The location was clean, beautiful, and well situated towards La Fortuna and the Hot Springs. The breakfast buffet was great in terms of satiating us with traditional beans and rice, scrambled eggs, pancakes, toast, cereals, lots of fruit as well. The pools were nice and clean as where the bedrooms. My own suggestion would be to add conditioner to the menu of soap and shampoo.

The garden and location of this hotel was beautiful. However, the rooms were not numbered and was confusing to remember, which was yours. Also, we had no hand towels or washcloths. The ceiling light/fan had a mind of its own and would turn on or off randomly, including in the middle of the night. The breakfast was very good however they need to cover the food due to the massive amount of flies landing on the buffet. Parking was good but limited, and sometimes the parking lot was completely full. Staff was friendly and courteous.

The property was right off the main road which made it convenient to get to. Parking could be a bit tight depending on the day. The property had a restaurant and there was sushi outside also. The property was otherwise not walkable to get much else. Rooms were very clean and well taken care of. The bungalow we stayed in was wonderful and looked out at the Volcano. Pools were clean. The gonna were well manicured and looked after.

Los espacios comunes del hotel estaban en buenas condiciones...hay espacios que están arreglando y otros haciendo a nuevo como las piscinas. La habitación deja que desear. El baño se veía que tenía arreglo arriba de otro arreglo...durante nuestra estadía convivimos con un charco de agua constante en el piso del baño...algo del desagüe de la bañera no funcionaba. El aire acondicionado solo funcionaba en frio, no podíamos aclimatar la habitación. Tuvimos que usar la ropa de cama de la otra cama para taparnos. Había villas que se veían renovadas, no fue la nuestra.

The view of the Volcano is fantastic, but it can not make up for the fact that the facility is missing so much in terms of both comfort and common sense. Not having normal latches on doors is insane, not having a mini fridge or microwave is unfortunate. But the unforgivable is not being able to clean all the sheets, towels and pillow cases appropriately. Everything was soiled, stained, smelled of human prespiration or other bodily fluids including possible blood stains on one pillow case. There is a lot to fix. Staff was OK, but they did lie a lot and looked out for making a quick buck when booking transportation.

This hotel is fantastic! The staff are kind. The breakfast is excellent, featuring healthy food and a great variety that starts the day perfectly. Moreover, the entire hotel is spotlessly clean and beautifully maintained. A truly outstanding experience—highly recommend!

The property was great, clean and spacious with good tv, AC and good bathroom. Breakfast was really good and staff very friendly. Location was a bit far from the city center by walk but easy and quick drive to the city center and they had a big and easy parking too. Really good restaurant just opposite side of the hotel called Mirador. The view to the Volcano was breathtaking, so beautiful. Highly recommend to stay there.

Cute little cabins with lovely garden surrounding. Nice covered sitting area outside. Was perfect for our family. Clean as well and very helpful front desk staff. Our boys loved the pool too. Didn’t eat in restaurant so can’t comment on food. Breakfast was ok but not great. Definitely would stay again.

Our first room had lots of mold in the bathroom. I have an autoimmune disease and did want to stay in the room. The workers were very supportive and moved our room. I appreciated their understanding. The property is stunning and the view of the Arenal Volcano is amazing.

Beautiful rainforest around property. Very pleasant. Rooms were not very clean. Bathroom should have a mat since it gets quite wet. On second day we used the "dry" feature in air conditioner and that help remove the humid feeling inside the room. No TV channels were working in TV and it was too small.

The hotel room was nice and clean, however, the rooms are dated. The basic rooms the beds are a bit springy, the WiFi was very spotty, it has two pools on the smaller side yet they are nice and clean. The view to the Volcano is spot on! The breakfast is good. It is a lovely property with very nice rooms. Our room had a beautiful view of the volcano. The property has beautiful grounds with lots of flowering plants. All staff we encountered were so friendly. The bed was very comfortable. We had a shower attachment that needed to be fixed and they did it promptly. Nice variety of food for breakfast. I would definitely stay again.

We only spent one night at this property when we decided not to drive from La Fortuna to Monteverde (very long drive) and would have stayed longer. It was very quiet, clean, and the beds were super comfortable. The room was quite spacious, and it had a fridge and large tv. We were in a superior room as it was only $5 more than a regular room. There were two pools on the property and they seemed quite nice. The included breakfast buffet was satisfying. We ate dinner at the restaurant across the street from the hotel, The Mirador, and the food was good. There are not a lot of restaurant choices near this hotel, but with a car La Fortuna is a short drive away. I would absolutely choose to stay at Hotel Lavas Tacotal in the future!

I stayed at this hotel in December and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. First, the room was not up to standard. It did not match the description or photos advertised online. Our room lacked the views and lush greenery. Our view was a parking lot. Located beside a sushi restaurant, above the spa, beside a permanent residence with 3 dogs, and adjacent to a busy road with loud noises. Sleeping was impossible. No sense of security. Most frustrating was the hotel staff’s inability (or unwillingness) to properly address the issues I raised during my stay. When I reported the problems with the room on the first day, I did not feel that my concerns were taken seriously, and no effective solution was provided at the time. After returning home, I contacted the property to follow up. I was informed that they had offered to move me to another hotel. This never happened. I booked the room six months in advance, so the hotel had time to communicate that they had overbooked prior to my stay. During my stay, they did admit that the room was not in line with the rest of the property but they were totally booked and another room was not available. The staff failed to resolve the situation during my stay, which left me feeling frustrated and unsupported. We were given a 10% discount after returning home.

This is more rustic than newer hotels in the area, but it makes up for it by larger than normal rooms with a desk, a large refrigerator, a water closet in addition to a bathroom with a double vanity and large walk-in shower. The price includes a full breakfast from 7 am - 9 am. There is a restaurant on-site but during my stay, it was only open the first night of my stay, Sunday evening. But I did get a delicious salad and cocktail delivered to my room that night. I was disappointed on the nights it was closed because I already had choices picked out. But there are restaurants that are close, even walkable, so that helped. I would definitely stay here again.

It is a lovely property with very nice rooms. Our room had a beautiful view of the volcano. The property has beautiful grounds with lots of flowering plants. All staff we encountered were so friendly. The bed was very comfortable. We had a shower attachment that needed to be fixed and they did it promptly. Nice variety of food for breakfast. I would definitely stay again.

Our first room had lots of mold in the bathroom. I have an autoimmune disease and did want to stay in the room. The workers were very supportive and moved our room. I appreciated their understanding. The property is stunning and the view of the Arenal Volcano is amazing.

Amazing experience at Lavas Tacotal. Karen was super helpful and attentive. She was available to help us with everything we needed during our 3 night stay. The included breakfast is delicious. the views of Arenal Volcano are unbeatable, especially from the second pool. It is peaceful being outside of town and it is easy to get an Uber into town. Overall, we recommend Lavas to anyone.

I stayed at this hotel in December and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. First, the room was not up to standard. It did not match the description or photos advertised online. Our room lacked the views and lush greenery. Our view was a parking lot. Located beside a sushi restaurant, above the spa, beside a permanent residence with 3 dogs, and adjacent to a busy road with loud noises. Sleeping was impossible. No sense of security. Most frustrating was the hotel staff’s inability (or unwillingness) to properly address the issues I raised during my stay. When I reported the problems with the room on the first day, I did not feel that my concerns were taken seriously, and no effective solution was provided at the time. After returning home, I contacted the property to follow up. I was informed that they had offered to move me to another hotel. This never happened. I booked the room six months in advance, so the hotel had time to communicate that they had overbooked prior to my stay. During my stay, they did admit that the room was not in line with the rest of the property but they were totally booked and another room was not available. The staff failed to resolve the situation during my stay, which left me feeling frustrated and unsupported. We were given a 10% discount after returning home.

The pools were nice and clean as where the bedrooms. My own suggestion would be to add conditioner to the menu of soap and shampoo.

The view of the volcano here is amazing (when the clouds clear), absolutely beautiful. We stayed in a bungalow and it was very spacious and had everything we needed. The breakfast was great and served early which was perfect for us to get on our way to our excursions. Parking was good we always found a spot. There are a few dining options around here but not many, it is very helpful to have a car as it is about 15 minutes outside of the main area. For us the location away from the downtown was perfect and a much quieter option.

Location was a bit far from the city center by walk but easy and quick drive to the city center and they had a big and easy parking too. Really good restaurant just opposite side of the hotel called Mirador. The view to the Volcano was breathtaking, so beautiful. Highly recommend to stay there.

I didn’t want to leave. The volcano was magical. The pool was refreshing. Our room was adequate. I would have appreciated a bedside table and lamp. The best part was the location. Out of downtown La Fortuna, it was quiet. A short walk down the road is a convenience store to grab chips and cold beers. In the same strip is an adventure tour co (awesome), and a restaurant. Back to the hotel- 10/10 would go back.

The property was right off the main road which made it convenient to get to. Parking could be a bit tight depending on the day. The property had a restaurant and there was sushi outside also. The property was otherwise not walkable to get much else. Rooms were very clean and well taken care of. The bungalow we stayed in was wonderful and looked out at the Volcano. Pools were clean. The gonna were well manicured and looked after.

The shower hose wasnt connected properly so the water sprayed everywhere and the pressure wasnt good. The breakfast offered was runny scrambled eggs and burnt pancakes. The fruit looked like it was old and mushy. Not worth the money!

This is more rustic than newer hotels in the area, but it makes up for it by larger than normal rooms with a desk, a large refrigerator, a water closet in addition to a bathroom with a double vanity and large walk-in shower. The price includes a full breakfast from 7 am - 9 am. There is a restaurant on-site but during my stay, it was only open the first night of my stay, Sunday evening. But I did get a delicious salad and cocktail delivered to my room that night. I was disappointed on the nights it was closed because I already had choices picked out. But there are restaurants that are close, even walkable, so that helped. I would definitely stay here again.
