Had a lovely stay. Hotel is very modern and in beautiful surroundings. All staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms could do with a little hotel information, I.e menu for restaurant, info in sports bar (we just happened to find it when our roaming) but otherwise was amazing and highly recommend. Addition of an electric car charger was perfect for us and took the stress out if return journey being able to charge up on site. Will definitely stay again.

What a lovely hotel..perfect i every way. The only reason i put facilites as good was because ....if it had a swimming pool it would be 1st class..that said not everyone whats to go swimming! According to my husband the golf course was excellent...as was the sport bar food..best beef sandwich i've had !

Really good hotel .Bedroom was very quiet , comfortable and modern with everything you need including fresh milk in the fridge. Evening meal and breakfast in Tykes restaurant was very good , but could do with a covered walkway to get there from the main hotel. A pool and spa is all this place is missing, but still a great place to stay at.

My husband and I used the hotel as a base to explore the area. It was perfect. The building is immaculate. The welcome at reception was warm and very helpful. All of the staff we spoke to were friendly, seemed happy and were very accommodating. The food in Tykes was very good. Fresh milk in the fridge in the room - perfect. Easy parking in a large car park. Absolutely lovely place to stay and we hope to again.

OMG what a find. Have never stayed here before but was so happy we did. What a wonderful place to stay. The staff were so friendly, the room was perfect and air conditioning was a bonus. In the evening we sat and watched the geese come in to land for the night and in the morning we watched a heron having his breakfast. Speaking of breakfast it was to die for - if I won the lottery I would live there. Highly recommend - oh and the parking is free!

Absolutely beautiful hotel! Felt like I was in Canada with the lovely lodge feel. Bright, modern, spotlessly clean. Lovely brekafast. Just wished I lived closer (I’m 4.5hrs away) so I could go there more and that I’d booked a longer stay this time. Can’t say a bad word about it.

Really enjoyed our stay. Friendly staff, very comfy bed, good powerful shower and excellent breakfast. Really liked the fresh milk in the mini bar for making tea/coffee. The only reason for not giving a full 5 stars was that the basin did not drain very well and there were a couple of areas in the room that were not 100% clean.

This is the third time I have stayed at the Sandburn Hall and I’m glad to stay that it’s still a fantastic hotel and I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in the York area. The hotel is spotless clean and the staff are friendly and very welcoming and nothing is any issue for them. The bedroom was cleaned daily and simply can’t be faulted

Lovely well appointed room with a private patio from which there was a very nice view of the lake. Our room was quiet at night. Excellent service in Tykes, the restaurant. Genuinely couldn't find a fault.

Great location, lovely room, wonderful amenities, beautifully clean and tidy, tasty food with huge portions, good WiFi, brilliant bathroom with deep bath and separate rainfall shower. My only gripe is the light ingress from the brightly lit area behind the premium rooms, which affected my sleep. Just dim the lights after, say, midnight or provide a curtain pelmet to block the light. If this were done I’d have to rate it as a favourite hotel.

We enjoyed our 4 night stay hotel was very modern and the facilities and staff were attentive. However on our last night we had a broken night due to a wedding party who were noisy and vulgar adjacent to our room. We had to complain about the noise which went on to 3.30am. We were given a refund for our last night but always check if a wedding party is staying as there is a risk as in our case of a noisy crowd ruining what was a lovely stay.

Everything was outstanding. We loved our stay. The hotel and restaurant were decorated beautifully for Christmas, which made it even more special. Dinner in the restaurant was delicious and reasonably priced, breakfast was also plentiful and of good quality. All the staff from reception, bar and restaurant were friendly, professional and courteous. We would definitely stay here again.

Dinner in the restaurant was delicious and reasonably priced, breakfast was also plentiful and of good quality. From the approach leading up to the stunning facade of this hotel to the minute we left nothing was left to chance. The staff at reception were so friendly, we were taken to our room rather than just given our key and everything explained to us. The grounds are beautiful and we were given a map with a choice of walks to explore. We had dinner in Tykes restaurant which is a beautiful oak beamed converted barn. My pork was so tender I could have eaten it with a spoon. Partner had chicken which was gluten free and equally delicious. Breakfast Wes served in Tykes again and all gluten free options clearly marked and explained. We don’t do golf but it was interesting to watch others on the golf course. I expressed an interest in the little oil lamps dotted around at reception and the staff immediately made it their mission to find out where I might purchase a similar one. All in all a fabulous place to stay, 4 miles outside York. Thank you the staff of Sandburn Hall for making our stay in this sumptuous hotel so fabulous.

A fabulous experience from start to finish. The staff were friendly, helpful and very welcoming. Our room was a good size, lean and comfortable. The bathroom was equally a good size, very clean. We attended the New Years Eve dinner and disco which was good value for money. Again the staff were friendly. Food was very good as was the entertainment. Breakfast was equally as good with a wide selection at the buffet. A brilliant stay and we look forward to coming back.

We’ve recently enjoyed a 2 night stay. Beautiful oak framed hotel, with a comfortable room and en-suite of dreams. We were greeted by Ellie on reception, and shown to our room. Buffet breakfast in Tykes Restaurant was plentiful and offered continental and hot options. However steak night at Tykes was a little disappointing. The steaks were overcooked, the triple cooked chips were not crispy and the side of mushrooms were cold. This was addressed appropriately at the time with restaurant staff but it was disappointing given the restaurant was not busy and if you offer steak the chef should know how to cook it correctly.

Modern, fresh, well maintained hotel. Clean, quiet, spacious rooms with plenty of charging stations and outlets. Super nice bath with massive soaking tub. Excellent on-site restaurant. What is most noteworthy is the very professional, well trained and delightful staff in both the hotel and the restaurant! Would stay at Sandburn Hall again and would recommend it to a friend.

The hotel which has a function hall for weddings, parties etc is in the middle of no where, but very beautiful surroundings, well maintained facilities. The rooms are spacious and well equipped, the staffs are friendly, polite and willing to serve.

Wonderful stay On the outskirts of York - brilliant to escape the visit, 10min drive to park & ride into the city. Cocktails delicious! Fantastic hotel breakfast. Can not fault.

We love this hotel, the location and the rooms are stunning!! From the minute you walk into the amazing reception area it’s just a pleasure to be there. My fiancé is funny about the comfort of beds and she loves the beds and pillows here!! The breakfast is one of the best we’ve had and we travel a lot. The quality of the food is outstanding and the variety of the cold and hot food is excellent!! The walks around the grounds and surrounding area are something everybody should look out for enjoy a nice walk whilst staying. We look forward to returning again!

Hotel is stunning. York suite is absolutely beautiful and it’s huge. Everything was first class and can’t wait to go back again. Nothing was too much trouble and they catered for my gluten free diet excellently.

Everything was outstanding. We loved our stay. The hotel and restaurant were decorated beautifully for Christmas, which made it even more special. Dinner in the restaurant was delicious and reasonably priced, breakfast was also plentiful and of good quality. All the staff from reception, bar and restaurant were friendly, professional and courteous. We would definitely stay here again.

My husband and I used the hotel as a base to explore the area. It was perfect. The building is immaculate. The welcome at reception was warm and very helpful. All of the staff we spoke to were friendly, seemed happy and were very accommodating. The food in Tykes was very good. Fresh milk in the fridge in the room - perfect. Easy parking in a large car park. Absolutely lovely place to stay and we hope to again.

Nice hotel, clean and friendly staff. Comfortable beds, amazing shower. Breakfast was nice, however i would avoid the restaurant for dinner. Over priced, charged me £10 for 2 fish cakes that were the size of golf balls and food was tasteless.

The room was very nice, Its a shame I was only there for one night. Breakfast could have had a bit more variety but was sufficient for me. A very pleasant experience and stay. I did dine at the attached restaurant for my evening meal but found it rather expensive.

We’ve recently enjoyed a 2 night stay. Beautiful oak framed hotel, with a comfortable room and en-suite of dreams. We were greeted by Ellie on reception, and shown to our room. Buffet breakfast in Tykes Restaurant was plentiful and offered continental and hot options. However steak night at Tykes was a little disappointing. The steaks were overcooked, the triple cooked chips were not crispy and the side of mushrooms were cold. This is a must place to stay. It’s so beautiful, very well looked after . A very relaxing place to stay. The staff were extremely helpful and the room was so spacious, clean and the decor was on point! Will definitely be staying here next time we visit York.

Lovely stay at this hotel - nice room and good food. Unable to give it five stars as there were only two electric chargers and they were both in use overnight so we were unable to charge our car - thankfully it is a hybrid. Would suggest with the increasing number of electric cars that more chargers are required.
