Because of the proximity to SJO airport, I booked this hotel as an "in-between" after a long travel day ... But what a surprise, this place is a little piece of heaven right outside the city! The hotel property is like it's own little secret National Park! Rooms have air conditioning via a mini-split and private patios looking over the grounds! Plenty of parking if you're renting a car. Very well kept with even some hiking trails! The restaurant is a lovely indoor/outdoor setting and we had some pretty incredible meals! The only thing I regret is not booking this place for longer! We will be back!

This amazing hotel is definitely worth a visit. It features manicured gardens with over a kilometer of foot trails, swimming pool, pool table, dart boards and a wonderful on-site restaurant bar. Our room was clean with a great air conditioner and a ceiling fan. The hotel and its rooms have been extensively remodeled without losing the charm of the original architecture. With all of that said, the people who work here are the embodiment of Pura Vida. From the moment we checked in with Thomas we were greeted with open arms. Oscar made sure that we were well taken care of at the restaurant Pandora. This experience was further bettered by the reasonable cost of the room and the restaurant. After 10 days of traveling across Costa Rica I can honestly say this hotel was our favorite by far. If you decide to stay with these people you will not be disappointed.

A convenient stay close to the airport. The grounds were beautiful, with a big pool, pool table and dart boards. The staff were very accomodating with the hotel even arranging takeaway breakfast for us at 3am before our flight. Highly recommend

Wir waren nur 1 Nacht in der Villa Ignacio, aber uns hat unser Aufenthalt sehr gut gefallen. Die Anlage ist wirklich großzügig mit einem schönen Garten und wer Lust und Zeit hat kann auch die Trails dort laufen. Der Pool ist sauber, so wie die gesamte Anlage. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Unser Flug ging erst spät abends, aber wir konnten alles noch bis zum Schluss nutzen. Es gibt auch ein Poolbad mit Dusche sowie einen schönen, gemütlichen Aufenthaltsraum. Unser Zimmer war sehr einfach, aber sauber und war für eine Nacht ausreichend.

The property is lovely. Situated behind a high wall it is a hidden gem. The rooms are clean and offer all the amenities you could want: A/C, 2 sinks, mini fridge, sitting area and a lovely shower. The pool and billiards/games area is a plus and the gardens are quite nice. Also close to the airport but not in the area of plane traffic!

Perfect place to start or end your Costa Rica journey. Really charming property, tastefully decorated with a terrific pool area and good birding possible around the trails and grounds. Staff were helpful and efficient and the food and drinks were good quality and very reasonably priced.

From the front gate guard to the front desk and restaurant staff- everyone was super kind and helpful! The Villa property is absolutely gorgeous. The trail through the forest was beautiful and you’re able to see all kinds of birds. The restaurant had great food. Would 10/10 recommend staying here!

We reserved a room and spent 7 hours on the property before our midnight flight. We're so happy we did. We walked the trails on the property, enjoyed the pool, and had a lovely dinner in the restaurant. We thought the menu was great and reasonabley priced. It felt like a bonus vacation day.

The environment is beautiful, peaceful and quiet. The staff are extremely proficient and friendly. Thre are only a couple of things that need improving invluding adding a diverse menu with great portions. For example, being a tropical country the fruit salad would be one of the best dishes but it left alot to be desired. The second thing to improve would be the bathrooms..they flood while one is taking a shower and the entire space gets wet. Apart from this I would stay here again. Its a very beautifully designed, decorated and comfortable villa.

Ruhig gelegene Unterkunft. Das Gelände ist umzäunt und bewacht, sodass man sich hier auch sicher fühlt. Ohne ein Auto ist man allerdings aufgeschmissen. Service ist spitze, Restaurant geschmacklich top und preislich angemessen. Sauberkeit im Bad könnte verbessert werden (Kalkflecken etc.).

The service at this cute little villa was superb. Our waiter was extremely personable and made our first night in Costa Rica very memorable. The rooms were clean and spacious. The shower’s water pressure was amazing. The hotel was a little noisy since it is right off of a well-traveled road and we heard loud motorcycles well into the night. The mattress was fine for me, but some others in my group complained about it being too firm.

We booked Villa San Ignacio as our final night in Costa Rica - we needed a place to stay near San Jose the night before our 6am flight. We were so wonderfully and pleasantly surprised by what is a beautiful little oasis in the middle of town. Our family of 5 booked the 2 bedroom suite and it was beyond perfect. So spacious with an upgraded and very large bathroom. There were 3 sinks and mirrors making it super easy to get ready. It also featured a large shower with great water pressure. The beds are super comfortable. The grounds are really pretty and the pool area lovely. We ate at Pandora, their restaurant, for lunch and dinner and really enjoyed it. The food was well priced for a hotel restaurant and very delicious. Because we would miss the complimentary breakfast due to our early checkout, they left us to-go breakfasts outside our bedroom at 3am. All in all, a perfect gem of a hotel in San Jose. Would highly recommend for anyone looking to stay in the area.

Excellent place to stay for a night on arrival as its only around 20 minutes from the airport. A lovely place to start our trip with a very authentic feel. We didn’t get to experience much as we were so tired after our flight but the breakfast was amazing. Price was excellent

In der großzügigen und schönen Hotelanlage befinden sich ein sehr gepflegter Pool-Bereich und ein begehbarer Dschungel mit Trails. Die Zimmer sind etwas in die Jahre gekommen, aber funktional eingerichtet. Das Frühstück war gut. Betonen muss man das überaus freundliche Hotelpersonal. Insgesamt kann ich das Hotel sehr für die letzte Nacht vor dem Abflug empfehlen, da Check-Out erst um 12.00 Uhr ist und man den Pool (inkl. Duschen) noch den restlichen Nachmittag nutzen darf. Weitere Pluspunkt ist das man Essen mittags und abends im Hotel bekommt.

Stayed here for one night before an early flight out of SJO. Property was a little bit run down but clean and the staff was very friendly. The restaurant was convenient and prices were very fair. Only complaint is that we could hear some road noise, and found lots of little critters in our room. Overall, great value for what we paid.

Das Bett war sehr gut. Das Zimmer war als schallisoliert beworben, war aber sehr laut. Das Schnarchen aus dem Nebenzimmer war zu hören. Wasserleitungen waren ebenfalls stark zu hören. Die Zimmertür war sehr hellhörig.

This is a gorgeous property and my room was a wonderful retreat. But the property borders a main thoroughfare and therefor the traffic noise was a bit much. It's important to note that I am a Caribbean person who like many others in the tropics live with our windows open so I can expect to hear everything outside.

What a great place to stay for the night before our flight. The beds are firm, which I like, and the pillows are probably the most comfortable pillows of all my travels. The fish tacos were excellent and the gallo pinto in the typico breakfast was the best I’ve had on 2 trips to Costa Rica. The place was very clean. Hot water in the showers was excellent and the water pressure is the highest pressure I’ve seen anywhere including my own home in the States. The one negative is the street noise. It was extremely loud in our standard room. We were not in a room facing the street but on the back side of the building near the street. The motorcycles and big trucks did finally quiet down from about 10 or 11 pm until maybe 6 am. My tip: Pay extra to get a room not at the front of the property.

For the price, i expected a nicer room. The shower was pathetic, with a horrible shower head and hardly any water pressure. No a/c or TV. It was a very basic, unimpressive room.

My family and I had the best experience at Villa San Ignacio this past week. We were a large group and everyone there was so incredibly helpful and kind. The service was really outstanding in every way. The grounds are also beautiful making the overall atmosphere so relaxing. I love the style of the restaurant as well. The rooms were super clean too! I really hope to be able to go back one day when I’m passing through the San Jose area 😊

We came in very late from the airport and they were able to get us in late (after midnight). Great breakfast the next day. Overall the room was more spacious than we expected and was such a great value as the price included breakfast for all 6 of us. Great entry into Costa Rica for us. The security the night before and the restaurant staff were top notch!!

Villa San Ignacio is my new home away from home. They make you feel welcome & safe! The rooms are quaint & clean with the absolute best service I’ve ever had. The chef at the Pandora restaurant has gifted hands & everything I ate was delicious! Looking forward to visiting again!!

The staff at the restaurant’s hotel is great - warm and ready to serve you after a long flight or a long car ride. The gate security knocked on our door to let us know the light in our car was left on. Very highly recommended.

We had a wonderful experience staying at Villa San Ignacio and really wish we could have been there longer. The amazing service started when we were at the Houston airport waiting for our connecting flight to San Jose. We realized that by the time our flight arrived and we rented our car that the dining options were going to be limited and we would be tired and hungry. Villa San Ignacio offers a late arrival menu and we immediately placed an order on WhatsApp for Arroz con Pollo and some beers. The staff responded immediately and said our meal would be waiting for us when we arrived. Sure enough, it was quite late by the time we left the airport, rented a car and made our way to the hotel. The directions were excellent and we were greeted by Jonathan at the gate and immediately given the key to our room. We parked and brought our bags into the room. Minutes later Jonathan was knocking at the door with our absolutely delicious hot dinner and cold beer (we ate outside on the veranda). We couldn't have been happier after a long travel day. The rooms are large and very comfortable. The hotel grounds are gorgeous and very quiet. The pool looked amazing but we didn't have time to enjoy it. The included breakfast was every bit as good as our dinner. I strongly recommend Villa San Ignacio and the amazing staff who took care of every detail during our visit.

This is a lovely place to stay when you arrive in Costa Rica. The grounds are beautiful, the rooms are comfortable and the staff are exceptional. They are only about 20 minutes from San Jose airport, and a great place to begin your Cost Rican adventure. We stayed here the night of our arrival and again the night before getting flights home. We had very early flights home and they made us breafast delivered to our rooms at 2.30am, 5 am and 6am! They also arranged for the taxi pickups.

From the front gate guard to the front desk and restaurant staff- everyone was super kind and helpful! The Villa property is absolutely gorgeous. The trail through the forest was beautiful and you’re able to see all kinds of birds. The restaurant had great food. Would 10/10 recommend staying here!

Because of the proximity to SJO airport, I booked this hotel as an "in-between" after a long travel day ... But what a surprise, this place is a little piece of heaven right outside the city! The hotel property is like it's own little secret National Park! Rooms have air conditioning via a mini-split and private patios looking over the grounds! Plenty of parking if you're renting a car. Very well kept with even some hiking trails! The restaurant is a lovely indoor/outdoor setting and we had some pretty incredible meals! The only thing I regret is not booking this place for longer! We will be back!

Excellent place to stay for a night on arrival as its only around 20 minutes from the airport. A lovely place to start our trip with a very authentic feel. We didn’t get to experience much as we were so tired after our flight but the breakfast was amazing. Price was excellent

Stayed here for one night before an early flight out of SJO. Property was a little bit run down but clean and the staff was very friendly. The restaurant was convenient and prices were very fair. Only complaint is that we could hear some road noise, and found lots of little critters in our room. Overall, great value for what we paid.

The “Honeymoon Suite” with 1 king bed had a ton of space and a large outdoor terrace (it was on the second floor). The restaurant was good for both dinner and the included breakfast. It is on a busy road but feels secluded with the gate and large property.

Charming little gem in the middle of the city. Clean and bright rooms with beautiful gardens. Surrounding neighborhood area is a bit rough so walking isnt advisable. Great breakfast included. The only thing I would suggest the owners add are extra door locks for security once inside the room. These only have small pin locks on the door handles.

Our first visit to Costa Rica and this was a perfect starter Hotel. The grounds were beautiful and the dining/pool area amazing! The staff was on point and very hospitable. We booked Villa San Ignacio as our final night in Costa Rica - we needed a place to stay near San Jose the night before our 6am flight. We were so wonderfully and pleasantly surprised by what is a beautiful little oasis in the middle of town. Our family of 5 booked the 2 bedroom suite and it was beyond perfect. So spacious with an upgraded and very large bathroom. There were 3 sinks and mirrors making it super easy to get ready. It also featured a large shower with great water pressure. The beds are super comfortable. The grounds are really pretty and the pool area lovely. We ate at Pandora, their restaurant, for lunch and dinner and really enjoyed it. The food was well priced for a hotel restaurant and very delicious. Because we would miss the complimentary breakfast due to our early checkout, they left us to-go breakfasts outside our bedroom at 3am. All in all, a perfect gem of a hotel in San Jose. Would highly recommend for anyone looking to stay in the area.

We really enjoyed our stay here. From the decor to the comfy beds and the nice shower pressure , to the amazing dinner, it was better than we hoped for! We came with two other couples and everyone was super happy. The only reason I didn’t give this a perfect score is the breakfast was a total let down. It was very basic and just not good. After the amazing dinner we had we were all looking forward to breakfast and we’re extremely disappointed.

We enjoyed the grounds and restaurant very much! Good food and lots of birds in the morning. Dinner was one of the best meals we had in Costa Rica! Staff was great and handed us umbrellas when we drove in during a downpour. Close to airport as well.

This small hotel and compound has a very good restaurant, pool and bar set up. We regularly use it coming in and out of SJO as a stopping off point. It’s great value and very nice.

What a great place to stay for the night before our flight. The beds are firm, which I like, and the pillows are probably the most comfortable pillows of all my travels. The fish tacos were excellent and the gallo pinto in the typico breakfast was the best I’ve had on 2 trips to Costa Rica. The place was very clean. Hot water in the showers was excellent and the water pressure is the highest pressure I’ve seen anywhere including my own home in the States. The one negative is the street noise. It was extremely loud in our standard room. We were not in a room facing the street but on the back side of the building near the street.
