Catalonia Grand Costa Mujeres All Suites & Spa - All Inclusive

Some of the best food, good drinks, always entertainment somewhere. However, there are a lot of young kids and very family oriented. The beach is beautiful, white sand. There is a "privileged" option, which gets their own bar, resteraunt and half the beach. Didn't really notice a difference not having it, as there are plenty of resteraunts and space. One downside is there is not enough chairs around the entertainment pool, and lack of bar outside the pool. Where the quieter pool has a pool bar and swim up. Should have both at each pool.

Loved the property! Room was exquisite! Food was great. I’m only giving 4 stars because I was not able to use the online booking service, and when I went to the front desk to get the issue corrected I felt like I was bothering them. And there was definitely favoritism towards the English speaking guests and guests with Spanish accents. I do recommend going the privilege route, it’s worth it.

Ideal para familias y muy buen ambiente

The hotel is pretty new and well maintained. The grounds are pretty and spacious. Two nice pools, beautiful beach. Jony the Pool and Beach manager was very helpful in answering some of our questions about restaurants and transportation. Gustavo at the Beloved restaurant was very attentive and nice. Nightly shows were great, as well as the bands and activities each night. I recommend this resort especially if you take the preferred suite. Well worth it.

As a family of 6 the room had no privacy to change or get dressed. 2 queen beds super uncomfortable to sleep on and I don’t think a fold out should equate to a bed especially for my teenagers. The bathrooms were worn and could use a good clean. The restaurants were good but making a reservation was hard and only had openings after 9:30. The check in process was hectic! Crowded and took forever. The drinks are not strong at all. We paid for an upgrade and were contacted the next day that a room was wasn’t available. We were offered dinner reservations at earlier times for the inconvenience when we showed up to the restaurants they had no idea what we were talking about- we had a text from the manager. Guest services helped us eventually. The shows were good but progressively became inappropriate for kids. We walked out of the ‘The Rock Show’ because it was bordering a strip show other families left as well. The food trucks, tacos, ceviche, crepes and cafe were really great! The pools were great! The beach was good could’ve used more shade areas and lounge chairs. The service by the pool was great- workers were very hospitable and nice! Workers asking to take photos was annoying!! I agreed to taking some with my daughter and thought maybe max 5 poses but they kept insisting on more poses - it was awkward. And when they’d come back around they didn’t take ‘no’ for an answer and that’s what made it annoying. Take mosquito spray!!! It was an okay stay.

The property was amazing. It had clean beaches, rooms and restaurants. The pools were to die for too. Really recommend it. The only faults I found is that most of the elevators weren’t working and we have to use the staff elevators

Horrible dining service. Restaurants have no AC. Grand caribe which is the main restaurant has a long line to get inside every day. As a customer we waited for about 20-30 minutes outside ( 90 Fahrenheit feels like 105) grand caribe food was ok but the line was not acceptable. Can you believe it ? You paid 350$ for 1 night and you wait on the line to eat . You decide not to go to that restaurant and you try the other restaurants. For example Mexican, no AC no fan. You try another one, steak house. There’s no AC. You sweat and eat. I have never seen something like this. The best thing was the entertainment at the theater, they were very succcessful. We didn’t miss the shows at 9 pm every night. Also the lady who was serving at the beach was great. She was smiling all the time and asking if we want something to drink. Perfect service At the beach bar. I don’t recommend this hotel,

This is the first time I have ever stayed at an all inclusive resort and I had heard these types of vacation can be hit or miss but we had a great time at Catalonia! The food was above average to good across the board (habachi was the best meal we had) and the service overall was great! For dinner at any of the restaurants, we had to make reservations and the process of doing so was confusing at times. Having exclusive access to the beach right off the property was also amazing. We did not have the best weather, so we were a little disappointed in the fact that neither pool was heated and there were no hot tubs on the property. Overall it was a good trip and we would go back!

Nice resort. It’s very clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. We were disappointed that there’s not a lot to do besides the pools. They do have a kids club and a teen center but the hours are short and the teen center gets tons of activity but isn’t open all the time either. I don't understand why they wouldn't enlarge the teen center, (everyone goes there not just teens), it wouldn’t cost very much, they seem to have plenty of space and they are saving tons because I didn't see any heavy drinking going on like the other all inclusives I’ve been to. They do have nightly shows and they were entertaining.

Not a 5 star by far, very compact, small pools and tons of toddlers!! Counted 15 toddlers in pool one day, no adult areas at all. Pools way too small for the amount of people there, overcrowded and it was off season. Food in restaurants was ok but Buffett was below average for a 5 star...3.5 at best. No she at the beach! the 10 chairs that had tarps over them had no beach view, hidden behind dunes! Better value for money at other resorts IMHO.

The room on the first day smelled horrible because it was freshly painted with oil based paint. The hotel was only at 40% occupancy but our room was not ready at 3pm. After running the AC in the room, it started to smell musty or mildew. When you opened the room door from the hall, the smell would hit you. Both my husband and I got sick. The buffet is extremely lack luster. This is the first resort in the area where I have been where the servers and bartenders do not know English. I understand we were in Mexico but usually the service staff is able to speak English so it made dining and ordering drinks difficult. The bartenders at the swim up bar lacked personality. It almost seemed like you were causing them an inconvenience by asking them for a drink. We were just at the Finest Costa Mujeres in May and I would gladly spend the extra money the next time to avoid the Catalonia. The money saved was not worth the terrible food and service.

My experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing. From the moment we arrived, everything was disorganized. We did not receive the welcome drink, we had to wait a long time, and no one accompanied us or even showed us where our room was. To make it worse, it was raining and all they did was hand us an umbrella with no assistance or guidance. The hotel itself is poorly maintained. There are areas with unfinished details, viewing points with broken glass that have not been repaired, and cups thrown around the hallways. It reflects a lack of cleanliness and attention to safety. Overall, the service from the staff was consistently poor. The food was another huge disappointment. They advertise 16 restaurants, but we were never able to eat at any of them because everything was always “full,” and no one made the slightest effort to help with reservations or offer alternatives. The food options we did see were basic, lacking identity, and nothing like what the hotel promotes. Entertainment was also a letdown. Their entertainment team does not provide information or engage with guests, and you rarely see anyone sharing updates or leading activities. Service at the beach and the pool was terrible—slow, inattentive, and clearly understaffed. On top of that, some of the external restrooms were not clean, which is unacceptable for a resort at this level. To finish, the hotel does not offer any proper transportation service. My boyfriend and I stayed for 7 nights. Overall, my stay in Catalonia was mixed. My first impression of the property was that it was beautiful. It has modern aesthetics and lush gardens with a very nice private beach front. Since it’s advertised as 5-star, I was impressed by the service that I received throughout the stay. However, I was very disappointed by the cleanliness and the state of the facilities in the resort. For one, there were random stains all over the room that we stayed. The room has modern aesthetics but the couches and chairs have weird stains, the walls and floors were poorly cleaned. There was black mould on the sinks and shower floors. Which made me wonder how this resort is considered 5-star. Another instance that the resort falls consistently short is that the bed sheets didn’t seem clean at all. There were questionable stains left on the sheets like wine stains, weird black/dark stains, and in one instance (the day of our check-in), leftover food crumbs were seen on the ‘clean’ sheets. Everyday, I’d ask for my sheets replaced as I felt that the cleanliness didn’t reflect the 5-star reputation that the resort has. But housekeeping comes in everyday to clean the room and refill anything that needs to be refilled. Another thing is that the shower door doesn’t block the water well that it leaks out of the door that it constantly floods every time you use it. Overall, it’s a decent AI resort but it’s definitely not a 5-star resort that it claims to be

This is our first trip to Mexico when the service was a big disappointment.. Nice hotel, nice beach, good food. The worse was bar at the beach (and yes, we were tipping), slow and water down drink. I'm not a big drinker but when you order an aperol and they are skipping the prosecco (just aperol and sparkling water) it's very water down. Service during the breakfast and lunch doesn't really exist, you have to ask for water and coffee. Forget about refills. It's slightly better during the dinner. We celebrated my daughter 30th birthday. They said they would put banner and deliver the birthday cake to her room. I didn't happen until I went to the guests service at 5:45pm. You don't get any information upon arrival...just scan QR code. You have to scan it even if you file a complain. My husban got bitten by the bedbugs and we killed a big cockrouch. We were told they are coming from outside. I really hope this is not a new standard in Mexico. We won't be coming back to this property for sure.

Had a great stay at this resort! It was very clean, green, and cozy, the staff was friendly and the food was great. Would recommend staying here.

This was our third time staying at this resort. We love it. Very clean, great food, plenty restaurants to choose from. We recommend the night shows. The beach is awesome and clean. We will definitely go back.

This is not a five star nor four star resort. What a disappointment Expedia. It could be a 4 star resort if it was better cared for. The place needs a paint job, landscaping, and a modernized look. It’s so run down and its appearance is a real vacation buzz kill. The room was spacious but musty smelling. The swim up room, swam up to nothing and was too cold to use. We were on the quiet pool side which was low key. The other pool, the margarita pool, was the place where most of the daily entertainment occurred. Activities were hit or miss and not entirely at the fault of the staff. They tried to get people involved but most wanted to just watch and not participate. We only made it to one night time show, the Michael Jackson show, which was eh. We spent most nights sitting outside listening to the DJ hearing our son complain about the spotty WiFi. The spa was also disappointing. Nothing fancy. Best part was the hydrotherapy before the massage. Neither of the masseuses my husband and I had were good, likely neither were trained massage therapist. We were both more uncomfortable after the massages, so save you’re money. Food was better than the average all inclusive. Best meal was at the Grill but we didn’t get to try the Japanese restaurant or make it to Bloved. Restaurant reservations are difficult. They are done through a website and only available 3 days at a time. If you don’t book at midnight 3 days prior you’ll be closed out of everything. We won’t be returning.

The property is good, the room has a great size but miss some things, like hooks for towels , more privacy on the bathroom area.

We stayed in the Romance deluxe privileged suite. It was by far probably one of the most amazing/ beautiful rooms we will ever get to experience. The massive private pool that overlooked the beach was the cherry on top to an also massive room. The resort was very clean, comforting and relaxing. The staff had great customer service and very friendly and the bartenders were always happy to keep the drinks flowing. We stayed in late May, so the seaweed was beginning to show on the beach, however there were crew actively cleaning it up. 10/10 resort. We will definitely be back

Overall we had a good time but gave it 3 out of 5 due to a few issues: the room layout was a little odd with no doors between the bedroom, living and bathroom, the bathroom should have atleast had a door for privacy reasons, so it was a little awkward. The other issue was when showering the water would turn piping hot to cold every 1-2 minutes making it hard to showed, especially with little children.

The property is pretty and well manicured. It has good food options if you can get a reservation, although I feel like it has too many Asian restaurants. Everything is close and you can get to with a short walk. The service it’s really good and the people that work there for sure make your stay better. The bed that we had was very hard for our taste. Our room was comfortable and had a nice view. Overall we had a great time!

The whole entertainment team are Super. They are so energetic and fun. Creates the best vibes in the resort !! Lots of Restaurants options but were hard to book, most nights our dinner booking was after 8pm. House keeping could have been better, always had to ask for extra towels we had 3 people in the room and never enough towels. Very Disappointed on the Pay at Property amount I was charged. Booked thru Expedia and I have on my receipt Pay At Property CA$15.08 but when I got to the resort I was charged CA$50.48. ( very big difference on what I expected to pay in fees) Front desk was only to say Sorry and did not do anything at all to credit the charges on my credit card. Talk about false advertising, it say on the resort property details fees are MXN 31.12 per night no where does it mention per night & per person. Not impressed, Beware!!! All other resorts/hotels I have stayed at, the fees mentioned that I owe has always been what I needed to pay upon check in, not the case at Catalonia Grand Costa Mujeres Suites & Spa. They were not able nor willing to do anything other than push back to Expedia when they should fix the misleading error since it’s their resort fee. This has left a bad memory at this resort!!

The room was spacious and clean. However the food and drinks were not up to par. Tasteless and the drinks are watered down. We went with a group of family and friends half of us did get food poisoning. You are treated based on the color/status of your wristband. Make sure to book an either priveleged suite or become an exclusive member to enjoy the full experience and amenities of this resort.

Unreliable and Unprofessional - My Reservation Was Canceled Without Notice I’m extremely disappointed with my experience at this hotel. I booked my room well in advance and received confirmation, but when I arrived, I was told that my reservation was canceled without notifying me. No call. No email. Nothing. The front desk staff offered no real apology or solution. When I asked to speak to the hotel manager I was told that there was no manager on duty and only the front desk manager could help me. After an hour of stopping everyone who looked like they worked there the hotel manager appeared and offered me a less than desirable option which refused until they offered me something better. I chose this hotel based on location and decent past reviews, but clearly they have major issues with their booking system and customer service. I would not trust them again for any future stay. If you need reliability and basic courtesy, look elsewhere.

Resort was kept clean. Rooms were nice and spacious. Staff were friendly. Nice kids area and pool. If you call for room service they don’t come. We had an issue with our sink and they said they’d send someone right away but no one came. We called for more water and no one came. Buffet was ok, restaurant food was much better imo. We were actually there for a wedding and a lot of people got sick from food poisoning, including myself. Lots of mosquitoes. Far from airport.

The property is very nice and in great condition. The staff is also wonderful. We were privileged and we ate at the Beloved and Wendy & Miguel (manager) were the best and they made our vacation so enjoyable. They work very hard and always greet you with a smile. I would definitely come back to this resort again. We have also stayed at Catalonia Maroma which is also very nice but I do like this one better.

The room was great. The buffet did not have decaffeinated coffee, no whole milk at the coffee shop, we called for a blanket and never came. Customer service was lacking. Never staying at this place again.

Stay was great overall, food varieties were a plus! Wish the room service menu was a bit better in terms of options for families traveling with specials needs children wanting to stay away from crowds. They did try to promote a club membership which was promoted as a quick 90min breakfast and non pushy presentation. It ended up being a pushy 2.5 hour presentation in which you can tell how the manager got upset when we continued to kindly decline.

I liked how the property looked very clean and new. Pool was fun but water was a bit too warm. Encountered staff that was very nice and seem to care about their job and customer service but those sore thumbs stood out by doing the opposite. If I can remember her name, Leonarda, a manager from one of the restaurants during our stay was terrible. She was at the Ayami Japanese Teppenyaki restaurant. She was rude and would speak to waiters without any concern of customers being present. Would make hand gestures like cutting her throat meaning she wanted people out of the restaurant because it was nearing closing time. An employee at the entrance was very rude. We called front desk to have someone help us out with our luggage upon check out time and after waiting over 30 minutes we decided to just walk to the lobby. Note, it was at least a 7 minute walk and elevators were not working in our building. We were on the 3rd floor. Upon entering the lobby, an employee at the front door made their way and approached us offering to help us with our luggage when in all reality we were 20-30 steps from the front main door where our transportation would pick us up. I told him, "you should've helped us from our room to here, rather than just the last 20 steps." He answered rudely, "I don't read minds, you should've called for service." I answered, "I did call and waited over 30 minutes," he did not even apologize and just walked away. Terrible experience.

Check in took over an hour and a half. Toilet did not work correctly. Bags took 4 hours to be delivered to the room. Margarita pool smelled like sewage, around the food area. Room service took over 2 hours one time. Called to ask for more water and was never delivered. Overall service is lacking and the resort seems very unorganized. The only pro is that the food tastes good compared to other resorts.

Everything was amazing, friendly people, we felt safe. The area was very nice, easy to get to everything you wanted. The prices were good on items that I was shopping for! A great and exciting experience!! We enjoyed it.

Service was amazing, staff always smiley and ready to help. The property has good facilities, the rooms are big and everything is well maintained. The sea is a lovely blue but can be windy at times. You need a taxi to explore the surrounding areas but we used uber and it was relatively easy.

Really enjoyed our stay here. First time staying north of Cancun. Resort is well-maintained. Staff are excellent - helpful, very engaged and friendly. Food is above average for all-inclusive - lots of choices and reservations for the a la carte restaurants not too difficult to get. The resort is ideal for families of young children (we are a couple in our mid-50’s) so we found ourselves a bit short on same-age visitors. We enjoyed hanging out at the quieter pool and spent long days there. Evening entertainment was of a very good calibre (again for a resort). Highlight is this stretch of beach. One can walk in either direction for many km’s. Overall…a very good experience and would recommend.

Food was average-good, certainly made for the tourists’ palate. Beautiful beach. Lots of liquor if that’s your thing. No place to go off property. You are far removed from the city.

The stay was amazing. The room we picked was privileged and it gave us access to a separate dining room, beach beds and bars. The restaurant options were good, I wish there was more options for dinner. We loved the italian and the steakhouse. The spa was also amazing and we were gifted a free couple massage in our package. The hotel is very organized, staff is friendly and helpful at all the time. The room service is available 27/7 but I wish they had more options of food. The pool in our room was dirty and it had so much bugs and iguana poop. There’s iguanas everywhere so don’t be scared, we had one in our pool every day. Upon arrival we also got a bowl of fruits and champagne and chocolate. There’s bars everywhere too and the drinks are good! They serve you at the beach as well, and there’s like 2 bars and a juice bar which was really fresh and good. I recommend people looking for transportation because the hotel is 45 minutes from the airport, and they dont offer shuttle, but the uber is cheap and the hotel is very secure while letting people in or out. I would book this hotel again.

The property is very clean and staff is helpful. The beach area doesn’t have any umbrellas or shaded areas near the water they only have tarp shades and they’re kinda far from the beach the recliners nearest the beach offer no shade and it’s hard to get cocktails brought to you on the beach. It is secluded and atleast a 30 minute ride into Cancun hotel zone. The road at night is kind of scary and it’s hard to get Ubers if it’s late or if it’s been raining as the roads are still in construction to the area. The rooms were spacious and always clean. Pool areas were always clean and offered a lot of activities. Overall good time but definitely not for people looking to have a night life it is Family friendly.

First time my family and I stayed here. There was 15 of us. The property is 45 min from the airport and only 5 years old. Check in process was fairly quick. At time of check in you’re given a wrist band with digital room check attached.

I recently stayed here with my family. The resort is very new and has some great features. we really liked the modern, clean rooms and the pool area was lovely and well-maintained. However, there were several areas that need improvement. First, it's disappointing that they don't have music available for every ethnicity at the pool it takes away from the fun, lively atmosphere you'd expect on vacation. There were also no drink or water stations available consistently at all times, which was inconvenient, especially under the sun. My room tag stopped working multiple times, and despite going back and forth to reception, it was never resolved properly. While the staff is generally polite, many weren’t friendly or helpful, and a few were outright rude. Compared to other resorts we’ve stayed at other resorts in Mexico, the service here didn’t match up. The beach was also not very clean during our stay, and booking reservations for dinner was difficult the website wasn’t user-friendly and there was no on-site help available. Additionally, the location is quite far from most off-resort activities. If it's your first time at an all-inclusive in Mexico, you might enjoy it more. But for those who’ve experienced other resorts, you’ll likely notice the difference in service and amenities.

Catalonia Grand Costa Mujeres was an okay resort, but unfortunately, our family experienced food poisoning. Not sure if others have had similar issues.

Beautiful, drinks were terrible. We travel a lot and the drinks here were the worst ever. I believe it was the mixes and juices. Fake sugar taste mixed with cleaning products. Food was excellent

Everything was great except for the dinning situation. Make sure you are making your reservation for the next night by 8am sharp or you will be eating at the buffet the entire stay.

Resort was kept clean. Rooms were nice and spacious. Staff were friendly. Nice kids area and pool. If you call for room service they don’t come. We had an issue with our sink and they said they’d send someone right away but no one came. We called for more water and no one came. Buffet was ok, restaurant food was much better imo. We were actually there for a wedding and a lot of people got sick from food poisoning, including myself. Lots of mosquitoes. Far from airport.

The staff was great. Unfortunately me and my family of six were sick from food we consumed at the resort. It seemed to be a something that was happening to many people at the resort . We lost a full day trying to recover so we felt like we missed a lot.
