We had a good stay at this location and we went around the area and went to places. Restaurants and bars and a McDonald's is in walking distance. Pool is a salt water pool and clean. Breakfast was good for being free with the usual stuff like scrambled eggs and sausage or bacon, oatmeal, fruit, cereals etc. Would stay here again no problems at all.

Room and hotel was clean and comfortable. Beds were very good. The breakfast was not as good as other TownePlace hotels we've stayed, but the lady servicing the area was helpful and pleasant. Outside seating area with fireplace was delightful. There's a nice brew pub across the street with good menu. We would stay here again if the need arises.

I love the room!! It has a dishwasher (Who ever has a dishwasher in hotels), a stove top, way larger refrigerator then is in a normal hotel room. The room has a desk that is very handy. There is a very nice pool. Check in was fast and easy. More than I expected

Loved the full sized refrigerator. As far as the "kitchen " there is a small 2 burner stove top, no oven. It was adequate for heating our turkey bacon. The toaster will need replacing sooner rather than later, but did crisp up our gluten-free waffles. Microwave worked. The wall sockets did not work well and even blew a whole side of the wall when i tried to use my blow dryer. We had to use our water pic by the kitchen sink. Comfortable bed. Safe parking lot. The front desk staff were nice and got the electric fixed fairly promptly. The cabinets and closet was designed for tall people. I'm barely 5' tall, so my husband had to reach for me or i used my own step stool. Nice shower, but room really steamed up and made everything damp. Better ventilation would have been great. All that being said, we'd stay there again. Just more prepared.

The hotel itself was nice. However, I had booked a king suite. Which was 1 king bed/ 1 bedroom and 1 double fold out sofa. I got put in a queen room. Stayed 2 nights. They had a good breakfast. Pool was relaxing and warm!!! Bad spot to stay if you want to be walking distance from anything, unfortunately.

Could not check in til almost 5pm . We waited in the lobby for 40 minutes while our room was cleaned. Front desk clerk said they were understaffed. That unfortunately is not the customers problem. Then when we checked in an hour later nothing was offered for the inconvenience. Room was not vacuumed, toenail clippings were on the carpet and there were no garbage bags in the cans. Also the heat had to be turned up to almost 76 to be warm and then went back down to 67 when we left each day to go out so it was freezing when we came back. The room itself was very nice but I would not come back if the service did not improve. We like the suite with the full kitchen so we can eat in if we choose. Sorry to be negative but I hope it helps improve so we could stay again. Thank you

Pros: Spacious Suite, separate bedroom, nice breakfast with varieties, friendly and helpful staff at the front desk. Cons: We were told housekeeping is every other day. We were there 5 nights and requested housekeeping as we didn’t have any clean towels anymore. They informed us they will “Refresh “ the room next day as we were out. Well, I guess we learned the meaning of refresh. They had come and brought new towels and took the garbage (5 min job) . But they still left the dirty towels on the floor, didn’t vacuum and didn’t touch or clean anything else. There was 1-2 dogs barking until 10 pm even after we informed the front desk. Perhaps, they can refuse to have pets or place them in a separate pet wing. I tried to stop by at front desk as I was leaving to hand them the keys and give them an opportunity to explain the meaning of “refresh” the room and housekeeping every other day! We never had a housekeeping for our entire stay! But there wasn’t anyone at the front desk for 5-10 min. Finally, someone from cafeteria came and we handed her the keys to make sure they are not lost.

Very friendly and accommodating staff- excellent! Room was nice and in good shape, but surfaces were not wiped due and remnants of prior guest’s food remained. Short stay so did not use most amenities. Overall nice stay. Price per night is s little over valued but probably due to being the only hotel in the area.

The hotel was new and staff where nice. The layouts of the rooms were just odd. Theres a narrow entrance with your kitchen then a very compact sleepong area. A TV sticks out on the wall on your way to the bathroom so if you are not pauing attention, you will walk right into it.

In July 2025, we drove from Kansas to Wisconsin to celebrate our anniversary with friends. We stopped in Dubuque at the end of our first day of traveling. The TownePlace Suites hotel there was super cozy and comfortable. The staff was really nice and helpful, especially Alyssa the manager and Terry at the front desk. We arrived early and called to see if we could check in early. Alyssa had a room ready and let us check in ahead of time. She even helped me with something personal, going way above what we expected. We also got a room on the first floor, which was great. Our room was very clean and comfy. The bed was firm but had a soft pillow-top, so it was perfect for sleeping. The kitchen was nicely stocked, with a big fridge. The Wi-Fi worked well. The TV was a little tricky at first, but we figured it out in the end. Before leaving, we had an awesome breakfast! They had fresh waffles, and there were lots of other options like eggs and bacon. It wasn’t just a boring, cheap breakfast—there was plenty to eat so we weren’t hungry later. Checking out was quick and easy. We definitely recommend TownePlace Suites Dubuque Downtown!

We really enjoyed the location of this hotel and that was our main reason for booking at this location. We did find that the rooms were much smaller than anticipated, the trains at night are very loud and woke us up several times, and we found the bed and pillows to be pretty uncomfortable. None of these were a deal breaker, just a disappointment.

Could not check in til almost 5pm . We waited in the lobby for 40 minutes while our room was cleaned. Front desk clerk said they were understaffed. That unfortunately is not the customers problem. Then when we checked in an hour later nothing was offered for the inconvenience. Room was not vacuumed, toenail clippings were on the carpet and there were no garbage bags in the cans. Also the heat had to be turned up to almost 76 to be warm and then went back down to 67 when we left each day to go out so it was freezing when we came back. The room itself was very nice but I would not come back if the service did not improve. We like the suite with the full kitchen so we can eat in if we choose. Sorry to be negative but I hope it helps improve so we could stay again. Thank you

When I Got there the staff told me that they didn't have the room I reserved because they gave it away to a Marriott member. So my daughter had to sleep on sofa. Never even gave me a discount or anything. I will never stay there again or probably any Marriott. Paid a good amount for the room that I didn't get.

Did not get the room we reserved, we're not told of any changes to our reservation until after we were there in the wrong room and then where told that we got downgraded due to some one else that stayed there more often w egg l wanted our room. In July 2025, we drove from Kansas to Wisconsin to celebrate our anniversary with friends. We stopped in Dubuque at the end of our first day of traveling. Apparently if you book a Marriott hotel through Expedia you are not guaranteed your room. We booked a double queen bed and was given a king bed and needed 2 queens. The lovely manger, who has clearly had customer service training, said it was our issue. So warning if you book a Marriott hotel through Expedia you may find you don’t have the room you need or maybe not a room at all.

The hotel itself was nice. However, I had booked a king suite. Which was 1 king bed/ 1 bedroom and 1 double fold out sofa. I got put in a queen room. Stayed 2 nights. They had a good breakfast. Pool was relaxing and warm!!! Bad spot to stay if you want to be walking distance from anything, unfortunately.

The room was great, wish we could have stayed longer! Came in town for me to run the Triple D half marathon. I was beyond impressed that they had oat milk readily available for the non dairy folks (including my ana to milk 8 yr old)

David was extremely rude and unprofessional. Our party of 7 adults with 4 rooms ended up morning to a different hotel all together due to mishandling of bookings. The cooktop in my room had burnt food on each burner, that would not come off. The fry pan was warped and did not sit on the burner correctly. Each pan had food crust from not being cleaned properly. The shower had black mold.
