Things I liked: Very safe. Well kept grounds. Stay was very nice. Their breakfast buffet is good, they can it continental but it's not, it's actually a full breakfast buffet which was great. They have great onsite shopping. Ways to improve: They don't manage the pools well. People leave their towels on the lounge chairs for 10 hours without coming back and the staff do nothing to make them available to people who want/need them. One simple pinacollata is 16$ usd. The food was very expensive, much more than got the same in the United States. 150 usd for 2 people was average bill at onsite restraunts. House keeping cleaned our room 4 out of 7 days. 1 day the elevators didn't work (we were on 7th floor). One day they shut off the water all afternoon. The hot tubs are not very warm. Overall it's very nice, but much more money than even the average resort in the US in terms of cost. They have good food options. Staff are friendly, but there is a lot of improvement needed in terms of them actually doing their jobs and attention to detail.

Property staff are great…but property is CONSTANTLY under renovation. Limited restaurants due to closures, no lobby, lobby bar or evening entertainment. Prices on site have risen and some services reduced…no turn down service anymore, no slippers in room…I know, first world problems (!) but it’s supposed to be a flagship JW resort. Lost its sparkle, and almost guaranteed to have jack hammers and saws working whenever we go.

We were disappointed with our room. Prefer to be close to the beach elevator and on the East side, higher floor. I know status matters, but pilots spending a night in a suite seems wasted (they said so too). There was a wedding, so it was quite noisy. That was okay, as it was fun to see them celebrate. The pools closed at 6 p.m. Please keep one open, maybe the adult pool. Elevators were slow. The A/C in our room was noisy.

Beautiful property! My wife and I recently visited the JW Marriott for our anniversary and had a wonderful time. The staff and service are exceptional and went above and beyond. We enjoyed the spa and fitness room, as the spa is very nice, with a hot tub, cold tub, steam room, sauna, relaxation room, etc. We visited the onsite restaurants, where we had great food and top-notch service. The lobby bar had live music, and of course, great drinks, food, and service! We also enjoyed the pools and had a cabana for one of the days, which was perfect (recommend cabana #2, next to the infinity pool and overlooking the ocean). Two comments with the pools, one, we felt the pools could have been a little colder for a more refreshing cool down on those hot May days, and two, we found it a little unusual there was no music at any of the pools, including the adult pool with a swim up bar. Overall, we found the hotel to be beautiful, well kept, with great restaurants and bars, spa, etc. and exceptional service and staff! We will return!

Clean room. Balcony with view of resort area and the ocean. Relaxing vibe… quiet in the eve with only ocean sounds. The thai restaurant wasnt available to us unfortunately. Food at the restaurants we visited was good but service was inconsistent at the italian one. The spanish restaurant had really nice servers and we met a wonderful chef there. We also enjoyed breakfast there daily. Gym facilities were superb and clean with a good mix of equipment. The outdoor pools were great… we enjoyed them most at around sunset. Our first trip to Mexico and truly an enjoyable experience.

The beach was gorgeous, our room was amazing. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. We really had the greatest time ever! It would be nice to add in poolside activities, especially on the weekends. Or at least playing some salsa music. Evening entertainment would’ve been cool too. Hopefully management considers adding those things in.

Food was very good, bed was comfortable with excellent views of the ocean. Only problem was the amount of construction in the hotel that we were not aware of at the time of booking. Glad our room was far from it but we could still here the drilling all day.

WOW! Truly amazing hotel. As you walk in they open the doors for you, all the time. The hotel is beautiful with all modern marble upgrades. Freezing cold AC which is a must in Cancun. The staff and everyone is 5 star. The hotel is so clean it’s unreal. The staff is constantly working on keeping the property immaculate. From the cleaning crew to the gardeners and the pool cleaning staff, they are continuously working non stop and the property shows. They even have a “bird control” staff that uses a hawk to scare away the birds so you are not bothered. The rooms are large with an amazing view of the ocean. The AC is as cold as you want it and I mean freezing. That’s important in Mexico, not all hotels are the same. The food is amazing. I mean everything we ate was 5 star. The pool service was super fast. The house keeping staff checks back in the evening to turn up the room with fresh towels, waters or whatever else is needed. You are truly treated like royalty and it shows. They are a 5 minute walk from aqua world which has plenty of different adventures. A 5 minute cab ride from La Isla Shopping center which has lots of shopping, restaurants and a casino. Overall, this hotel was probably one of the best hotels and service we have ever experienced. We highly recommend and will definitely be back. Thank you!

Very dirty restrooms by the pool, need to wake up early to get a spot at the pool or you will not get a spot. Club 91 was very disappointing, no variety in food, very taste less, low quality. Not open all day for snacks as they say it would be. If you want to use the coupons for the spa they don’t have appointments available, but if you want to pay for it they will fit you in now! (Very disappointed) the margarita coupons again the bartender give us two half cups of margaritas (I questioned and they said yup that’s you get) tried to use the coffee coupon and the coffee coupon is good for the same coffee I already get at club 91, didn’t see the point of that! Went to the Spanish restaurant our last day got ordered 7:30 and we heard nothing back from them until we got mad at 8:45 then they rolled in the food that was already cold, don’t know who dropped the ball there! Everything is very over priced! Not recommended or will ever say anything good about this resort.

The location is fantastic. The staff is fantastic. The room service staff and food was great. We reserved a beach view room with balcony. They parked us on the first floor in the dungeon of the building. We could here a piece of machinery our entire stay. It sounded like a distant drum, perhaps an industrial dryer. The building is run down. The hallway on the "1st Floor" aka basement didn't get vacuumed and the walls were neglected. The lodging was adequate, but we will probably go somewhere else next time.

The property was absolutely stunning. The pool was aestheticly pleasing and they have a variety to choose from. Tbe beach was much better and prettier on this side with less sea weed. The Italian restaurant Gustino was 10/10 must try! What i did not like was i paid for two beds and received 1 with a pull out couch that we were not able to pull out all the way due to lack of space. No sheets were provided for the couch either. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay and the staff was friendly.

This was a great hotel to stay in for a couple of days at the start of our Mexico trip. The staff were incredibly friendly. The rooms were generously sized and well appointed. The service at breakfast and by the pool was fantastic and the pool itself was lovely. The hotel was undergoing some renovations while we were there but these were not intrusive on our stay. The beach was a little disappointing due to the Sargassum seaweed that is present in the sea in this area at this time of year but there was plenty of room by the pool if one got there before midday. All the family really enjoyed the stay.

It was one of our best hotels experience we ever had. We were completely blown away by how well trained the staff was. They were all exceptional and naturally caring they weren’t doing it for the money they did it because they loved their jobs. I hope management is paying them well because I have never seen such professionalism in just one place. I could go on and on so I will end by saying everyone place choose this hotel whenever you go to Cancun because I want you to have this experience for yourself. 👏👏👏👏

HONESTLY one of the worst experiences I’ve had at a resort in Cancun! Some of the staff were very rude to me and my fiancé and unaccommodating! I waited over 10 hrs for some amenities including room service for fresh towels, robes and for someone to help help fix our phone. after freshly proposing to my fiancé by the ocean and going back to the resort to have some celebratory drinks, I was ignored and told at the club 91 lounge that we could have only beer to drink because we looked intoxicated which was total BS as we didn’t consume any alcohol that day! Made us feel very uncomfortable and we didn’t spend must time going back in there after the incident so went off the resort to eat and drink! What was suppose to be a very special time ended up turning into a disaster!

I rarely visit a property where I think “I would return there” but JW exceeded my expectations from checking in on us through our stay, having a group of staff who knew our names and welcomed us in and out, they had a gated property which made us feel extra safe, the pools were always in excellent condition (although we found the adults only pool a little too late). The best part was the amazing reccommendations by the hotel staff of where to eat. I was skeptical about not getting an all inclusive at cancun but I’m SOOO glad we didn’t. It gave us freedom to explore amazing recs by the staff. They tidied the rooms twice a day, and left us little chocolates, a wonderful surprise when coming back from excursions. The pool restaurant had the most amazing nachos!!! The only thing to critique was that you couldn’t get breakfast for three, one room = two buffett breakfasts (we got a double bed with three people but still couldnt get more than two through expedia). 10/10 reccommend!!! (Also amazing spa services)

This location is our "home away from home"! We discovered this Resort 4 yours ago, and have come back every year. Clean, comfortable, good location, but the best part are your people! When we arrive many recognize us, and several remember my children and my names. I feel like it's a reunion with friends. I'm also so happy that this is not a "all-inclusive" resort. We eat at all the the restaurants there, but like the option to also explore the area.

The hotel was great. The staff was great. The beach there at the hotel was atrocious. It was full of seaweed and smelled like rotten eggs. We didn’t even get to enjoy the beach on our trip at all we didn’t go in The restaurants at the facility are also not very good food, but that seem to be typical of the region. Also, this hotel shuts down at about 6 PM so if you’re in your 30s and looking to have any kind of fun at your resort, this wouldn’t be it for you. You can’t even go sit at the pool bar past 6 PM. But again, the staff was great, and the facility was beautiful, if I was rebooking, I would go somewhere else with some nightlife and a clean beach and some good food.

It was extremely clean, the staff was amazing, but the food was so American and very pricey. If you plan to taste Mexico, this hotel is not for you. The breakfast buffet is $36 per person (we didn’t purchase it). We purchased some breakfast sandwiches instead and they were hamburgers with salmon and egg with sausage but it didn’t taste good. We spent $56 on 3 breakfast sandwiches and some drinks and we threw them away. They do have restaurants inside the hotel but we didn’t try them. The prices were way too high so we went to eat in the surrounding restaurants outside the hotel. The room was clean and we had a very nice ocean view. The pools were very clean. I gave them a 3 star review because the food was very disappointing and we had to be leaving the hotel to find food.

We had a fantastic stay! The room was modern and spotless, the service was great, and the food at the main restaurants were quite good overall. That said, I do have a couple of complaints: 1. The beach was covered in seaweed—so much that I didn’t even feel like setting foot on it. 2. None of the three main restaurants offer lunch, which was a bit disappointing.

This was our second time visiting the JW but our first time experiencing Club 91. What an experience. I was hesitant to upgrade due to additional cost but it was the best decision we could have made. If you plan on eating 3x/day and don’t plan on leaving the resort it’s an excellent value. Food is great along with free (non-alcoholic) beverages all day. Open bar with all drinks included 6-10PM. Above all what made the experience memorable was the club 91 staff. GREAT team every one of them.
