Not a Hyatt quality property. Needs massive updating since it was acquired from Thompson. All the tile in the Downtown House elevators was cracked and broken, just distressed and unsafe. JuanJo, Alex and Javy were really nice, awesome dudes. The resort fee is a joke, $34 a day and you get two bottles of water per day (go across to the Oxford and buy the same water for 30 pesos), but other than Sunday, there was no entertainment, no DJ (again DJ’s were suppose to be on Friday, Saturday and Sunday). The pool doesn’t close which is nice for a late swim, but this is a 5/10 property.

No me gustó el hecho de que te hagan retención de $6000 xq de hecho se paga por adelantado el hotel y solo fue una sola noche,también no tienen un estacionamiento y te mandan con un valet parking que te cobra $400 porllevar tu coche a guardar aún estacionamiento público donde te cobran $80 la noche del carro.

La chambre est très spacieuse et le roof-top avec sa piscine est très agréable. Le personnel de l’accueil et de l’entretien des chambres est compétent et agréable. Points négatifs : - le petit-déjeuner est rationné et le service est pitoyable : tantôt il y a un buffet (1 seule fois en une semaine), tantôt les plats sont différents et il ne faut surtout pas être pressé : service à 2 à l’heure (sauf quand le manager est là ! - très sympa et avenant d’ailleurs). Au bout de plusieurs jours, ne comptez pas que les serveurs se souviennent du numéro de votre chambre. - pas d’isolation phonique depuis les chambres vers le couloir. Pour un hôtel de ce niveau c’est dommage. Hôtel très bien placé pour autant. Attention : pas de parking à l’hôtel mais un parking public surveillé et partenaire à 1 bloc.

This property is right downtown - and is loud at night due to the nightclubs. Music at the pool doesn’t appeal to Americans (local music) and is very loud-had to leave the pool one day and didn’t not return other days. Also they allow smoking at the pool. The plumbing system is poor - toilets not very operational. Nice staff.

Beautiful property and excellent location. Staff were wonderful! Only thing keeping this from being a perfect hotel was that it was badly in need of maintenance. Pool was missing tiles, only had 3 umbrellas and most of the chairs needed replacing. For a Hyatt, they have enough money to invest to keep this amazing property looking great! The rooms were in better condition than the rooftop and pool but needed more pillows. Still highly recommend staying here but Hyatt must invest in maintenance!!!

Hyatt recently rebranded this property in December of 2024, so those returning to PDC might remember this as the Thompson. If you reserve the downtown location, it is literally in the middle of everything. The beach house is about 2 blocks away. Regardless of which property you reserve, you have access to both. The beach house is right on the beach. Both locations have pools and restaurants. The downtown location is adults only. The pool at the downtown location is stunning. It's an infinity pool that runs the length of the hotel, has a swim-up bar, and plenty of loungers/seating and cabana type rooms. The pool at the beach house is smaller, but also has loungers and cabanas. The staff at both locations are simply amazing and attentive. If you look closely, the downtown location does need a little maintenance and upkeep, but that is likely on its way with the rebranding. Regardless, I had not known about this property before and I will definitely be back. It's the best of both worlds being able to get a downtown vibe and beach house all at the same time.

The hotel is in a good location. The rooftop pool has a great view. I paid a high resort fee, but I still couldn't enjoy my time at the pool. The pool was so dirty because the non-hotel guests, the daytime guests, threw cigarettes and alcohol into the water. It was so disappointing.

The staff were INCREDIBLE, really friendly, knowledgeable and went the extra mile to make us feel welcome. Hotel room had minor issues - our balcony facing works, no slippers / robes until we asked for them, and all room amenities (eg mugs, glasses etc) only set up for two instead of three people until we had to call up for them. Great pool that’s open 24 hours a day and we can use the beach facilities of the other Hyatt 5min walk away. I would absolutely stay here again

Close to everything yes, horrible location though because the street is really dirty, smells really bad, the noise from nightclubs it is worse than expected. The hotel provides ear plugs but it does not really help. The room also smells really bad, and towels smell even worse like they are not even washed. Maybe is the water or that they are really old.

The property is perfectly located off 5th and conveniently located within walking distance to almost anywhere you want to go. The staff is amazing, Alfie at the front desk was polite, informative, and always pleasant. My room was spotless, well maintained daily, and very comfortable linens and bed. Only minor inconvenience was when I was first trying to locate the hotel on foot, google maps wants to send you to the downtown house and not the beach house, so I walked around until I found someone who was able to give me better directions. Definitely will stay there the next time I’m in Playa!

The room they gave us was right in front of a bunch of bars and hookah joints blasting music until 3AM. It was like the party was happening in our own room! No soundproofing at all, and it was so loud we couldn't sleep a wink. I'm usually cool with late-night shenanigans, but this was a Monday night and we couldn't even get some rest.

Having stayed at this property 8 years ago during which time it was called the Thompson, it has declined somewhat and its starting to look and feel dated and a little tired considering its high cost. We loved its central location, hence why we returned and this time we stayed in the best suite, which was very spacious and comfortable but a little noisy, understandably due to its location. Fun experience

Room never cooled to AC setting. Refreshment center was never checked the whole time we were there. Jacuzzi tub on balcony does not work. Stayed here many times and this was by far the worst experience yet.

The hotel is nice, really liked the location. Clean rooms, no water pressure issues or anything. What really put this over the top for us was the staff. They were absolutely fantastic. Had a rough day at the airport getting there and they upgraded our room to help make our stay a little better. Pablo at the front helped us with bags and recommendations, and had such an infectiously cheerful demeanor. He was wonderful. Staff at the bar were right on queue along with the desk and Pablo. Fantastic restaurant recommendations and great conversations with all of them. Upon leaving the other concierge let us know our transportation was at the corner and wheeled out our bags a couple of blocks to the airport transfer. I’ve never encountered such a wonderful staff. Would stay here anytime and not think twice. Also El Fagon and Doctorcito were a couple of those restaurants that were recommended and they were incredible and inexpensive.

Although The hotel and Rooms were Beautiful, wait staff were very friendly and attentive Unfortunately front desk staff could be friendlier and more helpful . A couple front staff we found rude. And Not helpful at all Waited 40 minutes because we wanted to upgrade our rooms which didn’t end up happening The Front desk staff needs a pep talk about customer service Other than that we enjoyed the Hotel overall

Staff were very hospitable and helpful. They go above and beyond to make to feel welcome and taking care of all my needs. Specifically Soraya at the front desk. My shuttle did not show up, she helped try to call the company, called the sister hotel in case the shuttle showed up there, and helped me get a taxi to the airport. Highly recommend!

The sullen greeting from check-in was only made worse by the ineptitude of the front desk staff, who couldn’t turn two separate reservations into one cohesive stay…my key didn’t work the second day, and they turned the AC off, because their system didn’t see I was in the room for another night - the roof too pool staff never once came over to offer help or a drink menu or food - I feel violated and ripped off - do better Since you carry the Hyatt cache - thanks for ruining my time with you

Soraya and Pablo went above and beyond to helo my daughter and i with a safe check out. The staff treated ua like family and helped ua wirh a transport mix up. I was in distress becausey tranaport was unsure of when to pick up. Soraya called the transport company and she made sure we made our ride in time. Pablo rode his bike tonour pixk dedrimation to tell is about a mix up. They truly do care for customers and it shows. Thank you so much

Well run hotel. Excellent staff. Be prepared for noisy nights as you are close to all of the night clubs. They are hopping until 3 AM every night. Not a place for a quiet night. Otherwise they were a real pleasure.

People that work at both adult only building on 5th Ave and at the Beach House are very helpful and accommodating. There was a miscommunication when I booked via Expedia, and my daughter and I found ourselves at the adult only building, arriving late at night. Staff were able to send us to the family building right away. Food is great at adult only building (we had a late supper upon arrival, very yummy). At the Beach House: breakfast is amazing, dinner did not impress - too fancy and different. Very big, clean, modern rooms. Lots of bottled water provided, excellent bathrooms. It can be noisy until about midnight as surrounding hotels party, but that's true for every hotel close to 5th avenue. Hotel beach is small but nice, and we walked a couple of minutes to public beach nearby, where entrance to the water is more even, with fewer rocks. Loved our stay!

Excelente localização. Quarto amplo. Atendimento e educação dos funcionários foi impecável. Café da manhã não vale a pena. Nos cobraram 10 dólares por 1 ovo adicional. Não possui estacionamento. O banheiro possui uma porta de vidro, tirando total a privacidade.

Excellent location, right at Quinta avenida where all the clubs and great restaurants are, also walking distance of the beach. The breakfast was amazing and pool on the terrace also great. Room was spacious, bathroom and shower super luxurious and the bed really comfortable. We also booked the shuttle service from the airport, which was Excellent, we were a big group and the attention Luis gave us was top tier, with beverages and everything. The main issue we had is the air conditioning was a mess the whole time, which made the room super hot and humid or incredibly cold at night i came back sick. Also check-in was more than an hour wait, extremely inefficient for no more than 6 guests in line.

Excellent location for exploring 5th avenue. Near enough to xcaret parks and great beach side view. Gym was only available at other property but much better than other reviewers made it seem (located on the second floor with a partial view of 5th. This building itself has a lot of quirks. The lighting strategy for our room was unintuitive and there was initially an issue with heating the balcony pool. Breakfast was good but could use more variety. İf you're the kind of person that appreciates when the design of a property itself seems to have anticipated your every need, this place isn't for you. If you want a place to sleep with a great view, amazing location, and helpful staff, this is a good choice.

Centrally located at the heart of 5th Avenue. Also, property is on excellent condition, well kept. Staff and housekeeping were very helpful. The hotel provides an elevated view of the beach in comparison to other buildings in the location.
