!

Charming place to stay with a rustic feel. Beds were very comfortable. Hosts were communicative and available to answer questions & provide recommendations. Didn’t get a chance to use the pool or jacuzzi unfortunately as my stay was too short. Would stay here again.

Milo & Beth were wonderful hosts. Very detailed with the checkin process and easily extended our stay when we decided to stay another night. Milo was so friendly and willing to move pool furniture when we wanted to make silly videos. The room was very clean, and had everything we needed. We both felt safe staying here with the beach and fine dining not too far away. 10/10 will recommend to friends who wanna unique, beautiful, safe place to stay in LA.

The house was very cute, as pictured. We arrived late after traveling all day and Milo took us around back to the guest house and went over everything in the house. He was very friendly and talkative but we were exhausted and just wanted to get ready for bed. Having a book with all the information on the house would be a geeat option. I had also texted the number to let them know we were arriving but Beth had the only cell and she was at a different location that didn't get good reception. Milo did answer the house phone quickly when we called though. Milo was very friendly and came to our room almost every evening when we got back to see if we needed anything and offer suggestions for what to do and give us fresh oranges off the tree. I traveled with my 2 adult daughters and they were a little creeped out by it, but i think he is just a really talkative, friendly guy who likes to get to know people. If you are wanting a no contact kind of stay this is not the place for you.The neighborhood is really nice but out towards the busy road and overpass is pretty sketchy. So if you want to do any public transit I would take the blue bus, it was very nice and goes right to the beach and you walk through the neighborhood to get there. I am not sure if the hot tub works. You have to have Milo turn it on and when we asked we had a miscommunication about it so we never used it. The beds were comfy and place was clean. We used Uber and the buses to get around and were very pleased with b

Wonderful hosts, very helpful

This adorable cottage was well-appointed and perfectly situated for all of the activities we had planned. Interaction with the owners was prompt, warm, and very helpful, and we definitely plan to return!

One of those unique gems that exceeds expectations. While the pictures are accurate, they don’t do the place justice. The setting and architecture whisk you away to the European countryside and make you forget that you’re in the middle of Los Angeles. I’ve stayed in the English Cotswolds and this cozy cottage would have fit right in there. In addition, the owners Beth and Milo were more than hospitable and made sure I️ had everything I needed for my stay. They couldn’t have been more accommodating and flexible. I️ have stayed in dozens of rentals - this has been my best experience. I frequent LA often and hope to revisit this cottage as soon as my travels allow. Thank you Beth & Milo for sharing your beautiful space with the rest of us!

My 11yr old daughter and I stayed here and it was prefect. The host was so very helpful with directions, places to eat and fun things to do. We would definitely stay there again.

As a party of a couple and 2 friends, we made do with the sleeping arrangements. Communication ahead of our stay was excellent. I'm sure you are looking to book your stay based on the photos; sure enough the pool house more than lives up to them. The quaint ambiance was just what we wanted for our brief escape to LA. Our caveat is that, as other reviewers have alluded to, you will interact with the host to a degree beyond what you may expect or be comfortable with. In spite of being a well-travelled group who have stayed in many shared arrangements in the past, we found that his hosting style was overbearing at times. As a result, we found ourselves being pointed to a degree we didn't necessarily want to be. He also made some inappropriate comments. He was not ill-intentioned, but the comments expressing his views on COVID, our group arrangement, gender roles, and even physical appearances were not professional or necessary, and made us uncomfortable. Don't get me wrong - he is a very kind host who truly wants to make your stay comfortable. If you are looking for a lot of interactions with the host, perhaps you'll enjoy this aspect of your stay. However, his hosting style is certainly not for everyone. All that said, thank you Beth and Milo!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this location. It is in a lovely neighborhood on a quiet street near shopping, restaurants, and entertainment. It was such a cute space, tucked away from the main house and very private and safe.The hosts were very kind and welcoming. Email communication prior to our visit was informative, clear, and thorough. Milo could not have been more helpful with all the very useful tips about how to navigate the area and local places to go in town. It was our first time visiting LA with our family and staying there made our visit very memorable. Thank you Milo and Beth for welcoming us and sharing your lovely home with us.

Perfect location for going to Malibu, West Hollywood and Santa Monica. Easy to park. Beds comfortable. They had coffee and tea and plenty of supplies. Beth and milo were very nice. We loved the donut shop they recommended. We had a great stay at their beautiful home.

We loved our quick weekend stay! Close to the beaches and the Getty Museum, this little cottage was romantic and sweet. The property is beautiful and the owners are friendly and welcoming. If you’re looking to experience local flavor, the owners have many great suggestions and tips to help make your trip enjoyable and stress-free. We will be back!
