Arnos Manor Hotel

Last time I stayed here was 4 years ago and it wasn't very good was being used as a refuge hotel and had security on the door but looking at the reviews it's changed hands and had a makeover so here's my review! Big carpark and it's free to use Slow check in was two people on but one was doing it all All information given. No lift only stairs to the floors. Room was a good size as was the bathroom. As I entered the room I did see a slim trail on the floor and bed I moved the bed but didn't find anything, except the old TV remote!! Bed was comfortable Wifi excellent Shower hot and powerful Breakfast not included but could add if wanted Evening meal was ok Simple menu reasonably priced there's a few restaurants close by Location is next to a busy junction on the outskirts of the city . Would stay again if nothing else close by!

Hotel was close enough to get public transport to city centre. Room was good size, included a bathtub and we were checked if we needed anything else. Disappointing that the bar shut bang on 11pm even though we were residents and there was a number of other hotel guests all wanting another drink as well. Breakfast was kept topped up and fresh.

Ample parking, staff welcoming and efficient. Dining facility good, bar and food variety small but would do. The grumpy bit, no stair lift as old building, quite few flight of stair, those with COPD, breathing/lung issues no advisable, although im sure staff will their best to accommodate. I used this several previous times as its near my family to get to quickly. Bring your own toiletries.

All staff members were so helpful & friendly made such a difference to our stay, room was a good size & all clean, breakfast was good and our large dog was accommodated for. we shall be back.

I have been staying at this hotel on and off for 20 years. I had a fondness for it as I almost lived there for a bit in 2013 when I was based their four nights a week. However, I have to say the place has deteriorated whilst it prices have substantially increased. Last night I went to the bar and ordered a beer . They had run out of ALL DRAUGHT BEERS ! any establishment can run out of one beer but to run out of them all is nothing but incompetent management. They only had two bottle beers left. I ordered two bottles in a pint glass which worked out at £11 and they were warm. This is totally unacceptable in an establishment charging me £150 a night.

Lovely helpful staff, big room with very comfortable bed and everything we needed for a one night stay, We were very happy with our dog friendly room. Wi-Fi was free and easy to use. Thank you

Arnos Manor Hotel is a good choice for an affordable stay with good links to Bristol city centre. There are several buses running every 5-10 minutes. Also convenient for a drive to Bath. Parking is ample and free. Shalom at the reception was particularly helpful and professional. Breakfast had a great selection of hot foods and an excellent coffee machine. The staff were approachable and replenished the buffet regularly.

A comfortable enough stay for one night while at a wedding nearby. The hotel has no lift so make sure you request a ground floor room if bringing a pushchair

Upon arrival, I was required to change rooms due to the following issues in the first room: Bed sheets had not been cleaned and there were visible blood stains. Dead insects were found in the light fittings. Unfortunately, the second room provided was also unacceptable, with the following problems: Uneven floor in the toilet, with holes present. Damaged bedframe and door frame. Shower lacked any markings to indicate hot/cold settings, making usage inconsistent and difficult. The room became excessively hot, requiring the window to be left open. As a result, I developed a chill and subsequently caught a cold. Breakfast was equally disappointing: Eggs were undercooked. Hash browns were overcooked. Additional concerns included: Décor throughout the hotel was inconsistent. While the reception area had been presented to a reasonable standard, the rooms did not match the luxurious images advertised on your website. This left me feeling misled and mis-sold. The hotel grounds were poorly maintained, with broken and damaged light fittings and signage clearly visible. Given the above, I believe the room rates charged are wholly unjustified. Comparable hotels in the area offer far superior quality at the same price point. In my view, the rooms I experienced should be priced at no more than half of what was charged. Overall, the stay was of very poor quality. I feel deceived by the misleading online presentation of your hotel and will be avoiding your establishment

I really liked my stay here. It was perfect for my work as it was close to it and other useful places. My room was massive, bed was comfy. I also discovered the history of the building and im sad to say i wasnt haunted. My only complaint is that the bath hadnt been cleaned properly and there was black mould on the grout but ill definitely come back.

Emily on reception very welcoming and friendly. Room a good size but a little dated. The cleanliness was acceptable tho not perfect. Cobwebs on ceiling and walls, one pillow case marked, skirting boards scruffy and windows need cleaning. Bathroom clean.

The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was large but dated, bed was comfy but the pillows were hard as rocks. There were 2 fans in our room (which was great) but they were so coated in dust I had to wipe them off before using. The jacuzzi tub could have used with a lot better cleaning cycle and pushed out A LOT of gunk.

Awful. Put a folded adult mattress protector loosely down in our baby’s cot instead of a fitted mattress (major cot death risk). Mattress underneath was stained and dirty. Empty coffee wrapper left on the table. Dusty surfaces. Thin walls and ceiling. Brown water coming out of the bathroom tap. Only saving grace was the fact that the men who came to help us with the cot were lovely. Avoid.

The hotel was clean, staff friendly and the breakfast menu had a wide range of varieties.

The reception and bar area is nicely presented, the staff were very helpful. The room was dirty, the window didn’t stay open so they had to drill a hole in the window frame to keep it open, they did clean the bathroom floor at my request. The light fittings were exterior and on a couple of them were hanging down from the wall, the sash window rope had snapped and was hanging down, generally very tired room Crown hotels need to up their game on this beautiful facade hotel, all the windows on the outside are rotting and need repainted bring, a real shame as this could be a beautiful hotel.

The hotel itself was clean and well presented although rather dated. The rooms however were quite dirty, we had empty toilet roll cardboard on the floor in the bathroom and hairs in the sink. We also asked if we could have fresh towels and the room cleaned and they said not for a two night stay. We changed first room because that smelt like smoke. Staff seemed friendly and accommodating. But overall was disappointed with the quality of the rooms.

It’s an old building with charm but only part of it as parts look very tired , as with the interior parts look old with classic design others old and tired, the bedroom we had was in need of a good clean and redecorating

Ok ish hotel. Staff are great. Had a single room, no plug sockets next to bed is a massive pet peeve. No additional plugs next to tv to and your smart tv devices. WiFi slow and ususable apart from viewing emails. No chance of streaming. Very old building so the floor boards creak throughout and if your unlucky enough to be next to a hallway fire door, that thing bangs close and will keep you awake if traffic on your floor is high at night/early morning.

All OK, very hot room despite the heatwave being over. No AC but 3 fans provided to stir the hot air around. No plug points or USB charger points within reach of the bed. Great staff, lovely building. Could use some investment in the rooms. Bathroom/shower particularly.

this time I was in a really noisy room and got woken up at 0527 with the traffic

Our room was large (specious) very clean. The only negative was that i had to sleep with window open due to heat (did turn radiator off) due to location of room lots of traffic noise.

Having read some of the reviews for the hotel i was dreading my visit. But I was veey pleasantly surprised. I had a big room qith a massive kingsize bed despite my booking indicating it was a standard double. The room was clean and tidy and the bathroom whilst small and maybe a little in need of updating, had a fabulous shower. Staff were polite and helpful, happily arranging an extra quilt to be sent to my room the second night of my stay due to the weather having dropped very cold. Breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice and well worth the 9.95. The only downside to my stay was on the morning after my first night when roadworks started very loudly on the road just outside my groundfloor room, which meant I got eudely awakened at 8am with drilling going on for the next couple of hours. However, this was doubtless outside the hotel's control and when i spoke to reception they did offer me the chance ro move rooms if I wanted to but I didnt need to in the end as the roadworks had gone before the next morning. I would be happy to stay here again.

This was an OK, cheap place to stay for a night. The bed was comfortable, but there were a few issues with the room - especially that there was no way of locking the sash window from the inside, so it could be opened from the outside. Furnishings and bathroom a bit tired and tatty. Staff are lovely though!

Old character property, comfortable and decent stay. Nice bar area, even if the rooms and halls are very dated. Expected for an old manor hotel. The room was huge, heater didn't work at all though. Tv in a slightly odd place but made sense. All in all, just right for a work night stay.

We found the Arnos in need of a serious update, especially the bathrooms. If we were to stay here again it would have to be much cheaper given the state of the rooms. The best part about our stay was the service, which was great.

Staff friendly but all seemed inexperienced, lack of choice behind the bar and breakfast shocking blamed on yhe amount of walk ins they had that morning

With only two staff on, when the barman goes on a brake the receptionist can not book a meal for you. i.e. they cant press the appropriate keys on the till. This happened on not one, but two nights. Next the set meals come with a drink, when I made the booking it showed the meats can also have the Hobgoblin, on the night I was told that was not the case! In the room after I used the soap in the bath it was not refilled, likewise having gone out to get a meal, the empty box was not removed from my room in the morning. Overall not impressed, especially when the booking agency (Expedia/ Hotels.com) had made an error on the booking and the hotel point blankly refused to refund the booking so I was forced to go there as well.

First impressions were very good, the man doing check in was polite and helpful. The room was very basic which was fine, however the cleanliness was disgusting, paint on walls was cracked and peeling, tv remote was a bug haven, dust on every surface. No hand towel in the bathroom and the bath had massive rust marks. The younger women on check was rude and made me feel like you she just wanted us to get out. Breakfast was good with plenty of options.

Quality for money was appalling. Very noisy and inaccessible for a first floor, no lift but also no assistance offered or an explanation of labyrinth of corridors, doors that banged and more steps up and down at every turn. The many different receptionist during my 3 night stay were not informative or appeared to know their basic job requirements. I requested the need for a fridge for life dependant medical condition and they could only offer use of hotel fridge. When asking for medicine to use, it was frozen and not refrigerator so not useable. When l explained and consequently had to stress the importance of fridgeration not freezer, l was greeted with distracted responses, apparently dealing things like straightening desk top objects and a shrug and thats the only room we had available for medicine. I had rang ahead to discuss my requirements and was informed that it would be fine. I would never stay here again or suggest to anyone else to stay here. Please find alternative arrangements where you are welcome and treated with some respect.

Staff were lovely! Building is very lovely and old! Broken furniture and dated decor, wallpaper peeling but aside from the aesthetic's the bed was really comfy, the room a great size, parking was really convenient, breakfast ran out but I wasn’t too hungry…I would stay again because it was comfy and we were only really there to sleep

Good hotel near city centre. Book early to get good price and take some ear plugs if your room in near the front and you want to block traffic noise

Lovely hotel, set like a castle next to a big park. Friendly staff, excellent breakfast. 10-15 minute bus journey into the city centre, regular buses. Nice area. Downside is the car park entrance next to the traffic lights on a major junction, not easy to either get in or get out.

The hotel is located on a mail road so it’s easy enough to get to. Parking is good. The hotel is an old building converted to hotel, which is pleasant. Facilities of food and drink are available. I’m not sure if there’s a lift available, there wasn’t one to my room on the 2nd floor, but it was fine for me. Nice reception and bar area, as you would expect for an old manor hotel. The room is again, like an old manor style room. The bathroom facilities are good. Just to mention there’s no air condition in the room, but don’t think that was a given in description anyway. Overall I really enjoyed my stay.

Nice stay in a convenient location. We had a downstairs room which was large, although fairly basic in decor. Breakfast was also ok, although nothing particular special (they do cater for dietary issues though). We had an evening meal there the first night & that was very bland, although the staff there were hospitable.

The property itself was really nice, the room was well furnished with quite a large bathroom. Check in and check out were easy and all the people my partner and I spoke to on reception were polite and friendly. The property was close to a bus stop so it was easy to get to and from the city centre. The only issue we encountered was that the cooked breakfast was cold, even though we'd gone right at the beginning of breakfast service. We would stay here again, but maybe just skip the breakfast next time.

We really enjoyed our stay and had a lovely room. We had a good experience checking in, the reception staff were very helpful. We booked an executive room and it didnt disappoint. Very large comfortable bed, sofa large television and tea/coffee making facilities. The bathroom was also well appointed even having a javuzzi bath which my wife took advantage of. Our only issue was with the breakfast. I went down at 8.45 as breakfast ended at 9.30. But when I went to select the cooked items I was not impressed. Fried eggs were dried and rubbery. No scrambled eggs. The sausages were few and those were laying in congealed fat. I was very disappointed. I did not go for breakfast on the second morning because of my experience. It was a shame because everything else in the hotel was good.
