H3 Hotel Rotterdam City Center

The staff were very good but what i have an issue with is the location - for some reason the whole area had an all nigh party and this was not noted anywhere - we could not sleep at all and it was terrible.

Not sure where to start or what to write. Let's start with the positives. The location is close to the shops and transport links. My room was recently renovated, so the decor was decent and the bathroom was actually really nice. Air cooler machine helped during the night. Now, some negatives. Found a stain on my bedsheet/duvet cover. Too tired when I arrived to tell the staff, so whatever. The elevator is excruciatingly slow... Take the stairs. I couldn't close the top window and the noise from the streets woke me up, two nights running at around 3-4am. Can't do anything with noise when you book a hotel on the main drinking street in the city, but just to warn you. I just drank as much beer before bed to knock me out. Kinda helped for most the night. Sadly, the worst part was the check in. 3pm check in is ridiculous in these times and having been travelling since 2:30am and arriving extremely tired and sweaty at 9:30am, a hotel reception needs to welcome you better. I had a bag containing over €12,000 worth of camera equipment and being told to leave my bags in a wide open area, that is not manned 24 hours a day (I know, coz I walked in sometimes and no one was at the reception), kinda takes the p**s. Offer a lockable storage box, a managers office with only 1 access key (the managers) or just offer a nearby solution. I had to walk around for nearly an hour to find somewhere. Anyway, grumble over. It's a decent value hotel for a short stay. I say... it's average.

The hotel is ideally placed for access to the main attractions and is near to tram and Metro stations. The street is busy and there can be a lot of noise. Be aware of this as you may not get a good night’s sleep. The 50 Euro cash deposit is a little strange (I only had STG, which they accepted). There is a hotel cat called Bubbles who has his painting on the reception desk. I wasn’t lucky enough to meet him this time. Great value for money for such a central location. This is my second stay and I will stay again. It’s a perfect place if you are a parkrun Tourist and need a place to stay for a night or two. The beds are comfortable and the bathrooms are modern and of high quality. I thoroughly recommend.

Rotterdam was my first night of a fortnight-long Interrail trip in mainland Europe. The hotel was two stops on the metro from Rotterdam Centraal, or a tram trip. As I didn't want to spend any considerable time at the hotel I went for a cheap option. The room I booked had no window at all (I knew this). The hotel did not serve breakfast, but I was disappointed that the reception staff did not offer advice on where to have breakfast. In fact, there was a place opposite, but I only discovered after looking at other cafes on other streets.
