Bus stop in front of the house. Car park spacious. Nice, large and clean rooms with en-suite bathrooms. The breakfast was nit really worth the money But overall a good place to stay in Edinburgh

Everything about this stay was wonderful, best cooked breakfast I’ve had possibly ever! Louis the head waiter was awesome, so friendly & helpful, the bed was very comfortable & we stayed downstairs to watch the massive tv by the honesty bar which cd be stocked up more, we will be coming back! Thank you so much! ☺️

Amazing, small but well maintained Victorian building/lodge in a pleasant area, 10/15min drive from the city. Lots of buses to get in and out of the city in front of the lodge & reasonably cheap Uber/taxi ride. Friendly and helpful staff but be aware there’s no lift being an old building, but extremely lovely and helpful staff to help you with the luggage, just ask.. We stayed at the very top (so not suitable if you’re tall), well designed, clean, great fluffy linen/bed to come to, from all days walk around Edinburgh! Highly recommended. Thank you xo

The lodge was nice, check in was easy and the lounge had cold drinks and bar service available. The room was comfortable but smelled a bit. Complimentary in room coffee, biscuits and a bit of sherry was a nice touch. Bus stop right out front.

This place is just really dated and poorly lit outside and the tv did not work... they did try to fix but not able too the bathtub is very unsafe and we were on the top floor with no lift...

Really quaint place. Room very spacious with comfy king size bed and pillow. Bus stop outside door so need to bring car into city centre 20 mins. max. Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was very good. Car parking on site.

Clean room. Had a jacuzzi bath that didnt work. Comfy bed. Breakfast was good.

Overall the hotel was a convenient location to stay at. Without a car the bus stops to and from the city were almost out front and 2 pound single fares was wonderful. However minor problems were apparent during the stay. There is no lift ( although the staff did assist happily ). Our TV wasn't hooked to the antenna thus no inroom tv ( although there is a large screen tv downstairs in the lounge ), when there was a large number of people in the breakfast room the meals were mixed up or incorrectly served. The large ( and very thick ) tartan drapes were ripped and there was a tassel hanging from the bed lamp. But i would stay there again as it seems the pluses outweigh the negatives

We had a lovely stay at the Kildonan Lodge which was great value for money. Our room was spotless and very quiet so we had a great nights sleep. The decor is a little bit dated and shower isn’t the most powerful but for the price we paid we thought it was great value for money. Lewis who worked on reception was so friendly and went out of his way to give us recommendations. The location is perfect with a 10 minute bus journey to the old town or half an hour walk. We also walked to holyrood park which only took 20 minutes. For a hotel with free parking and in such a good location I would highly recommend.

Lewis was so very very good and lovely to deal with. He went above and beyond. The property was lovely & we would stay there again. A couple suggestions. New towels every second day would be great and the shower curtain needed replacing as it was moldy… but all else was great!!

On the app it looked really high end, what a disappointment. Entered room to a musty smell. Looked clean. Bathroom toilet seat dirty and broken, towel rail all askew, no bath mat and shower curtain too long bad slip and trip hazard. No bedside unit just an empty space. No where to plug kettle in. If you manage to plug hairdryer in mirror is blocked by tv. Good points parking, soft towels. Wouldn’t stay again or recommend.

Very friendly Staff however the room we stayed in was very small . You could not move around .

Room was merely OK. Staff was friendly and location was good were the highlights. Pillows were flat, bed was stiff. Breakfast was average. Would be prettier in the spring/summer as the garden outside area was mostly dead in late November.

Very easy to get to and the room was lovely. The four poster bed made it 4 stars

Room was lovely but noisy downstairs ! A bit disappointed with the breakfast. Could only have exactly what you had preordered the previous day and there was no bacon toast or orange juice for us on the 2nd day as they had missed our order for 2nd days breakfast .

We booked two rooms, one in the lodge at the back which was lovely. The second room was no. 14 on the top floor. It was very cold and had no way to get it warm. Thankfully we didn't spend too much time in there as it was only one night stay. Longer would have been an issue. Staff were nice, breakfast was very good.

We got off to a great start! Lewis was there, opened the door to welcome us before we even got in the porch. He was kind, extremely courteous, showed us around, made us feel very welcome. Lewis set the tone for our stay, couldn’t have gone better. Room was perfect. Just the right size, clean, very comfortable. Water pressure was less than desirable, but a minor issue. We would gladly stay there again when we come back to Edinburgh. Thanks for making our stay so great, and thank you Lewis! Ben and Nydia Martin

Nice, clean and safe hotel. Far from city center and food/sight seeing options. If you stay here be prepared to walk, take a bus or cab to main parts of town. The room was really hot and ventilation could have been better.

We likes it here, perfect room for me my wife 2 kids and me mom 😊

Wonderful family room.

The room was much smaller than pictures indicated, bathroom with walk in shower nice we were meant to have a bottle of wine on arrival but it only arrived on day three when I asked about it the previous evening. Tea and coffee facilities ok but 1 hot choc between 2 and one pack of biscuits(check in after 3pm ) only 4 small milks and not fully refreshed daily but 2 small waters were given daily. .We bought milk but nowhere to store as room very warm although radiator off . We did not have breakfast there as we like to try local places for brunch ,Southpour was good . The property was ok but not what id call 4 stars as their sign indicates. Expensive for room only 30ins walk from central Edinburgh.

Absolutely delightful. Check-in was smooth. We arrived earlier than the check-in time at 11am and got into our room by 1.30pm which was much appreciated. Due to the redeye flight, we were so tired that the staff prioritized getting our room ready. The property is conveniently located, not far from the downtown core we wanted to visit. It’s nestled in a quite neighborhood and our garden suite was lovely and peaceful at night.

had the unfortunate experience of lodging near loud guests. the staff intervened three times with no changes. room was fine but not what was expected from photo reference and cost. at 2am we tried to get another room but was told they would talk to guests again, and they didn't. we did not get another room. i do not recommend staying here

Arrived at 2am after a delayed flight, had advised hotel this was happening.. wasn’t happy when no one answered the door after we rang front phone as advised for 30 minutes in the rain.. in saying that the bed was very comfortable and everything was immaculate

We were greeted by a large overflowing cigarette butt holder alongside the front steps and check-in took twenty minutes as the receptionist, despite being very courteous, was not capable of dealing with the five pairs of guests arriving at the check-in time with Fawlty Towers being referred to by one couple! Our room in the attic was not what was expected and unheated. The poorly fitting sash windows covered by curtains which most probably were new thirty years ago and not falling apart then were stuck partially open. The number for night service remained unanswered and the heating was not repaired as promised the following day. A fan heater had to be requested as none had been provided. The hot water eventually arrived in the en-suite basin after three-four minutes minimum of waiting. The young Scottish front of house gentleman at breakfast despite being courteous and very helpful struggled to cope with incorrect breakfast orders from kitchen staff despite pre-ordering the meals the previous evening. It makes little sense as to how that is possible? From our experience- which may well be different to others-the new owner of the Guest House has much to do in order to maintain its previous Reviewer ratings. We will return to Edinburgh as we enjoyed what this unique city has to offer and the very approachable and helpful locals. We will not, however, even consider this property. Expedia have not shown due diligence with reference to this listing

The Kildonan Lodge worked out well for our stay in Edinburgh. It's approximately 15 minutes from the City Centre. We used the local bus system to get back and forth and there is a stop wthin a few steps of the hotel. Parking is hard to find and is expensive in the City Centre. Our room was on the lower level, so we did not hear too much traffic noise. The room was clean and it did have a couple of USB ports for us to charge our phones (Canadian) so we did not have to use our converter. Breakfast was great and ready right on time. You preorder the night before advising of time and food choices. Checkin was easy and staff were friendly and helpful. We hired a car to get to the airport which was about a 30 minute drive.

About the only decent hotel in Edinburgh which seems to offer rooms at anything like normal UK prices. Rooms are very well equipped and comfortable if a tiny bit dowdy. There's a big free off-street private car park and an excellent bus service into the centre of town (we never waited more than a minute or two and journey only about 20 minutes) and to other parts of the city. The free bottle of wine for OneKey members was surprisingly decent though I did need to mention it at checkout to get it. I'd certainly stay again if back in town.
