Not much staff, some restaurants and the swim-up bar were closed.

You definitely want to stay on property for the entire stay. The staff and accommodations are great! The only issue was the closure of restaurants due to renovations and events.

As others have said, the property is not new, but the up keep is very good. There was a lot of construction going on, while this is good, there was more noise than normal but not too bad. The main disappointment was the food. While there was an abundance, the quality in the restaurants was at best middle of the road. We had about the worst experience ever one night, the staff responded well and tried to make things right, actually over compensating. The restaurants were not all open and the private excellence club restaurant was never open. Loved the resort and the beach, but the food would limit another visit. If that’s not your thing or you don’t care, the drinks are plentiful, the views are amazing, the resort is relaxing, the spa was fabulous….

Room and service was great. Facilites outdated. But the Gym. Great place Food in general bad!! And cold. I spoke with managers they blamed the change in menu Only the French place served something warm.

Pool was amazing , could us more float mats for guest to enjoy lounging in the water

Absolutely stunning resort. This is a true luxury resort. It is quiet and relaxing, not a party resort. The food is incredible. The gym is great. Pilates and yoga classes are available which is amazing. Beautiful running routes which includes a nature park full of birds. The pools are beautiful. I wish they had more craft cocktails but otherwise everything at this resort is top tier.

The resort runs parallel to the ocean with a lazy river type pool in between. There is a breeze and a view from everywhere. The resort and the pool are so spread out that it’s never crowded or noisy. There are options to be at the beach, at the fun and active end of the pool or the quiet, walk in end of the pool. The layout and plantings are just beautiful. The staff coming around the pool with food and drink offerings are fantastic. Second visit here after trying another resort and returning. Will return next year as well. Thank you.

A great romantic place, with wonderful staff and services. We went on our honeymoon as a relaxing getaway. Even on the rainy days (we came during hurricane melissa passing by) we still had a great time just exploring and taking in the beautiful surroundings. The sunny days we spent a lot of time just sitting on the beach! Most days you couldn't swim due to rough water, but even then you were able to walk along the water and the beach was shallow enough you could safely get in the water a little bit. The room was good, the bed was comfy and the bathroom was large and made it very easy to shower throughout the day going from beach to restaurants and excursions. The restaurants were pretty good, especially chez isabelle which was a great experience. The night entertainment was hit or miss but we did enjoy the options a lot. We especially liked the Michael Jackson impersonator, the circus show, and also many of the bands were great to just listen to and sip a drink. The bars were great my wife loved the bars and she was very happy with the drinks especially the martinis and coco locos. The atmosphere was just great, it felt truly tropical and the architecture and buildings felt like you were living in splendor for your time there. No kids which added to the peaceful atmosphere. There was some drunken rowdiness from some other guests, but generally people were very respectful, quiet, and it was a peaceful environment especially by the beach.

Overall it’s a good and relaxing experience, but the service is sometimes not the most professional: the room service is usually slow and some ordered items are missed upon delivery. When I check in, there’s also left over plate from the last customer.

Great vacation. the resort was very nice, clean, very well cared for. rooms were clean, fresh rowels daily. Good, clean pools. Plenty of chairs and beds around the pools and on the beach. the beach was very well cared for, clean. Food was great. Our favorite restaurant was the lobster house and the grill. The French restaurant was also great. The buffe had a very good selection of good food. The grill had great stakes, the lobster night is excellent. We enjoyed the Dominican night also. Staff was pleasant, no shortage of smiles. They are very caring, trying to make your stay the best possible. Would like to recommend this resort to anyone wanting a good relaxing vacation.

Overall had a nice stay here. Staff was very friendly, it was quiet and relaxing, and the property was clean and up kept well. I’m not a big all-inclusive person but needed a relaxing break without having to think and this was a good resort to do so. I also felt safe in the resort which was very nice since I was solo and didn’t feel completely awkward as it was very couples heavy. Cons: - I didn’t like the constant push for reviews and feedback right there on the spot from the staff and from the vendors pushing for excursions and photos with animals on the beach - The food was mediocre as well as alcohol choices (I understand it’s an AI resort but oof) - Service was inconsistent at the restaurants depending on who served you. At one of the lunch spots, the hostess ignored me until someone mentioned to her I was waiting - Housekeeping was also inconsistent - one day my room didn’t seem fully cleaned as there were still dishes from room service in the cupboard from the night before - Pool was a bit colder than anticipated but otherwise it was lovely

This resort was beautiful and the beach was fun since the waves were coming fast. But, I would say that I did not have the best experience since there was a cockroach in the room and my partner hates them so we had to move rooms. Also, the room we got moved too had something wrong with the bed idk if it was dust or what. My right eye was literally shut and my partner got a rash. But, the service was amazing in the hotel, they gave us free hydrotherapy in the spa because of the roach and the service in the bar and everywhere was very nice. If it wasn’t for the roach or the bed situation I would give this resort a 10/10. But then again not all experiences are the same so this doesn’t mean that it will happen to you. Oh, food was amazing too

Outstanding service and very well kept grounds.

Upon entering Excellence Punta Cana, we were greeted by a receptionist that provide us a cold towel, while taking our bags, and directing us to the front desk. The view of the the ocean was visible, at this point, and it was incredible! After checking in with the hotel receptionist, we were immediately upgraded from a garden view location to a private pool location view, at no additional charge. We were only asked to rate the reception at a secure Excellence website. Needless to say, the receptionist was very helpful and provided us a great deal of information. The service at this hotel was amazing. The food was spectacular, and everyone that worked at the hotel, we had interactions with, were very friendly, helpful, and a pleasure to be around. The housekeeping staff dud an incredible job and they were always done by the time we returned in the afternoon, before leaving again. We have been to Punta Cana, on several occasions, for vacation and stayed at many different resorts. This, by far, was the most comfortable, enjoyable, relaxing, and beautiful! The entertainment provided at night was also quite spectacular. Finally, the views of the ocean from the situated shaded seating/resting areas were almost unreal. He would highly recommend my excellence experience to anyone. I know I will be returning there again soon.

Based on the reviews and price of this resort, we were underwhelmed. We paid more than we usually do hoping for an elevated experience. The pools were nice and the staff was great. Everything else was disappointing. The food was no better or worse than any other AI resort, but so inconsistent. You could order the identical meal twice and get two totally different meals. The room was so bland. Felt like a holiday inn. Nothing fancy at all about them. We had to beg for towels. Our friends who traveled with us got treats in their room every day (and didn’t tip daily). We tipped daily and got nothing. The resort itself was bland. Nothing fancy at all. We paid extra for Excellence Club - all it got us was the ability to eat at Magna, which was our least favorite restaurant and the use of club pools and beach area, which were less appealing than the main pools and beach area. And, in 11 days, not one staff member asked us if we were club members while we were in club areas (there are no bracelets distinguishing club members from non) so anyone could go anywhere. The ocean is basically unswimmable - red flags most of the time. And we were eaten alive by insects at the beach and outdoor restaurants. Even with bug spray. While we were there, they took down every beautiful, natural palapa and replaced them with plastic, cheap looking Temu versions. We were very disappointed and do not recommend this resort.

We stayed in the Excellence Club side of this resort. The club gives you a separate side to the resort with two club-only pools, hot tubs, beach, dining room, and very attentive service from the staff. We stayed in Building 1 junior suite with its own private pool facing the beachfront club pool. We only used our own pool a couple of times since the club pool was literally right there. Housekeeping came twice daily and restocked whatever you used. The room was always damp but we learned too late that you can ask for a dehumidifier. There was a jetted tub in the room that we never used. The food reminded us of what you get on a small cruise ship. The main dining was the same buffet every day. It was just okay. All specialty restaurants are included without having to make reservations except for the hibachi "show" which was underwhelming. The club-only restaurant was good. We visited the cafe frequently for lattes and the occasional pastry. Be sure to check the dress code before you pack. The property is beautiful. The design of the property is well planned and easy to walk. Guests were pleasant and respectful to each other and the staff. Entertainment was like a small cruise ship. Bring your small bills for tips. Its proper to tip for every meal, when you get drinks or even order at the cafe counter. Shopping is minimal for souvenirs. A 10 minute Uber will give you to more options. Definitely use Seasons for your airport transfer. A+ service. Very relaxing and enjoyable st

Upon check in, the room had very poor air conditioning. The humidity was awful. We complained several times. After several hours, staff finally conceded that there was an issue. They brought a fan and de-humidifier. It did help but was not a fix. We were eventually moved the next day. Staff gave us a couples massage for trouble. The rest of time here was pretty good. Staff was very attentive! Pools were fantastic. We would return and try again!

This resort is extremely beautiful- such a relaxing place to spend a few days and just unwind. The food is great at all the restaurants. The rooms are nice and upgraded. Staff is all very friendly. I would definitely get the excellence club rooms if possible. They come with nice benefits such as private beach and even a private restaurant. If I had to say one thing I found negative, I’d say it was the people with the animals (monkey, lizard, parrots) who come and bother you when you’re trying to lay out on the beach. This may not be the resort’s fault per se, but it was frustrating that every day some person came up to pester me about taking pictures with animals (one day the guy actually put the lizard on my leg and wouldn’t remove it until I got kinda nasty with him) When we are enjoying the beach, the last thing we want is someone coming up and putting animals on us or trying to get us to pay for pictures.

There was a leak that kept dripping on my face right over the bed from the air vent. Had to put tissues in the vent to trap the drips. Extremely slippery surface by the pool and I fell. They did offer me a room upgrade my next visit, I declined.

However most people don’t go to the Caribbean for pools, they go to be able to see and swim in its beautiful warm waters. From the first day we arrived there we were not able to go into the water as there was a red flag meaning not safe to swim. We told this was because there was a storm out to sea that was making it very rough. Well the red flag never came down and no one was able to swim in the ocean the whole time we were there. This was a big disappointment because that’s one of the main reasons we went there. In hind sight it is my fault because I should’ve researched it better when making the reservation. This hotel is the most northern hotel and the last hotel in a chain of several hotels on the coast. Because of where it is located the only time you can swim there is very limited through out the year. I have been to a few other hotels along that coast and never saw a red flag and was always able to swim in the ocean at those places. I feel the fact that you can’t swim in the ocean there because of how rough the surf is there should be disclosed on all advertisements for this hotel and it’s not. Plain and simple you can’t swim in the ocean there. If I had known that I would not have stayed there. That said the resort is very nice and the staff seem to go out of their way to serve you. For this reason I would rate this hotel as a 3-4 star place.

Staff were great. Suite had old damaged items. Suite next door played loud music. Private pool had white paint and dirt leaking from the roof during rain. Did not feel it was worth the money.

We enjoyed the food and service and all the pool options. We were disappointed with the room. The humidity required an dehumidifier. The condition of the room was fair with broken counters in the bathroom and a musty smell in the room that didnt go away.

Despite its luxurious appearance, this hotel delivered a consistently disappointing experience that failed to meet even basic expectations for a 5-star property. From the start, service was a major issue. Staff were inattentive and seemed uninterested in guest satisfaction. Room service took nearly two hours each time, and when it did arrive, the food was cold, incorrect, and delivered by unfriendly servers. There was no effort to apologize or correct the mistakes, and basic hospitality felt like an afterthought. Housekeeping threw away my personal medication during cleaning—an alarming and unacceptable mistake that could have had serious consequences. On top of that, the room was not properly maintained. No bottled water was provided, and the minibar/fridge was never restocked during the stay. These are not just minor inconveniences—they are fundamental failures in guest care. This hotel might look the part, but it completely lacks the attentive service, reliability, and professionalism that a true 5-star experience demands. I cannot recommend this property and would strongly caution others expecting quality and care.

We stayed at the Excellence Punta Cana for 5 days. On the second day, the room safe was broken into and money was stolen. The property management did nothing to solve the problem. I requested for the police to get involved but they said they would handle it. At the end of our stay, all they said was that the mater was still being investigated. Aaron Lozano, general manager, never addressed the issue with us personally and Esperanza Alcantara, guest services manger send other employees to talk to us when we requested on update on the situation. We are extremely unsatisfied with our stay at this resort and we alert anyone to stay clear of the Excellence Resort. PS. The beach at this resort is not swimmable as it’s too rough and they always a red flag.The lifeguards DO NOT ALLOW anyone to swim in it. The liquor offer as the all inclusive is bottom shelve liquor and the food is mediocre.

From the moment you step foot on the property you realize you are in a special place. The open air lobby provides the perfect tropical vibe. It is stunning! We really appreciated the efforts of Hendrix at the Excellence club pool. He could not have been nicer and more helpful. Also a shout out to the bartender Soriano at the Palms bar as well as Luis and Carlos at the Magna bar.

We absolutely loved our stay. The staff makes "Excellence, Excellent. I truly hope the Owners/Franchise/CEO takes care of the individuals who work for them, without them it wouldn't be what it is. Although everyone was AMAZING a few names stood out to us Beni, Jonathan, Edwin (Servers) Neicy (Host) & Jesus & Hector Front desk. All of them made our trip feel so special & truly "Thank" them for that. We loved all the food/restaurants this resort had to offer. Spice was our favorite! 10/10 recommend them all though as every single one is delicious. Shows in the evening were spectacular. Our room was clean, bed was comfy, house keeping was so kind and AMAZING. The only thing that broke my heart was seeing others on vacation not tip. If you can't afford to leave a few dollars after these kind souls waited on you and took care of you their entire night then stay home and go work for free on your own time. I understand It's an all inclusive resort & tipping isn't mandatory, but come on now. Some people just suck, but not all of us. 😊 I appreciated every soul & every smile. Beautiful pool very clean. The food options were good. The beach is not really swimmable It’s dangerous rip currents/waves red flag so just know that if you’re someone who likes to swim in the ocean past your knees, this probably wouldn’t be the place but it’s gorgeous to sit in a chase lounge on the beach and have unlimited drinks The night entertainment was fun too. overall it was a great experience. I would definitely come back.

Quite but longvdrive from the airport. Excellent for relaxation.

The room, the pool, and the unlimited drinks was the best part of the hotel. The food is honestly horrible, every restaurant. The staff is very friendly and nice. They ask you where you’re going every time you exit the hotel which is very annoying and the hotel is the farthest from all the nearby hotel. I would come back but I look forward to visiting different hotels in Punta Cana

We loved everything about our stay. The property was beautiful, quiet, and clean. The staff was very good. The ONLY disappointment was the red flag being up every day. We couldn’t swim in the ocean. Other than that, it was wonderful. Multiple pools.

The drive to the resort is a little long but was expected prior to arriving. It was nice to see a little part of the Dominican culture and way of living on the drive there. The resort itself is absolutely beautiful and the staff is nothing short of amazing! Every employee treated us with respect, made us smile, and did anything possible to make our stay more enjoyable. The only small complaint we had was a slightly limited menu where we found ourselves eating the same thing multiple times but all food that we did have was amazing!! Would recommend to others and can’t wait to go back!

The property was immaculate. The staff worked tirelessly to maintain the grounds and the landscaping, sometimes to our entertainment. Everyone was as nice as can be. It was unfortunate the waters were rough during our stay, but that is no one's fault. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Very Relaxing atmosphere, adults only, so no kids running around, off season, so not too crowded. Staff was outstanding in accommodating you., I’ve stayed in Punta Cana before, (at least 8 times) … this was on of the best for relaxation. Other resorts offer more to do., but for rest and relaxation Excellence Punta Cana is where to go.

Resort was very clean, staff was great. Not much in amenities although they do give you 3 bottles. Food was disappointing especially in the buffet . The club restaurant was a big disappointment. It should of been the best restaurant but fell short. The waitress we had was not the best and go figure we got her two times! Although we were told they have to speak English if they worked in the restaurant on e she found out my husband spoke Spanish she refused to speak to me in English. It put a damper on the whole experience. Bell hopes an like Michael we're great so was the maid service. Thank you Bernie for the poker games from entertainment.
