Hotel Auberge Manoir Ville Marie

Although the room was clean and well-maintained, several issues marred the experience. On the second day of our stay, the elevator stopped working, and a guest became stuck inside, causing concern. During my stay, we used the stairs to go to our room on the 3rd floor. The breakfast selection was very limited and repetitive each day. Many items, such as milk and yogurt, were often unavailable, and the trays were mostly empty even when we arrived early. Most of the breakfast dishes were carb-heavy with little protein, excluding boiled eggs and omelettes. Additionally, the air conditioner in our room was not functioning, and despite reporting it to the front desk, no action was taken during our stay. We would consider our stay was not that great, so we checked out one day earlier and stayed in one of our friends’ homes. I have taken photos of these issues and can provide them upon request for review.

No PARKING WE GOT FINED $180 For parking outside the building

The A/C in my room did not work and parking is limited. Staff was friendly and helpful.

It's a nice place, I like that everything is digital, there were details sent to my phone. There was parking for each guest too, which was so convenient. It's nothing fancy though.

La realidad de las habitaciones no se ajusta al de las fotos que parecen más modernas y amplias. La ducha del baño es demasiado pequeña. El desayuno es bastante completo y la zona tranquila y es fácil de aparcar, ya que el pequeño parquing del que dispone el alojamiento estaba lleno.

Central heating is very loud and there is no way to adjust it. Very limited parking and on-street parking isn't safe.

First off, the property says there is free parking available on site for people who book with them. This is a grave misconception because there are SIX spots in total for EVERYONE on the property. If you do not get there in time, you are forced to park on the street. It is free, but be warned if you do not have Quebec plates your car WILL BE BROKEN INTO. Ontario plates especially are targeted even if you park right in front of the property. The properties cameras are also conveniently not able to reach that far and cannot help. The manager of the property is also unwilling to help at all. She argues with you on the phone and tries to make it seem like you getting robbed hurts HER more than it hurts you. She tells you to text her all your information and promises to get back to you then never does. There is no way this property is unaware of these break-ins happening so be warned. The breakfast is mediocre. No warm food just different breads and jams. With some yogurt and juice boxes. Coffee and tea. The rooms are okay but there is no AC. Windows are also very old so very hard to open if you want fresh air. The area is sketchy. Avoid walking at night because there are streets that locals had warned us to avoid walking down as to not get robbed or attacked. There's also not much around in terms of things to do. It's a decent walk to a small downtown area where there are restaurants and shops to enjoy but the problem is getting there and back. Will NOT be returning.

Elevator broke down ok nobody fault however I asked if someone could help us to come down with our luggage because we were on third floor and we are senior citizen. We were told by front desk she had to ask the manager who could help…. Really and there was no manager on site. Luckily I asked another person and was ever so pleasant and found someone to help. Really nothing much of restaurants around at walking distance, The hotel need refurbishing. Breakfast is excellent. Parking extremely limited on the property.

Stationnement limité à même le Manoir, mais la dame à la réception a pris la peine de sortir avec nous à l'extérieur pour nous expliquer. Il faisait froid, de surcroit. Elle n'avait même pas pris la peine de mettre un manteau. Elle est même intervenue auprès d'une autre personne pour faire de l'espace pour qu'on puisse se stationner. Bien gentille la dame, elle sait gérer. 😀 Il paraît qu'on peut aussi stationner dans les rues tout autour du Manoir, mais on cragnait les amendes parce que nous n'étions pas certains de bien comprendre les directives des jours et heures permises. De plus, c'était un mercredi soir.

Room was nice, although a little mold in the bathroom. The water pressure wasnt the best. Had to shower against the wall pretty much. Staff were lovely and breakfast a nice touch for the price.

The room was dirty. We found some hairs in bath tub and even towels were smelling. Apart from that, the floor and wardrobe were not cleaned. we also found 2-3 flies and one small insect in room.

This place was absolutely disgusting. The bed sheets had stains all around and hair stuck in them. The room smelled like mold and the bathroom was filthy! I could not even sit to use the bathroom. Definitely after a long trip I couldn’t even shower, the shower head was disgustingly dirty. The first thing we were told was careful with your car because they will steal it, you need to block it so no one steals it. In addition, the breakfast area was in the basement, in which it smelled even more like mold. The breakfast wouldn’t be called that! No eggs, the bread was super dry and hard as a rock, the coffee was watery, barely any other choices whatsoever. The whole experience was a disaster and even though I hooked this “hotel” for 4 nights I ran out of there after the first night, as I had arrived that evening and couldn’t leave right away. This hotel needs to be shut down absolutely nasty in every way. Also the staff was nowhere to be found at the front desk. If one person was there he didn’t speak the global language which is English!!! A filthy, not safe, and nasty place, that offered literary nothing good. I ran out of there even if I paid for 4 nights and lost my money, but it was that or get some kind of disease there from their the nasty “food” or the filthy bathroom and room. And of course getting my car stollen, pathetic!

Room is ok! Washroom is dirty, the wall is moldy which needs cleaning has to spray some bleach to whiten the black spots, and the curtain needs to be change it’s stinky. Breakfast nothing special.

Das Hotel ist zwar günstig, die Lage in Ordnung. Allerdings haben wir in der Dusche direkt fremde Haare gefunden und ein undefinierbares Insekt mittels Becher fangen müssen. Insgesamt ist das Hotel total in die Jahre gekommen. Der Frühstücksraum ist im Keller (seh ungemütlich), alles abgepackt und nicht wirklich schmackhaft.

The location of the property was great - close to the Botanical gardens and to the old city. The staff was friendly and nice. The room was not very clean - we found hairs on the walls and on the floor in the bathroom and near the TV on the shelf. The towels were probably white some years ago... Spiders nets were above the bed. At night it was really hard to sleep because of the very noisy air conditioner and fridge and mice scratching in the wall. Breakfast was not great either- baked goods were not fresh, not even eggs were offered. Coffee was great, though. Overall the stay was ok, but will not want to stay there again.

The staff were excellent and service unquestionably good - which is why I feel bad noting that the suite was old, run down, the bed terrible, and the neighbourhood and hotel facilities just bad. The AC also didn't work, if there was one.

Room was clean and shower was excellent. Good choice of continental breakfast and coffee. It was also very quiet. The bus stop was just over the road taking you directly to the house metro.

Room was clean and spacious. Can be noisy from road and corridor depending on location of the room, mine was directly facing road. There is a air con unit that keeps coming on but there are no controls for it to adjust/turn off so noise can interrupt sleep. Continental breakfast was fine. Location is quite far from downtown which is reflected in lower cost of hotel. Completed online checkin as advised in email but did have to do the checkin again at reception so slightly annoying.

Room was clean, nice and spacious. Staff did their best to be helpful. Nothing really to complain about during our stay. The walls and doors are pretty thin though, so sound isolation was a bit of an issue. Not a deterrent for us, but bear in mind if it is a major problem for you.

We got the Deluxe package. Towels had hair from past guests. Ants on the floor. Paint on walls needs to be redone. Bathroom ceiling had weird yellow stains. Bed is comfortable. View from the windows isn’t the best, so just don’t open your curtains. 5/10

It is an old building at the far end of St. Catherine St. According to the information posted it has served as a post office among other things. The lady who owns it was very attentive over the phone. We were arriving late and she called to ensure we had entry codes for the keypad locks and again to ensure we got in. Aside from a housekeeping staff member and the person running the breakfast that was the only contact we had with their team. We never saw anyone on the front desk. The room was clean. Nothing fancy but more than adequate. I do believe the breakfast needs a little work. No juice, only juice boxes, for some reason no forks, no egg options. I ate there-coffee was very good, but my son saw nothing he was interested in. It’s not bad but one can always do better. My ONLY real complaint about the property is the parking. It has about 6 spots, without painted lines, around the front of the building. We were told that on street parking, on the hôtel side of St. Catherine, was not permitted. On the opposite side was good. So, I did. There were signs up saying cars had to be moved by 7:30 a.m. I got up and moved the vehicle to the street that sort of runs parallel to the hotel on the hotel side. That’s where I parked for most of the stay. No signs threatening tickets or towing on that street. Clarity on the parking situation is needed. Two days in Montreal cost us well over $200 in parking. Therefore, I didn’t want a ticket or an impound/tow fee.

The lady in the front desk is very very nice and welcoming shes the best she help and guide us in every possible way where the shops is where to eat, transportations and even walked us to our room shes amazing so as the rest of the staff. Our bedroom very clean and cozy, parking no problem. Its a quiet and safe area. Definitely we be back again and request same room lol. Highly highly recommend.

When we arrived Mohammed was so helpful and very cheerful. He explained everything thoroughly, he is an asset to your hotel. Breakfast was brilliant. The lady at the breakfast service again was always on the go making sure everything was replenished. Will recommend this hotel to others

Had a great experience with my stay ☺️ the staffs are friendly epecially the receptionist and the cleaner who somehow scared me in the elevator 😂 it was funny but she did a great job mantaining ny room. Probably the only problem ive encountered was the code in the main door. It was working the first time using my room code, but ended up not working for the nexts. I just used the original code that was given to me before check in. Overall it was a great experience! Thanks guys

Would definitely visit again there staff is so sweet and helpful. Especially the lady assigned for breakfast is a sweetheart and really kind. Thankyou for having us❤️

Hotel was very cute and historic. Could use some updates but nice for the price. Not a very busy part of town. Near the bus and metro

Personnel extrêmement sympathique, c'était un plaisir. La chambre est correcte bien que pas très grande. La douche était propre mais par contre toute petite ce n'était pas très pratique. Petit déjeuner varié. L'emplacement est pratique pour se garer, il y a peu de place à l'auberge elle même mais le stationnement est gratuit dans la rue. Station de bus juste devant sinon le métro à 12min à pieds donc très facile de se rendre dans le centre de Montréal en transports.

Tough downtown neighborhoods with tent encampments nearby. Older building, rooms with 12-14' ceilings. Close to town, adequate but no frills

The stay got off to a wrong start as we walked down Rue Moreau from the Prefontaine (green line) metro station to the hotel. We did not feel safe as the apartments and businesses along the street seemed quite run-down with broken windows and graffiti. Check-in was complicated by our inability to complete their online forms in advance (hint to businesses: if you want your customers to fill out forms on line, make sure that it can be done on various devices including iPhones). The hotel is old and has been re-purposed multiple times. The room was small and clean with a tiny bathroom but included a refrigerator. The continental breakfast in the morning was modest but good. The coffee was good and the toaster has seen better days. If you want to walk to the metro, take Rue Dezery, it is much nicer.

We had parked new car in the assigned parking area in front of the hotel. The receptionist had assured us that it was safe and considered hotel property. However, our car was stolen. There was no one at the front desk at the time. When we tried calling the manager, they ignored our calls. After waiting for a while with no response, we called 911. The police arrived and informed us that this area is not safe and that such incidents are common here.

This is a very misleading hotel. Do not fall for the fact that it is in the Ville Marie neighborhood — it is on the sketchy outskirts of the neighborhood. There are countless homeless encampments around the hotel, and there is a problem with cars being stolen in the area so do not park in the hotel lot. Would not book ever again

It was an excellent deal. Read the other reviews, so you have realistic expectations for your stay. I was a bit concerned that it was going to be too good to be true, but it met or exceeded my expectations in every way. The continental breakfast had plenty of options, though not if you are gluten free. The hot water took a long time to arrive, but once it did it was plentiful. My room on the third floor had an internally mounted air conditioning unit. I ended up moving to a room on the first floor, and it had central air. The reception workers were pleasant, and management was responsive. My only recommendation is to bring long charging cords because the electrical outlets aren’t always conveniently located. I am a relatively fit solo female traveller in her mid-fifties who likes to walk, and I thought the location was perfect. The Auberge is about an hour’s walk to downtown, Old Montreal, and the old port in one direction and about a 45 minute walk to the Botanical Gardens, the Biodomes, and the Instectarium in the other direction. Bus stops to or away from the Auberge are very close, and it is about a 15 minute walk to the nearest Metro station. I wandered around from about 9:00 am to about 9:30 pm and never felt unsafe. I spent a lot of time exploring the nearby neighbourhood of Hochelaga and highly recommend checking it out. As long as the pricing stays reasonable, I would not hesitate to stay at the Auberge Manoir Ville Marie again.

It was terrible staying there, the breakfast was horrible. No eggs , just cereals and bread.

Personal an der Rezeption sehr freundlich. Zimmer waren ok. Beim Frühstück wurde nichts nachgefüllt, Wurst-bzw. Käseteller waren um 8.30 Uhr schon leer,das Personal nahm die Teller mit und kam nie mit damit wieder. Kaffeekanne wurde erst nach nachfragen wieder neu gefüllt.

Jean the receptionist is fluent in both English and French ! Great person who made our stay go smooth. We had a great stay which included parking as well as free breakfast. Breakfast Options: Bread, Bagels, Cream cheese, cereal, milk, almond milk, waffles and brownies. We booked through Expedia and recommend this hotel for anyone looking to stay at a “get it done” hotel in Montreal without breaking the bank ! Reasonable priced, free parking mostly on the streets around. Free breakfast - cold cuts and cheese from Costco, but it not available 30 minutes after start of breakfast. Staff do not refill.

The breakfast service was excellent. Honestly, I booked this hotel just for the breakfast. The staff were very friendly and always listened to our concerns. The only downside was the towels, which could be cleaner. Other than that, it was worth what we paid. Plus, the location is great with efficient public transport nearby for easy access to downtown Montreal.
