Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun - Adults only

We travel to the Cancun area often and love Secrets. This was our favorite property in the Cancun area so far. Everything was beautiful and well cared for, the food was excellent, the staff was so attentive, and they had the best gym I have ever seen in a resort. There were extra touches that made our stay special like music outside on the breakfast patio and the restaurants accommodated special orders. They go above and beyond to make your stay special!

The spa was very nice. I feel it’s a bit overpriced compared the similar spas. I included a photo of our ocean view. Any view of the ocean is perfect in my opinion. The staff is amazing and very attentive to your needs.

Smaller and easily walkable adults-only hotel with excellent service and dining options, a lovely beach. It never felt crowded, we never had to wait long, if at all, to get into restaurants. Rooms were very clean and well equipped, and the while property felt well looked after. The service was probably one of the best.

Beautiful facility. Attentive service. Completely avoid any presentations for “freebies.” Almost an entire day was lost in the hotels’ attempt to sell a loyalty program. The only way to access the lobby is via a large set of uncovered stairs. This could be an issue in the extreme heat or in the rain. Great swim up bar. Arrive early or you’ll have no spot…or rent a cabana.

Great Infinitypool

The property itself was undergoing some construction but my husband I were able to look past this due to how lovely the entire staff was. Always going above and beyond trying to assist us and make our trip a memorable one. The food was great at every restaurant and the beach was also very well kept.

This is a fantastic resort and our 5th year visiting. We still consider one of the best resorts, however we have to call out excessive "upgrades" that we are constantly encountering over the past few years. Confronted not only with $100 mediocre bottles of wine at dinner, but $250-$500 dinner upgrades just to see a christmas show. The biggest change is tightening of regular (not preferred club) beach area and installing "bali beds" in the front and charging $60-100 per day. These are obstructing any kind of a view for anyone else. I understand why they are doing this, however we expect more from a resort of this caliber. I would ask everyone to not pay for these "bali beds" in the front row - if no one pays, they won't have them. It pains us to leave such a critical review, because the staff is so nice, but we find all of the above is a bit egregious.

We had an ocean front VIP room on the 2nd floor. We have traveled many resorts. The reviews rave about the beach, food and employees. We agree 100%. My husband rarely voices a strong opinion, but shares we will definitely be back. From the arrival, VIP check in, to our concierge, Marcelo Lagunes. (No suprise he won an employee award when we were there). Worth every penny we spent for this trip. I recommend going if you want an amazing time. Drink service was always available at the pool and beach. All ages at the resort. Everyone very respectful, having a great time. Will definitely play the mini golf next time. The emplotees were great at making people feel welcome to.play beach volleyball, go on the kayaks. (With no pressure) Pool games section, without disturbthe relaxing areas. I can hardly wait to book again.

The service was outstanding, grounds were immaculate, the food and drinks were overflowing. This place is top tier!

We had an amazing week at Secrets Maroma Beach. So so beautiful. The staff were so nice and went above and beyond to make us comfortable. Excellent food, especially the Asian restaurant. We would definitely go back! The only improvement would be more beach and pool seating with shade. However the staff did their best to provide more umbrellas.

The attention from the staff was excellent, the food was a 4.5. The cost to stay here is pricy but the worst part of our stay is we saw a few bed bugs on our king bed.

Great location. Not too far from the airport. Staff was very friendly. Our room was very clean and the grounds were very well maintained. The only drawbacks were the restaurant was under renovation at the time and we were having breakfast in the ballroom throughout our stay. The other was guests reserving pool loungers and not using them. Other than that it was perfect. We will be returning!!

The property is a very beautiful setting and is keep immaculately. Every one of the staff go above and beyond to make this a wonderful experience. There are numerous resteraunt options and pool/beach side options. We highly recommend!

This experience was definitely out of this world for us! From check in to check out it was a well oiled machine!! Any issues are taken care of right away with the up most care! Our concierge Roberto was absolutely incredible, from our room tour to scheduling dinners/events I still cannot believe how amazing the staff was!! You want cleanliness while enjoying the most amazing views of nature this is it, they will be in your room 3 times a day, cleaning or restocking your room! We got to see the amazing resort cats, lizards, and racoons that were very in sync with the luxury life at secrets!! Absolutely recommend!!

All aspects of the resort were truly excellent. The staff and the services rendered were particularly good. The service provided by our concierge was exceptional especially when my wife unfortunately took ill. The only negative aspect was the split level floor in our room requiring a step up or down. This is in all the rooms and it is easy to misstep as I did twice. Fortunately I had no serious harm but serious injury is possible.

Great food, great service, and very clean. Staff was attentive, friendly, and ready to meet our every need. We especially enjoyed Coco, Himitsu, and room service. We enjoyed the turn down service and treats in our room. We had a swim up room which was relaxing and peaceful. So many wonderful things about this resort!

In my opinion, this resort does not meet five-star standards. While the property offers an all-inclusive experience, the overall quality feels average and seems to cater to an older demographic. Pros: Very clean, well-maintained grounds Beautiful beach Two strong dining options: Oceana and Seaside Grill Excellent and reliable housekeeping Cons: The resort is dated with visible wear Rooms have older finishes and uncomfortable bedding Food quality is generally bland and below expectations, aside from the two better restaurants Some staff members lacked professionalism, which was disappointing given the price point.

Beautiful resort. We stayed in swim-up room. Lagoon is nicely heated. Resort has a wonderful staff who work to make your vacation memorable. Breakfasts and lunches are excellent. Dinner restaurants have improved over 5 years ago, not great but good enough. Beach is clean with powder sand. Water clean and not rough. Enough activities to keep you interested being in the same place for your entire stay Highly recommend

This property was amazing! It was immaculately manicured and staff was so kind and helpful. Room was beautiful and they even had 4 pillow choices. Ac worked great and despite high humidity room still smelled fresh. Absolutely everything was included without hidden charges. Long Hyatt club sales pitch but not a bad deal if you travel a lot. Not much night life but if you are looking for the quiet couples time and a beautiful place to read your book, this is the place. We enjoyed all the restaurants but our favorite was Hymatsu. Whether you ordered ala cart or hibachi some of the best Asian food we have had. Best sushi we have had in a long time. Loved that you did not need reservations. Highly recommend!

Excellent customer service! All staff were very friendly and made us feel like home! Everywhere was clean and the cleaning staff did an exceptional job in keeping everywhere and everything nice and tidy! We love our swim out room! While it was quite busy by the pool, we enjoyed our privacy while still enjoying the beautiful sun and pool (river) that’s wide and long enough to enjoy swimming and suntanning in the water! We tried the French restaurant Bordeaux and it’s wonderful; Italian called Postino and it’s really really good (our favourite); the burgers at the Barefoot Grill by the pool were excellent; pizza was great also… lunch at seaside grill wasn’t impressive at all… and breakfast at the World Cafe was good. There’s a gentleman who made great latte at Coco Cafe! Would love to come back again!

My partner and I had an enjoyable stay at Secrets Maroma Beach, but there are a few things to consider before booking at this property. Check-in: The process was smooth and easy, though they do send a salesperson your way to try and upsell the preferred club packages. Simply say "no thanks" and you can avoid the sales pitch breakfast. Food: This was a disappointment for us. Despite reading reviews about the mediocre food, I hoped they weren’t accurate, but unfortunately, the food was quite average. It’s not terrible, but for the price you’re paying, it doesn’t meet the standard we’ve experienced at other Secrets properties. Room: The hotel is 15 years old, and the rooms are not as fresh as they appear in the photos online. Some nights, our room felt a bit warm—the AC doesn’t go below 70°F. When we raised this issue, they sent us a fan as a solution, which felt subpar for a five-star hotel. Beach: The beach was okay, not amazing but not bad either. It’s large and great for swimming, but when compared to other resorts in the area, it’s pretty average. Overall: While we had a decent time, I don’t think I’d return to Secrets Maroma Beach. There are better options nearby for the same or better value.

The staff at the hotel were super friendly and helpful. Everyone treated us so kindly. The food can be hit or miss but that's somewhat expected at an all inclusive resort. The "Preferred" upgrade has nicer rooms, butler service and upscale beach and bar/dining options. I recommend the upgrade. The ocean view rooms are pretty far from the ocean and partially obscured by the palm trees.

Just average. Small resort with mediocre restaurants. We paid extra for swim out room and the pool wasn’t heated and too cold to get in. Once we complained they turned on the heat but it was our last day. I’ve been to many all inclusives and it bewilders me how this resort has 5 star reviews.

This was our 3rd visit to Secrets Maroma, it was wonderful as always! The staff is so accommodating and always pleasant, we cannot wait to visit again!

Overall, not a bad experience. Service staff were incredible. Food was mediocre and seemed to be penny pinching quite a bit. There are also hidden up charges throughout the whole experience. The biggest negative was the pushy sales person at check in. We were pushed into a “breakfast presentation” with no tiger details even when asked. We were offered $500 credit at the spa for attending. Turns out, they just reorganize the bill to only give a small discount from original price. The presentation was a sales pitch on their scheme similar to a time share. We tried to leave multiple times when things got pushy. It took around 3 hours of our vacation time. When we walked out to leave, I had a quick work call to make. They saw the opportunity to corner my wife and continue their high pressure sales on her which made her very uncomfortable. The whole shady sales experience was enough to leave a bad taste in our mouth. We will not be returning to any Hyatt resort again. From further research, all Hyatt resorts behave the same.

Outstanding staff, highly recommend.

The property itself was great, but the sales tactics undermined the value of the premium price we paid. Upon arrival, we were pitched an upgrade to the “Preferred Club,” which quickly turned into a timeshare presentation. While I get it’s a business, it set a disappointing tone. On our first night, we were seated to discuss options for the New Year’s celebration, assuming it was included in the inflated holiday rate. Instead, we were told we’d need to pay $400-$800 extra to attend. This left us frustrated and undervalued, souring our impression of the stay. The restaurants had long waits every night, which is understandable during the New Year’s rush, but the inconsistency between bars was disappointing. Drinks varied wildly in quality. The lobby bar was the best, offering decent drinks, but the others served weak, inconsistent versions of the same orders. The constant upselling—whether for cabanas, events, or vendor products—was exhausting. My wife wanted to leave after the first night when she couldn’t get into a restaurant she’d looked forward to. I shared our concerns with the concierge and front desk, but nothing was done. Limited beach shade also seemed designed to push guests into renting cabanas. While I had a decent time and would consider going back, my wife made it clear she would not. The aggressive sales tactics and lack of attention to guest concerns diminished the overall enjoyment.

Amenities and service were top notch. Staff were welcoming and attentive providing exceptional service. Exceeded my expectations!

We’ve been to many Hyatt resorts in Mexico and never will we come here again. Upon arrival they tried to upsell us to a timeshare. When we said no thanks, they quickly rushed us out of the welcome area. And since then there were several situations where they try to upsell you. Expedia granted us a VIP resort credit that the hotel would not honor. Total BS. They wouldn’t let us leave the resort until we paid hundreds more- made us miss our transport and then had to scramble and get us a taxi to take us to the airport. They’re fault, at least they paid for the taxi. Food was ok at the restaurants- breakfast was awful. Many guests we talked to said the same thing. They use cheap alcohol even in the “preferred” bar. They have only 2 pools and 1 swim up bar. Not enough seating at the pool. But they have a ton of weird shallow fountains that you can accidentally walk into. Go literally anywhere else but here.

We travel to Riviera Maya every few years and we’re slightly disappointed by this property. Every restraint was mediocre, the VIP credits were minimal compared to the cost of the amenities, many people on the resort became sick while we were there. The staff was very nice and helpful. They do try and sell you vacation packages, in which they are very pushy.

Excellent staff, luxury resort, beautiful pools, fantastic food! 10/10 would recommend all around! This was the best all inclusive we have ever stayed at hands down - we were so pampered and it was hard for us to leave. The only minor down side was that we were asked to attend a 90 min presentation and encouraged to upgrade services (for example, to upgrade to a dinner with champagne on the beach), but overall this did not have an impact on our experience at the resort. Overall, the service at this resort was better than any place we have ever been to!

The staff and the resort is exceptional. We wanted to relax and have some fun and we got that and more. The resort was definitely 5 diamond worthy. From the check in with Mariela, my meeting with Mario and Karla, my concierge Roger and Hector, baggage and driver Alfredo and ofcourse the bartenders Ivan ar the beach bar, Leo, Argelio & team at the preffered club and Miguel at the pool cabana & room service everyone was very attentive and respectful, & I know I missed a few names. The resort had lots of activities and a good crowd. We loved the swimout pool suite and how private it all felt, great atmosphere. We would definitely come back.

Secrets Maroma was excellent!! great staff no complaints resort food cleanliness top notch Only one thing the road into the resort is bombed out you never get a second chance at first impressions.... Secrets you might wanna fix that road in buy a grader and backfil that road.

We had an amazing stay at Secrets Maroma! The place is beautiful and very inviting! Always something going on entertainment wise! The food was excellent and wait staff top notch! Outside of being a little small with not a lot of shopping nearby, the place is A1! Highly Recommend!

The property is very pretty and the staff go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. We had a couple of little glitches along the way but Emanuel, the concierge in block 16 is excellent, always going above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable (thank you so much!) The food is good, and drinks are good. There are a lot of things to do around the resort, entertainment is really good and there is a lot going on everyday, you can take part or not, it’s your choice. The beach is very pretty and very clean, there was a little seaweed but they kept the beach clear. The main areas in the grounds are well maintained, and the room was very pretty. This was a relaxing vacation for us, and that’s what we got in a lovely setting. It is quite far from Playa Del Carmen and Cancun, so be prepared to pay for a taxi ($33 each way to PDC). There isn’t really much going on in the surrounding areas so, if going to the towns in the evening is your thing, be prepared for that.

Our stay was exceptional from start to finish!! This resort is paradise! The beach is fantastic, the rooms are lovely and clean. We went with a preferred club swim out and are eager to do it again! The food was good, the drinks were good, and the service and people are AMAZING!!!

The property was beautiful it was away from other properties. There were three security stations for clearance to get onto the property. Very secure. All the staff was amazing. The resort has daily activities. I highly recommend!

My 1st time in Mexico. What an amazing getaway exceeding every expectation. From the moment we arrived, the staff treated us with warmth and professionalism. The staff were incredibly attentive, friendly, and genuinely committed to making our stay unforgettable. The food was exceptional - a wide variety of options and everything tasted freshly prepared. Room service was prompt and price included in the all inclusive deal. The cleanliness was impeccable and the housekeepers respectful. I loved our swim out pool, and the main pool was gorgeous and we could always find sun loungers even at peak times. The Beach is also easily accessible and has a lovely bar. The in hotel entertainment was great and a variety of options in both the day and night time. If you are looking for a luxurious, relaxing and fun filled escape - with outstanding staff and great food - then book with them

Nice property, but food is mediocre at best. Limited options for breakfast especially. I’d stay at Unico or TRS on a return visit to Riviera Maya.

The dining options were excellent. The property was well maintained and clean inside and out. My favorite thing was the staff. Always friendly and helpful, always. The person that helped us the most was our concierge Marco. Always smiling, greeting and helping. He made our stay for seven nights wonderful. I would recommend this getaway to anyone.

Been to a lot of all inclusive hotels and this one had great reviews so thought we would give it a try. Lots of good things and some bad things. The events staff at this hotel is second to none. Best events and planning of any all inclusive we have been to. Event staff is a lot of fun and always has something lined up. Food at half the places were food. Hibachi was excellent, French was bland and I. Seasoned, el patio was the Mexican choice but really didn’t seem to be Mexican food. Seems unusual that it is so hard to find Mexican food options at a resort in Mexico. Did the lobster rock event and the food was very poor. Fun event great drinks and great environment but the food is sub par. The beach at the property is amazing! Very clean and beautiful. Would be nice if they would clear out some of the area between the pool and the beach so you can actually enjoy the view of the ocean from the hotel. Only way to enjoy the beach is to be on it. Hotel rooms are a little dated but they are nice. They are kept very clean and great service. Biggest issue we had the whole time we were there was it was very hard to sleep. We had people above us that were up all hours of the night and the floors seem paper thin. We heard everything and had a hard time getting a good night sleep. Overall I would rate the hotel a 3 out of 5 because the staff and people were phenomenal but the environment and the food were not amazing. Can’t always enough about the events staff

Good resort, good staff, wife and I got Ecoli from food. Watch what you eat!

The beach is fantastic. Unfortunately, there are enough chairs on the beach (Preferred Club or otherwise) when the resort is full. Unfortunately, there were lots of people marking chairs at the pool and beach first thing in the day. The service was quite good but the drinks were incredibly watered own even when we asked for doubles. I joked with my wife that a "triple" might yield what a single would yield elsewhere. The food was average. My wife was not a fan at all. I thought the selection was robust but some seasoning was needed on the majority of the food. I enjoyed having an Old Fashioned made tableside at the Italian restaurant. As for the room, we upgraded to a Honeymoon Suite with ocean view. The room was spacious but not worth the additional charge if you paid full freight. Our ocean view was also impeded by a couple of two story beach cabanas. Our patio had water staining on the ceiling as well as stained cushions. Paint was also peeling on the ceiling and a column. There was also no true sports bar to watch CFB playoff games. The only bar that came close had limited seating. Next, we were brought to our room in a maintenance golf cart and 3 adults tried to fit on a seat designed for two. I half hung off the golf cart as did the driver. We were also brought to our room by way of a back alley that is for service vehicles and warehousing for the resort. Not a good look. All told, this is not a 5 star resort. It is more like 3.5-4 stars.
